  1. Also there seems to be an Alpha problem with the Founder sigils... even when I put the slider to "No transparacy" it is basically near to invisible when used with bright colors because of how it takes on the colors below the sigil. ^^

If I place it on background colors where I can actually see the sigil it actually looks quite nice... better than the badge. ^^

  2.

    Stalker/Miniboss Changes:

    • Stalker will now activate lockdown when he Spawns.

    Well nice.

Just imagine you becoming trapped in one of the 2m² loot rooms when he shows up.

No prison-shower scene ever shown in a movie will come close to what happens to your Warframe then.

Should make for one nice Yuikami comic eventually.

  3. During invasions when my allied Skum grineer insult me. The F man? I'm helping you out here so at least keep your mouth shut.

    That.

I don't know if they are supposed to insult us or if they are trying to insult the Corpus but don't have unique lines for that.

I want to hear something like "GREEEEEEDYYYY MIIIIIILK!". That'd be awesome for once.

Also Nekros' default helmet. I swear I can't stand it. Not a single second and I'm tempted to Alt+F4 out of the game everytime I see one. ^^

  4. I want you to name 1 online game that isn't repetitive

Pretty much any strategy game or any games that actually require skill to beat the opponents rather than relying on doing the same mission a thousand times until you earned enough XP/levelups or had the luck to drop better items to overcome the virtual challenge being offered.

    So you name it.

I've played a lot of shooter and strategy games from the early 90s and they are still less repetitive in online matches than what grindgames of this decade have to offer. This even incorporates pixel-mess like Classic Doom.

  5. If the gameplay is pointless to you then it's no one's fault.  If something isn't fun then it's not the dev's fault.  You're the one making the pointless bashes about how you don't find the game itself fun.

I guess one could hand a blank sheet of paper to you and you'd find that fun as well?

Hey! You can talk crap about Warframe but if you start talking crap about Diablo 3 then I'm going to rip your lips off

Welp, are you trying to threaten me here?

I could start explaining why Diablo 3 is a piece of crap and deserves the low user ratings it got but I guess I don't have to, to startle somebody as low tempered as yourself. /sarcasm

  6. If it will be anything like the other additions to the game... then yes eventually Archwing will end up on the back burner.

So I think that Archwing will remain the focus for the next bigger updates like U15.5, maybe U16 in late December, but at least until J3 Golem will be released and after that it will be pretty much it for Archwing for a long time because of how the dev-team will announce new projects which they will be working/focusing on for 2015.

At least it has been like that for all of the major additions that happened throughout the last year, like Invasions, Dark Sectors, Melee 2.0, Kubrows, etc. ^^

  7. While the basic mechanics for Archwing may be a good foundation...

    • lacks mission variety, only grineer/corpus exterminates, corpus sabotage and grineer interception
    • lacks weapon and mod variety, basically suffers the same problems we have with damage 2.0 by just slapping more damage mods on the weapons
    • lacks enemy variety, for example most of the corpus enemies are just rescaled and recolored ospreys
    • navigation is horrible in the asteroid tilesets and one gets lost quite often because the UI hasn't been updated to aid 3D space combat at all
    • One can't make 360° vertical turns with the mouse because of how the camera rotation probably still thinks we are in 2D space. Just one ugly oversight that makes 3D space combat just awkward because of how we have to fight stuff above and below us
    • enemy balancing sucks, especially Hellions, but that's an old hat.
    • Warframe defense/durabillity re-balancing to counter the missing roles is non existent

Especially the Warframe balancing is a serious problem for me, because everything that's not Saryn/Frost/Rhino level of defense capabilities falls short in that game mode because of how the Archwing defense is completely dependent on Warframe defense capabilities, but without carying over the unique roles each Warframe inhabits.

So damage-dealer/crowd-control frames like Banshee, Nyx, Ember etc are basically only half the durability compared to Rhino/Frost and are thereby for suicide missions like the Uranus Interception a complete no-go.

Basically everyone is forced to use the same bland Archwing abilities to keep enemies at bay but with the difference that at least 1/3 of the Warframes are at a complete defense disadvantage, 1/3 are medium and the only Warframes at advantage are the tanky ones.

They really should have thought about carrying over at least 1 or 2 of the Warframe abilitities (with modifications of course) into the gamemode to remain the unique roles each Warframe inhabits and also because it would be probably more fun if there would be more varied roles.

Otherwise the balancing of the game mode just sucks.

The other issues I mentioned are pretty self-explanatory and there are some other problems I didn't write about because bugs and dumb AI is probably stuff they are going to fix anyways.

