Huyn - Time Control Warframe

I recently did the Hidden Messages questline and it got me a little interested in the lore behind some of the warframes. While thinking of lore and a potential acquisition quest for my other warframe concept, Stratum, I began thinking about another warframe that would be paired with Stratum. Therefor: Time Manipulation.

----------------------

Name: Huyn. (Derived off Huygens, the person credited with suggesting a pendulum clock mechanism. Alternatives: Temperant, Fugion)

Theme: Time Manipulation
Class: Control/Support

Stat Summary: Decent energy, decent to high shields, decent health, decent to high armor, decent to low movespeed

Lore: With the war on the Sentients looking bleak, the Orokin were left with few options. The technological genius that had managed to break into void technology was largely incapacitated by the Sentient's abilty to assimilate alien technology. But two inventor brothers had come up with another potential way to annihilate their armies, ironically with a form of technology that was, up until then, even beyond the Orokin. Their suggestion: Temporal assassination.

Their goal was to create a warframe that would be able to go back in time and annihilate the Sentients before they could become a threat. The two brothers both put their minds to work and found two different means of achieving their goal.

Many of the Orokin protested. If this kind of technology fell into the hands of the Sentients, the war would be over in a heartbeat. The Orokin would cease to exist and the Sentients would become more than just an enemy in a war. But in secret, the brothers were smuggled into their individual workplaces, kept hidden from the Sentients, even kept hidden from most of the Orokin.

The youngest of the two brothers was headstrong. No law of time would stop him from achieving his goal. He would invent a warframe that could grasp the strands of time and bend them to his will. And ultimately, he succeeded. Huyn became a reality, a warframe with dominion over the flow of time. But before it could be perfected, the workplace was found and attacked by the sentients.

Nothing remained. All research was destroyed. The silver lining to this very, very dark cloud was that the Orokin were still there. Somehow, Huyn had escaped them. It had been a close call, and the incident was covered up. Huyn and his inventor would be forgotten, the secret of how the audacity of an Orokin inventor had almost made enemies into gods.

Acquisition Quest: Time and Again

The acquisition quest for Huyn would start by crafting Orokin ciphers into an audio log. The Lotus will be able to translate, and send the translation to your inbox. It's a journal kept by the inventor, detailing Test #58 taking place at a location, which is where the first blueprint can be acquired. During this mission, the Lotus will guide the player to small rifts in time, that allow her to glimpse the tests taking place.

Upon acquiring the first blueprint, another audio log is unveiled. This audio log details Test #58 taking place at a different location, although halfway through the log, the inventor states that he feels a strange sense of familiarity. The new location will present a similar mission, and once again the Lotus catches glimpses of a test run. She comments that the inventor looks a little unwell.

Again another audio log is unveiled with the second blueprint. This audio log details Test #58 taking place at a third location, the inventor commenting at the end that he feels strangely tired and that he's been having headaches. The same mission repeats in the new location, the Lotus observing one more test run, and commenting that although the warframe doesn't progress, the inventor and his associates look older.

Upon completion of the third blueprint, one more audio log is provided. In it, the inventor writes that he managed to grasp that he's been living in a loop, unwittingly running Test #58 at least four thousand times over. With this knowledge, he's managed to figure out that the warframe lacks stabilisation. However, he also states that the tests have drawn too much attention. His workshop has been discovered by the Sentients. To the listener, he explains that he will finish crafting the stabiliser and will hide it somewhere, giving the player one more location. He also states that he will take the unrefined Huyn and attempt to complete his mission. In the very likely event that he fails, at least the Huyn would be lost in time, the unstabilised prototype would most likely be scattered like dust.

His last words are a farewell to his beloved brother, and he expresses the hope that his brother's approach has been more fruitful than his own.

