Notebook Overheating On Liset.

Hello.

I have an issue with being on Liset.

There were no such issues on missions, but between missions i'm standing on Liset. No matter what i'm doing on tenno ship my notebook PC starts to heat very fast. This overheating much like a spike graph: 2-3 minutes normal, 1 minute heating. During heating it's hard to do anything, because heating results a performance issues - dribbling sounds, fps loss etc.

My graphics is lowest (i have all options turned off), there wasn't such a problem untill past october 2014. I thought it was just a new patch issue, but it's continuing to happen.

The game itself affecting my notebook, i'm very concerned about this. Earlier nothing was disturbing me and i enjoyed the game, but this really demotivates me.

I'll try to do some checks myself, but if you can say possible solves for this situation, i could be most grateful.

Best regards.

Laptops aren't generally designed to run 100% loads for extended periods of time, meaning the heat dissipation ability is not up to par with the heat generated. The issue can be exaggerated if the heatsinks have gathered dust over time. You could try blowing compressed air through the vents, or take it to a computer shop. If you do it yourself remember to take out the battery first and don't blow for extended periods of time as that can cause moisture condensation.

The idea of turning on vsync is to limit frame rate thus decreasing load, in turn this will probably lower your average fps.

VSync seems like good advice but what is it about the Liset that causes that?

My desktop potato doesn't have performance issues so much.  But, in the Liset, very often, the fans all kick into high gear in a way that they don't when playing the actual game.

EXACTLY, not on missions but on Liset.

ATM I just ran optimisation feature in launcher, then i switched off 64 bit. It gave a significant performance gain, and then i switched on Vsync.

Before i could hear my notebook fans from nearby room. After i barely hear it when my notebook is lying on my knees with Warframe running and me standing on Liset.

I actually noticed this becoming an issue recently.  Just did few a tests and it gets up to !70c! in the armory on the Liset. Makes no difference whether DX9/10 | Adaptive Exposure On/Off | Vsync On/Off.  No other game even comes close and most idle around 45-55c under load.

eta: I'm running on a desktop not a notebook.

What sort of FPS numbers are you getting with vsync on?

VSync seems like good advice but what is it about the Liset that causes that?

Imagine your system is a Painter.

Your screen asks the painter to paint 30 pictures every second (for example).

For the most part, your painter can oblige. He can paint 30 paintings and have them ready for when the screen asks for them.

However, when you ask your painter to paint a very complex scene with lots and lots of detail, it will take him more time to paint those very complex scenes. So he will miss some of the 30 requests. He may only submit 20 paintings in the same time-frame.

Conversely, if your painter only needs to draw a scene with little to no detail i.e a single brush stoke. He can throw those out at an amazing pace. for every 30 requests your screen makes, your painter has 70 paintings for him to choose from.

The liset is the latter example. There is little detail and complexity to the scene so your system can render it very easily, and quickly with no cap to his ability.

What V-sync does, is it tells the painter, when he's done with a painting, to stop and wait for a request from the screen. Once he's submitted that image, he will start the next one. If he finishes early again, he'll hold onto the painting again and wait for the request.

V-sync can also be called double buffering.

One buffer holds the image for the screen, the other buffer has the image being drawn to it.

Are you sure V-sync engages? You should check the FPS counter, you may need to restart warframe for it to take effect.
