A perfect riven to me doesn't break a weapon, it fixes it.
    Example:
My Hema riven gives me +90% projectile speed, and an element altogether on 1 mod. That is far better than any combination I could have gotten on it with any mods. Using it isn't overpowered... but it sure feels a lot better to fire.
My Gorgon riven gives both More reload speed & clip size than I could get on any 1 or 2 mods in game... giving me a slot to finally put SOME scraps of damage on for Once. Reloads suddenly become livable, and not so slow they discourage me from using the weapon.

Using rivens to put damage on already OP weapons is a silly waste of time in Warframe. It's future proofing against an impossible future. It's more likely, not that missions should be made with those rivens in mind.. but instead rivens or weapons are remade (Nerfed remarkably hard) to negate that expectation. If you don't want to outgrow the game, then I dunno... maybe don't, right? Not deliberately, anyways.. else you're just teaching DE what to fix in order to make the game feel right. Strongest rivens are for weakest weapons... weakest rivens for strongest weapons... Hint, Hint! Create a comfortable high/middle that feels right in the context of Warframe. (Kinda like Baro's arrivals... DE tries so hard to give us the clues and information where we need them, to have the answer for us without coming across as insulting overt or blunt, but some folks just flatly will never take the time to look or notice. "when baro" "WHEN BARO??" "Answer me already you stupid kickbot!!" Meanwhile, kickbot is on cooldown after answering this twice already within the last 90sec.. and the whole time, the map, the email, the relay kiosks all did everything they could to make it abundantly clear. ...it's kinda like that.)

People may ask for new missions to justify their (entirely optional and often inadvisable) purchase... what they're really asking for is a drastic wave of nerfs to prevent people from the pitfall of that temptation. If you want to beat the game deeply and thoroughly, you can do that on the most meta weapons, without rivens. Use rivens to create greater examples of how the game can't handle Rivens, and DE will be required to get a handle on those rivens. That's an awful lot of platinum to spend to make a bug report, which are otherwise free.

Using the highest DPS weapons, and making the highest DPS riven for that weapon, in theory is using rivens for the wrong purpose; those players cannot and should not be held accountable or in contempt, because that situation is symptomatic of DE having to cut corners to balance weapons on the fly. ...So they don't punish the player; they instead tweak the system that generates this disparity. ...Riven nerfs may feel like a punishment to them, (more so if they paid these intense and inadvisable prices,) and that's why it's often called out as kinda dubious or unnecessary.. through hints in mechanics, advise of other players, (ones who don't stand to make currency off of you,) we're all reminded that Nothing in game is permanent, no cost is mandatory, cooperative play is the goal, a light casual challenge is favorable to none at all.. etc. The intent of rivens were to create the chance to make all weapons (especially the bad ones,) competent and comfortable in unique ways.. not exceed the boundaries of the top most end of OP capability. Doubt that? See every nerf since they came out.

TL;DR: Anything used to make an example of superiority over DE/players, tells DE to consider reducing capacity/importance of those values, as they're unbefitting of the cooperative experience they curate. Whether it's plat costs, exponential functions, rng stat rolls.. if it alienates you from the game and it's players, it doesn't make good sense to be in game, and calls attention to itself for eventual adjustment.

I don't actually use rivens on anything exceptional (and I don't own any, or grind for any, or buy any that are better than the ones I own) so it always gives me a bit of a giggle when people have stockpiles of things that make everything a snoozefest, then they ponder why they are bored or unsatisfied.

    I enjoyed your post :)

Seriously. Pick things with LESS ideal stats if you want challenge. It exists.

Pick Off ideal resistances. Use Blast and magnetic.

Fight your Lich with a Prova Vandal and No riven.

  3. As the title says, I click to launch the game (through steam) get the little grey steam box as usual to say its starting, that vanishes and then nothing... forever. The actual launcher never appears. It does not show up in my task manager as running, but if I look in the steam library it says it is. The stop button via steam does not stop it and I generally have to reboot my pc as I'll randomly get a warframe could not shut down pop-up ages after if I just close out of steam. I've never had issues with the launcher before so this is def a new thing. My last login was a few days ago, maybe a week.

It is exactly like this persons problem here: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1171316-problems-with-steam-launcher/

So I haven't played this game in a month or so. I saw some good changes and wanted to come back, only to find that I'm having some bizarre problems with the launcher.

