The Tenno Games

TL;DR: Simply, this is Clan versus Clan competition. Every Clan is competing (within their tier) with each other to have their name promoted.

And for a fancy definition….

“The Tenno Games are an ancient ritual where the Tenno test and hone their skills. As there is no true competition for the Tenno in the system, a friendly way to test their skills was created. Composed of seven events, each focusing on a prized characteristic of Tenno, the true masters of their Warframes will be separated from the rest. The victors of the Tenno games are regarded with the highest esteem and admired by all others.”

While conversing with someone about Warfarme stuff, we came to conversing about Dark Sector related stuff. Amongst all of the complaints, one good point that came up was how good the Dark Sectors are for promoting Clans/Alliances. The biggest problem with this recognition is it only applies to extremely large Clans and Alliances. Thus, I believe that there should be a way for other clans to advertise to the peoples of Warframe… a way for Clans to compete to show their superiority.

This is supposed to be promoted as friendly competition. There are no rewards that are being fought over besides name recondition, maybe a fancy badge, and maybe a special place in the new Hubs.

Also, PvP is something that always scales to endgame. PvP has a bad reputation now in Warframe, but when I say PvP I am not talking about Conclaves or Dark Sector Conflicts, it is more passive than that. It is players competing against each other in games where they never see each other. This is kind of like a leaderboard, but not that passive.

The basic idea of the Tenno Games is simple, Clans will compete against each other in events to determine the superior Clan.

Basic Workings:

  • Each of the Clan tiers will have their own section, Moon Clans will not compete with Ghost.

  • Clans compete against with each other one on one. It is not a leaderboard, it is a competition between two clans.

  • There will be 7 events, each event is separate and the winning team receives one point for each victory in an event.

  • Game=the entirety of the competition between the two Clans.

  • Event=one of the 7 subsections of the game.

  • Match=the individual round a Cell completes.

  • There will be 2 PvP events, this still leaves 5 others for competition of PvE (sort of). If both Clans agree, PvP can be omitted from the “Games” (either both omitted or neither). (For reasons from differing time zones, to servers, to both simply disliking PvP). If only one Clan omits PvP, ummm, I don’t know. It is not fair for a Clan like SFU to not be allowed to compete in the area that they specialize. On the other hand, it is not fair for a Clan to be forced into something they may be incapable of (lag, time zones, etcetera).

  • Non-PvP rounds are conducted independently. The clans can input their scores for the events whenever they want (within the three day window).

  • Each “Game” (entirety of 7 events) is 3 days long. During those 3 days, the PvE missions can be submitted and the PvP matches can commence.

  • Only players that have been in a Clan for thirty days or more may compete (to prevent Clan swapping).

  • When competing in the events, players must be in a Cell of 4.

  • When determining the winner for an event, the number of max Cells scales with Clan tier. (I am not entirely sure about these numbers, but research multipliers seemed too high)

               Ghost: 1 Cell

               Shadow: 3 Cells

               Storm: 7 Cells

               Mountain: 15 Cells

               Moon: 55 Cells

  • The highest combined score of an event of the two Clans wins the event. This is not an average as to prevent a Moon clan from having only their best single Cell compete. It is not required to do the max number of Cells due to a Clan possibly not having enough people (It will be harder for them to win, but still possible).

  • Consumables cannot be used in any event (Energy Restores, Ammo Restores, Specters etc…).

  • The Cells are pre-arranged by Clan Leadership (a new definable role). The Cells can differ between events. A person can only compete with one Cell per event.

  • Cells can redo the events as many times as they want within the 3 days to attempt to get a higher score.

  • Matches must be redone every Game. That one super awesome round only applies to the game that it was done in.

  • There are no revives (the consumable ones) in here, if you go down you are dependent on you team members to get revive you.

  • I am still debating whether or not Sentinels/Kubrows should be allowed. I would love feedback on this point.

  • Both Clans will always get the same set of tiles in order to be fair to both Clans.

Events:

Survival(ish)

This is a test of endurance.

This is kind of like the Roman Coliseum. You are in a small area competing in an impossible event to win.

You spawn in a relatively small room (Imagine the platform in Earth defense). There is some moderate cover (enough cover to be strategic, but not enough to hide for extended periods), some multi-level platforms (but not too high), and four surrounding doors. You cannot pass through these doors… but enemies can. Enemies will begin spawning and their spawn rate will be consistent, there is not a cap for the amount of enemies that can be present. As time progresses, higher level enemies will spawn.

