  1. These threads will be proven correct when this game never goes gold.  "Beta" is an excuse for poor planning, subpar devs, no endgame, countless bugs, etc.  Listen to the devstream maybe 6 weeks ago when the braintrust couldn't even define endgame.  This game isn't beta it's just dying.  If this game does go gold it will be one of the biggest flops of all time because everyone already experienced the content.  Worst business model ever.

While I don't say that the devs are subpar the other problems mentioned are definitely there. There's poor planning in some of the games aspects because lately many of the major additions require full overhaul the second they get released... like for example:

    • DMG 2.0 - because it didn't fix the power creep and elemental rainbow; it just gave it new flavors of color but the core problem remains and got even worse with the addition of 5 new sets of dmg/dualstat mods from the events completely rendering the polarity system obsolete because now every polarity slot NOT V-polarity-related just plain sucks.
    • Melee 2.0 - the grind for stances to hold you over for something that went through way too many design iterations and doesn't live up to the hype created around it because it loses reliability faster than the old charge dmg system before that. It just overcomplicates things by using the weirdest ways to smash "E" for combos possible. Also the new enemies added over the course render it pretty much suicide to go melee-mode... try to fight Infested in swarm mode when 10 mutalist ospreys, 3 toxic ancients and 5 toxic crawler are nearby. I warn you, but it is not fun at all.
    • Kubrows - wow, don't even get me started on that crap. They just got added to give the game a broader mass-appeal and having an additional income from Plat trades but not because we actually needed them.
    • UI 3.0 - Man... the usabillity still sucks and not much has changed about that in the past 3 months. I'm already tired of the diegetic crap, especially the sway and warframes blocking the views and that they refuse to just move the frames a little bit out of the way.  Also I'm sick of the fact that I literally have to run everywhere on the Liset because it takes even longer to navigate the main menu which is just plain ridiculous when you think about it. I also plain hate that they changed the mod list scrolling to horizontal because that sucks *ss from a straw because it takes forever to scroll when one has 500 mods on different ranks in just one category. The best thing about the horizontal scrolling... We already had that last year and people hated it and that's why it got changed to vertical back then.
    • Syndicates - just another bunch of grindwalls for subpar rewards relying on the same old grind crap trick we were already doing before even it has been advertised as being a proper endgame content for veterans at the beginning of the year. So much about keeping promises.
    • Archwing - I'd really like to have a talk with the mad man who came up with the balancing of that game mode. How is it possible to f*ck up balancing for a game mode this badly? I mean literally half the frames are completely useless because they are only half as durable as something like Frost/Rhino but have no advantage in damage/crowd control to make up for their defense disadvantages. Nyx, Ember, Banshee etc are at a complete disadvantage and it is impossible to play with them on stuff like Uranus because you get literally oneshot. It's all because archwing defense depends on Warframe defense capabilities while not carrying over the unique roles each Warframe inhabits. How is it possible that there's a swarming game mode and that they did not consider carrying over some of the Warframe abilities/roles into Archwing to make it a more fun and balanced and reliable game mode? I mean literally... What the hell where they thinking when coming up with that? How could they release that and say "Yeah it's great! That's how we imagined it.". It verges on arrogance or at least they are blind to the issues this has caused.

That's about all the stuff that comes into my mind now but there are surely more things rolled out with major issues that never got fixed along the road because they were already preparing the next major content release that will suffer exactly the same or similar problems. At least it goes for anything before U15, but I wouldn't wonder if the problems of the U15 are here to stay for another year to come because they never ever think about returning to fix the core problems about them. The only point when they will get fixed is when another 2.0 or 3.0 or 4.0 is going to steamroll any or all of the work they haven't bothered fixing all the time. I wonder how many more of those iterations we will have to see come and go before they finally realize that the goal is to FIX at least ONE of them.

While I don't know if the game will be a flop if it gets ever released you are right about the fact that we will have pretty much consumed every aspect of the gameplay already leaving nothing for majority of the playerbase to do because the Devs don't even care about adding something that goes beyond the grind that gives players something to do after having enough of the same boring repetitive gameplay.

Why does this keep coming up?

This game resembles nothing of complete and if you think it does you've got terribly low standards or the IQ of 50. Beta is referring to the game being incomplete. Say whatever you want, it's all irrelevant.

It's the plain fact that they don't even try to get this game completed. They will always find a new piece of content to add which doesn't meet up with high quality standards thereby virtually prolonging the "beta"-meta. While I appreciate new content... it grows old fast because the only thing they really add is more grind. And I can't get rid of the feeling they only do that (remaining the beta) because they want to keep the umbrella preventing sh*tstorms and having to deal with the serious complaints and critics being raised on the whole damn business model and problems that never get addressed all while adding tons of new problems along the road.

The game is a wreckage on many scales and they are padding each other on the shoulder on the devstreams as if they are talking about a completely different game. At least I can't imagine that any of them ever tried standing through all the grind madness and unbalanced crap they are implementing to the game. It seems like they don't even play their own game for more than a few hours  or with anything else than their godlike developer build that is pretty much nothing like the game we have to experience. It's easy for them to run a script in command input and be geared up godlike all while we have to sit weeks through the subpar grindfest that serves no real purpose other than hold us over for the next grind.

Notice that you never see the devs excuse anything with beta. All they ever say about it is that it's really nice to get feedback during development instead of after development.