If I try to boot it, Steam says that the game is running, but the launcher never appears. If the launcher even shows up in the task manager (which it doesn't always do), then it will either be running, but taking up zero memory, or it will say it's suspended.

I'm not sure what happened. I didn't tamper with the files at all in my time away from the game. I've tried rebooting my PC, rebooting Steam, and reinstalling Warframe, but so far, none of them have worked. How should I go about solving this problem?

I'm having this exact same problem, ran fine a couple of days ago.

You know DE is turning into a joke when posts like this appear.(Don't have a problem with you OP).1 hour of this thing is already more than too much.1 hour per day for 10 days is insanity especially when 2-4 of the team just sits there and enjoys my suffering.

This is what is actually making it not fun. Not the grind, the people standing up on the bouys goin "oh Ive been camping for 6 hours watching yt herpderp Im so gud"

  7. 12 hours ago, Worsin said:

I'm sure a bunch of 5 year veterans will flame me for being a new guy that cannot get these as easy as they do.  I'm giving the perspective of a new player.  I am also fully aware that they do this to pray on peoples impatience hoping they pony up and spend plat on them.

My opinion stands though, its just not fun having these items as rare as they are.

You seem to have forgotten that "veterans" were also new, and in the exact same position as you (and even worse the further back you go).

    12 hours ago, Worsin said:

You do not get my point i think.  A new player that is under 100 hours play time will NEVER have the resources to experiment with the low MR weapons while he/she progresses through the game so is forced to trash them and make them later when they are useless.

As a newbie i wanted to try out a lot of the low MR weapons but it was unrealistic to do so due to the fact that these upgrade items exist and are rare.

It is all about the grind. The "noob weapons" exist to give you a feel for the ones you will progress to later. ie: they arent meant to kick everythings a$$ right now.

    12 hours ago, Worsin said:

Just because its possible to get higher level and eventually farm for these items does not mean those lower levels could not have been more enjoyable with more options.  I was forced to use the same 2 weapons FOREVER before being able to upgrade and by then 40+ weapons that i could have experimented with are useless and i will never try them out.

No one forced you to do anything, you chose to. There are plenty of pre-built "noob" weapons you could of tried in that time. There are multiple options to grind and earn things, just like every other new player does.

    12 hours ago, Worsin said:

I get this, 6 months though takes you into being a veteran.  My post is specifically talking about being a new player.  This game would be much more fun if the low MR weapons were easier to upgrade for players just starting out.  By the time you can experiment those weapons are useless.

6 months is a vet now? Darn, they grow up fast.

  8. I don't think locking events is needed. Events should be open to all who can make it to the nodes. If someone taxis a noob to a node they need to realize they are responsible for them since if they can't get there on their own they shouldnt be there.

Sortie is already "locked" behind TWW, if they can make it that far then why not give them a hand learning to get through sortie instead of moan about it. I'm sure you still die here and there.

  9. I don't mind so much waiting for the big updates.. I'm actually more bothered by the continuous stream of new warframes and weapons that we really dont need so often. I'm one of those people that wishes old stuff would be fixed/updated before the new frames are thrown out every few months. Even if it was like a new/old/new/old cycle thatd be nice.

I do miss old void too.

rivens are a bandaid and a very meh one. The real problem is that DE doesn't want to go through and rebalance each gun.

I see what you mean, but I disagree. Trying to balance all the damage sources seems like a fool's errand.

So using more bandaids is a better solution? Don't need frame rivens, don't need weapon ones either to play everything in the game well.

They have to think about new players to keep their brand alive and and consumer-base growing. It's business, and it's also a game; nobody is forcing you to do these challenges or play the game.

Furthermore, many of these challenges would be next to impossible for new players: Index, ESO, Sorties... So that essentially destroys your argument.

There' are two out of all of the challenges that people simply don't like and are throwing their toys out about; it really comes off as entitled and ridiculous in my view.

I wonder how many vets actually complain or express unhappiness about the game... Got plenty of MR25+ guys in my clan and alliance that are on all the time, still enjoying the game, and always willing to lend a helping hand... Could it just be that there's a small but extremely vocal minority being disgruntled on here and on other social media platforms? Given that we're living through the age of outrage, and instant gratification by way of expressing rage on Twitter, I wouldn't be surprised.