Score is determined by the amount of enemies killed. The round will only end when all players are dead or an enemy has not been killed in one minute. The Clan with the highest combined score of all Cells wins the event.

Stealth

Tenno must be able deceive their enemies.

You are thrown in level (each clan will receive the same tile set) and are tasked with hacking panels. One panel will be hackable at a time. The panels will spawn all over a large tile set (large as in many rooms, not individual tiles) (Imagine how far you have to run in excavations… yes, it is necessary). The hackable panels will appear at random locations on the map one at a time (but the same locations for each Clan competing).

No abilities (don’t ask why… you know).

For every panel hacked, more and higher level enemies spawn.

As soon as the alarms sound, the event is over.

You gain one point for each panel hacked, Clan with the highest combined hacked panels wins.

(This part may be completely reworked to comply with the Spy mission rework)

Rush

A Tenno must be able to quickly remove their enemies.

You know those annoying rushers that speed through exterminations? Well, they are now useful.

This is basically an exterminate mission, you are have to kill every enemy as fast as possible. As soon as the last enemy is killed, the event is over (you do not have to get to extraction).

No abilities. I am not completely sure of this, but I think that people should have to show some skill over press 4. Just guns and melee.

There is a ten minute timer that is counting down, if the timer runs out you get a “mission fail” and a score of 0 (but 10 minutes should be very generous) and your score is the remaining time when every enemy is killed.

The Clan with the highest combined score wins the event.

(Alternative) There is an unlimited number of enemies and a time limit, score is how many enemies you kill in the time (still same set-up as a normal exterminate with enemies scattered throughout). (Personally not a fan of this option)

Parkour

A Tenno must be able to efficiently move around their environment.

This is pretty similar to the Obstacle Course in the Dojo. However, it will use DE’s amazing procedural generation with more fair sections (both Clans competing will get the same set).

No abilities (for obvious reasons).

This is done as a Cell, you are only as strong as the weakest link.

There is a time limit and an indefinite (or impossible) amount of tiles. Score is how far (Distance from start) the slowest person in the Cell goes. Thus, the clan with the highest combined score would win.

Sabotage Trench Run

A Tenno must be able to control the power and movement of their Archwing.

Pretty much how it is now, just with a timer.

You must both kill all enemies and destroy the core.

Abilities are a go (but may need some more consideration)

Score is time based, there is a ten minute timer that is counting down and your score is the time taken no get to kill all enemies, destroy the core, and get everyone to extraction.

Thus, the higher your score, the better you did. The clan with the highest combined score wins the event.

Capture the Flag (PvP)

A Tenno must know when to be offensive, when to be defensive, and how to out-wit an intelligent enemy.

Just imagine… Archwing Capture the flag. The huge Tile sets, massive scale, tons of hiding spots… it just sounds amazing. I am directly applying the rules of IRL Capture the flag to this.

The map will be divided down the middle, you can only damage an enemy if both you and your enemy on your side. And vice versa, you can only be killed (captured) when you are on the opposing Clan’s side.

The “flag” is placed by the Clans, no RNG here. Be strategic Tenno.

When captured, it is similar to the death screen in that you watch players still not “captured”

Like the flag, the Cells are able to place their own locations for their “jail.” “Jail” is represented as a beacon that emits waves of energy (to make its position obvious). If you are captured you can be released if someone gets to the beacon. The player released is the player that has been “captured” the longest. When a captured player is released, they spawn in the center of their own territory. Only one player may be released per crossing of the border. If a person would like to release a second person from the “jail,” they must return back to their territory and re-cross the border.

When a player finds the flag of the opposing team, picking it up un-equips their primary weapon. The player with the flag must then cross the border back to their home side. If the player with the flag is “captured,” the flag will be dropped where it is.

Once a team places their own flag, they may not move it again.

This consists of one round between Cells, the winning team gets a point. You may only re-do a round if both teams agree. The Clan with the most victories wins the event.

Two Shot Kill (PvP)

Quick reflexes, defensive movements, and forethought must be used when a Tenno is fighting an equal or stronger enemy.

This is similar to Conclaves.