You are right, they don't excuse anything with beta directly, but lately they already apologize in advance for the massive bugs and other issues they had no problems with dumping on our heads in the first place. Either that or they find foul other excuses as to why some things are like that or they chose to remain silent on various topics altogether. Don't know which one is worse.

They know stuff lacks quality and is bugged to hell and still say "yeah let's put this out to the masses" all while believing that we will swallow the crap anyways. Especially when Steve wrote on one of the Syndicate topics "Yeah I know it is a last minute addition and suffers problems but we pushed it out anyways". That's arrogance I've yet to see anywhere else. I don't know what changed their development attitude this year but last year they at least said "when it's done" like any developer trying to meet some quality standards and showing some responsibility on stuff they create would do.

At least they should come back to the grounds of reality and have a look at what mess they've caused in the past months before moving along with new stuff. They should stop hyping things up if they can't meet their own quality standards or deadlines. They also should stop burdening themselves if they can't keep up the pace. The recent releases all felt rushed because they did not want to disappoint the community, which I somewhat can relate to but the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

    Open Beta will end.

And you can expect this game to be a whole other beast when it does, with a mountain of new, ripped, old and revamped features.

So you basically want the beta tag to stay until it has reached World of Warframe magnitude? Well good luck with that because if they are keeping the pace of f*cking things up this game will probably have everything but nothing actually really enjoyable or playable.

While I don't match with everything Satoshi Tajiri once said he is true about one core thing:

"If we combined all ideas into a game, it would be an unplayable monstrous game."

And that's in fact the truth about Warframe too ever since they added various stuff to the game nobody asked for... like Kubrows or Archwing... even Archwing might be fun if they actually would have balanced that piece of crap and incorporated more of Warframe into it rather than making it something that could have been a complete stand-alone game altogether.

I noticed a few people made comments that, well, honestly, didn't make any sense.

For instance, Shady_Steve says "You could not be more wrong.. You think the term beta is used to.. what? Write-off people who disagree with you? Games receive patches after development." One note about this series of statements and silly questions is that the last statement has nothing to do with the question you asked me. Yes, I do believe people use the term "beta" to write off arguments used against a game. I do not see where games receiving patches after development has anything to do with that. You go on to continue discussing how games typically don't have post-release updates. What are you comparing this game to? It's pretty easy to see that Warframe is an MMO, albeit instanced. When was the last time that you saw an MMO receive little to no updates post open beta? MMOs make money based on keeping people in the game, so it is in their best interest to continue development. I think you are trying to state, as fact, that Warframe will stop receiving any updates when they finally remove this "open beta" tag. That is only true if they never remove the open beta tag. Your argument is flawed as you begin because you state false equivalency between the use of the term "beta" and your perceptions of post-release development of genres of games that are not at all related to this one.

vaugahn, you state "Notice that you never see the devs excuse anything with beta. All they ever say about it is that it's really nice to get feedback during development instead of after development." I'm not talking about the devs. The players are the issue. Like the gif above, players tend to use the term "beta" as a catch all defense, even when it isn't relevant. Something being in beta, especially now when games can enter beta and never leave, is not an excuse for issues with the game and it isn't a defense against people with legitimate complaints against the game. Beta is essentially a method for somebody saying "don't complain, it might get fixed eventually". It is just another method of uniting the more mindless players into "white-knighting" games. Should they be defending some aspect of the game that is being criticized? I see so many players who don't realize that they are standing against fair consumer practices just because they reaaaaallllyyyy want this game and realllllyyyy hope that *game dev* notices them and praises them. It wouldn't be an unfair comparison to say that some of these players are like dogs. They are so desperately searching for recognition from the people who feed them their games. And on that last half of that quote, it is implied that development would end. Read the first large paragraph and see that I've already explained that that will likely not happen and then think back on that. Beta != development, Beta is a proper subset of development.

I'm not a kid. I realize that this will probably have no effect and that you can't change the minds of the willfully ignorant, so I won't try after this. If you see my disappearance from this thread as a victory then congratulations, but you have not earned it. If you see this as a victory then you are either a child or beyond hope. I ask that people think for themselves and make fully reasoned arguments using logic.

That's the main problem this community is already suffering from. We have remained the beta tag for so long and we used the beta tag as an excuse for so many things wrong about this game ourselfes along the development path that we grew hordes of White Knights defending every bullcrap that got spit out just by mentioning "it's beta". As if our attitude to let things slip got any of the major issues with the game ever fixed.

I've stopped creating feedback threads about a few months ago because I realized exactly that problem. People are tearing each other apart just for the sake of tearing each other apart. Most of the time it's only about the meta-problem and not because of the actual problem itself. So the actual problem gets buried and left to rot in the archives and months later we face a landslide because we decided to bury the problem.

Easy for DE to not have to give a crap about most of the feedback if most of them end up being a massive mudslinging anyways. Easy for them to let slip stuff forever because White Knights roll in and defend even the sh*ttiest aspects of whatever problem is being discussed. Too many people just comment like they will receive a free cookie by DE while in fact the only thing DE does is tease you with the cookie and then lock it away in a shelf you can't reach.

  2. I thought we were talking about a whole different room, I thought we were talking about the room that had like 20 walkways and the second you went up any of them the waypoint changed and if you fell down while finally choosing the right one you lost the path, that room was the bane of my existence... along with Napalms at the time. I never had any problems with the rooms pictured here though

Yeah the first picture shown is part of the room OP is talking about... but I got no better picture of it... but on the course of googling I found pictures of the other 3 rooms which got removed as well.