I'll give you this one: they should at least make some kind of effort to clearly communicate to players how much they should be getting in the way of standing to safely reach level 30... But again... Should everyone reach it? Everyone should be able to, yes, but if everyone gets every exclusive cosmetic or forma, what's the friggin' point of exclusivity and challenge?

For my part, I hit 30 with Series 1 and 15 Intermission and I had a week or two to spare with both, and that was with missing a number of challenges along the way too; as such, I think you can safely skip those troublesome challenges and still be okay and derive satisfaction from the game.

Someone is always gonna be unhappy about something, and I don't think this is anything to get all outraged over.

Farming forma - either by way of relics or other means - is a challenge.

Farming the materials to build - and then level - a Zaw prior to getting it gilded is a challenge too; I built my first Zaw and gilded it the week before last, and I've been playing for about a year... Am I new, am I intermediate? And beyond that, I'll probably skip this gilding challenge this week, because: 🤷‍♂️

You could combine these challenges with other daily or weekly ones - which I always try to do - and hit multiple birds with one stone.

Or you could simply skip them.

I still don't see what the damn issue is!?

    tenor.gif?itemid=10584134

It's a pain in the ass. That's literally the point. A wasteful pain in the ass. It's also an opinion, not outrage, not a tantrum, not anything you're "seeing" in your "just skip it, I don't see the problem" responses. That's your opinion, I gave mine and you tried to turn it into some entitled elitist tantrum. Okey dokey.

I'm still in there playing most every day, not rage quitting and carrying on like whoever you seem to be basing your responses on. I can still be a "vet" and not be ass-kissing every single bad choice they make, nor blowing smoke up their bums for the good ones either. The "vets" in my clan are tired. Still playing, but tired. Not every "vet" is going to be like the cheerful ones in your clan. Funny how people are different like that. I simply want them to spare a thought for people who aren't new.

And no, I don't expect "everyone" to be able to reach 30. I "expect" new players to hit hurdles, just like I did when new. I hit 30 and 15 comfortably in the last two, it doesn't mean its any less irritating having no clear idea what you can skip, or being confronted with the same "challenges" people voiced their displeasure about very clearly in the feedback megathread from the start.

Not really much point continuing this though if an opinion, to you, classes as outrage.

If they force unwanted permanent changes on my character I will leave the game and never give them another dollar. I am far from the only person who will feel that way if it happens. Try to defend it how ever you want but this is a topic that DE needs to drop like it's hot if they want to maintain their current popularity. For every one person who is happy with the change, two more people will leave and not come back. If they want to look at what happens when you force changes that players do not want all they need do is look at the repeated collapses of and ongoing financial craptastrophe that is Bungie.

I mean, there were plenty of us that hated suddenly being children (regardless of age, they are) and the game didn't die then. I look forward to not being a grommet, if that is indeed what will happen.. we don't really know atm.

But they simply can’t think of everyone, hence my implying that you’re coming as as entitled, as if you represent or speak for everyone because you’re not getting your way.

There are always gonna be complaints & unhappiness, & sometimes it’s warranted, sometimes it’s not; in this particular instance, I feel that it’s not.

Farming resources for forma & parts for modular weapons, including raising standing, is most definitely a challenge  from where I’m standing, so I reiterate: if you don’t like the challenges, skip them!

You’ll still be able to reach level 30, but if you’re being obsessive about completionism when something isn’t 100% to your liking, surely you can’t fault someone else for it, can you?

They haven't thought of anyone but new players in a long time. I never said I speak for everyone, and it has nothing to do with "not getting my own way".. I'm not 12. I just wish they'd think of others who ARENT new, because its just boring and repetitive and they shouldnt be hoping vets will just stay waiting around for the next big thing, that's just disrespectful of the time (and money) people have put into their game (and their pockets).

Skipping challenges is an option, but without knowing how many you can safely skip and still reach 30 to get the only thing you probably dont own, makes it irritable.

It also has nothing to do with being obsessive so iDunno whose posts youre reading. It was an opinion, about 2 stupid challenges that aren't a challenge in any way that are continuously slapped in there "for reasons". Surely they can come up with something better.

