Personal Mini-Events, With A Sample

This grew out of Casardis's thread here and to a lesser extent Notionphil's famous Cells proposal.  Essentially, it would be a series of alert missions given to individual players (not the community as a whole) every day or three, providing somewhat steady rewards as a counterbalance to the RNG along with little stories that make sense of what you're doing in a sector.  They provide purpose and reward to all mission types, not just the Endless types, and will hopefully dovetail quite nicely with future minor factions.

 

This sample is massive.  It gives one story branch from one mission type, and still has thirty-nine termini.  Each "personal mini-event" contains exactly four missions, each randomly selected from a short list.  This one only features Lotus as a speaker and involves a Red Veil operation against either humanoid faction in any planet with access to all mission types - probably everything past Earth - meaning it can be applied pretty much anywhere.

 

Naturally, there will be rewards for each mission as well as for the personal mini-event as a whole.  Unless difficulty is also increased, like with the Suspicious Shipment alerts, I'd advise against these being too massive.  A rare resource or three here, a Fieldron there, a couple thousand credits over the default, that kind of thing.  If you want to bring friends on board (literally, assuming you can invite people onto your ship to view the briefings) they'll get access to the mission rewards and dialogue, but the overall completion payout is specific to the host.  Or not, I'm not exactly dedicated to the idea.

This isn't necessarily complete.  Since these are being delivered aboard your ship instead of in the mission, I might go back down and expand the really short ones.  Or I might not, depends on the feedback I get.

"Tenno, there is a troop ship en route to the site of a recent Red Veil strike.  The rebels have promised further support for whatever delay we can cause.  Remove this intervention unit before it can arrive."

 

Second Mission: Survival

 

"The Red Veil operatives send their thanks.  They have also sent the route and schedule of a tax collection ship.  Buy us time to open its vaults and distribute the treasure appropriately."

 

Third Mission: Defense

 

"To our surprise, there is an intact Warframe cryopod aboard this ship.  I have asked other cells and the Red Veil who found the ship to look into its origins for us.  In the meantime, secure it until we can extract you."

 

Fourth Mission: Sabotage

 

"We have located the dig site that found the cryopod from earlier.  We will need time to notify other cells of this new source.  Destroy their hardware to buy us time to intercept future shipments."

 

Fourth Mission: Mobile Defense

 

"Our leads have been fruitless.  I need direct access to the system network in order to direct future recovery teams.  I am sending you a target location now."

"During your raid the Red Veil were able to observe the results of their earlier attack.  It seems they were unable to penetrate their primary objective.  They have contracted the Tenno's services to succeed where they failed."

 

Fourth Mission: Interception

 

"The area's comm traffic is in chaos.  We do not want our enemies to figure out what happened here too quickly.  Shut down their communications relays and kill anyone who tries to interfere."

 

Fourth Mission: Deception

 

"The area's comm traffic is in chaos.  We could severely impact hostile operations in the region and give the Red Veil much more operating room if we were to blame our operations on someone else.  Go to the regional flagship and falsify their records."

 

Fourth Mission: Rescue

 

"The regional administrator is panicking.  He has taken a number of hostages, including several diplomats and a few of our sympathizers.  The Red Veil is preparing for a mass-scale rescue operation, but I want you to fake the death of at least one of those ambassadors before they can arrive.  The incident should weaken security in the area and give our forces much freer reign in the near future."

 

Third Mission: Deception
 

"It would be for the best if the truth of this operation was obscured.  Falsify the ship's security records.  We will cast blame on their rivals."

 

Fourth Mission: Interception

 

"The area's comm traffic is in chaos.  We do not want our enemies to figure out what happened here too quickly.  Shut down their communications relays and kill anyone who tries to interfere."

 

Fourth Mission: Defense

 

"During the confusion, other operatives have located a dig site containing at least one Warframe cryopod.  The workers are in a state of panic right now, giving you the perfect opportunity to slip in and clear a landing zone for a recovery team."