If one is to ignore all the above problems then it is actually quite fun... but I don't know if it will be able to live up to the fleshed-out regular combat we were be doing before Archwing was a thing. Only time will tell.

  8. I understand there are more weapons than the soma or boltor prime. I have over 700 hours in the game. I didnt want to name every single one. My point is the options do become limited at a certain point and there should be more availability of high powered weapons to higher leveled players. And for all the people that are "sick of the grind"....smh...that's the whole point of games like these. Putting in work to achieve a goal. Whether it be farming for parts, resources, or trying to gain experience. Whats the point if you get exactly what you are looking for the very first try? There is no excitement or sense of acomplishment. With over 700 hours you will still see a fist pump when i get a scindo blade on a T3MD. Thats the point of grind.

True to some point... but I stopped feeling accomplished somewhere about 800 hours. At that point I started to realize that I've got nearly everything but there's nothing where I can use that stuff on other than to do the same thing I've been already doing all along.

So the greed for items will hold you over as long as you don't have them - that is if you don't get burned out with the grind/rng before that already. But after that Warframe falls short because there's no golden pot at the end of that rainbow once you made it through the storm. ^^

It's a problem many greed/item based games suffer from... but Warframe especially because there it is "relative" easy to get to the end of the masochism that is item greed because of how items have fixed stats. Games that have random item stats never truly have an end but that will lead to people leaving the game because they realize how there's no end and no way to take a shortcut.

  9. What possible purpose could playing a videogame serve?

Are you looking for story?  Well, you know that story is the most labour-intensive things for developers to make, and only really huge development teams can produce content at any decent rate.  Even then, it gets swallowed up pretty quickly.

The only kind of content that's inherently endless is sandbox content that players make for themselves - i.e. they interact to create the "stories" in the games, the devs just provide sand for the sandbox (things-to-do in the sandbox).

But this isn't that type of game, it's not an MMO, it's just a third-person shooter.  What more can you expect from it?

For me, Warframe is always on my comp, sometimes I don't play it for ages, but the gameplay is intrinsically fun enough that I always get a hankering for it after a week or two, and give it a few hours, or days, or sometimes a week, then I get bored with it again.

What's wrong with that type of game?  If it serves the purpose of entertaining me now and then, job done.

(Note: that's not to say I wouldn't like to see it expand, because I think the art and lore are cool, and I'd love to see it expand into a "proper" sandbox MMO eventually.  But that may or may not happen, but even if it does happen, it will take a long time.)

So I basically know that they don't have the manpower to crank something up like other gamecompanies do in their games.

I don't really need storyline that's at the magnitude of a Lord of the Rings book or whatever.

But at least something that shows me that the Warframe universe is evolving and that the Tenno are not only there to make a profit of keeping things as they are. Been doing that for long enough already and I want to see a change in flavor for once. I want to be given reason why I should fight for a damn Syndicate other than straight subpar rewards that I don't really need anyways or will only settle dust upon because they will lose their value soon.

But Koed basically gets me here:

I can see where both you and Medusalem are coming from, but if I were to guess, I'd say that Medusalem is just disappointed. I think this game has soooo much potential to reach higher hights. Not in terms of story, but in terms of what it does best and is already doing. Fun, fast paced, customizable, frantic, ninja and wizard powered 3rd person shooter action (DE, u can buy that sentence from me). But damnit we need more! You are asking what reason it needs? Well, what if all the grinding for the best loot, and all the formadding was neccesary to an extent, to beat a certain mission/raid? What if there was a lot more focus on leaderboards for endless content such as T4surv? (Longest run with names on navigation, front page, or somewhere else) - would people find prestige in reaching the top? What if PvP became a focus, and the grind was leading up to that.

All Im saying is, that I get Medusalem. It's a very unimaginative approach to the game, to just keep adding more stuff to the game, and expect players to find their own amusement in grinding for it. Even Steve said in a dev stream recently, that he knows, that high rank players basically just get the new stuff, and that it kind of is their end game at this point.

What is all the boring-*ss grind good for?

Why should I get all the items when all they are going to do is lose value fast and cover up in dust in my inventory?

Why should I keep on playing the same repetitive missions over and over when I know it doesn't serve any purpose?

How should I feel attached to my character or the Warframe universe or in this case to a Syndicate when it doesn't even remotely matter if I'm there or not?

I will quote myself from another thread dealing with basically the same problem:

They could have at least tried to make the Syndicates become what has been called "Proxy Wars".

They could have at least tried to come up with something like a dynamic faction/syndicate war-system where Syndicates are ganging up on each other or try to make others fight each other while not getting involved themselves which may end up in a full scale (cold-)war between Syndicates and/or the Factions behind them.