That one wasn't even that bad.

The one we have on Earth, with all them waterstreams is a lot more complicated.

I wish I could switch to the old marking system, which simply showed you where the door is to the next room.

Rather than what we have now, which pinpoints you to the stairs that you need to take to reach the elevator which connects to a hallway and leads you to the door that ultimately leads you to the next room.

Come on, Mr. Marker, simply show me where the door is and I'll ninja my way up/down there in no time! è_é

True... I exactly know which one you mean at the Earth Tileset... I got lost several times in the beginning. xD

The waypoint/minimap system is just crap to be honest. It is one of the oldest additions to the game but now with Archwing it has ultimatively proven to be worthless.

They should just have added arrows/markers on the edge of the screen pointing in the general direction of targets of interest and remove the stupid minimap altogether because it doesn't really help navigating through the tiles anyways because for that it is too small and if I ever need the map I bring it up by pressing "M" which gives a much better overview.

At least the minimap is often confusing and preventing me to make clear decisions if I want to take a shortcut because I only know which exit/door of a tile will be used when I'm almost at said door. So you can't know in advance which shortcut to use, only mind boggling predictions may help because you played the tileset so often that you are able to predict what the map generator has prepared for this mission.

  3. what painful break? THERE IS LITERALLY NO GAMES TO PLAY... There hasnt been a good game to play since AVP2 when I could play as a Xenomorph, and the game not be a broken mess like the 2010 version. Seriously every game is look at my face, or I am a worthless loser, and rarely is it as epic as Metal Gear Rising where its more than human, less human, not human at all, or covered faces, and not being a wimp, and even then all the games do it anyway, and not give the player any form of pleasure, of good looking characters, or even do good things for a good price AT ALL. If warframe goes that is the end of gaming for me. I literally have nothing left to play. Unless an AVP planet side game comes out and I can play as Xenomorphs there is just nothing to play. So it wouldnt be a painful break it would be the death of gaming for me.

True, I'll give you that point. Ever since 2004-2005 timeframe or something there's not much worth playing or even wasting money on.

    pcgames_timeline.jpg

And since 2010 add bullcrap like DLCs, In-App purchases and all that kind of stuff to the mix as well.

But that out of the way I'll probably be heading over to the new iteration of Unreal Tournament when the big landslide of sh*t will eventually crumble down the Warframe mountain, if it didn't happen already and we just didn't realize it yet.

I came over from the Unreal Tournament community anyways... because I heard that Dark Sector/Warframe would become somewhat like spiritual successors to the Unreal franchise in the early concept stages. Well... some of the weapons got carried over... some of the faster gameplay/movement styles too... but the neverending GRIND without any real purpose. Nah... that's what slowly kills it for me if it hasn't already. If they aren't giving the grind any purpose soon... hence something that's NOT additional grind but a real purpose beyond the grind then I'll be gone... I can't take much more of the same repetitive stuff just being presented in different shades of color. It doesn't help covering sh*t in chocolate. After taking the first bite you know what's going on.

I thought that the Proxy Wars... a.k.a Syndicates would become something with more purpose... but nope it just was another bunch of grindwalls based on the same old grind gameplay we have already been doing the past 1.5-2 years to hold you over but this time with even less reasonable rewards. The upcoming Focus system will be pretty much the same thing... Just grinding the same old missions over and over for some more XP and additional skilltrees (if that's still what they are planning?) and for what purpose? To have even more DPS and stuff you don't need anyways? We already don't need more dmg mods because we overnuke everything or more weapons because we have no real reason to use all that crap beyond Mastery Rank. So making ourselfes near to godlike will bore us even more pretty soon. ^^

    To quote Smith from Matrix:

"Without purpose we would not exist. It's the purpose that created us, purpose that connects us, purpose that pulls us, that guides us, that drives us, it is purpose that defines us, purpose that binds us."

Without DE giving all the damn boring-*ss grind they are forcing upon us some more purpose beyond "grinding so you can have some more grind" all the hard work they putting into this game is just plain a waste of friggin time. Grinding for items that serve no real purpose doesn't make me feel accomplished anymore.

A friggin sigil to show off that nobody else cares about at the end of the Syndicate grind won't make me feel accomplished.

Tenthousand additonal weapons which are left to rot in the inventory without any reason to be used won't make me feel accomplished.

Having MR 17 (soon 18) just shows how much time I wasted without thinking about any greater purpose so that doesn't make me feel accomplished.

Lately I have tried playing some Dark Sectors just to get some different flavor in the game even I said to myself that I'd NEVER play a Tenno vs Tenno or PvP mode because of the balancing issues... But well I didn't get surprised at all. It is suffering all the problems DE never thought about fixing for the PvE part in the first place. I remember dozen of good threads with feedback on the balancing, which never got considered and now that finally pays off.

All that is somehow connected to the beta problem in general because if the game would not be in beta anymore they could not get away with the the "grind to hold over for the next grind"-meta as easily anymore as they do now because of players asking "So what's the deal about the grind? Is there something more to it we don't know yet or is that all we are supposed to do in this game?". On-top of the classy truckload of bugs/crashes/balancing issues/lack of quality/usability problems and whatnot that also acompany the lack of overall purpose we are facing.

That said I'm continuing to play because there's not really anything else on the market worth the time... which is DE's only major advantage currently. But once there's real competition around they will have a hard time standing their ground because there's not much else in Warframe but grind.

