Well I'll be damned.  BCM came back again for the umpteenth time and finally said something that I agree with.

I was REALLY hoping Fortuna would offer something that would interest me. I miss the moment to moment game play.

But I dont miss knockdown spam, staggering rollers and constant control interrupts and draining auras. And I certainly dont miss dealing with all of it in tiny little areas where I have to stay in a circle and defend something over and over again.

This game used to be about Ninjas facing off guerrilla style against superior forces and running appropriate missions for this reason. Then came the lousy horde modes, and its drug the game down ever since.

Agreed on the points.  Unfortunately DE has boxed themselves in with Void Mode vs most boss abilities.  Boss AoE needing either a defensive ability or agility?  Void Mode.  Homing mechanics?  Void mode.  Damaged?  Well you're either on the floor writhing as a squishy, or survived Void Moded and use Magus Elevate.  For them to pose a threat to Chroma/Inaros they have to push the damage up and spike it to tank-buster levels.  Adaptation just took the amount needed to a different level.

Hmm, just a thought.  Is there anyone brave/skilled/stupid enough to do Titania vs Profit Taker and publicly record it?  I don't have enough masochism to do it myself, but it could be a highly amusing bit of Schadenfreude.

Yet another Example of how their continued refusal to balance their game, harms it in the long run.

I think the giant orbs werent apart of the initial release because they wanted a reason for players to come back for a future update. Lets be real, those 80k viewers on twitch are there for fortuna yeah, but mostly for the twitch drops. Once they find out its like PoE, most of them will leave again in about a week

Yeah, I strongly suspect the huge players numbers will fall off a cliff rather quickly. I mean, consoles just got RDR2, and we are coming into fall release schedules. And with potato support ending on PC, the players whose rigs can still handle Warframe have money for real games with finished, polished content that is more than a copy paste job...and a Steam holiday sale window right round the corner.

I would be surprised if player numbers remain above 50% of their current levels in 8 weeks or so.

Thats not DEs fault. Its players own fault. DE never told u those rivens cost X. Players put prices on the rivens. Its our fault that rivens cost so damn much and you should never spend so much on them because you will never know what will happen to them.

Maybe now people will learn that all this riven overpricing is BS and stop it but i guess people will be as dumb as ever and still sell/buy rivens for far more than 400-500plats

This is spot on. No one to blame but yourself for dropping that kind of coin on something like this, in a game you know is always evolving.

I only played it for a few hours but I liked it a lot more than I expected.

I personally didn't like PoE. Even if I agree that it was a very important milestone for DE as an achievement and as a feat to count as a pro when advertising the game, I found it to be more filled with inconveniences than fun. I hated dealing with the night/day cycle when hunting eidola, and the fact that it was advertised as a challenge for veterans, but it ended being a cheesefest with extreme visual clutter and a very unfriendly meta. The tall grass bothered me, it looked great, but half of the time you couldn't even see from where you were being shot. And the color palette and the big open spaces that were almost desert-like striked me as extremely sad.

My first impressions of Fortuna are a lot more positive. From the start, no more tall grass. The fact that you can now start new bounties without having to go back to the HUB instance is extremely good. The map is bigger and I find the setting a lot more interesting visually and more fun. The NPCs aren't just a bunch of tribesmen that speak in riddles and you can't imagine how they could survive against the Grineer, the intro actually makes you have a personal interest in the development of some characters, is presented better from a narrative viewpoint, and it even has a slight but positive social commentary. The bounties are more varied, it's not just "look for the crates or kill everything in sight for 3 minutes", now you also have open world versions of spy and interception missions. Bounties now also have bonus objectives, like "don't allow the defense target to drop below 70%", if you complete them you get an extra reward rotation. Oh and the K-drives take some time to get used to, but they are a complete joy.

My only complain is that we can't fight the big spiders on day one, like we could with the teralyst, but I have plenty of content to keep me occupied until they release them.

This is what frustrates me so much about this update: they did get a lot of things right. And they did make improvements.

And then we get to the core game play loop of Fortuna...and its a literal copy/paste/reskin of PoE. Which is especially awful because those Bounties are not good, fun, engaging missions to begin with. Two of them are slight variants on Defense - because defending fixed points is exactly what I want to do in a game about Space Ninjas. And the caches...my god, that mission is terrible. Its the definition of "lazy filler" fetch quest. We are talking Skyrim Radiant Quest levels of bad.

So its frustrating. I wanted this to be as interesting and engaging to PLAY, as it was to look at and visit. But its not, and ultimately, its the game play loop that matters. And the game play loop is the EXACT SAME ONE we have had for more than a year. I mean...honestly, why bother? Why not skip this and go directly to Railjack, if this was the best you could offer?

But they said they wanted to reduce the grind 🤔

DE likes to talk about reducing grind. Which is good. Because their refusal to actually do so, gives them plenty of opportunity to revisit the topic.

Exact same grind as PoE, but different map.

    This.

The core game play loop is the EXACT same missions as PoE. We all waited a year for a copy/paste reskin of the garbage tier bounty missions we were already playing.

    Ahahahahahahaha

You are in for a rude surprise there my friend.

    Why?

At this point, despite the flaws, Destiny 2 is a far superior game to Warframe. Content is balanced. Enemies are intended for interaction, not god tier bypassing. Warmind was decent. And while Osiris was a pile of steaming jank, Forsaken is pretty great. Worlds better than than any Warframe story quest or content update. And while the game will eventually come to an end, there is TONS to do for a bit.