Where alliances are made and broken up every once in a while so that you don't lock yourself in completely when going for one syndicate. With unique offers from allied syndicates that are only valid as long as they are allied so you get a chance to gear/stock up on the stuff the other Syndicates are offering as well without having to redo ALL the reputation from square one.

With the outcome of those weekly/monthly wars affecting the entire solar system and redistributing the powers and borders between factions and Syndicates on the Solar Chart, most of it being influenced by the Tenno who work as mercenaries for the respective Syndicates.

It could have been tied in to some extend with the existing Invasion system that lost appeal months ago as well as adding/expanding on it with some new mission types as well.

If the rank up system and the sacrifices would have been part of something like that which would serve a greater purpose... well then it wouldn't be completely a braindead grind that serves no purpose other to gain items. Then it would actually matter who you want to support because it will heavily influence the outcome on the solar chart. But as it stands now... I can't be bothered other than to screw them all over eventually until I get all the items I want and then never care again if I really give a sh*t in the first place.

Anything beyond the same old "grind for items"-trick would have been nice. Anything that would have given the thing more purpose. Anything that would have at least tried to cover up the "grind" partially.

But not only "grind for items" and nothing beyond that.

I watched the Livestream on Friday and when I heard from Steve's mouth that he doesn't want that people are doing the stuff only for the items (Sigils but also mods etc) but rather because they should feel attached to the Syndicates they are supporting.... then why the hell didn't they think of ANYTHING that goes beyond the stupid items in the first place?

I just can't understand it. I really want to but I can't. Why did they make it just another bunch of grindwalls that don't serve any purpose, that doesn't give the players a reason to want to play that stuff in a year from now? That will lead to people demanding more in a few months already because they got through that grindmadness? Why... what... why?

It just blows my mind on so many levels that at one hand they want to give people purpose and at the other hand they release something that doesn't have purpose.

  10. This post is just another example of people letting themselves suffer in what they call 'grind.'

If you're taking it the grind way, it will be a grind doing the same thing all over again and again for hours and days.

I see people repeating what's given every update and be bored super fast and complain.

But you see, I spend only my night time to play or mornings on weekends, because I have work and school.

Just casually, I have been playing since U10 and it's never really been grindy, because I play for only few hours a week.

Look, DE isn't expecting you to spend all your free time on Warframe and give feedbacks, whether they want you to or not.

Why do you have to take it to the limit and go for the contents in a nonstop fashion? Relax and have fun in game, every month we have new contents. What's the deal with people playing so much to the point they don't want to play but still grind? Why suffer that way?

It's your choice to repeat for hours and days because no one is forcing you to rush your way up to the highest rank in the syndicate.

Sometimes, I feel like some people REALLY don't have a life and other games. Seriously.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grinding_%28video_gaming%29

Grinding: It stands for repetitive, uninteresting, uncreative and uninspired gameplay.

No matter the amount of time you spend on the game (if it is 1 hours a day or 1 hour a month) it doesn't change the bare fact that it is the exact same bullcrap of gameplay that it has been before (so nothing new actually) but now with some additional layers you have to overcome that feel like being patched in a 10 minutes procedure.

Eventually it will become friggin boring if it isn't right from the beginning. You only do the same bland stuff over and over and over like we have been doing before.

I can't be motivated to do that kind of crap anymore. No amount of items that lose their value faster than it took you to earn them will change the cold truth that it sucks that they didn't even try to come up with something new in gameplay for once.

Don't even start coming up with "but they were dealing with Archwing! That's something new!"... because first of all that gamemode suffers its own balancing issues which are quite serious and it's a miserable excuse for why the Syndicates couldn't have been kept a little bit longer in the cooker to make them something more appealing. There's no excuse why a promised "endgame"-feature ends up being butchered so badly in something that could have been added in a coffee break because it doesn't really rely on new content.

Some sigils and mods? Wow I can draw some crap on a piece of paper (Sigils) and add some lines into the data base (Mods) as well but that doesn't make it a fully fleshed-out creative addition people will want to waste another year or two on. They just slapped a bunch of grindwalls ontop of the existing day-to-day gameplay and call it "endgame" and some people fall for it as if that's the best DE could have come up with.

If this attitude is being kept then Warframe is actually worse than crap like Diablo 3 (some people may know my love-hatred on that game already) because that game at least isn't bugged to hell, isn't completely out of balance for some classes and has a fundamental storyline and some in-depth lore around it while Warframe basically lacks of/suffers from all that. On top of the repetitive gameplay of endlessly slaughtering monsters for no other purpose of gaining more resources/items that will eventually lose value of course.