But coming back to the painful break... I've been playing Castlevania IV, Super Ghouls n Ghosts, Demon's Crest and Super Metroid as well as some others on my old SNES lately to ease my mind of the grindfest that Warframe has become and they are so much more fun because they don't make me grind the same friggin spot for 10 hours straight to get just one item part (not even the whole item). If DE really wants to shine and to take the gaming industry to the next level they should consider looking back at what made older games from pre-2000 fun so that they could be played over and over without heavily relying on RNGating everything.

True story. Warframe, a 2014 game got its *ss beaten by 1991 SNES games in terms of fun and replayability.

  4. ._. does anyone have any pics of that room?

    2013052000002w.jpg

I found only that one a few weeks back because I've been looking for pictures of that room back then because I also asked where MANY of the old tiles have gone and because many have been just replaced. It didn't add any diversity at all. They just keep the same amount of tiles so the repetitiveness is overwhelming after a few missions already.

Too bad it doesn't show the entire room but only the top most segment... the room is at least 4-5 times as tall and has about 150-200m in diameter. It's much like a huge cylinder filled with tons of catwalks. "Valkyr/Zephyr/directional melee"-HEAVEN. Too bad they removed it.

    Who remembers those:

I remember that one being cool too.. a little bit too dark in some places but cool:

    Warframe0013_zps63f5b8bd.png

Also that one with 2 two elevators side by side:

    Below

    cf749dbf_Evolution0015.jpeg

    Above

That one had a lot of catwalks too:

    2j5mau8.jpg

All three of them got removed as well. I haven't seen them in a year... they probably got removed when they first introduced those newer asteroid tiles involving the half life style tram thingy. There are at least a dozen other tiles I remember that got removed from various tilesets and I haven't got any pictures of. Just makes me sad that they are wasting this much content. :/

  5. Also if it wasn't beta anymore the game would've been killed by lawsuits ages ago... that wouldn't have been good. Then I wouldn't have a game to play anymore...

As with many things in life... it's better to make a painful break than draw out the agony.

At least I can't imagine DE being able to remain the Beta theme until we reached World of Warframe magnitudes which seems like what they are going for with the neverending additions giving them yet another reason to hold back on changing to "released" status. ^^

  6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpetual_beta

    Basically fits warframe perfectly.

Essentially, because they always release major, game-changing content at a frequent rate they don't go into a full release, because a full release would imply that the game is at a final state. No more U12, U13, U14, U15, etc. So the game is in perpetual beta, it constantly releases content that isn't (and in all honesty can't be) fully beta tested.

That makes it a lot faster for them to release content. It's a lot better for them to be able to make content and release it quickly making sure it at least works, then fixing any problems the players find rather than releasing content a month after they finish it because of beta testing.

So it might suck finding bugs and hearing beta, but does it really matter if it means we get to add our own content, get content faster and get super quick hotfixes and such?

It's the truth, Warframe is a perpetual beta. But even if this is the truth it is an ugly attitude by the developers behind a specific product.

It's like developing/creating stuff and not wanting to take any responsibillity for the havoc and problems being created along the road. It's an umbrella they are using to prevent the heavy sh*tstorms that would break lose every time they rushed things beyond believe just to meet a deadline they set themselves.

One can do that with a limited target audience as long as the product is not well known... but with more than 8.5 million accounts being created for Warframe it stops being a reasonable business model. At some point it starts to p*ss off players and thereby the potential customers. At least it leaves a bad taste in the mouth and causes nothing but bad reputation after a while. Many of my friends stopped giving a f*ck about Warframe a long time ago for good reasons and many others can't be bothered to start playing at all because of the reputation. So luring new players in won't work forever. So they may have released the first year statistics but I honestly don't believe in statistics which I didn't manipulate myself so I wouldn't wonder if only a small percentage of the created accounts are really active. My evergrowing friendlist of people who have been offline for months which is constantly increasing are supporting that. I'm not in a big clan who's kicking out inactive players all the time to get fresh new ones so I can't not see the problem.

The Beta Tag is just worn out and currently stands for nothing more than a marketing gimmick to justify the lack of quality in recent updates as well as not having to fix stuff for a long period of time and not having to give a crap about giving players something to do beyond the grind that holds you over for the next piece of content they are going to release that just involves even more grind. It's been a long time since they released something just for the sake of the fun and that does not involve just plain "grind your butt off". We were promised so many things, especially something to do with all our weapons/equipment and items but nothing has been implemented the way it has been proposed on streams. They always found a last-minute way to squeeze in some more grind relying on the old tricks.

I don't know how long they will be able to sustain that kind of model but I wouldn't be surprised if they are never leaving beta at all. They will always find a way to squeeze in a new addition and virtually prolong the beta thereby keeping earlier mentioned umbrella for all eternity, never really having to deal with the serious critics being raised all while the White Knights keep on falling for that shrewd practice helping defend the rotten/foul "grind to hold over for the next grind"-mess that Warframe has become over time.

All I'm saying is the practice is getting old. It's worn out. I'm tired of it and many other people probably too. No amount of key/grindwall gated crap they are going to add to this game will change the plain fact that all they really know is uncreative and repetitive gameplay. It's like a clown showing the same old trick a hundred times. It doesn't get any better just by wearing a different costume.

