Recommended Posts

Name: Pattern Recognition

Description: Provides additional processing power to help eliminate human error when terminal hacking.

Type: Sentinel Mod

Suggested Rarity: Rare (or Uncommon)

Suggested Polarity: 20px-Naramon_Pol.svg.png Naramon - Dash / Bar (Utility)  or 20px-Penjaga_Pol.svg.png Penjaga - Precept (Ability)

Suggested In-Game Description: Terminal Hacking XX% Chance to Lock in up to N Matched Item(s)

Mechanics: When a player using a hacking terminal correctly matches a Corpus pattern tile or Grineer tumbler there is a chance this will lock that item into position. This helps to prevent the player from unlocking already matched patterns by mistake.

Suggested Ranks: 5 Regular with normal percents, 3 Damaged with reduced percents

Rank 0 = 10% Chance to Lock in up to 1 Matched Item

Rank 1 = 20% Chance to Lock in up to 2 Matched Items

Rank 2 = 30% Chance to Lock in up to 3 Matched Items

Rank 3 = 40% Chance to Lock in up to 4 Matched Items

Rank 4 = 50% Chance to Lock in up to 5 Matched Items

Rank 5 = 60% Chance to Lock in up to 6 Matched Items

Notes:

This Mod does NOT auto complete or lock in items on its own. It locks one in once matched so the player cannot turn or unlock that one again.

Recommended for mission types where Ciphers are not allowed (like timed Grineer terminals in Nightmare Trials) or where Ciphers are cost prohibitive (to newer players). Allows for better hacking specialist designation for Raid and Spy teams.

This particular Mod concept is probably not the sexiest ever read in the history of Mod concepts. It is just something to add to your arsenal to possibly expand your playstyle. Constructive feedback encouraged & welcome.

Version 2.0 Changes: Specified as Sentinel Mod. Added percent for successful lock-in instead of guaranteed success. Separated description & mechanics.

Alternate Name: Data Uplink

Old Version 1.0 Info:

Name: Pattern Recognition (Mod)

Description: This will lock into position a correctly matched Corpus pattern tile or Grineer tumbler when Terminal Hacking. This prevents the player from unlocking already matched patterns by mistake.

Ranks: 5 Regular, 3 Damaged

Rank 0 = Locks 1st Matched Item

Rank 1 = Locks First 2 Matched Items

Rank 2 = Locks First 3 Matched Items

Rank 3 = Locks First 4 Matched Items

Rank 4 = Locks First 5 Matched Items

Rank 5 = Locks First 6 Matched Items

Alternate Name: Infiltrator (to synergize with Intruder Mod)

TL;DR in image form showing a Microsoft created Sentinel in action (below).

Oh, now THIS is nice. And it would be nice if this were allowed to work in Nightmare Raids - that extra buffer would be incredible.

That said, I agree that it should be a three-rank mod at most.

(It would also be nice if Intruder did something at all to Grineer hacks, but that's another story.)

DE were going to add a timer to the Grineer hacking terminals eventually. They just haven't gotten around to it yet. Edit: Grineer hacking terminals timed on Nightmare Trials.

Also, the 12-15 tile corpus hacking terminals from the old MR5 rank test aren't in regular missions, but could be introduced with future content as well.

Most corpus are up to 7 tiles and most grineer are up to 8 matches.

I don't think I'd run this (like most utility mods) in exchange for losing a more useful mod unless we got utility slots (DE plz)- BUT I'd for sure where this 100% of the time if I had a utility slot for it (not augment, utility) because Grineer puzzles give me fps problems for some reason and makes hacking them difficult, this would help a lot.

Timer on Grineer? Somehow that sounds like a bad idea, considering their completion is based on timing button presses, so missing one would be more punishing than moving a Corpus hack tile out of position... although in general, it's just silly for Grineer hacks to be harder than Corpus.

I will be reworking this fan concept as a Sentinel mod, rather than as a Warframe mod.

Your Sentinel will provide additional processing power to help eliminate human error from terminal hacking.

Because thread feedback indicated 6 pattern lock-ins were possibly OP as a 5 rank mod, each lock-in will have a % chance to work instead of 100% lock in guarantee.

I'll be honest. I do not like the "% chance to lock them in" If I'm gonna invest on a utility mod even on a sentinel- I want it working 100% of the time without any rng involved.

It's still high enough % to be useful with the 2.0 mechanics IMO. You can always unmatch and rematch a tile / tumbler to have it do another RNG pass, too, until you reach the cap for the mod.
