Yazeth
Hello. I now that the new Sniper rework just came out, but I want to address something that had instantly bugged me, mainly with the Lanka. When I used the 12x zoom function, it seemed that it was just too much for me to handle, and I instantly became sick with the view. Furthermore, all snipers now have an aim bobble, so the reticle just bounced in different directions, which did not help my stomach at all. I felt that 7x was a bit too much as well, though it was bearable for me. Here are some changes that I would like to see implemented as soon as possible, for the sake of my own health. 1) Reduce the aim bobble. With a high zoom, it just makes me want to puke. It also doesn't really encourage skill shooting, since the bobbing is very random from my observations. The rework was to encourage skilled players to land consecutive shots, but random RNG should not affect that. 2) Make the maximum zoom for all sniper rifles 8-9x. On the Grineer Hijack mission, It was very difficult to aim because the map was not large enough to make good use of a 12x multiplier. I was not used to the huge zoom in and I instantly felt dizzy from using it. Many of the current tiles do not support the 12x zoom at all, and I see no need to have such an option, besides for the bonus critical chance on the Lanka. Those are just my two cents at the moment. What do you guys think about the aim bobble and excessively large zooms?
LazerusKI
I was pretty much disappointed by these changes, i thought that maybe snipers are viable now...but all they got was a minor buff that doesnt make a big difference. The zooming would be nice, in theory...we still have the problem "why do we need zoom, when the rooms are so small?" And now this problem was even enhanced because now high zoom gives a higher bonus, while higher zoom means that you cant see your target because you can only see a tiny spot of the whole room then.Quickscope gameplay then? Not that the bonus values would make any difference at all...i mean...come on...15% more damage? Thats still not enough to compete with other "sniper-like weapons", like Bows or even Opticor. 1) Atleast a key to "hold breath" would be nice, maybe make it so that it enhances the "zoom buff" even further to like...150% increased damage, a value where it makes sense to actually use a sniper instead of a redcrit bow. Hatzeputt
The Lanka gets a + 0.3/0.5 crit chance buff which means..... no more none crit hits, that is a good buff mine hits like a truck, constantly, blowing Vectis P out of the water just be be quick with the zoom in and out. DoomFruit
Wait, they added scope sway? Really?
LazerusKI
Wait, they added scope sway? Really? yeah because our Ninja-Frames that can carry siege weapons and shoot them with pinpoint accuracy develope parkinsons disease when they have to look through a scope...maybe some kind of ptsd?^^ i hope they change that back. the sniper "rework" wasnt that great anyway, but "nerfing" them in the same patch is just silly Edited December 4, 2015 by LazerusKI
Issun135
I'll agree the scope sway could have been left out but I do think the accuracy for "no scope" shots to have poor accuracy so there is still the incentive of having to line up your shots. But I don't think the rework nerfed any of the snipers. It buffed their damage and even on the lowest zoom the Lanka still has a very small chance to red crit. In fact I think the Lanka may be better than the dread or Paris prime at this point. But don't take my word for it though. There is still more testing to be done. Radon086
The new mechanism is good in theory, but is not so helpful in battle. At the end of the day, I still find "sonar + quick snipe without zooming" is the best combination in practice, which means I chose to totally neglect the sniper rework. And to be honest, I think the combo system is very bad. There is no point in forcing yourself keep aiming for head shots. Even the combo starts, the reward is unworthy to maintain, regarding the fact that the combo system mess up your pace considerably.
Petersheikah
They buffed the damage, even thought they already oneshotted. Snipeer Rifles don't need more damage, they need to become more viable and versatile on the battlefield. A x12 damage boost doesn't matter if you have to large groups of enemies. Hell, even pistols deal more damage, Lex prime for example has the advantage that pistols have both crit-mods as primed versions now. the only primed rifle mod we got is Fast Hands, while pistols got heated charge, ammo mutator, slip magazine, pistol gambit and target cracker even shotguns have more with point blank and ravage so far we got 13 Primed Mods, 5 of them are for Pistols, while only one is for rifles...and honestly...who uses a reload speed mod anyway? EDIT: Tested some of my guns a few minutes ago and found something...interesting.