They could have at least tried to make the Syndicates become what has been called "Proxy Wars".

But not only "grind for items" and nothing beyond that.

  11. Sorry for being a disappointment to you. But, friend, I hope you don't truly feel that way because it's self-righteous. With how you stated it, it looks as if you step on other people's sense of fun and excitement. Also, please, don't make it sound like that the people who are easy to please are inferior. But, I digress. You are entitled to have your own opinion.

I don't think easy-to-please people are inferior since I've been one myself at the beginning. Otherwise I wouldn't have started playing the game when it turned open beta and when there wasn't much to see yet because back then only 2 or 3 tilesets existed and nearly no variety in enemies, and only a handful weapons and warframes.

But it wouldn't be too bad to increase ones expectations about additions to the game over time, especially if the game is in Open Beta for more than 1.5 years already (slowly approaching the 2 years mark) and even more if one invested money to help founding it in believe that the developers will eventually use that money to exhaust the possible potential of the game.

So you may or may not understand my dissapointment when they were announcing endgame content at the beginning of the year and when it finally gets released as a last minute addition it turns out that we keep on getting the same bland and mindrotting grindwall gameplay presented just in a few different costumes.

And this is not only a developers fault but also of the community. Because many people were complaining about the lack of "endgame" content and things to do beyond the grind back last year (also at various times throughout this year) and now many are acting like this addition is one the best things that ever happened to Warframe while in fact DE didn't really add any of the promised "endgame"-content, just a few more subpar baits hidden behind even more of the same grind gameplay we already did before and is just there to hold us over even further.

To come to the point where I clarify what I exactly meant... a newer player may not have many expectations about the game yet, I can relate to that, but it's mostly the older, veteran players I targeted with the last sentence of that post.

So we may bury the problem now if some have fun with it. Fine. But I wouldn't be surprised if in a month or two from now many people are sick of the grind again (some are already, just look at OP) because many of them chose to take the bitter pill or not to have expectations now.

  12. you seem to forget this isn't 'warframe', this is grindframe / farmframe.

I prefer to call it Warfarm ever since the one .gif made its round through the Forum.

    7Wa7HmT.png

Sure, there are parts you can just have fun with, but the very core of the game is grinding, and then some more grinding so you can grind whilst grinding for something else.

And that's the main problem about the game right there. It sums it up pretty well. ^^

You can have some grind to "virtually" prolong the gameplay... I understand that DE needs to make some money (pay for convenience part) and that they need some time to further develop other stuff. So from a roadmap perspective they'd like to draw things out as long as possible. Well fine, can't blame them with their limited resources.

But you can't rely ONLY on the old grind-trick to hold people over for all eternity and think that it will have no consequences. That's where Warframe fails pretty hard because they don't really attempt to address the core-issue and critique being raised. They play the problem down as non existent and/or maybe acknowledging there are some problems and by saying they will come up with a solution which gives them some more room to breathe but the next update eventually suffers basically the same grind problems with nothing being fixed at all.

So for example the Syndicates were promised to be become an "endgame" beyond the grind... for people that don't know what else to do with their time anymore and who are sick of the same bland grind gameplay. We have been held over 10 months for that piece of crap and it ended up being an uncreative last minute addition that has been squeezed into the game in a cheap manner with no love being invested into it whatsoever relying on exactly the same old boring grind we have been doing ever since the game is Open Beta in exactly the same kind of fashion. Nothing has changed. At all.

This is where the entire game starts to stink for me because of how basically the same Grindwalled/RNG/Keyed things are being presented in multiple different flavors which in sum all smell like a huge pile of dookie. You grind for resources and items so you can grind for even more other resources and more items.

If you finally manage to be done with that then what? What comes after that?

More of the same bland stuff that serves no purpose whatsoever other than to kill time while deeply inside hoping (this is one of the reasons why I invested in this game) this will eventually serve some purpose at some point once DE starts to feel like doing something that goes beyond that horrible grind-madness.

Many of the people complaining about the problems don't have anything else to do anymore and even if they still have tons of stuff to grind for one simply can't deny that the latest additions are like an old man showing off the same old trick way too often. We are at the end of the rope. There's nothing below this bottomless barrel.

Greed for items may hold one over for some time but at some point you just grow tired of the same old uninspired bait-gameplay. The rate at which the items we worked hard for lose value because of new items superseding the older ones is just insane. At some point everyone will start to ask what all the weapons and mods are good for other than to be used to grind even more of the same stuff.

