Warframes are people, that was the entire point of the Sacrifice. And no, I do NOT think that was exclusive to Excalibur Umbra: the Prime trailers make it clear, each and every original Warframe was a tortured political prisoner the Z-Kids had to give a lot of hugs

Yes the vast majority of warframes we have were people. Not everyone retained their consciousness as warframes, that was my point. Yes quite a few actually did, at least at some point, and in fact Mirage was the first we knew about before Umbra.

But still the point is that conscious or not warframe is a biomechanical body horror beneath the armor, and it is easier to imagine them coming fit with a reanimation system. Especially as we literally stitch them together from pieces.

But Orokin and Tenno are for the most part just human. And where for Orokin it makes sense to maybe have some kind of advanced emergency revive, Tenno were literally lowest class people before the whole mess happened.

And regarding the Second Dream, yeah, this makes it kind of stupid. Imagine if Stalker finally killed the Tenno for good by literally pulling the mind behind warframes out of its hiding spot and strangling it to death... and then they came back anyways because Eternalism. But with where the story is currently, it suggests that's exactly what would've happened. But I guess Hunhow was as clueless of this as almost everyone else was.

That leads me to my main problem with this theory, that is how comes Ballas died for good? And to that I don't have a real answer. Perhaps his shiny new amalgam bits made him unable to interact with Void. Or the fact that Natah sucked all his life out of him literally has to do something, idk.

Short story even shorter, the Revives we use in gameplay exist in canon. Or at least they did in 2014 when the quest was written. If they are still canon, then Ballas just held X and spent a revive after being stabbed by Karris. The Mirage quest also mentions it's possible to prevent Revives from working, either by jamming the system somehow or atomizing the corpse

Idk, I always assumed revive systems are something used on warframes exclusively, "I'm surging your warframe systems" and all that. I mean warframes are little more than corpses anyways, most of them don't even have consciousness. To reanimate an infested biodrone by who knows what kind of life support system implanted into it seems much easier than a full-fledged Orokin dude.

And besides our Operator sure didn't have a revive system when they were shishkebabbed by Ballas.

Currently the multiverse/eternalism in Warframe only exists to:

    A) explain where the Drifter comes from, and

    B) explain why consoles and PC used to have different relays after the Eyes of Blight event

I would add to that one more important thing it explains: Orokin immortality.

There are actually two distinct forms of Orokin immortality. The first is the Continuity and it was explained pretty thoroughly over the course of the story. It is the one where not to die of old age (or otherwise) an Orokin would drink Kuva which would allow them to transfer consciousness into a body of another person.

The other one however is much more strange, that is the one which happens in the Cephalon fragments. And also seems to be what the game loosely uses to explain respawn mechanic in Operator only quests. And in this case what happens is the person in question dies... and then they just don't. They suddenly just standing there as if nothing happened.

Where the Continuity is shown to take between minutes and hours, this thing happens in an instant. Ballas and all executors had their necks snapped in a split second by who we now know as Ordis, and then they just essentially respawned like it was a CoD match or something.

And of course this all made no sense before the New War. But in the New War that's exactly what happened to the Operator. They died but then they were alive. Ballas was very intimately familiar with this immortality thing as well, hence his little sending the devil back to hell speech. He seemed to be aware he could only hope to delay eventual return of the Tenno.

While this case of immortality was attempted to be explained somewhat without Eternalism previously, truthfully the explanation usually resorted to calling it Void magic. Eternallism on the other hand explains it in a more systematic way, by making it less of a strange gimmick and more deriving it from the Void's universal properties.

only issue I'm aware of with that one is it translates capital i to p

Yea, that's why I didn't use it, cause I remembered Corpus doesn't change vowels and I saw it change i into p. And it also doesn't capitalize.

Anyway, I want this thread to be transformed into Confusing Corpus Copypasta Collection for a little while, so I'll continue with this one.

  7. Idk, I suppose it is wasteful in public hunts. Maybe those players are doing the same they do when solo hunting where it isn't wasteful but instead is an actually useful course of action.

Just type in chat for them not to do that I suppose.

  8. I get what you mean, you're referring to the vocal part of City of Tears and the synth part of the Undercroft. And while yeah, they are similar in some way, I believe the possibility of it being a coincidence is very high.

First of all both melodies are very simple, consisting of only 4 notes for the Undercroft and 5 for City of Tears, much more possible to sound similar than something more elaborate, like idk Vala Glarios theme.

Second, both of them seem to be variations on other respective leitmotiffs rather than their own things.

The Undercroft synths play a variant of Duviri theme, like the one you hear when you receive a Decree, or even more similarly, vocals in Duviri battle theme.

