  1. My page file is locked at 1GB and set to a mechanical hard drive which spends 90%+ of it's time spun down. I have enough RAM that I don't think it even gets used.

Windows will always use the pagefile to some extend no matter the size of physical RAM installed. It's hardcoded into the memory management system to work like that. Some other internal stuff of Windows like SuperFetch as well as others rely on the paging too. That's one of the reasons why one should never consider turning off the paging completely as it might cause some awkward and unexpected behavior beside the obvious program/system crashes if you run out of RAM.

But if your SSD isn't that old you could leave the pagefile on the SSD anyways... as long as the computer doesn't have to work from the pagefile 24/7 (hence having enough physical RAM) it won't really add to the SSD weardown. At least not noticeably.

  2. So are Elytron parts even awarded from Caelus anymore?

I've got 6 or 7 T4 keys there now, including 2 from the 8-round session I just did, and not a single Elytron part.

Same here. Got T4 keys when I tried to prove myself wrong about "it's too wasteful when trying solo" yesterday and this morning.

The droptables are pretty much rigged. Don't even try. I think it's safe to say that in about 2-3 months from now the droptables will drown us in Elytron parts like as if it's a miracle. But currently they are manipulated in a way to encourage people to buy that crap with Platinum.

  3. Credits may be small power cells. It seems fitting a currency shared by warring sides would be power.

Well I doubt that... since both factions have actual power cells and it's like the mean nothing to them when carrying them around for every Tenno to pick up... see the Excavations.

Otherwise, they may be used to purchase other, smaller, less significant parts in the crafting of these weapons.

Actually that would make the most sense.

I thought about that too, but then again we are living a hard inflation of costs. Because back at the times before we had the Liset we surely had to pay some credits for either a smith to build that stuff manually or to rent their machinery. At least I doubt they did it for free back then.

  4. So I have come to think about something lately:

Before we had the Liset I thought the Credits used to craft our items in the foundry are to pay the weaponsmiths or something back at the Tenno-headquarters to forge our stuff like Weapons, Warframes and pretty much all the other gear.

But now that we have the Liset and Ordis is pretty much forging it before our very own non-existent eyes directly on the Liset... what are the credits actually used for?

To pay Ordis? If so then he's one greedy bastard and I always knew that there's something foul about him. xD

I'm not saying that the credits should be removed since I've too much anyways, but actually I'm quite interested in where all the money goes... ^^

  5. It looks like my first attempt at making a custom Myspace profile page. That is not in the least bit a compliment. I had S#&$ taste back then.

I know exactly what you mean.

When using white background then NEVER have any shades of light grey or any other light colors to acompany that. It just looks terrible and creates eyestrain to no end.

With White Backgrounds only Black, Dark grey, dark red or dark green or dark blue works really fine... anything that at least has a darker tone to it. ^^

  6. Wow... Stare for an hour at the new design and you risk becoming snowblind.

The color decisions are just unbearable.

It looks like the decision was made by someone either not looking into the forum for more than a few minutes a day or by someone with a broken monitor screen. There's no other explanation as to why somebody would choose plain #FFFFFF white as background all while making some of the texts, borderings and other stylistic elements light grey at the same time so it stresses your eyes even more if you actually want to read something.

My suggestion would be... make ALL text at least black that is not already black or red.

Give the borderings some other darker color instead of light grey or get rid of them alltogether and make them only 1 pixel width black outlines or something. As it stands now the light grey borders play with your pretty eyes bad.

Use Light grey for the background of quotes and make the text there black as well. It's looking dumb to have black text on white background for everything else and quotes being White text on dark grey background. It looks inconsistent and adds to the eyestrain when your eyes have to adapt to strong contrasts while scrolling through the forum.

    [edit]

Oh by the way: Half the text without it's own background box is blending in with the too colorful warframe-background. This goes for both the lightgrey text for page numbers as well as the red text to switch to the next topic and also the "directory pointer".

  7. Repel cost 100 energy now. So... goodbye archwing missions for now to me.

    Pretty much.

I gave up on the Uranus thing 2 weeks ago already. I made it once to Wave 8 when a bunch of randoms, including AdFinitum and me came up with the "stick together & repell" strategy without using any restores at all but that's about it. Eversince most people just don't even want to listen at the start of a mission. Most people just ragequit out of the game and that's it.