I've tried introducing my friends to Warframe many times, without much success. There were, among other things, two common frustration they all had, and I think this is the most important piece of feedback I can give from my experience with them:

    - Warframe/weapon slots
As soon as they see that you need to purchase them with plat, they feel lost and disappointed. I think it wouldn't be bad if you could give new players one extra slot, together with a clear pop-up message saying "this is how this works, you need slots to use the stuff you craft. Here's one for free, but the next ones you will have to purchase with plat. Plat can be bought in our store, or traded with other players".
I found that reminding them that they can trade for platinum with anyone is very encouraging. SPECIALLY considering that most games with premium currencies do not allow to trade it. Most players do not expect to be able to do it here.

    - Orokin reactors/catalysts
Same as above. Maybe don't give them for free to a new account, but at least add a pop-up the first time they get into the modding window, telling them that those can be obtained from alerts that happen a few times per week. They may not know about those alerts until they stumble upon one by chance, and until then they will think that you cannot use your warframe's full potential unless you spend plat.

I know, new accounts have enough starting plat to buy some of these things. It doesn't matter, by the time I wanted to warn my friends about the best way to spend it, they had already purchased syandanas.

I think this is specially important now that Fortuna will bring an influx of brand new players.

Several teens in my family tried Warframe on PS4. All of them quit playing as soon as they realized they would never be able to have more than a couple of frames and weapons without either throwing cash at the screen...or spending half their evening play time in trade chat hoping to scope tiny amounts of plat.

Most of them play Fortnite now, or some other game that focuses on fun as opposed to anti consumer business models.

How about first of all make it so rivens aren't so god damn NON FUN AND VERY VERY ANNOYING TO UNLOCK NOT FUN AT ALL how about we fix that problem first.

I've literally looked at the description of what i need to go through to unlock these things and uninstalled, many times... i will again soon im sure.

Riven unlocks are sheer, tedious annoyance. None of the conditions are fun. A good number of them arent realistic. And ALL OF THEM are annoying.

I mean, what game says, "Here is your late game reward from the most difficult (and tedious) mission set in the game. Now grind like a fool with ridiculous limitations attached in order to actually USE it. Its insulting, and says clearly that DE cares neither about your time, or whether you ENJOY the game, so long as you are HOOKED on it.

  11. A lot of the last year of Warframe has seen DE forcing Bounties. Time and again new items and frames are locked behind these same missions. The missions themselves are bug ridden, low effort filler content. They would not even cut the mustard as side quests in most other games. And more importantly still, people were tired of them. Burned out by the constant forcing of them in order to get new rewards.

So why did DE just copy and paste them into Fortuna? A year or more of time was spent on Fortuna. And we got copy pasta from PoE. For missions. For fishing. For mining. For the overall mechanics. Which means we got another closed economy and more tired, worn out, over used missions to grind for the resources tied to it. Was there not enough time to design and optimize the large area, AND build new content? Are DE out of ideas for missions?

I will be honest: I was hoping there would be something here to bring me back. Make me fall in love with Warframe all over again. Which is why i am so disappointed to find out that Fortuna is just a big reskin of PoE.

    Just got Revenant.

His 4th seems like the carrier ability of his entire kit. As soon as you have the Ability unlocked even without any strength mods it can deal with lvl 40s easily. And the other 3 Abilities just lose their purpose. Why enthrall anything if you can just mow it down. Why leech if you can just mow it down. Why protect yourself if you can just mow it down!

I think combining 1 and 2 would be a good start. Have anyone that damages you be automatically enthralled. And replace the second ability with like a suicide bomber command, where all your thralls will just die in an explosion or will just straight up run to the nearest enemy and explode with sentient energy.

But like honestly with the 4th Ability the other 3 just become irrelevant... better turn those 3 into revenant and bring them back

The game's complete lack of balance, coming back to bite it once more. If the game featured mini bosses on missions which required time and focused fire, you could use Enthrall to add minions, to help out.

But with Warframe's gross lack of balance, 99.9% of content will always feature the question of "Why do X, when I can just kill all the things immediately instead?"

Irrelevant Warframe abilities are what happens when you falsely think balance is a non issue in a PVE game.

Putting something with a low drop chance into already existing content that many stopped playing anyway because it gets boring after some time isnt "content"

New frame got me somewhat excited.

Then I saw it required Bounty runs, and immediately decided its not worth reinstalling the game do run those broken, unfun missions again. No thanks.

On these forums that holds true as well. But here's the thing, if you want to play a good fighting game, then expecting it to be in a minigame in a third person shoot 'em up, doesn't make any sense.

Here's a simple question, do you expect to find a hidden minigame in Mortal Kombat, or injustice where you run around as a space ninja, with great mechanics and a control scheme that just happens to be exactly like some other space ninja games you happen to enjoy? If the answer is no, then I fail to see what the fuss is about. If the answer is yes, then I'd like to see that game.

You're, uh, making my point for me.

No, I DO NOT expect to find a great fighting game within Warframe. Nor would I come here wanting one.

So why spend the time to insert a half baked, under-developed, poorly thought out version of one into the game in the first place? Was it someone's personal hobby? Perhaps. But it still furthers the impression of Warframe as a chronically rushed game whose devs do not care about quality or polish or finished mechanics. Thats...not a positive impression to further, especially since its becoming an increasingly popular, and increasingly accurate, one amongst gamers.

    So...... What's the problem?

Outside of these forums, Warframe has a reputation for bug ridden, janky, half developed releases. Allowing another low effort, under developed bit of content into the game only reinforces the already widely held opinion that this game is far more concerned with quantity than quality, and will rush out mechanics half baked and unfinished just to get something new out there periodically. All of which is observably true, of course, what with the last three years being full of unfinished releases that had to have second and third passes...but continuing this trend does not help.
