De Give Some Love To Magistar Pls

I remembered when Magistar first came out along with Oberon, I instantly fell in love with both of them. Still don't get why Magistar had to be given a nerf to its attack speed. It was one of the better heavy weapons out there before Melee 2.0 came. Its attack speed makes it ill-suited for Shattering Storm as well, as at the end Smashing Fury and Pounding Strike combo has a noticeable lag that leaves you vulnerable to other units, but we'll talk about that stance some other time~

 

As for now, I got a few suggestions to polish this weapon. Not exactly going to make it as strong as Jat Kittag, but perhaps could make it good enough to have it being used from time to time. After doing a quick search on Magistar's property of being a flanged mace, I'd say this weapon may very well have the potential to be the sort of well-rounded IPS weapon (equal or almost equal Impact, Puncture and Slash damage).

 

The flanges on Magistar's head suggest that it should be doing more Slash and Puncture damage than it currently does. Hek, why in Malacath's toenail does Fragor; fully box-shaped hammer deals MORE Slash and Puncture damage than Magistar? As of now we don't have any melee weapon that have this sort of well-rounded IPS damage like Seer, Braton or Twin Gremlins, but giving it this property to Magistar would make it a unique melee especially in the Impact-only Hammer class (Sheev was supposedly to be a Slash-Puncture weapon as implied by the description, but oh well).

 

A slight damage buff (to 90?) and reverting the speed nerf along with the change to its damage type (26.6-26.6-26.6 or 30-30-30 IPS damage) could make this weapon shine like a smooth baby butt again.

 

And seeing how the descriptions associates it with "justice and truth", a syndicate augment from either Steel Meridian or Arbiters of Hexis would be schway as well. As DE had the idea of making low-tier weapons at least late game viable with augments (Furis, Skana, Jaw Sword), an augment could be alternative as well if these changes can't be brought to Magistar. Could call it Crushing Justice or Fleeting Truth that increases its attack speed by 60% or something along there.

Well that explains so much.  I tried to use that, got it to 30 and sold it....cuz OMFG was it wwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to goddamn slow to be useful, even with a maxed fury, to damn slow.  I died atleast 2 times waiting for the stupid &#! swinging animation to end....I made the mistake of swinging more then 3 times before moving away.....its like each swing takes like 7 seconds each....

 

WTB Magistar attack speed buff?

Oberon bias but I understand since Magistar NEEDS to be on that guy.

 

Agreed on the speed revert though, not even sure why they got rid of it, even with the relatively low damage, the high crit with a 75% Berserker proc would keep it together with the other heavy weapons.

Well assuming you a Nekros bias you'd like a scythe buff, wouldn't ya? :P K back to Magistar

 

 

But I don't really like the idea of Berserker being a must-have mod on slow crit weapons unless their combos hit several times per E (Ackabrunt, for example as it's currently the only "slow" crit weapon I have Berserker on due to Final Harbinger's combo allow it to hit several times.). Shattering Storm doesn't do justice (ehehe) to this weapon with its lag at the end of each combo.

Magistar looks amazing and i wanted to use it, until i heard people saying how horrendous it was..

 

this weapon looks bad ! and equiping it makes you bad and an !.

 

this weapon def. requires revisit

It WAS amazing till Melee 2.0 came. The only thing that's still good is its aesthetics :/

 

Shame that it had to be a downgraded version of Fragor.

Bumping this.

 

Today I crafted the Magistar thinking that it could've been a decent weapon for a berserker build. Nope.

 

This weapon is a simply complete DOWNGRADE compared to the Fragor, it has just less stats on nearly everything and where it doesn't lose it's just at the same level of the weapon said above.

 

Actually I were expecting an heavy melee with less damage but faster attack speed compared to the other ones, not a mace slower than a giant hammer/axe with garbage tier stats and customization(sadly).

I totally wish they would give it and Galatine that atk speed back.

I'm pretty sure the weapon was originally intended to be a faster than Fragor (at one point it was faster than Jat Kittag too) at the cost ot less damage. But as y'know, sh*t happened in the weapon department...

With the upcoming Hammer skin, I may need to get a hammer for myself, you know, something other than Jat Kittag, bonus points if you can build it for Slash damage. So yeah, buff the Magistar pls.

That's not what I meant. I was saying that I was considering grabbing the Jat Kittag, since, you know, it's arguably the best hammer there is in the game. But if DE pulls off your buffs for the Magistar (giving it equal IPS damage), then I'll be all over it.