 

Fourth Mission: Rescue

 

"The regional administrator is panicking.  He has taken a number of hostages, including several diplomats and a few of our sympathizers.  The Red Veil is preparing for a mass-scale rescue operation, but I want you to fake the death of at least one of those ambassadors before they can arrive.  The incident should weaken security in the area and give our forces much freer reign in the near future."

 

Fourth Mission: Capture

 

"Our successes have opened a hole in the regional administrator's personal defenses.  We have the chance to capture him and his aides now, while he is away from his escorts.  Move in and retrieve the targets, Tenno."

"Despite your efforts, Tenno, rapid-response forces managed to corner the Red Veil saboteurs.  Most are dead, but several have been captured.  We have been offered additional rewards for liberating these agents."

 

 

Third Mission: Defense

 

"The Red Veil's earlier attacks have uncovered an artifact dig site, including at least one Warframe cryopod.  Secure it for extraction.  We will decide how best to deal with this operation from there."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Sabotage

 

"This mining operation must be destroyed.  It will only delay the excavation, of course, but that delay will give me time to organize a retrieval force.  Do not worry, Tenno, it is likely that any other cryopods are buried too deeply for any sabotage activities to damage them."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Capture

 

"Eliminating the overseer of the dig operation should be sufficient to slow it down until I can organize a full retrieval force.  Capture the overseer and any aides and officers; the intelligence they provide should allow us to target our future efforts much more efficiently."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Mobile Defense

 

"It will take me some time to muster a proper retrieval force.  It would be best if the enemy had no idea what they had found.  Edit the excavation records at these locations."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Survival

 

"Enough Tenno have rallied to my call that I believe we can clear out this mining operation now.  Distract the sentries while I land the other cells.  None of your brethren will be left behind."

 

Third Mission: Spy

 

"The Red Veil is grateful for your support.  In order to prevent future debacles, I would like you to provide them with up-to-date intelligence.  Retrieve as much data as you can find from the sector command post."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Defense

 

"The data has already paid off.  There is an artifact dig site in the area that has uncovered at least one Warframe cryopod.  The Red Veil is preparing an operation to cripple the dig.  Retrieve the artifact before it can be damaged in the raid."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Sabotage

 

"The recent Red Veil attacks have drawn defenses away from several key targets in the area.  Our allies will deal with most of them, but several are still too well-protected for unarmored targets to engage.  I am dispatching you to one of them."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Capture

 

"As an unexpected consequence of the Red Veil's attacks, the sector administrator has exposed himself.  Capture him and his aides before they can reach a safe haven.  This should give our allies a chance to withdraw and reorganize after their earlier defeat."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Mobile Defense

 

"It seems the security forces have much more exhaustive records of the recent incident than we expected.  There are dossiers on most of the Red Veil operatives, several key safehouses, and the retreat route they took earlier and the ships they used.  I have crafted a virus kit.  Deliver it to the regional command post.  Destroy that data."

"The sector's security forces are trying to organize a pursuit of the freed captives and keep their bases defended.  Tap their communications.  We need to know what targets to pursue and where to guide our allies in the Red Veil.  If you can lock down the relay towers I can doctor outgoing transmissions as well.  Buy our forces the time they need to reorganize."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Sabotage

 

"The Red Veil sends its regrets, but they are in no shape to pursue most of the major targets your raid has uncovered.  We cannot let this opportunity go by, however.  Proceed to this station and destroy it before the local defense forces are able to reorganize."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Defense

 

"We have located an artifact dig site containing at least one Warframe cryopod.  Secure it for extraction.  We will decide how best to deal with this operation from there."

 

 

Fourth Mission: Capture

 

"The sector administrator and his chiefs of security will be exposed very soon as they try to reorganize their forces.  Eliminating them will leave all of our forces with time to regroup and pursue other critical targets while the defense force flounders."