I've not even been trying as hard as many other people I know or are present here on the forums and I've nearly come to an end of the grind because I nearly own every single item of the game (apart from Nyx/Scindo/Hikou Prime and U15 stuff of course). But I don't feel accomplished at all because there's NOTHING to do with all that crap. Only to grind for the other items I don't own yet. It's a vast arsenal but it is going to waste because the only real purpose DE ever thought of was "use items to get the other items" and nothing beyond that.

    It gets old. That's it.

If DE doesn't change that then eventually most people will have consumed all or most of the content and there's no further experience to be had beyond that. If the game would be over now it only leaves two impressions on me: Nice & unique Artwork, but repetitive grind-gameplay that serves no purpose.

  13. DE plz... i don't want to grind anymore!

But that's all they really know. They can't think of a better way to prolong gameplay other than RNGating and grinding. That's their sense of "fun". ^^

That's the reason why the Syndicates are the most boring, uninspired and uncreative addition to the game yet even it has been proposed as an "endgame"-feature beyond the day-to-day grind at the beginning of this year. But as the Syndicates are now they serve actually no purpose... If they wouldn't be there nobody would miss anything because we were be doing the same godforsaken grindfest before that already.

It's just another "shut up, take the rewards and grind some more"-feature, but with the difference that this time the rewards aren't worth wasting your time with. Even if the rewards would be half-decent... it doesn't change the fact that it's the same old worn out grind story.

I'm honestly disappointed about how people are hyping that stuff up even there's no difference in what we have to do now compared to what we have been doing before that. If people feel satisfied with the same dull grind in a different shade of color already then they are really easy to satisfy.

  14. Stop bashing each other. It doesn't solve the problem that the mission is too hard for the average player.

It is even too hard for most of the veteran players who are fully geared up because of how some of the enemies are able to oneshot you given the chance while you nearly can't inflict any damage on the enemies because of how your archwing guns only take away a few pixels of their HP bar even with fully upgraded mods. At least it makes you sweat all over the keyboard if you try to stand it through to wave 4 and it makes them waste tons of restores and revives. That said if they are even able to get beyond wave 1.

If some of us ultra elitist bastards (I consider myself one in that terms because I played too many space shooters before) are able to beat it because we realized how to abuse the lackluster AI by just repelling them away for all eternity or getting them stuck in random obstacles then good for us.

But that doesn't mean that this is how the game mode should be like for majority of the playerbase. I've never seen so many people ragequit out of a mission until the Archwing Uranus Interception and that just tells me that isn't reasonably balanced at all.

Most players come online to shoot some stuff, having fun while doing it and not to play hide&seek with unforgivingly balanced enemies because then they could have played Dark Souls as well.

  15. I know that DE didn't balance the map, and I doubt any of the DE_staff members can reliably get to wave 4 (let alone clear wave 1), even with cheating and giving themselves all the mods they would need.

Clearing the mission simply requires an absurd level of consumables and other Ai exploiting behavior to win without relaying on luck. This type of game-play is great on an arcade game ( quarter eaters), and it seems like DE is trying to get people buying revives to get the Archwing's parts. I do not know if DE is trying to make the perceived value of buying it high, by making the mission so hard, but the way they went about doing it will only result in people rage quitting.

They can't beat it without cheating themselves. I'm pretty much sure about it. I watched enough of the devstreams and Prime-times (also the ones with the other devs playing as guests) to know that they only have average gaming-skill and knowledge (in terms of efficiency) about their own game. I may be proven different about that at some point but I have yet to see it. They get downed way too often unnecessarily and they often tend to use the absurdest builds in their Warframes and Weapons making me scratch my head of how one is even able play with that for more than a few minutes.

That's one of the main problem I have found about their "balancing"-attitude in the overall game in general, not only Archwing. It is easy to design something in a developer build where they can give themselves pretty much everything they want due to commandline input. It's either that or they did not playtest stuff long enough to realize the problems within something and leave it to the players to find out, but with the problem that once something is released they can't take it back anymore and do major adjustments without p*ssing a part of the community off who starts to believe this is how things should be like.

But if they'd really have spent some hundred hours with playing the various Warframes or Weapons or mod combinations they'd already have realized what an unbalanced mess the entire game is and balanced stuff accordingly, but they haven't. This becomes especially noticable with Archwing:

The fact that they didn't balance the Warframe's unique defense capabilities out for Archwing just shows me that they haven't thought this gamemode through to well at all, because otherwise Rhino/Frost wouldn't be twice as durable as Banshee/Nyx/Ember while the later have no advantages to make up for their defense weaknesses.

But it's the attitude behind the whole thing that is ugly. They may even know Uranus is unforgivingly hard but they let it remain as it is for whatever reason. And that's when for me marketing/a business model kicks in most of the time. Maybe it is like that to make a quick buck of some impatient people who can't stand it and just buy the other Archwing with Plat. But who knows the exact reasons. It's surely not to give players a reasonable challenge because it is not at all.

