Regard Shotgun Buff

As the tittle said, I want to ask information about the shotgun buff that DE promise since last year.

I remember people asking about it for 2 Dev steam, and DE said they are making progress with the shotgun buff. And to new year, I dont see it anywhere, even though U16 has comming out. Did I miss some update or something ? All I see is some changes in Kohm, from buff and nerf but all other shotgun receive no change what so ever.

If the buff has been issue, please anyone with the knowledge please brief me through it. If the buff has not been issued, please tell me the estimate time it will be out.

Thank you for your time DE :)

P/s: and sorry for my bad english

DE did mention about shotgun and sniper rebalance at Devsteam 43, at 32:30, a buff to be exact. Because shotguns have been in bad reputation for long time, unlike rifle like boltor prime, soma or Opticor. Even the best shotgun is not as good as other rifle. So DE decice to revisit it. And since then, I dont see any major announcement so I'm asking did I miss anything ?

They have to watchout about what they would do to buff shotties. Prior to the introduction of damage fall off nobody would run with anything but a hek... that thing could sniper and one shot pretty much anything and I don't want to fall back in the era of hek peasants. Also, hek is still powerful with scattered justice (I know I know, an augment should not be needed to make a weapon viable but if hek is too buffed up, it will become a monster with SJ augment). For the rest, +1 to shotty buff.

Vieux brings up a good pointin terms of what a straight buff would affect.

I think shotguns could deal with having a bit more usability added (buff the reload or clip size mods?) and maybe if their crit and status chances (or mechanics) were changed to actually be viable that'd make them better without having to remove or reduce falloff?

I think nerfing a whole weapon class because of one shotgun that was over the top seems kind of silly, would of made more since to just adjust the hek itself instead of adding falloff. But yeah a lot of shotguns need bigger clips or shorter reloads, and falloff to be toned down or removed so that firing into a thick group of enemies actually can benifit a shotgun without being crippled by falloff.

I haven't play at the time Hek being that powerful, so I dont know how bad it is, but I think increase spread is 1 way to make sure Hek does not 1 hit everything at sniper range.

About the shotgun change, I think remove damage falloff and increase critical chance of some shotgun is good enough yes ? Most shotgun dont have that tight spread of the Hek, so over long distance, the pellet spread will act as damage falloff, since only a few pellet will hit the target. While in middle range, it can still be powerful. That is how shotgun really is: a powerful mid to close range weapon with the ability to deal solid good damage but suffer long reload time and small mag capacity.

Critical damage is another side of my opinion. DE said they want to change how players always go for 1 type of modding, and I agree. However, there is no shotgun currently in the game can go critical damage build, even the boar prime. I run the number on paper and full element build give higher damage than a critical build.

Another point I want to make is risk and reward for shotgun type weapons. To deal the most of its damage, players must getting close to the target before firing. So players have to take risks, and they should be rewarded for the risks they take. Right ? I see many arguments reward risk and reward play style, from Ember ability to melee weapons. So why not for shotgun too, right ?

Back to the original question, can anybody tell me if there has been any change on shotgun over all ? If I miss it then please enlighten me. If there hasn't been, can I ask DE staff how is the progress with the shotgun change ?

P/s: and please don't answer Soon.