If you think about it though, how is it really different from all the other challenges? Have you not already killed 100 enemies? Opened 20 lockers? Played Sanctuary Onslaught? Killed enemies with various elements? Bulletjumped? Done Syndicate missions? Opened relics?

You don't spend this forma or gild a weapon for improving or getting another weapon. You do it for the standing needed for the tier rewards of NW, and it's both easy and quickly done, especially for someone who already got all the stuff in the game, lol. You don't even have to rank up the things afterwards. So what's really the problem here?

Yes these acts are boring chores, but that's because this community can't deal with anything close to a challange that would make things more interesting. So unfortunately we're stuck with doing dished and laundry.

I don't grind or spend resources to bullet jump, or open a locker, or do syndicate missions, or open a relic.. because anything I need to do in those challenges comes from playing the game. Im not going to build the same weapon over and over again "just for fun", but thats basically what you have to do to gain points in these "gild" challenges.. its irritating. Forma is less irritating but still a pain in the a$$ if you have everything just the way you want it.. then you just end up spending it on cr@p you dont even want to use.. which is wasteful, and disrespectful of players because they know youre going to do it unless you want to skip so many challenges you fail to reach the only thing you probably dont own, at rank 30.

Didn't judge. As I said, I can appreciate some of the advantages of playing that way, and I don't begrudge them one bit. I just play a different way, and they both have their pros and cons.

I'm sure there are a few veteran players out there who did slowly complete everything, but the game has grown a lot over the years, and considering the frequency of "LF Hydron" on recruitment chat, I'd say there's a lot more of the fast levellers than the veterans.

I feel for both of them, I really do. But again, everything has their pros and cons. It's not possible to cater to every player's individual circumstances.

yeh I get you, I have no pity for the fast levellers though.. if they bumrush THEN complain, its their own doing lol

  16. 6 minutes ago, KnossosTNC said:

Well, lots of people DON'T take their time. They've poured plats into potatoes and Formas and spend all day at Hydron and Adaro, levelling everything as fast as possible.

Me? I haven't spent a single plat on either of those, and like to "slow level" things, like how I'm currently bring my Synapse on my Marduk runs and my Brakk on my Tridolon. Far slower, yes, but I don't care. I'm enjoying myself.

Different strokes for different folks, each with their pros and cons.

    Wow. Judgey McJudge.

Maybe they've taken their time, over many many years and are complete.. and don't fit in with that little spew right there. I personally hate level campers and bumrushers but lets assume shall we?

    3 minutes ago, (PS4)EyeGodZA said:

Which is why I suggest that some folks should just take a deep breath and relax and realise that this is just a game... Everyone isn't - and shouldn't be - entitled to every single thing under every single circumstance.

Nightwave is an excercise in challenging players, not in digital egalitarianism...

It's not being entitled to wish they'd think of everyone instead of just new players. It's an all too common complaint now. (And no, I dont want an "endgame" I just want some clear thought behind things) It's also not a challenge to stick forma on something over and over again, nor gild something. They aren't challenges, even at all.

Again, didn't say they don't suck, but I don't think taking your time and planning ahead is such a bad thing. In many ways, the game already encourages you to do that. I personally already do.

How does one take their time when they have everything already? Forma'd and gilded.. multiple times. They aren't thinking of "everyone" anymore and havent for a long time.

Thats a problem in and of itself.. because I know lots of people who dont use their weapons or try their new stuff.. purely to save them for this. It makes players not.. play.. with their stuff. Thats dumb.

  19. Yar gotta admit, after being amped to play after watching TennoLive stream.. I was instantly disappointed to see yet again a gild and forma objective... literally have gilded and forma'd everything (bar the newest prime access but Im still deciding on that due to things like this) and Im really tired of doing it over and over for absolutely no gain other than some points. If you must include those missions make them worth 1k so people who have already spent a gozillion hours in your game doing exactly that can skip it.

  20. Don't focus so much on fortuna/orb vallis so early into the game. Unlock nodes and do junction missions to get planets open. Do the main questline. Normal missions will drop mods you need to survive, and the credits and endo you need to rank them. Plains of eidolon low tier bountys (earth) drop a few staple mods that everyone needs but as with orb vallis (venus), don't spend too much time there after you get them and especially don't waste time trying to do eidolons (you literally cant be useful in those until after you've finished the questline, basically)