When imagining this event, picture the Pluto Conclave map (a special made map would be cool too, but its size should be similar to Pluto’s due to it being four on four combat).

In this, everyone has the same equipment. This is a pure test of gameplay skill.

There are no abilities to be used.

Rather than being damaged based, this competition is hit based. Each player has two hit points to begin. One hit with any weapon takes off one hit point, you die when you have none (You are a two hit kill). I am not sure yet if headshots should count as a one hit kill.

Everyone’s load-out is, Lex, Vulkar, and Skana. Everybody’s sprint speed will be set at one, no matter what frame you are using. Lex is the simple pistol (that most will use during the event), for only needing two shots to kill, its fire-rate seems fair. Not everyone likes that play style though, so Vulkar gives them a Scope option (the snipers)). Skana is Skana, not much to add. It is a decent middle ground of range, jump attack radius, swing speed, etc. I thought about Vectis, but its fire-rate is unfairly slow. Maybe give Vectis Vulkar’s mechanics just for this mode so that you are not using Grineer weapons.

You can still be revived in this mode by teammates (but any Conclaver knows how dangerous reviving is).

A team wins by killing all those on the opposing side.

This is best out of 5 rounds. Whatever Cell has the most wins gets one point for Clan’s score for the event. The Clan with the highest combined score wins.

How the Ranking System Works:

For original (first month) set-up

When The Tenno Games would be first released, there would be a one month free for all. Clans will compete in the PvE portions over the course of the month and try to get their scores as high as possible. This is also a time to get acquainted with the new missions. During this time, there will be a straight leaderboard. Each Clan’s combined scores will be ranked per event, and an overall leaderboard will be counted by the rankings of the Clan in each of the events. (So, if a Clan is placed first in each event, their score will be 5. If a Clan is second in three, and third in two, their score will be 12).

Ties will simply be determined by comparing the scores of the individual events.

These rankings will be the overall “winners” of the Tenno Games for the first month, after these initial rankings are set does the Clan versus Clan competition begin.

After first month

Day one will be simple, The Clan in first will go against the Clan in second, and the Clan in third will compete against the Clan in fourth etcetera. Then the winners of each match will gain ground respectively (if 2 beats 1, then 2 gets to take 1’s spot and 1 takes 3’s and so on). When you lose a match, you fall down a set (or maybe more if some multiplier start playing in).

Now you ask “But what about new clans that start at the bottom? It will take forever for a Clan to move up.”

Well, that is why there is a win multiplier of sorts. If you win two consecutive rounds, you compete against the clan four ranks ahead of you (One win leads to increasing two due to there being two Clans competing with each other (Look at the picture to get a better understanding)). The higher multiplier overrides a lower. The Multiplier is reset to 0 when you lose a Game.

For example, let’s say that the Clan in 48th place just wins its eighth consecutive Game, they will then go against the Clan in 24th place.

Because that is pretty complicated, here is a representation with pictures.

ruDZQjQ.png

In the “0 Days” section, the rankings come from the initial first month.

Those rankings are then split into the respective Games.

The orange square on the Left is the Clan name, the square on the right is their win multiplier.

A green square on the right indicates the Clan that one the Game. For example, Clan B defeated Clan A.

At the end of three days, the winning clan is decided.

The Clans that won had their win multiplier increased by one.

Using the win Multiplier values, Clans moved up and down the ranking.

Look at the “6 Days” Section. You can see that Clan J has a Win Multiplier of 2, thus they went up 4 positions. Also, Clan A got bumped down four Ranks due to Overriding Multipliers.

In the “9 Days” section, Clan J has made it up to the top Game in only three Games even though they had to move up 9 ranks.

Now remember Tennos, if you like a post and don’t comment on it, it will fall to the deep, dark, depths of the forums and never be seen by DE. Thus, please comment. Say what you like, don’t like, or any other suggestions.

i would like to have a "secret dojo" in a ancient old dojospaceship somewhere in the void ...

warframes get straight down on zero when they enter the dojo/spaceship for 1 vs 1

the only weapon is a dragon-nikana on zero which the tennos can get when they enter the final dojo (circle form, area) to find out who is best

you have 3 rounds 3 minutes each, you can have 3 battles with the same opponent, after 3 battles things move on to another opponent and them which fail are out

^cheerz^ =)
