Game Lags When Playing Warframe For A Long Period Of Time

Hey fellow tennos,

I was wondering if anyone can help me solve my issue with lagging. So I've noticed after update 17.11, when I played void missions or other types of missions for a long period of time, my laptop gets really hot and the game starts to lag, to a point where the display just freezes for 5 mins or more. Is this an issue with the game or with my settings in the game itself? I don't know too much about computers and settings within the game to improve performance. I play warframe on my laptop which has 6GB RAM and noticed that when I am in the liset, the memory is at 3.5GB and when I am in a mission its around 5.5 - 5.7. Could someone help me or direct me in fixing this issue?

Thanks for any advice!

There's isn't enough information to point you in any one direction.

It could be heat related. Your CPU, or GPU, will lower it's 'speed' if it starts getting close to a temperature it considers detrimental to its operation. This would result in something akin to the game running like a slideshow.

Or it could be you are running out of RAM, and your system is then swapping data on and off your HDD which is a very slow process in terms of memory latency.

Alternatively, you could actually have a memory leak brought on by something with the game since 6GB is quite a bit of RAM for Warframe itself to be using.

If it's the latter, then you just need to pay attention to everything you do differently over the course of a gameplay session - do you interrupt a hacking sequence, were you looking at a 'thing' for a time etc - and try and catch the reason for your memory to start climbing. If you do catch it, document it, create a thread detailing what you did, and what happened as a result, and DE can sort out a fix for it.

If it is either of the former you would probably need to check what programs you have running in the background, maybe run a virus scan if need be? Try to keep the underside of your laptop well ventilated and it should help with heat.

Adjust your laptop for "best performance", clean your temporary folder and switch back to Windows 95 layout. What may also help is playing in window mode. Hope it helps, did for me. :)

You would need a GPU from '95' itself to resort to those measures.
