Dang Prime In Void

So I've been doing a lot of research on people's opinion on Fang Prime lately. I recently built them and originally started using them as more of an aesthetic with my newly built Ash Prime. But as I started using them, I've discovered how they shred through grinneer. But when I started looking up builds I found the Fang generally aren't liked for high tower void. Now my question is, based off the fact that the two most armored enemies in the void who inevitably become the reason corrosive damage is a must, are based off grineer, why is that puncture damage the Fang has not make them a viable option? Why are they not liked if the puncture damage is exactly what you need? If it's obvious and I don't see it, I apologize for my ignorance, but I am legitimately curious.

And I just now realized that my auto correct (I posted this on my phone) made the Fang in the title Fang instead. Sorry about that

all this autocorrect

I haven't used Fang Prime extensively at all and even have limited use with my preferred dual daggers (Ether Daggers), so I cannot speak with certainty here.

It likely falls down to either not enough damage output (which might be good enough) or lack of range (which they do suffer from). You have to get very close to enemies to actually deal damage, and that leaves you exposed for more time and puts you in harm's way.

Also, people often don't like using weapons if they don't have big numbers in the menu since those are more often perceived as the strongest. All the hidden multipliers and attack speeds really add up, though.

The fang aren't useful for high-level void because they require lots of hits to be landed. When you can be one-hit by a bombards tracking shot, the fang are not very useful. However, the fang P is very useful in PVP when you melee spam

What if it's paired with stealth and ashe's teleport/fnisher on said target?

Apparently current Fang Prime is a nerfed version of an original that was truly beloved. I read that there were some world class "damage for kill" animations that were removed. It soured Fang Prime Afficionados.

Maybe a founder/vet can confirm.

It was Synoid Gammacor before Synoid Gammacor.

Too bad it's stats are no longer top-tier. It's got a great aesthetic.

and forget trying to farm Dang Prime. I've tried and tried and it has a drop chance lower than that stance mod that "shall not be named". I just can't seem to find that Dang thing no matter how many void missions I run.

Low crit chance, low status chance, low range (you need to be up close and personal) and puncture damage has a falloff against enemies when they start to reach level 75 or so (instead of killing them within a few hits, it takes a good 30 seconds)

Overall, puncture damage is fine, it's just that it has a cap of effectiveness against heavily armored high level units.

Elemental combos will do more effective damage, or slash damage will out perform it in higher levels.

Also as others stated above, a 2 Hander has a near 500% damage multiplier on finishers and dagger/dual daggers is around 1-200% if i remember correctly.

So if you like finishers go for a Jat kittag or scindo prime.

high base damage (or high multipliers in their stances), wide range, high status chance, crit based... those are the kind of things that make weapons stand out in the "meta", sadly fang/prime has none of these, just having puncture damage doesn't automatically make it an efficient at killing armored units.

What if it's paired with stealth and ashe's teleport/fnisher on said target?

Those same things can be applied to any melee weapon, so in the grand scheme of things it still doesn't give them any edge over anything else.

oddly enough daggers have one of the lowest finisher multipliers of melee weapons IIRC

So basically, Fang prime is just specifically for grineer if you have the survivability in the higher levels? What melee is best for higher tower? I've heard that Dragon nikana or orthos prime are good, but with my experience with the Dragon nikana, I find it too slow. I don't have orthos so I don't have any idea on that.

Grineer and corrupted both mainly focus on armored units, so your loadouts will still pretty much be the same. And really those slash based weapons would still be more efficient at killing those armored opponents then fang prime would be for the reasons in my above post. Dragon nikana sporting absurdly high base damage and decent crit (I'd suggest trying berserker on it if it feels too slow, also try the blind justice stance if you haven't yet), and orthose prime sporting good base damage and absurdly high range.

In the end use whatever you want, it'll still kill just fine when properly modded, I use the hell out of my fang primes.

Your post reminded me of a certain video.
