Paracyst Am I Missing Something?

Paracyst is a lab aquired weapon. Any weapon that can only be brought though the clan lab requires alot of resource and work. And Paracyst is no diffrerent.

So what the deal? It just seems to meh. Roping people is cool but it is pretty much useless as far as combat is concerned and it use 6 ammo. Might as well bring valkyr.

The design looks cool. Someone put alot of effort into this thing.

Anyone have any suggestions for making this weapon worth the research cost? Or am I just missing something?

DE could at least make it a charge weapon. Uncharge for burst fire, and charge for the rope. So the right mouse button can be used for aiming. This would make it less painful to level Paracyst.

Paracyst is the only Quanta-family weapon I don't have 5 forma in yet.

I prefer the Muralist Quanta over the normal Quanta. (I prefer the Utility of 'Large Orbs" *currently tiny on PS4* in comparison to Explosion cubes) (Also, the spin primary fire - nuff said)

Primary Fire Wise ... Paracyst suffers from being a Burst Semi-Auto which has a poor firing mechanic currently.

But Base is straight toxic damage.

The Harpoon is different, but hard to find a practical use for in actual gameplay. (Ground finisher setup on heavies can be accomplished much easier than a Harpoon/Grapple-hook)

I'll probably put 5 formas into the Paracusts after I re-finish my Lanka (accidentally sold Lanka...starting over)

I'll do a status build and test it in a few Survivals, but I don't have high hopes...

**Perhaps of the Harpoon with Punch-Through would drag all enemies hit instead of just the last enemy "pierced"

It has a good status chance, ok damage, and the alt fire is useful for things like pulling Ancients away from their allies or tagging a heavy unit with a Viral proc over time from behind cover.  It's inability to zoom with RMB is its biggest issue.  Contrary to popular belief the damage is fine; we just need to be able to aim.

The main benefit of Paracyst is its high status chance, burst fire, and the fact that it has pure elemental damage so your procs aren't diluted by Impact-Puncture-Slash procs like Burston Prime.

I'll admit it's lacking severely, but this seems to be the angle it was going for.

The worst part is that it has no innate synergy with its two firing modes, like the M.Quanta and regular Quanta does. The harpoon is just... there.

That said, I'd like if the primary fire shot out, on top of the 3 current toxic projectiles, 3 bursts of gas with limited range (think of the Embolist, but with a narrow cone, but shot in a 3-shot-burst, rather than being full-auto), which dealt another 25 toxic (or gas) damage per gas-burst. That way, you have a REASON to pull in enemies with the harpoon, dealing up to double damage to them when they are near you!

Let it zoom, and make the "tongue" a charged shot. imo

Yah, this is a great idea. I'd love to see this implemented, as well as a damage boost to put it on par with Burston Prime.

I feel really sorry for this weapon, it was Dead On Arrival, so you don't even see many threads about buffing it. People just forget it exists.

That's nothing.

The Ignis is also a lab weapon. So is the dera. Supra.

First two have extremely low damage.

Last one can't hit anything beyong 4 meters.

Lab weapons used to mean unique special weapons that had a bit of beef to them.

Lab doesn't mean anything anymore. Once you make an Itzal archwing and an Amprex, you're pretty much done.

There are some decent Lab weapons, like Phage, Synapse, Amprex, Attica, Quanta, Opticor etc.

Amprex is only good after 5-6 formas and a potato. Not necessarily a decent weapon, when you consider how much time it takes to become useful.

This incredibly dismissive attitude is part of the reason that powercreep has become so prevalent in the past year or so.