  7. Even if they'd stay forever I'd vote for removal... like I did with the candy cane scythes.

I'm not really in favor of making a game that has been serious for a great length of time into a clown parade taking place in santa's workshop on northpole or something.

It's also why I don't really like the latest 3 frames (Hydroid, Mirage, Limbo). They are all somehow weird in that topic... like Mirage throwing around confetti etc.

Ontop of all the other issues ongoing in Warframe it's exactly that kind of stuff that drives me away to seek out for another more serious game. The only advantage DE currently has is that there's not much else worthwhile noting on the market otherwise they might have lost me as a customer already a while ago. ^^

  8. Warframe adds a bit of challenge to the game and people freak completely out.

It's a difference if you just have to show some more skills/get some better gear

    -or-

if you are (nearly) instagibbed even when using the maxed out gear, which actually happens on Uranus pretty much all the time when getting swarmed by 30 enemies which don't even die off in one or two hits with maxed out archwing weapons+mods.

The damage abilities of the archwing don't do jack on this level anymore. It's basically impossible to get rid of all the enemies at once and that's a real problem when during a counter attack of the Grineer a truckload of enemies arrives all firing at you at once and one hellion being enough to get you killed faster than you can possibly spawn HP/Shield restore

Repel is the only useful thing to use at that point. Fighting is not a viable thing because the enemies respawn nearly instantly directly at the tower again.

But I don't think that this is the way how the gamemode should be played; A.k.a equipping your Rhino with Energy Siphon being the only viable choice in that game mode just because the devs did not think this all the way through (which at this point doesn't surprise me anymore because most of the additions to the game this year have been like that: half-thought-through last-minute additions that suck and need a complete overhaul already the second they get released). It's an ugly design/development attitude verging on arrogance that the devs are showing recently and I'm not willing to support that trend anymore.

  9. It's do able by a very well coordinated team...

... but it is impossible in public mode because of many players who just refuse to take simple orders and because of DE just not giving a f*ck about balancing a game mode around the aspect that many players just go on a solorampage getting themselves killed or don't speak the same language and thereby don't understand a simple order.

But if you care to listen, 2 other guys I met during the interception and me worked out a strategy that works (we went to wave 4 but could have gone further; we dropped out to take the reward):

    This is what you need:

    - 1 player with Rejuvenation, so to passively heal back against the unavoidable hellions that eventually will hit. More is not needed but you at least need one so people don't have to fly around like idiots trying to get HP orbs.

    - 2 providing Energy Siphon so you can spam Repel fast and endlessly without looking for energy Orbs all the time for which there's no time.

The last guy may take whatever he wants... like sprint speed or physique...

    - Tanky frames to stand more hits because of the ridiculously balanced durability differences between warframes in this mode. Anything like Rhino, Frost, Saryn, etc will do.

    How it is done:

It just involves catching all the tower at the beginning of the round and then ALL players going for the same node once the grineer start capturing one and then STICK together until the round ends. Never spread out anymore after that. And whenever a bunch of enemies comes close to your group or tower or prevents you from taking a tower... repel them away. Trying anything else is useless and probably gets you and the entire team killed.

Just let the spawn cap kick in, repel enemies away and move from tower to tower as a TEAM... eventually many of those grineer suckers will get stuck in all the random obstacles and give you some room to breathe. It's basically a cat&mice play... with a truckload of grineer following you on every move... just hit repel and then outrun them... and if they catch up with the team at the next tower then keep spaming repel until the cows come home.

    Rinse & Repeat.

It is easier when someone takes the lead and says which Tower next and everyone follows those orders. There may not need to be said which tower. When only one is captured by the grineer... then it is obvious which is the next. But if there are two or more.. the leader will have to make a decision and everyone has to obey that.

The first wave after mission start may be a bit ugly because of the long distance the players have to travel to get to the towers... this may lead to a lot of enemies spawning already. This is something we haven't found a solution for... you just have to be lucky. 2 and 2 going for one tower each may help a bit about that. Just meet up as a team as soon as possible and stick together. Can't emphasis that enough. But only the first wave is actually this problematic. But after completing a wave you will be located at a tower anyways so this will give you a head start and little advantage over the grineer.

    Things NOT to do:

    - Solo-elitism. It gets you and the entire team killed.

    - Spreading out. It is suicidal. It gets the whole team killed. Even if it is done coordinated. The amount of enemies appearing shortly after the first tower is captured is just too much.

    - Trying to fight off enemies. It gets you killed. And probably the team too when they try to revive you.

    - Staying in one spot for too long. If one of the hellions gets a lucky shot it may kill the entire team in one blast.

I could do the above strategy only with 1 out of 10 teams because most people either lagged out of the game, crashed, or did not obey what the leader said because they thought they know it better. 9 out of 10 matches thereby never make it past round 1 because most people just leave in rage.

DE completely FAILED at balancing the durability of Warframes in this mode. They carried over the dependence on the Warframe HP/Shields/Armor but did not consider that some frames are weak because of their strong warframe abilities which did NOT get carried over.

Whoever had that idea of making Archwing stats dependent on Warframe defense while not carrying over some of their abilities to remain their role probably NEVER played archwing with any other frame than Rhino or the other ones I stated earlier. It's a ridiculous oversight that makes me just facepalm.

    - How is it possible that some frames have at least TWICE the durability compared to other frames?

    - How is it possible that there's no damage/crowd control advantage for frames that lack the durabillity?