... and yes I've beaten Uranus Interception with a good team a few days ago but only because we were abusing the lackluster AI behavior luring the enemies into all the random obstacles rendering them stuck all over the place so we got some room to breathe. At least battling seems to be useless because they respawn directly at the tower again so this achieves nothing.

  16. REALLY?? Are you seriously suggesting that DE nerf the only weapons in the game that can carry you past 25 minutes in a T4 survival? That's ridiculous!! They need to buff a couple of more weapons in line with these weapons so players have more of a selection to use when they reach a higher mastery level and these missions are really all we have left to do. If your complaint is that this weapon is too powerful for a beginning player then a simple change of required mastery rank is all that would be need to balance that out. It doesnt really make sense the dragon nakana requires master rank 8 but the boltor prime doesnt have a mastery rank requirement at all. But no, nerfing the only powerful weapons in the game is not the correct answer.

Sorry to disappoint you but Soma and Boltor Prime are not the only weapons that can carry you through 25 minutes of T4 Survival. For example I'm perfectly fine with my Grinlok which is not really puncture dependent :3

Just by stating "they are the only ones" proves that people are right when saying that those weapons are completely overrated.

Still I wouldn't call out for an all out nerf on them. Raising the required Mastery Rank beyond 8 or something would be completely fine. I would go even so far to say they should have locked ANY prime gear beyond MR 10 because of how they are the best items in the game and that there's not going to be any better iterations of those items.

It's like if other games would hand out your class specific legendary/set item on character level 10 or earlier when the max cap is level 60. Where's the point to continue playing after that?

Warframe at least doesn't really offer any reason to continue playing after you got the items. That's the cold truth since I own pretty much every single piece of sh*t item that got ever released with the exception of Nyx Prime, Scindo Prime/Hikou Prime as well as U15 stuff which I'm currently to "meh" about because I'm sick of the grind.

  17. The best mods don't do you any good if you lack the skill owo I am NOT saying that you are bad at the game but that's kind of a fact.

In other words, you can drive the tank with the thickest armor but if you have no clue how to handle it, you are pretty much boned.

    That.

Best defense still is not standing in the line of fire in the first place and to know when to retreat.

I've seen too many Rhinos and even Valkyrs being downed because many people playing them grew lazy over time thinking they can facetank everything without using their brain at some point. It's somehow embarrassing as Ember/Banshee to have to pick up tank frames that tried to show off.

  18. I hate how bony Nekros is... He is super ugly I think his alt helmet is 5x better than his original.

The Raknis Helmet was actually the ONLY helmet I had to buy on day one... because I can't stand his default one... for.. for.... reasons that can't be unseen. :<

  19. Syndicates:

While I like the idea of the Syndicates lorewise I don't like the plain fact that the "Proxy Wars" which have been advertised as an "endgame" content for Veterans earlier this year ended up being another bunch of uncreative and uninspired grindwalls that got added in a last minute attempt to squeeze in some more "content" (if one is even able to call it like that) and that is pretty much relying on the same old grind mechanic without any purpose that tries to virtually prolong stuff with even more of the same boring-*ss gameplay without any purpose we have been doing already the past 2 years. Especially the unjustified grind without any reason being given, which in fact many of the Veterans are already sick of (including myself) and we were complaining about in general is what is bothering me the most about the latest additions.

And all that for a bunch of subpar rewards that are not even worth wasting your time with. All of them can be replaced by other mods we don't have any room for on the weapons anyways because we are limited to 8 slots. They don't give any real purpose and the sigils are just to show off your nerdom. Fine. I don't need to show anything off. I've done my time already. Time to show off is over.

Time to grind items for no reason is over. I want to be given purpose. I want to know why I should fight for them and not the perpetual "shut up, take the reward and continue fighting" which I've grown tired of ever since Gradivus Dilemma which has been one of the last events that had any real purpose beyond stupid items which will be outdated anyways eventually.

    Syndicate Profile Pictures:

Nope. We are Tenno and not mobile billboards advertising a Syndicate that's not even Tenno related. So I don't even want to see that being an option.

It's already enough that people have to wear the damn sigils in game if they really want to take on the useless grind for the syndicate reputations.

    Boltor Prime:

It is good... But not too good from a Veterans point of view. It does its job.

But from a beginners point of view the weapon is just overpowered and thereby should be locked away at a much higher Mastery Rank like the Soma but the Boltor Prime probably even further like MR 8. I've seen too many Rank 2-3s running around with that weapon already which is basically like handing out end-tier items to beginners. It is ridiculous. Nothing more can be said about it because the problem of high tier items in the hands of beginners has been covered often enough in various other threads.

