Returning To Warframe - Performance Issues

Ever since I came back to Warframe I've been having serious performance issues. I used to run the game just fine. I used to play with medium settings and with some of the more intensive options turned off because it improved my laptop performance and it was much more pleasant for my eyesight. Yes, I used to get some FPS drops, specially on the Void but never to this extent. I'm experiencing frequent FPS drops and I've noticed that I'm getting some kind of micro-stuttering. This is really making my whole experience awful because I'm tired really easily due to the frequent FPS drops and micro-stuttering.

I usually clean my laptop every week. That is not the problem. And I always check my temperatures while playing and they are just fine. In fact, sometimes and I feel that the game is not exactly making good use of my CPU because one of my core is usually noticeably hotter than the rest (something that is usually not the case while playing video games in general). I already used the verify and optimized settings and nothing. I even unparked my CPU and there it changed nothing. I'm guessing that either there is an optimization problem with the latest updates or I'm using settings that are hindering my performance and that were not there during my time. This is really starting to piss me off because I have no problems with other games.

For reference, I'm going to post the settings that I'm using. I have everything checked on the launcher settings except for DX10. On the game settings, I have my native resolution and fullscreen turned on. I used to run with Borderlands Fullscreen but now I get worse performance if I use it. I usually use V-Sync and I have no problems with it. On Warframe, it seems to have no impact on performance. I used to have Local Reflections, High Dynamic Range and Depth of Field turned on, now I get worse performance if I use it as well. I use Anistropic Filtering and low Anti-aliasing like I used to and both settings seem to be the only ones that still have no impact on my performance. Geometry details and Texture Memory are on Medium and Shadows and Particles on low. These remain unchanged ever since I took a break from Warframe.

PC specs (just a reminder that I used to run Warframe considerably well before my break):

WINDOWS 10 64-bit

RAM 6GB

GPU NVIDIA GF 635M 2GB

CPU INTEL I7 3630QM 2.40GHz

Warframe has become somewhat more intensive for some due to PBR, Physcial Based Rendering which makes tilests and everything in general look better. But at a cost of performance. This maybe your problem, as you've not had any issues before, but they has been a flurry of PBR updates to tilesets recently to Grineer and the Void. And as more updates roll out so will the PBR updates as everything will getting the treatment.

You're at abit of a loss here if this is the case and as time passes we'll get better textures etc, but worse performance for you, forcing you to turn down more settings just to get Warframe to run consistently....Don't want to be that guy but you'll need to upgrade eventually if you want to keep running Warframe at decent settings.

I lowered every option and disabled everything but the performance is still really bad. The FPS drops are still there which is not normal because, even though my laptop is not exactly impressive, it should be able to run the game on the lowest possible settings without a problem. Furthermore, the micro-stuttering is still there, specially when I slide which is really weird. I really doubt that this is simply a matter of my laptop not meeting the current system requirements for Warframe. I can be part of the problem, but not the only reason. I think that the worse thing about all this is really the micro-stuttering because it is really bad for my eyesight. I don't actually care if I run Warframe between 50-40 FPS, the micro-stuttering is definitely the biggest problem here.

I'll grant you the PBR isn't that well optimised for lower end systems, especially on Laptops. I noticed micro stuttering on Laptop bout a year ago before I built my current rig. It's obviously a Laptop specific issue maybe CPU, if you haven't submitted a support ticket then you should. Otherwise they isn't much else a I can suggest, good luck.