Recruiting somebody is like begging to fail already because even if you say "maxed out <xy>" they are just going to ignore that and still want an invite and then rage quit out of the game like all the other randoms not knowing how to deal with the Uranus bullcrap. Either that or the people responding to the recruitment are like "stop the elitist recruting crap", pretty much discouraging you to even look for people who want to do it seriously. ^^

Solo is just too expensive on Energy/Health Restores so I don't even bother with that in the first place.

With other words... Elytron... will remain pretty much the thing nearly nobody owns, this time because DE just doesn't give a crap about the fact that it's too hard for 95% of the playerbase and probably even 90% of the Veterans. It's just a piece of content like Hydroid that is locked behind an insane wall they don't want you to overcome and even if you are able to it's totally NOT worth it so you don't feel accomplished about it at all because neither Hydroid nor Elytron are something that's outstanding to justify the grind/difficulty. ^^

  8. actually they can escape... and one that escape automatically fails a mission (happend twice to me and friend

also we have situation with bridge as well but he was screaming in exacly same way when captured.

it was like -"hey what the f? where is the target?" -"he felt of that ice bridge....." -"okeeeeeeeey"<confused>

Yeah, It's not impossible for them to esacpe, but several times the map was generated in a way the targets couldn't deal with it and didn't know how to advance to their escape points so it was easy to catch up with them if they ever made it that far at all. Most of them got stuck at their spawn point anyways because they spawned right into an obstacle or with half their body being in the ground.

Well somehow the one time the target fell down together with the bridge the scream was different than the others... also it didn't count as being "captured" so we only got one point instead of 2... so now I've 33 instead of the 34 I should have. :D

  9. i just cant wrap my head around all of the syndicates in the same space like that. It makes them look like a bunch of LARPers.

Would be funny if they'd trigger some ridiculous fights in the bar with the Tennos randomly joining the brawl.

    tumblr_m8h49yQl8R1qddbrs.gif

But that's something only to dream about. ^^

  10. +1 for OP

When I read about the "scaling fix" of the Sugatras I went all like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Because dat oversized dangly bits looked so awesome on my overly bloomy prime-bling-bling Ember I'm never going to use in any mission because it's too ridiculous. xD

    10264023_402854479870465_780224289283930

They fit so well with the Misa Prime Syandana... and now the dangly bits are like so small i don't even notice they are there. -_-

Bottom line: A scale slider would be perfect. :>

  11. ... well I'm looking forward to the hubs.

That said I hope they won't be as laggy as the mustache dojo party yesterday.

But I guess all depends on if the bottleneck is the network/internet bandwidth or if the bottleneck is the computational power of your CPU or Graphicscard.

If the bottleneck is the Bandwidth... then the dedicated servers they are going to rent for the Hubs will probably ease the pain, because the Dojo Party was really stresstesting the P2P networking.

If the bottleneck is the CPU/Graphicscard... well then we are pretty much doomed. There's not much that can be done about that other than brute force culling of stuff that's out of the view (which I assume the engine is already doing anyways so it's about optimizing the complete rendering process), having a LoD (level of detail) system for stuff that's in view and preventing players from using bullcrap like the starbursts etc. and other ridiculous stuff that may impact the needed rendertime negatively.

  12. I think it is okay as it is now. Most people except some powerplayers won't be able to hit the cap anyways.

    - Before that the progress was so slow that most casual players wouldn't have gotten anywhere before 2020 or something, and that's almost a fact if they liked it or not. So many people would have become burned out before even reaching a goal.

    - Before that many of the Veteran players were all like "another grind that takes hundreds of hours for mediocre rewards? Meh."... eventually leading to the Viver-fiasco because they were looking for a way around the slow progress they didn't feel like doing in the first place.

    - Now there's a daily cap and it is dependend on Mastery Rank, so newer players can't rush it all way to the end and finally have an additional reason to get their MR up. Something that has been overdue for months if not a year already.

    - Now Veteran players have an advantage over newer players and are able to progress faster through that system so they can't really complain "don't feel like doing the grind anymore."

    - Now multiple other missions also became a reliable source to farm Reputation, not only Viver (while there's no doubt that Viver is still the fastest one) thereby fixing the need to rebalance Warframes/Gamemodes as a side effect.

    - Now the whole system isn't as punishing anymore... in terms of locking yourself in with a Syndicate preventing you to go the other way because it would take forever to change sides.

