Free Market Economy

If you like economics, this topic might interest you. The source threads both relate to price inflation and regulation in Warframe. Prices are entirely set by players, without any regulated baseline or cap. The arguments from the source threads are that Warframe’s unregulated market is open to player abuse. Do you think players abuse the free market, or does it work the way it should? How do you think a centralized auction system would affect Warframe’s economy? Would it be better, worse, or the same? In a previous Community Hot Topics, a majority of voters said they would like to see some form of Auction house in the Relays. Do you think an auction house would help stabilize prices? Do you think prices should be regulated or unregulated? How do you feel about the strength of Warframe’s economy?

Syndicate Allies

Syndicate Allies are currently on PC and are coming soon to consoles, but the source threads for this topic suggest their value is contentious in some instances. PC players, are Syndicate Allies helpful or do they get in the way? Console players, are you looking forward to having Syndicate Allies on your side?  How would you improve the Syndicate Allies?

Silly Additions

This is a fun topic about adding silly things to Warframe that add some additional flair - like the Noggles. Warframe often has its fair share of silly things around each holiday, and the source thread has examples of some silly furniture ideas for the dojo. How do you feel about silly things in Warframe? Do you think Warframe should have more of them? If so, what kind?

Volt

We’ve covered several other Warframes in previous Community Hot Topics, and I noticed a number of Volt topics this week - who we haven’t covered yet. The source threads are all feedback about Volt, but I also noticed some responses that said Volt is currently very well-rounded. What do you think? Does Volt need a revision, or is he great in his current iteration? What changes would you make to Volt, if any?

Source thread:

Allies’ Energy Bars

This topic is pretty straight forward - Would you find it useful to be able to see your allies’ energy bars? How often do you wish you had that option? Are there any other statistics you wish you could see?

The thing with Overload is that it's *almost* one of the best ultimates from a conceptual standpoint. Not great, but when used situationally it's buffed to be much better than paper would say. It's never OP, but a player aware of his/her surroundings gets more out of it than a mindless spammer. The problem is that it loses that ability after a single use, not helpful for many missions like defense, mobile defense, excavation, or even survival oftentimes. I would make overload capable of gainig the bonus damage from circuitry/lights even if it's been used already.

This shall be interesting.

Trading: I think overall is unfair in reasons, whether it be high or extremely low. It's unbalanced but hey, it is like real life so maybe this question doesn't even matter.

Volt changes: I agree to see his overload to be changed very highly then all his others. As it's very weak, slow, and strange even at times.

That's all I have to say, cheers!

Syndicate Allies

Generally I do solo stealth runs on Oberon for most of my Syndicates (not being alerted makes less hassle when searching for medallions), so it would be nice if I didn't have to carry around surprisingly un-stealthy Red Veil operatives for them at all times. Maybe if they popped up when the alarms sounded, or I could make some kind of signal to call them in...

What would be really fun though, is if the objectives of each Syndicate alert were somehow tailored to the Syndicate's ideals. For the most part they're an eclectic bunch, but it would be interesting to see Suda leaning toward sending you on specifically data-collecting missions like Spy, Steel Meridian on missions to "protect the innocent", Perrin Sequence on missions to escort cargo shipments, or Red Veil on stealth-focused missions to "purge the corruption". Add something different from your usual fare to the objective in each one - even if it was just flavor from the Syndicate operatives, explaining the strategic importance of what you're doing (like Lotus does), etc.

Volt

Volt is one of my main Warframes, and I've always enjoyed his versatility. He has small issues here and there, but for the most part, his skills are upfront and reliable.

The most consistent complaint I've seen about Volt is about how his ultimate gets weaker after the first cast; it gives Volt a nice buff for missions on-the-run, but becomes a pain for missions like Defense and Interception (involving limited spaces you're stuck in for long periods at a time) or Survival (where you revisit areas a lot). Additionally, the use of status rather than hard CC effects like Rhino Stomp means that enemies can ignore the effects if they're in an animation lock. Since it's mostly just damage and status, you're often better off using Shock for the same purposes, especially on higher-level missions.