    Ember:

Oh well how do I start... I've been maining her for about a year now (before that I used Banshee as a main) and she suffers pretty much the same problems now that Banshee suffered last year when I stopped playing her. Ember just sucks at high level because none of her abilities really scales well and it just takes forever to kill something ontop of being near to defenseless.

    • Fireball... well generic skill... I never use it at all. It is not too bad but like most first abilities of other frames I actually never find an occasion where I would want to cast it. If I really want to kill one single enemy I kill it with quick melee. I'm not wasting a bullet on them - not even speaking about warframe energy.

    • Accelerant... actually next to WoF the only skill worth using, but only because World of Fire starts to suck at a certain enemy level. But Accelerant itself sucks too because of how the stun effects don't really prevent one from getting swarmed and being ganged up upon. The effect just doesn't last long enough to be viable.

    • Fire Blast... that one is completely redundant when compared to World on Fire. I guess that one needs the most attention. Probably something that gives Ember some more durability would be nice because she really sucks at defense capabilities compared to Saryn for example, especially on high level missions.

    • World on Fire... well... as I mentioned earlier... without Accelerant the skill becomes worthless soon and even when used together with Accelerant there's a limit on how far you can go before the enemies just laugh at the negligible damage you do to them. If it would at least have a 100% chance to proc fire on them it would be so much more reliable.

So all in all I guess ALL abilities need some more love and/or rework to work better with each other. It is at least not done with just one ability, that's for sure. That's not even a biased opinion... because I actually switch over to other frames when I'm about to do more serious missions just because Ember lacks in so many ways.

    The new ability mechanics:

Was about time that the abilities got incorporated into the warframes freeing up some mod slots. Couldn't stand it anymore to watch people forma'ing the skillslots away because of how some of the skills are just not worth using.

    Warframes having emotes:

Seriously? Nope. We are eyeless bastards without emotions. And I'm fine with remaining that attitude.

Gives the game a strange feeling like the one Gordon Freeman from Half Life has. He never speaks, never shows any emotions. It's up to the player to have emotions which immerses the player into the role. It's a philosophy and I'd like to see that remained because it adds to the experience.

  20. While I wouldn't make any of the elemental frames completely immune to their respective elemental at least a good amount of percentual resistance wouldn't be too bad at all for frames like Ember, Saryn, Volt and Frost. Maybe Frost even being immune to mission "cold"-debuffs that have your shields halfed.

Also the combining of elemental damage types together would be a nice idea... because I'd like to see Saryn and Ember together creating Gas damage. Would make of one nice combo there as would the other combinations.

At least it would be fair to do it because they pretty much fall off behind frames that have elemental combinations by default like Zephyr's Magnetic damage which nearly instantly kills Corpus or Mirage's radiation that pretty much onehits even heavy grineer units because of the +75% bonus.

    @Undrakh
Even between just the elemental frames its horribly unbalanced.

Ember would see less damage from:
    -Scorches
    -Napalms
    -Fusion Moas
    -Standing in fire.

    -Fire Eximus units

    -Fire hyena unit
    -Lech Kril second stage
    -Sargus Ruk
Pretty good, wide range of cases against some of the highest damaging enemies in the game where she is suffering noticeably less damage than everyone else, especially against the very common fire eximus that can pop up nearly anywhere.
And decent resistances against 3 boss enemies.

Saryn would see less damage from:
    -Mutalist Osprey
    -Toxic Ancients
    -Toxic Crawlers

    -Venimous eximus units
    -Some of Lephantis' attacks

So she would see a lot less health damage from attacks that ignore shields against infested.  Since no other factions use toxic damage she only sees the benefit against one faction out of 3, unlike ember seeing the bonus against 2 factions plus a random map modifier.
Only one boss enemy though would deal less damage.

Frost would see less damage from:
    -Ice hyena unit
    -Lech Kril first stage
    And thats it.
Two boss enemies would deal less damage to him.  No other unit in the game uses ice damage and not even the artic eximus units deal ice damage.
At least he gets benefits against 2 bosses.

Volt would see less damage from:
    -Arc traps
    -Electric crawlers
So he would see a benefit in grineer levels and against a rare infested unit.
And generally you dont see volt used in grineer levels too heavily so...

As you can see, Ember and Saryn would get the most benefits out of it with ember coming out with the biggest benefits, what with being resistant to some of the highest damage dealers in the game.
Meanwhile Frost and Volt see next to no change in most circumstances and the benefit they gained from having a resistance to their own elements is pretty much worthless.