    - The only real difference now is that 24/7 farmers won't be able to hurt the economy as much anymore. The uncontrolled Viver-fiasco created a huge gap between newer/casual players and Veterans/Elitists when looking at the overall game economy. Now through the cap the gap can be controlled much better.

    - The only real advantage the 24/7 farmers have is that they will probably be able to do less missions, gaining their cap faster than most other people not playing Viver, which is ultimatively less grind. Which is like rewarding "smart" gameplay. Weren't we all asking exactly for THAT? Less grind that's exactly the same grind we were doing before Syndicates became a thing?

It's pretty much confirmed that it is no "endgame"-feature anyways rather than a foundation for other features that will build upon that, as DE_Steve has said on the Developer Workshop thread. So it is a progression and it shouldn't punish players who have been investing 2 years of gameplay already, which are already on the brink of burnout.

The only thing I see up for discussion is probably if the cap should be per Syndicate or an overall cap including all Syndicates like it is now.

And for the rest... give it another 3 weeks and we will see if it causes another landslide or not. At least it gave me a reason to give it a try because of how I couldn't be arsed to do the grind before the 15.2.1+15.2.2 changes.

  13. It's just like any other Capture mission.

    With the exception:

    - Sniper Crewmen, Corpus Techs and every second of them being an Energy Leech Eximus, loads of them. Can't avoid them, so stealth is out of question

    - Capture target having 3 Ospreys that need to be taken down first

    - The tileset being a little bit buggy/messy so the Capture target will probably never get away because they can't find a way out, get stuck or fall into oblivion.

I had the later one happen in of my runs... the target got stuck on one of the collapsing ice/snow bridges and fell to his doom. My squadmates and I laughed all the way until the extraction point. Wish we would have taken a screenshot of that. xD

  14. I'd like to note the IDA used to be a very popular tactic of his while you were trying to get down to see him.

Depends... I usually give him a few seconds to see what he is going to do before I decide to charge in.

If he uses his IDA immediately I take cover and afterwards I charge in because he's not the ultimate spammer.

If he uses his sonic boom I also charge in because that skill prevents him from using his IDA altogether.

If he doesn't do anything that's when things get risky, but then I normally let him come to me so he pretty much defuses himself.

There seems to be a cooldown to his abilities and those give you enough time to go in. But I can't remember anymore if they were much shorter last year than they are now. ^^

There are exceptions that render everything much easier:

Normally I'm not a rusher, but for Phorid missions I try to be under the first 2 people to arrive in the boss arena, because that gives you plenty of time to move in to where Phorid is supposed to spawn, so you are directly next to him after the cutscene and he never gets a chance to use his IDA at all. Also gives you time to get rid of all the other trash mobs like Disruptors and Toxic Ancients which may become ugly, depending on their level.

When there's other allied AI in the boss arena battling with other Infested Trash mobs, especially at the spawn location then it's also safe to move in because mostly Phorid will focus on your AI allies instead of you, also preventing him to use his IDA.

That said, in my early days when I did not have much experience with the game in general I got quite nervous when he started using his Sonic-Breaker thing... and because of fear I moved further away from him and that got me killed more often than not.

So ever since I don't fear to give my doggie a big hug I never die anymore. xD

  15. Looks good so far. ^^

Gives people an additional reason to get their Mastery Ranks up, which was something people were arguing about anyways, since many people don't see any reason to go beyond MR 8-10. ^^

Any details on the sigil multiplicators yet? Are they going to be the "negligible" thing DE_Steve mentioned on the last devstream or has the overall opinion changed on the matter?

Also is the cap counted per Syndicate or all Syndicates combined?

  16. Not entirely sure what you meant by your "noobest boss" thing, but I would like to point out, at the time that his epic battle happened, Phorid featured an instant-death(for tenno, at least) attack with a 200m range, and an unblockable radial stun AoE attack that had around 350m range, as well as an instant KD stomp/charge attack.

Phorid never triggers the Instant-Death attack when there are enemies close range to him so Prod Crewmen never had to fear that one, only cowardly Tenno thinking they are safer keeping their distance. It's a beginner's trap. ^^

The other two attacks can become quite ugly though if you let yourself get hit on purpose when going in melee range... BUT that's what made Prodman a legend. He tanked it all the way. xD

That's why my tactic is going close range doing tight circles around him as Phorid becomes totally helpless and can't do anything as he tries to follow you all the time but can't catch up with his attacks. :P

  17. If our Warframes have to deal with LoS then the enemies should have to deal with that sort of stuff as well. Would only be fair.