    - How is it possible that warframes lose their roles in general thereby forcing EVERYONE to play with the same bland archwing abilities (ontop of some of them being pretty much useless)?

Not having any frames with roles like Healer, Tanks, Damage dealers, crowd control or whatever in this swarming game mode is just as DUMB as a design choice made by any game developer can be. I won't even try to make it sound better because there's no reason to beautify things up. Also the game is called Warframe and not Archwing... so they could have put more emphasis on giving each Warframe a role EVEN IN SPACE.

Just modify the friggin abilities with some space magic so they work in space and there you go. Giving at least every frame one or two unique warframe abilities under archwing would give them back a role and counter the massive durabillity balancing issues ontop of making the game mode at least somewhat more enjoyable and maybe even balanced at high level where you actually need different roles to make it far.

Also the balancing of the enemies is just crap. For example the hellions instagib you on weaker frames no matter the level and even the tankier frames aren't able to widthstand much more. I saw people die even on Earth which is kindergarden compared to Uranus because of the balancing issues faced by Hellions.

So my summary about Archwing is they did not look a second into balancing stuff when sh*tting U15 out. They just tried to meet the deadline and that's it. The bugs, glitches and other issues ontop of the balancing issues which render some of the stuff unplayable and thereby unenjoyable just make me puke. I haven't seen this many people rage quitting out of a game mode on a regularly basis for a very long time.

  10. Nope. I don't want a 3d Radar. It just overcomplicates things and you still don't have a clue what is going on at all. Especially considering how tiny they are a 3d radar feels even more useless.

A radar never greatly helped any space combat game no matter if it is 2D or 3D... I know from experience because I've been playing plenty of 3D space games the past 2 decades.

What I want is arrows pointing in the general direction of nearby targets of interest like enemies/allies/mission waypoints.

Much like the waypoint arrows indicating the direction of the 4 points like in Interception, but a little bit less intrusive for enemies/allies. Only downed allies or mission waypoints should be indicated by a bigger arrow than the others or in case of exterminates the nearest enemy.

That's all that's really needed... then you don't have to give a damn about a radar at all and could easily remove it altogether because you won't ever look at that damn radar thing again at all.

Some games like "Freelancer" are prime examples for easy-to-pick-up-easy-to-play space combat games relying only on arrows not having any radar at all and you never feel lost in space.

    6978-15-freelancer.jpg

Of course Warframe doesn't need all the list clutter... but you get the idea of the arrow indicators of nearby allies/enemies and what is currently the priority target.

  11. They're meant to be a grind in parallel with what you would normally be doing.

Then they are no endgame. With that viewpoint they are part of the progress of getting through the game (which actually has no end to it).

At least if viewed like that I don't consider it an endgame because in this terms the endgame consists of grinding my *ss off the same way I did the past 1.5-2 years without any difference in gameplay just to be able to get a wet handshake in a year from now stating "thank you sooo much for doing the same repetitive sh*t you now accomplished for a second time". All while I'd like to flip the table once I realise how useless the actual rewards are that are waiting at the end of this.

Could as well start over with a new account because that's what it feels like now but I won't have that because I can't be bothered with doing the same stuff anymore.

  12. U15 = Time to reconsider what I'm doing with my time, and money.

Yepp I can feel you bro.

U15 is the turning point for me as well.

There have been enough issues before U15 already... each single one giving me a headache about the game and in sum they made me consider quitting the game several times already but I left it at taking short breaks while giving it the benefit of doubt while having the hope that eventually when I come back some of the serious issues will be sorted out. But with U15... nah. I've lost hope. I've been burned out before but this time I've literally burned to ashes. I can't lie to myself about Warframe anymore, I have to face it:

I can't be motivated for the boring-*ss sh*tty grind anymore for another bunch of sh*tty items which are going to rot in my inventory anyways.

And that's the main problem about the game. There's no point in doing the grind because there's no way I'm going to use the equipment on anything anyways. The only thing I'm using them on is to grind for even more items I won't be using on anything but grind other items. I'm ranking stuff on the go, leaving it to rot in the inventory while I'm taking on the next piece of sh*t weapon which will eventually share the same fate once new stuff is out.

I can't get rid of the hundred of thousands of resources and the millions of credits I've gathered but yet there's another new grindwall patched ontop of the existing day-to-day grind I can't overcome with the existing resources I've farmed and without investing yet another truckload of hours gathering even more resources like Alloyplates, Nanospores, Salvage,... and credits I won't need on the course. All that while being out of a few resources we actually need constantly like Orokin Cells, Neurodes, Neural Sensors, Argon Crystal, Forma's and the next thing for the Syndicates being even more costly stuff like Reactors/Catalysts and specific prime parts that make you grind your *ss off.

On top of that most of the things now use argon crystals which actually force you to come back to play because you can't hoard them. It's one of the sh*ttiest game mechanics I've ever seen in any game. People were concerned about PW taking over? Well we didn't need PW to crash in even it happened anyways in some way or another with the new partnership. We accepted those low korean-style hardcore grind MMORPG standards back when we accepted the introduction of Argon Crystals and later when we accepted that Kubrows that you have spend time, resources and maybe even plat on can die off just by not feeding it.

