A DRIFTING TOMB
The majestic gas giant, Saturn, held a Grineer derelict ship in its orbit. A search shuttle left the hangar and blasted into space with a burst from its engines.
The tail end was split off from the rest of the Liset. The front part of the craft was spinning out of control. Loose alloy coverings were broken away from the armour and spiralled debris in all directions. From within the ship, Akihito squinted, to peek through distort and dented glass. He could hear a rattling, that lingered like an unwanted roller ball as he gambled on the integrity of his hull. Akihito stood from a kneeling position, he tested each step to try for injuries, making a way for the communication panel. His left eye was split open, he covered up the other with his hand and shrilled a wordless grunt when he discovered it. Akihito staggered forwards but planted his hands firmly either side of the coms device in time, he then hit a few controls and shouted into the receiver “This, is, Tenno Akihito, I’ve been separated from my squad.” Then, the annoying rattling ceased.
“Tenno scoom!” They fired a volley of shots that were muffled by the vacuum of space. Oodles of bullet sized holes breached the wall. The firing was followed up by search lights that beamed the interior and shredded white slits of light through the bullet holes. The Grineer trooper through a grenade that ripped open a fissure. He drew his skana. While one Grineer trooper reloaded, the other kept up the fire. Akihito raised his sword and channelled his energy reserves into it, releasing an intense flash of light that rendered the Grineer stunned. In his two short window of time, he leaped for one of the troopers through the gap in the hull. The trooper recoiled with a shriek as the blade cut off his left arm. Akihito winded the sword back again, this time over his left shoulder. The Grineer trooper tried to reach out and grab his sword arm, but sounded a questioning grunt when he realised he had; no arm. The sword swept through his chest and cut him in two halves. Akihito pushed the bottom half of the Grineer away and grabbed the jetpack for himself, it was still on. The other trooper was packing for the search shuttle. Akihito used the Grineer’s jetpack to propel himself towards the door. The other trooper slammed his fist against the door panel rapidly. The hydraulic door whooshed open on the third hit and the trooper jumped in and disappeared into the darkness of his shuttle to try and start it up again. In his panic, had forgotten to lock the door, so Akihito hit the control keys and the door whizzed open again for Akihito to slip inside.
It was dark, with one light further down the corridor. Akihito withdrew a Lato, his sidearm. The shadow of the Grineer pilot disappeared along the corridor. The sound of ragged breath and footsteps echoed about the shuttle. Akihito capped his pistol and sprinted along the parallel corridor hoping to intercept. Tenno always run faster. It was at the cut-off point when he made a daring leap for the pilot, aiming below the waist. Akihito rammed the pilot into the wall. The pilot brought back an elbow into Akihito’s face, Akihito wrestled him back with the martial arts. The pilot was no match for his martial expertise and so he was left, slumped against the wall. Akihito made it halfway to the small cockpit, before a gruff snorting came from behind. Akihito twisted on his torso, aimed; put a bullet in his head. He could see his Liset through the cockpit window. Akihito turned the control chair around, and dropped into it. He attached some necessary equipment, but most of it was foreign to him. He spun the chair frontward, he held his hands above the panels, wiggling his fingers and looking down at them. A Grineer derelict ship on the other side of Rhea, one of Saturn’s moons was its programmed course.