My recommendation does not pertain to Overload itself, but to the environment: that lights 'destroyed' by Overload and Soundquake activate their backup generators after a certain period (30 seconds is fair), allowing you to weaponize them additional times. It could be an experimental method to add a soft cooldown to Overload's damage effect, discouraging spam by weakening bursts but still encouraging you to use its full effects in a pinch. Buff the environmental damage and it could be like having Volt bring his own Void Defense laser.

Beyond that, any buffs it needs are the same as any other Warframe power - dealing with damage falloff when it doesn't have scaling effects.

Personally, I've often found that Electric Shield doesn't really mesh well with Speed. One encourages mobility and melee, the other holding ground and gunplay; they're both effective at their jobs and encourage varying up your playstyle (exceptional for starters), but they don't have a lot of overlap to make them fit in one frame's kit. I'd like to see Electric Shield be able to be picked up by the Volt, or perhaps an augment to make it a buff he can carry with him, something to encourage using both at once.

And of course, the visual distortion on his skills. Speed has crazy FoV changes if you don't alter your settings, which can especially tick off your allies (I've actually seen some players mention it made them ill). Electric Shield's little arcs across the surface make it difficult to snipe through it, on top of bullets and normally pinpoint-accurate beams vanishing with some immeasurable accuracy reduction.

1. No, the trade channel is full of people looking to gouge you for as much as they can get. I personally try to be more than reasonable when I sell things because it undercuts the gougers and hopefully spreads the mindset a bit.

2. I might disable Syndicate allies in some situations, but they're interesting to have when it doesn't matter. The rep loss for their deaths needs to go, though. They're coming along more for their own group's interests than to aid me, so I don't want to have to pay for their screw-ups.

3. No. No more silliness. Get serious about polishing up your old content first. If you can spare devs for creating new minigames that most people play once or twice, you can spare devs to speed up the process on more crucial things for the game's success. Silliness is okay, but we've got enough of that for now.

4. Overload needs to be a respectable ult in its own right without relying on the environment for bonus damage. Personally, I think Volt could stand to have his ult reworked into something a little more unique than "expanding AOE electrical damage that burns out lights and cameras." Not that I have any ideas, though.

Volt is well rounded, but it is too much split between its roles.
Example: Speed offers mobility, Electric Shield is for a stationary situation.
Speed is awesome and modded correctly makes Volt a melee beast. But Volt has the least armor in game.

The real problem is Overload. The animation is too slow, the damage is ridicle and for its own mechanic is not efficent the second time cast.
Its stun capacity and versatility are overshadowed by both Shock and Shocking Speed. (Heck, people saying Shock is bad don't play Volt)
(I also usually end up using just 1 or 2 of its skills, depending if I'm going melee or ranged, ignoring completely Overload..)

I'd suggest a total remake of the single skill.

Maybe making it into some kind of self buff empowering its other skills?
Empowering its next skill ...Like shooting X Shocks instead than 1, prolonged duration for Speed, spawning a barrier following
the Volt ala Odonata's Energy Shell for Electric Barrier...

This way it can fit the multi-task skillset, both the melee and the support caster role and weld together all the other skills for every playstyle.

On the free market:

Right now, it's heavily open to abuse and is flat out inconvenient. An auction/marketplace system would allow players to actually make informed decisions regarding trades, and on top of that would let them actually play the game without lurking in trade chat for hours. That right there is the number one issue I have with trade. It's so inconvenient, and a marketplace/auction system would fix that. The only downside I see is a potential race to the bottom situation where supply is glut so high that everyone sells everything for 1p.

However, I think the best way to handle that is to implement price floors based on part rarity for the marketplace/auction. That way everyone's happy.

On syndicate allies:

I wouldn't disable them very often at all, now that they don't show up on stealth missions. They're fun.

I do wish they were always revivable though. And I wish they got a beacon on your minimap like kubrows do. I always feel so bad when I get caught up in killing only to not even notice one of my meridian bros go down with no chance to revive.