Back to the Syndicates... This time the grind for items is actually not worth the time nor trouble nor anything else. It just doesn't pay off anymore. We have reached an ridiculous alltime-low. Seems like "Endgame" is for DE the same as "Ultra Grindwalls" as if the game itself wasn't already grindy enough. ^^

So what else is left? Playing the game just for fun...? Well that's over. At least for me. It's not fun anymore because I've been doing the same stuff over and over and over wayyyy too often already. It has been fun last year when it was fresh and new and when there were at least reachable goals. When there was at least a forseeable end to all this grinding madness. It was fun when it was just dropping into the game, killing a bunch of infested at Cyath or Xini or some Corpus/Grineer and then log out and don't care... but those times are gone for good. Currently I doubt that the game will ever return to this easy-to-pick-up-easy-to-play style no matter how hard it tries with the latest approaches of quests or new menus.

  13. So I pretty much believe that actually NO thought went into archwing balancing with the different Warframes at all. You know why?

Because the stats of Warframes and the Warframe defense mods get carried over to the Archwing while the roles of the Warframes do not.

For example using Redirection/Vitality/Vigor and Steel Fiber on your Warframe you get an Odonata with:

A Frost or Rhino Prime with nearly 1000 HP, 1500 Shields and about 500 amor, while Rhino Prime being the second fastest Warframe around, only losing to Loki.

Using Ember/Nyx/Banshee (...) you get nearly 1000 HP, 1000 Shields, no armor at all (It's negligible) and you are much slower.

When doing the math about the armor and stuff you will find out that thanks to the high armor value of Frost/Rhino they are probably capable of taking at least TWICE the damage as an maxed out Ember/Nyx/Banshee could take. Valkyr would be able to withstand even more than Rhino if you are willing to invest extra time in picking up health orbs all the time if they are even summing up enough at all.

It's a no-brainer that whatever thought-process went into this did not consider any balancing between frames and the available mods at all. Not even in the slightiest. There's exactly no trade-off going with Rhino Prime for example but if you are going with an Ember, Nyx or Banshee you are basically handicapping yourself to only half the durability and to top it off you are being slower than Rhino Prime too.

The differences for the lesser power of Rhino can easily made up by taking flow with you.

This is one of the reasons why either the Devs should have considered carrying over 1 or 2 of the Warframe Abilities (with space magic modifications of course) so that each frame remains his role as damage dealer, crowd control frame, tank, whatever.... Which would be in the theme of Warframe in general because the game is called Warframe and NOT Archwing.

    - OR -

Not making ANY of the Archwing stats dependent on the underlying frames at all.

TL;DR: This mixture of the defense capabilities carying over while the other roles of Warframes do not is just plain bullsh*t to quote Steve.

  14. They should have arrows pointing to targets of interest much like other space games offer. So you can follow the arrow on the side of the screen until it comes into the view.

I really often get lost in the Grineer missions because I can't find the friggin enemies or the extraction point. I can be dead center on the waypoint on the 2D radar... but I still can't find the waypoint because it's either 1km above or below me. That's why the Corpus deathstar maps are much easier to follow because at least one can't get lost in them.

    Took an example of Freelancer:

    neikon_cloak.jpg

Still one of the best space games ever made because it is easy to pick up and shoot stuff, never getting disorienting.

The game completely works without any radar just relying on the arrows and you never have the feeling that something like a radar is missing. Space games relying on radars just overcomplicate things and it doesn't work out no matter what. It may be pretty awkward when there are dozens of enemies approaching but that just adds to the feel of being surrounded. ^^

At least you always know where the enemies are, where your allies are and where the mission target/next waypoint is located.

  15. To be honest...

    1) Looking at the pretty much useless rewards... They are useless because they all can be easily replaced by a handful of other damage mods you can't fit on your weapons/warframes anyways because of the lack of space.

    2) Looking at the ludicrous grindwalls involved to get those useless rewards I'm pretty much "meh" about the whole damn thing.

And this is from a completionists view owning nearly everything in the game, so I showed enough dedidication to the game in the past 1.5-2 years to make up my mind about it. They pretty much killed my reason to play the game because I realized the other day that now it is pretty much impossible to get everything without grinding until 2030 or something, which I honestly don't feel like doing anymore because of how repetitive the friggin gameplay is in general.

It's just grinding useless items so you are able to grind for even more useless items. There's no end to it and I thought something like an endgame system would actually put all the time I invested into something rewarding and all the items I have gathered to something I need to play that endgame, without it being yet another neverending grind which we pretty much had before as well.

And all that for NOTHING actually worth the trouble this time. The Syndicates just want to have my precious resources - fine, but not even the ones I have in abundance but ones we/I actually need all the time there's a new weapon/warframe etc around in the regular update cycle so this makes you having to thin yourself out even further.

Bottom line... I don't like the Syndicate System. Not at all. It's just a bunch of ultra grindwalls patched ontop of what is already an hardcore grindgame. It makes me want to puke. I'm so much fed up with the fact that all DE knows is grind to hold over for the next grind to hold over for the next grind never actually presenting something where I actually need my maxed out equipment or skills. The only other things DE is releasing is completely new content for which the existing content is worthless as well... like for Kubrows or Archwing. There we have to grind for all the new mods from square one. It's the same theme as with the additions to existing systems. And the theme is becoming old. It's boring and repetitive no matter how it is presented.

They can't release anything anymore just for the sake of it being plain old "fun".

That's my opinion. And that's why I haven't made up my mind about supporting any Syndicate on large scale.

  16. While I like having Ordis when he at least comes up with a few different lines every once in a while......

.... I just plain HATE him and would blast his useless processors to oblivion during quests because of the same stupid line being repeated over and over like a broken record.