So even if we just had elemental frames and granted them all resistances it wouldn't work out because of how unbalanced it is.

That's the biggest issue with this idea.

While it seems pretty unbalanced at first but did you even play with Ember lately (past 6-9 months)?

She is one of the weakest frames out there currently both in defense and damage capabilities. She has only 740/740 HP/Shields when using maxed out Vitality/Redirection which is either leaving you with NO damage capabilities or if you max out for blindrage&fleeting expertise you can go a little bit further but any hit directly to HP will be pretty much deadly and thereby renders you pretty much unreliable when people have to pick you up all the time when you accidently stumble in a toxin cloud or you get pinballed by ancients, not even talking about Napalms or heavy Slash damage stuff when playing against Grineer.

Her damage capabilitities fall off shortly after level 35-40 enemies no matter what, probably even earlier when the enemies are not weak to fire in the first place. It is all because of the fixed amount of damage you are able to deal that doesn't really scale well at all. At some point it just takes forever for World on Fire to kill something and she pretty much has no real crowd control to counter that problem whatsoever. Accelerant may buff the damage up a bit but only allows you to go a little bit further at 1.5-2 times the energy costs (to keep it going long enough to make sense at all) and the stun effects of the skill is completely abysmal if not nonexistent. At least it doesn't keep the enemies stunlocked long enough to inflict enough damage or to prevent them ganging up on you.

I've been maining her for a pretty long time now and I still switch over to many other frames if the mission requires a more serious warframe in terms of damage or defense capabilities. Ember only gets me so far on the starchart and it only makes fun playing her within those earlier mentioned level limitations. Everything beyond that is getting crazy, at least if you aren't playing in 4-people squads where you can troll around a bit without having to care too much.

So my experience on that topic may be biased but frames like Nyx are at least imune to damage when casting her Absorb and Banshee (have been maining her last year) stunlocks enemies as long as she has her ult going. Saryn, Frost and Volt have much higher defense capabilities in the first place. At least Saryn an Frost can take much more damage than most other frames because of their high armor values in addition to high health/shield values.

I won't even comment on most other frames because they either have even greater damage outputs or even greater crowdcontrol/defense abilities thereby rendering them often a more viable choice altogether.

  21. This right here encapsulates my problem with DE's development process, but maybe not for the obvious reason.

Everyone has something they like or don't like. If you asked 10 people what the biggest problem with the game was, you'd get 10 answers. Me, I'm happy with some of the items on that list, and have others I'd rather they work on.

DE tries to please everyone, and ends up pleasing no one. They are one of the few devs out there that really responds to what their community wants, and that's great. But it's left them in kind of a weird spot, where things like Focus are so impossibly over-hyped that `everything else pales in comparison, and every change alienates someone who thought they'd get their way.

True, everyone has different opinions on different aspects of the game... but the above things are actually things that hordes of players complained about at various times over the course of development (at least I can't deny dozens of threads that either appeared at a release or that keep on being brought up all the time) and they either went by unnoticed or when they got spoken about on the devstreams:

    • Sometimes they were acting like little children that can't take critique. Especially on the damage/balancing issue. Oh boy that one was ugly to watch and made me facepalm.
    • "Nope; not an issue for us"... yeah because they don't really have to stand through some of the issues on the way to get somewhere in this game because they are only creating this game but not really have to go through all the madness they consider being "fun".
    • "We will have a look into it in a month or two but we will leave it for now"... because they know in a month or two many people have become either "Meh" or "Arrrrghh! To hell with them if they are not going to fix it" stopping to complain because there's no point to give feedback on something they obviously don't want any feedback on. This Friday's livestream was a prime example for that when spoken about Archwing. They could as well have said "Deal with it you suckers!" because that would have summed up the attitude, especially when they were mockingly laughing about the Uranus balancing issue.

That 10 people will give different answers is true... but that's also because all 10 of them are right at the same time most of the time. Most of them are also about the same thing anyways but in a different flavor or from a different point of view. Most of the things are connected or at least related to each other, one problem leading into another.

So coming back to it... DE trying to please everyone is an issue, yes. But I would wonder if something like the upcoming Focus system is something more than additional grind because lately the same old scheme is breaking through, no matter the amount of "good" feedback threads.

Wow.  Finally, someone mapped it all out.  Well said.  Thank you very much.

Very insightful too.  Makes a great deal of sense.  Many well-made points.

I just wonder if DE will read this one.

Maybe they will read it, but I would wonder if it has any greater effect and doesn't end up with me getting a warning point and/or gets the thread closed altogether because of the "inflammatory" aspect.