Silly stuff:

I don't mind in general. It adds a little levity to the game, and it's been this way forever. Those corpus easter bunny ears are hilarious. I do think the silly stuff can overstay its welcome though, so I don't necessarily approve of it being all the time.

Volt:

His shield is good and his speed is good. Everything else about him badly needs a rework.

Ally energy bars:

The only time I find myself wishing for this is when playing either Trin or Limbo, because those are the only ones who can actually take steps to replenish ally energy without a restore.

I rarely end up wishing I could see allied energy bars, but when I do, I REALLY wish I could. And there have been times I wish my teammates could see mine, especially when I'm using Quick Thinking and there's a Trinity.

I generally don't mind the syndicate allies, mostly because they already don't show up in spy or rescue, hostage notwithstanding. On a related note, please make the syndicate hostages speak, like the normal ones do.

1. Generally I've had good experiences with Trading, most people set items at fairly reasonable prices. However I do notice that new mods and Prime Warframes go for easily 200 (mostly more) Plat, and even after the initial hype has died down they generally stay at said prices until their drop rates are better or something new comes out.

However I have noticed that there are also a fair amount of Sharks in the Trade Chat that like to try and trade items for higher values than most "honest" players do, and do so by asking for the buyer's offer beforehand to see if they can get them to buy it for a larger price.

Whilst I don't think DE should be in total control of the Market, I do feel that something akin to an Average Price List for items would be beneficial to new players (or just people new to trading.)

2. In general I would most likely deactivate Syndicate Allies in favor of Specters.

3. More silly stuff would be nice, but overdoing it would ruin the game.

4. Personally I'd like to see something done to Speed to give Volt some more survivability in combat against Hordes of enemies, such as a damage reduction model based on his movement or something.

Electric Shield could stand to have a little curve or something around the edges for some further protection.

5. I would love seeing Energy Bars for teammates.

Well volt's ultimate is definitely the worst ultimate in the ENTIRE GAME , needs a change obviously.

Well i dont personally own ember, but most people dont like the changes that have done to her.

But you cant mak overload worse than its current state so i've got no problem with that

I thought you were going to reference tightly packed hordes of enemies...

The tight packing of enemies allows Volt's Overload to be have more damage potential than the environmental electronics...

(Like Amprex...the more to chain the better)

I absolutely want an auction house were players can put up their items for an auction price and a purchase price.

As for Syndicate allies, I absolutely love them being on Syndicate missions. That said, the only way I'd prefer to have the option of deactivating, in a way that didn't negatively impact coop or players that do like them, is if they replaced Syndicate specters as a reusable specter of sorts (so you throw it down from your gear and an ally drops down). But it'd have to be reusable, not consummable.

As for silly things, I absolutely don't want any more silly things, lore wise. Having silly things in the marketplace is fine. But I don't want any more silly bosses or silly designs, like Tyl Regor, Kela de Thaym, Nef Anyo, and Derf Anyo. Alad V, Darvo, and Baro Ki'teer are silly enough.

Trade prices shouldnt be set, but the addition of an auction house would be nice, Im sure if we just make it a simple auction option like eBay for example (setting a minimum offer and expiration time) it would be a wonderfull addition, however I like getting good trades where I buy something cheap and sell it with some profit, some people made lots of platinum this way and its only fair to reward good marketing.

Currently, it's a hassle to go into the Trade chat and hope that people on at that time want what you're selling or that they're selling what you want to buy. An auction house or market board would greatly benefit the game, I think.

Volt's Overload ability should have its damage bonus for electrical objects tweaked. Maybe the bonus damage should increase by a set amount every time it's cast up til a certain cap. That way, players aren't punished for using it too early and removing the bonus for subsequent casts.

ohhh no they might touch volt now :(  please dont make him trash DE.

Lets just say I'm not a fan of all the nerfs, buffs, and berfs that were made, to all the frames and weapons last year and so on.