This has led me to two things... either I make him shut up with the options to volume him down or lately I just don't start the game at all while I have to wait on the crafting to finish up because there's not much else I can do... and I don't really feel like grinding senselessly anymore.

  17. The thing is that it is actually better that they release sooner than later.

By putting out a build to the general playerbase you get a massive army of bugtesters, I'd imagine that we'd find twice the bugs in a single day that DE would in an entire week.

I would be okay with this when this would be actually the complete truth. Because I can't imagine that some of the very obvious bugs in the latest releases never occured to them. Especially with U14 the quest bugs for example where a ton of players got stuck already after the second or third quest part. If I would have to take a wild guess then I think they knew that it is buggy but decided to push it out anyways and that's just arrogant in some way or another.

It may be Beta... but that's no reason to spit something out that has obvious bugs just to meet a deadline they set themselves but couldn't possibly keep up with. It's an attitude I start to hate and it actually happens more often lately. More than it happened past year, this for sure.

  18. B

    E

    T

    A

The slogan is wearing off to be honestly. How much longer do they want to call this an Open Beta? Until the game has reached World of Warframe magnitude?

I bet the status is never going to be changed to "relased" because they will come up with yet another addition they can squeeze into the game prolonging the "beta phase".

In my opinion they should have changed to "released" at the one year anniversary this year because the game was in a pretty good shape at that point and changed to "rolling release"-cycle a.k.a improving and developing new content for the game on a regularly base even it is already released.

At this point I'm thinking that the Beta tag is nothing more than a marketing gag which many of current game developers use to cover any crap that may happen throughout the lifespan of a game. It's just to keep off the heavy sh*tstorms that would occur after each major update because of the massive bugs they had no problems with shifting out onto us in the first place.

To be honest at this point I call this "spit out buggy crap to the masses without having a test branch for the really eager ones" just "Negligence". Because that's what it is... negligent. Wouldn't be surprised if most of the support is already working 24/7 on fixing all the crap that happens thanks to the buggy releases if there's even a chance for compensation at all for some of the weird stuff that happens sometimes. I'm no marketing expert but I don't believe there will be endless new customers and they are obviously underestimating word of mouth like many game companies did in the past.

  19. Honestly for the past 6 months I've been Alt+F4'ing out of the game whenever I saw his dull lines appear on my screen. I don't care what rewards I may lose from the mission progress because i've become "meh" about the rewards at some point down the road anyways. Call it burn out. I'm not playing for the rewards anymore and after seeing the Stalker for one time too often it stopped being a fun game mechanic too a long time ago.

With my Ember Prime he just oneshots me the second he spawns into the map either with his Slash Dash or with an already fully charged Dread. Which is honestly ridiculous since I'm already using only maxed-out mods so I actually can't get more tanky. I'm not even being given a split second of a chance to react to it. I can prepare the 30 seconds after his first line appears and he finally decides to show his face all I want. It doesn't really matter. The second he spawns in I'm dead. So since I know I'm not able to actually fight him anyways because he's a near to invincible bot with godlike aim I call him a notorious revive stealer and I just quit the game before he gets a chance. Spares me the rage. At least DE doesn't get me to pay any plat for cheap deaths they force on me.

The only time when I don't quit is when I'm with other people on the team. But if he comes I just ignore him because I don't want to get splattered all over the place by the absorb and if other people feel like giving it a shot why not. But I basically stopped caring about it and I also won't help fighting him anymore because my warframe got shred way too often because he triggered absorb a split second before I unloaded my last shot onto him. With Weapons that do 10000-15000dmg per shot or more even one shot on the absorb is lethal.

So to hell with that bastard. I don't care anymore if there are permanently a 100 deathmarks by him on my account... I won't fight him and that's it. ^^

  20. Further delayed, some of the stuff probably to U15.5 or U16... which honestly doesn't surprise me anymore.

The past few Devstreams have been all like that "showing stuff x&y" but a change in development direction 2-3 weeks before the major update leads to "x" being released, "y" being delayed with no eta and instead we get "z". With the main feature "x" being buggy while the new feature "z" feels being  a bit rushed because it has been squeezed in. ^^

  21. I find the idea quite interesting...

But my mates and me experienced one fatal flaw with this today:

We were able to pick up each others guns.

I lost my Snipetron Vandal and couldn't pick it up anymore. But my Co-leader was able to pick up my Snipetron which got re-ranked to rank 0 once he picked it up. He continued to play with it until the end of the map and ranked it to rank 3. He lost his Tetra though and it somehow bugged out of the level so no one could get that one back.

At the end mission screen I got my Snipetron Vandal back with the 3 ranks my Co-leader made even it was ranked higher when i took it into the mission. He got his tetra back but it got reranked to rank 0.

I would have ragequitted the game if this would have been permanent. But luckily when we were back on the Liset everything was back to normal. xD

This has been quite awkward... at least as awkward as when we could give the rescue targets our side arms for the first time even it was not intented to leak yet.

  22. BUT WHY NO EMBER?????? NOOOOOO

    maybe in the future then

All Warframes are represented with Syndicates.  What has been shared is only a small sample.  Like a dinner mint!

If there's no Ember-love then they won't gain any favor of mine! I'll friggin betray them all and will have no regrets about it. :O

But wait... on another thought I'm with Team Greed. So I will betray them no matter what. xD
