Dual Wield Primary: The Breaker (Concept Art)

We have dual wield melees and secondaries, so why not primaries?

This is the Breaker, a dual assault rifle which when aimed can be put together  horizontally to become one larger weapon.

The breaker's two guns alternate their fire rate to double the fire rate allowing this assault rifle to easily mow through all who oppose it.

Unaimed (separate): Fully auto with alternating fire rate

Scoped (Together): Semi Auto With both guns firing at once with longer zoom

Breaker's damage is primarily puncture with a clip size of 24-40 shots per clip. so both guns gives you a grand total of 48-80 shots per clip.

The Breaker also has slightly longer zoom than most assault rifles.

When Breaker is sheathed it is put together like when you aim.

I like it, but putting it together doesn't seem to actually 'do' anything. It's just two machineguns locked together for no benefit except an oddly positioned scope. If anything, it'd make it harder to use, aim and reload. What else could it do, or how else could it change?

Breaker's damage is primarily puncture...

Of course.... :P

If they become faster firing when put together through alternate firing... why not alternate the fire without putting them together? Doesn't make sense.

Better make it a Corpus weapon that shoots Energy projectiles and when combined turns into a Deathray of.. well.. Death.

That's not really any different. Why not just make the deathray gun? Why would it be beneficial to separate it?

Maybe when linked together it 'charges' the bullets and they add elemental damage or something. Like one side has positively charged rounds and the other side has negatively charged rounds. Puncture on their own, but MAGNETIC when fired together?

Why not primaries? Because primaries are much larger than pistols or duel weaponry, require two hands to use properly, and are generally cumbersome if you use one hand.

I like the design, but a duel rifle would only work if it could be split to become a pistol and take up a secondary slot as well (which could work in this case)