That said I'm in general no friend of LoS stuff because of how some of the abilities become absolutely worthless on the Warframes. Some of them are already underwhelming both in Crowd Control as well as Damage output and with LoS they are pretty much only there so the enemies can laugh about us before bashing our Warframe skulls in.

Has someone posted this on the Developer Workshop thread already?

  18. I think I got it twice over the course of the past year. Definitely once where also bought some Plat, but I think there was another time too where I did not take the advantage.

This year I haven't logged in every day like I used to last year, but never got above the 50% mark.

So the trick with logging in every second day or less doesn't work to well at all or I only had bad luck this year. On the other hand I don't need more Plat anyways... My days of spending money on Warframe are over. ^^

  19. While pressing 4 to win was always an easy way around some of the gameplay aspects... but in all honesty:

Viver and the Warframe abilities weren't a problem before the lackluster Syndicate Repfarming was a thing.

Before the Reputation system nobody gave two cents about Viver. And even if Viver as well as several Warframe abilitities get changed, as well as the Interception mode and the devil knows what... people will still find another spot to farm the reputation and exploit/abuse other Warframes and other tricks. It's a neverending cycle until everything gets nerfhammered but the actual source of the problem is allowed to remain.

It's basically the fact that many people, especial the Veterans can't be arsed for the grind anymore and they have all the gear and stuff to find a way around the uncreative, uninspired and boring reputation grind.

It's basically how the Reputation system works that is causing all the trouble we didn't have before that was a thing.

So my advice is... just work on another way to gain reputation... make it mission based instead of affinity based... whatever... there are like 10-15 threads out there on how to deal with the syndicates & reputation problem in the first place and stuff like Viver, as well as the Warframe abilities would be fixed as a side effect of them.

Changing the Warframes was definitely no good idea because that rendered some of them lackluster again

Changing the Interception gamemode was no good idea because of how it affects even Solo gameplay as well as completely unrelated Archwing gameplay which was near to impossible to accomplish already on Uranus before the 15.2 update and now leaves you in an even worse spot because the Grineer have all the advantages thanks to the new rules that are applied on a global scale

Also there are several other problems like the massive imbalance in the economy thanks to how some people made tons of Platinum of the issue and it will continue to be like that when people find other farmspots if the general problem (the reputation grind) is not fixed, creating an even larger gap between elitists/veterans and casual players.

How's that huge gap that has been created over the past two weeks going to be dealt with?

At least I'm quite surprised that the discussion in the developer workshop like I adviced in other threads... at least... works somehow, even if there are still quite a lot people letting some steam off.^^

  20. DX12 meanwhile isn't out, it'll be a while, and it's unlikely to work in Windows 7 though MS hasn't confirmed either way.  It's also likely to go through the same teething issues Mantle is right now.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_3OAD-Dhs0#t=20m00s

Somewhere shortly after 20 minutes mark Richard Huddy (a guy from AMD) basically states/confirms that DX12 is not going come for Windows 7. The update is from yesterday but I expected it already some months back, basically when Microsoft announced DX12 I already knew it wasn't going to come to Windows 7 because it is pretty much a marketing strategy to make people move from Windows 7 to something newer. ^^

So that basically confirms that only Windows 10 will get the full DX12 featureset, while Windows 8.1 will get only a reduced one (because they are working on a reduced set too and there would be no other place to use that one other than Windows 8.1) and WIndows 7 will get nothing at all.

  21. - how do you think to recover the gap just created between those players who farmed Viver 24/7 till now and those who didnt?

That's the question of all questions. How are they going to fix the massive imbalance the whole mess has caused the past 2 weeks?

There are people making ridiclous amounts of Plat out of that issue... at several times the magnitude than the Legendary Core scandal earlier this year.

The economy of the game is basically screwed to be honest when there are people selling weapon/warframe augment mods with 500-1000+ Platinum per Mod.

I'm not even jealous about it... I've enough Plat of my own (nope did not run Viver at all) but still... urgh.. the thought alone is just ugly. Almost as bad as Diablo 3 auction house has been in the late days.

  22. I've my popcorn as well as some other salty stuff ready ever since the Wednesday hypethread yesterday. I've enough backup to get through the entire next month until we get our Christmas presents, which is much likely more grind (looking at you, Focus System!).

De will probably dodge the questions all together anyway

Most likely, but at least I expect that they will try to play down the issue.