City of Tears vocals are to my mind nodding to the Pale King theme, which you can hear in the White palace, played by woodwinds, or in Soul Master theme choir part as well as a couple other places I don't remember right now.

So they both have their own separate evolution paths which are unique to their respective games, which is why I believe this to be a coincidence.

Edit: in retrospect I'm not actually sure if that part in the Undercroft theme is synth or some very distorted string instrument, but I hope it's clear what I was talking about.

  9. Dear Lotus what have you made me witness?!

There she is in all her dwarven glory!

Notice the bulging eyes and complete absence of neck - that's what long term Void exposure makes to you.

To answer this I have to ask: what was Void Blast for in the first place? Everyone else I've talked to, all they did with it was open crates slightly more efficiently, and all I could think of to do with it was experiment with ragdoll physics

As far as I remember Void Blast was both a form of quick CC which dropped enemies on the ground, and also had a similar function to present day abilities, like it created Unairu Wisps or Vazarin shields, etc.

I don't really see how debating its usefullness justifies its removal. Its lack of use as a damage source came from the fact that it dealt almost no damage (duh). But instead of reworking its damage it got removed completely. So instead of low melee potential Operator got zero melee potential, which isn't what is expected from a rework.

Yes. The Model outside is 1:1 until the Arsenal. After that? Something big is missing.

This is what is in Drifter's camp:

The green part is where Helminth/Quarters/Transference Chamber would be.

Damn the Orbiter is even more of a Lego ship than I thought. So it kinda hints on possible Orbiter customization then?

But wait, Eidolon Lotus was sitting in the Somatic Link chair in the Transferense room. How comes it wasn't attached?

Weapons are bigger in Warframe's hands, that they are in human's hands. Something about orbiter being bigger inside, than outside (I'm not even joking).

My Chakhurr literally shrinks when I reload it. It's all space magic.

Wait did someone actually measure the Orbiter in the Drifter Camp and compared it to its insides and it ended up being smaller?

I’ll bet you 500p that even with the incarnon adapter, there will be at least 20 regular secondary weapons which will be better 😉

This may very well be true, yea. But the point is that it won't be "Funny ha-ha, garbage weapon drops from Stalker with abysmal chance", but more like "Hey why do I need to spend multiple months trying my luck at Stalker rng to get those fun incarnon knives?"

Can't say who's right in this situation though, and I'm not against some good weapons being hidden behind layers of rng, but a lot more people will certainly be pissed at Despair and Hate very soon.

  14. Assuming you mean decrees, you have generally two options, either ranged or melee, and then inside those you can specialize, either normal or heavy attack for melee and either fast shot or charged shot for Sirocco.

I personally never built for heavy melee attack, but for the other archetypes you can look for specific effects on decrees which work well.

For regular Sirocco shot (you usually open with a charged one anyways, but then continue firing regular). Everything which says "for each shot", like Persisrent Attrition is recommended, also reload on roll, and then just take ones which doesn't specify melee or ranged, like Close Contagion, or Critical Frost in combination with Shattering Frost.

For charged Sirocco, you wil usually shoot once, then reload and aim for the head. So take Duelist's Advantage, Ranger's Reload, Between the Eyes, Bombastine's Malice. (Keep in mind Duelist's Advantage doesn't work for bows)

For regular melee it is ideal to oair it with movement speed to make use of sliding attacks. So take Fleet-footed,  Majestic Strike, Royal Wrath, Luscinia's suffering combined with Shattering Frist, etc. Most melee related ones work great.

Those are just general tips, ones which I remembered of the top of my head. The general rule I go by is to take decrees based on my warframe and weapons first, Drifter second, cause what you're really preparing for is the Undercroft. Drifter can make use of whichever playstyle you throw at them, warframe can't. So if you got your charged shot Stropha, you build for heavy melee, and if you got Soma P you build for fast firing ranged, etc.

How crappy must your existence be that you voluntarily play something you aren't satisfied with?

I feel I should comment on this specifically. And don't get me wrong I'm not defending any other Felsagger's points here (mainly because I'm not bothered to read through walls of text of varying degree of coherency), but this one I will.

Why would I personally play something I am not satisfied with? Well because everything else is even worse. In a game industry where the prime motivator for a company to release and support a game is their profits, the chances of getting a game you truly enjoy with no conditions applied are practically non-existant.

Do I enjoy Warframe? Partly. I enjoy some parts of it, I hate other. Do I play it? Hell yeah, cause there isn't any game doing what Warframe's doing any better. In fact they're mostly much worse. Doesn't make Warframe a great game.

My gaming preferences aren't that much of preferences, as they are choosing the lesser evil. And I am sure thus applies to most people in one way or another.
