Saryn's Misnamed Abilities - Venom And Contagion - Swap Please

TL DR: Another thread pointing out how Saryns first ability (Called venom) and Saryns third ability (Called contagion) need to have their names swapped. This is not the first thread like this and I doubt it will be the last. However we seem to continue having incorrectly named abilities.

 

Now it’s been a long standing issue that always goes unnoticed with Saryn. Two of her abilities clearly have the wrong names; Contagion and Venom.

However it has not been dealt with. Some of these date back to 2013 and I am pretty sure f they made the change back then people would have gotten used to the changes. So I want to start off with the fact that confusing people long term is not a valid response.

 

Saryn has two abilities with simple names relating to real things.

Saryn ability 1 - Venom (should be called contagion)

Warframe ability definition:

Saryn tags the target with a toxic spore that does poison damage over time. Destroying the spore will spread a viral infection to nearby enemies.

Conclusion?

We have an ability that can spread between enemies that are in proximity of each almost indefinetly. The very defintion of a contagious substance.

Warframe ability definition:

Saryn channels high levels of toxicity into her melee weapon, transmitting disease and plague with each strike that connects with targets.

Conclusion?

We have ability an where Saryn somehow adds something to her melee weapons that can do damage to one individual. This damage cannot spread to other enemies unless Saryn attacks the new target with her melee weapons. This behaviour is just like a venomous material from a venomous organism.

 

Now debates have happened in each of those above threads. I cannot necro those threads but this issue is long standing and needs fixing. Why? Well at some level it is nice to know that even a game can teach people new words and terms. In fact it can be a good way of getting people to learn through association. It is just silly that these names are left the wrong way around.

 

I hope I don’t need to spell out why for people but a contagion or a contagious thing is something that spreads. Like saryns 1st ability does when it gets activated by someone shooting an orb. It also does viral damage; as in virus based. Viruses spread from person to person.

 

The 3rd ability has saryn coating her weapons in something. It is described as toxicity and does toxic damage. Though toxicity can refer to biological toxicity for bacteria and viruses it is commonly used to describe the chemical toxicity. Venom is used to describe secretions by animals that are used to attack/kill other organisms. If a snake bites you and it may be venomous and inject/shoot venom at you. This ability has saryn directly attacking enemies with something she has brought forth from herself. This is venom she has produced. Once she does damage to the target the damage cannot spread to another enemies unless saryn attacks them. The spread is from saryn and not from individuals. This is not a contagious element, and is also misnamed.
