The problem is that outside of the Boar and its Prime version none of the shotguns have nearly enough spread within the standard encounter range in this game. With the Kohm you can still land most of your pellets on a single enemy until you're well beyond the range that damage hits its minimum from fall-off. Maybe if it had 2-3x the spread I can see removing the damage fall off. As it stands though the pellets stay way too clustered. If you can get most of your pellets to hit an enemy (with a decent number hitting the enemies head) at 30 meters (which is about the furthest you'll find for a standard encounter in this game outside of a few large defense maps) then the spread is no where near what it should be if you want to remove damage fall off. Otaiken Posted April 2, 2015 Share Posted April 2, 2015 (edited) Shotguns in this game make little sense (from a GAMEPLAY perspective). Falloff should be removed. If DE feels the need to increase the spread to balance that, so be it. One of the biggest problems of shotguns is the same thing that plagues snipers. They are mostly high damage slow/low clip weapons in a game where there's huge amount of cannon fodder. It would make sense to get some distance and use the spread to cut down the masses and then get close and personal for the damage burst on the big guys. But you can't do that because of the falloff. Shotguns have no niche in this game... at all. You can't reliably kill multiple enemies with one shot... both due to the spread and low pellet count (abysmal even with multishot) and the falloff. At point blank range you might as well use melee which actually staggers your enemies and is AoE capable. At mid range you start losing your damage and would be better served with rifle and at long range... well. Where does the shotgun fit in exactly? Imho shotguns need falloff removed. Prostagmo Posted April 3, 2015 Share Posted April 3, 2015 I concur, shotguns are the nerfed ones... when the game was easier than now, i used shotguns because it was fun. after some changes, shotguns got useless because every faction is powerful and annoying enough to render shotguns less useful than a assault rifle or bows. I think a trade fair enough would be the removal of this limitation, maybe change the dispersion/spread to go worse at 50m (then worse at 75 and so on).