Abilities & Augments

Ability 1: Borrowed Time

25 Energy

Huyn sends a projectile to target location, which explodes on impact, dealing (50/100/150/200) viral damage. Enemies affected by this blast lose (20/30/40/50%) movement and attack speed for (5/8/11/14) seconds. For every enemy affected, Huyn and nearby allied warframes gain (5/6/7/8%) movement and attack speed, up to 50%, for (5/10/15/20) seconds.

Power Strength: Increases damage and the amount of speed gained per enemy.
Power Range: Increases blast radius and the aura radius.
Power Duration: Increases duration of both slow and haste.

Augment: Distortion. Enemies killed by the initial blast relive their death three times over, effectively rerolling their drop tables twice, on top of their normal drop table roll.

Ability 2: Quicksave

50 Energy

Huyn stores a memory at his current location. For the next (7/10/13/16) seconds, reactivating the ability will cause Huyn to revert back to the memory's location. If his health and shields had fallen below the amount he had when making the memory, they will be restored to the memory's values. This ability automatically activates if Huyn is knocked out while the memory is active.

Power Strength: No effect.
Power Range: Increases lifespan of the memory, at half effect.
Power Duration: Increases lifespan of the memory.

Augment: Clipcheck. Memory now also stores ammo information. Returning to the quicksave restores 100% of spent ammo to Huyn and allied warframes.

Ability 3: Time of Ruin

75 Energy

Creates an area at target location, lasting (10/15/20/25) seconds,  in which the eroding effect of time is heavily accelerated. Enemies within the area lose 4/6/8/10 armor and 1/2/3/4% of their maximum health per second.

Power Strength: Increases armor reduction effect.
Power Range: Increases the width of the area.
Power Duration: Increases the lifespan of the area.

Augment: Glimpse. Shield capacitors of allied warframes in the area are temporarily enhanced with many years of technological research, increasing their regeneration rate and greatly reducing their regeneration cooldown.

Ability 4: Timestop

100 Energy

After a brief cast time, Huyn timestops all enemies in the current and adjacent cells for (5/10/15/20) seconds. Enemies that have been stopped cannot take action and cannot detect you. Any damage taken by these enemies is postponed until the Timestop ends.

Power Strength: No effect.
Power Range: No effect.
Power Duration: Increases lifespan of the Timestop.

Design Notes

Huyn is a control/support hybrid frame, spreading focus between helping allies destroy and weakening enemy troops.

Borrowed Time is designed to be a good way to control masses, a spammable ability that will strongly reduce the threat of groups of enemies. The reason for viral damage is that it can proc to take off a portion of the enemy's max HP, which I thought corresponds nicely with aging.

Augment: Distortion is designed to be a farm booster. Forcing the enemy to die three times will triple the drop chances. If possible without threats to the engine's stability, I'd even go so far as to create three bodies, for better cooperation with Desecrate.

Quicksave is a personal survival and sustain module for Huyn, allowing him to distract enemies and draw attention safely, despite non-excelling durability of the warframe.

Augment: Clipcheck is a great help to wielders of weapons that have poor ammo economy, like the Gammacor or Castanas.

Time of Ruin is designed to boost the damage taken by enemies that appear in the zone. For maximum effect, enemies would have to be kept in it. The effects of this ability are intended to be permanent, but it is possible to impose a lifespan limit of the effects.

In terms of visual design, Time of Ruin could show a clock on the ground, which either ticks down its remaining seconds, or has hands spinning out of control.

Augment: Glimpse would greatly boost the survivability of allies in the area, reducing the amount of time it takes for your shields to start regenerating after you've been hit, on top of boosting their recovery rate. I opted for shield boosting because shields are a Warframe's primary means of defense, and they are far more likely to be depleted than health.

Timestop is an absolute control ability, but can also function as a stealth tool. Since enemies cannot detect you or your allies while stopped, it effectively functions as a squad-wide invisibility.

Edit1: Fixed a spelling error, added clarification for viral damage in design notes.

Let me know what you think! I am not very well acquainted with the lore of the Orokin and the Sentients, so if the lore I wrote is inconsistent with already confirmed lore, please let me know!
