  1. The Vulkar does not deal Armor Piercing elemental damage with its base shot.  It is therefore less effective against any armored target.  Ancients and Grineer are armored, and exactly the type of things I'd rather snipe and headshot than engage face to face.

Ah, I did not know that, my bad.

  2. That is flatly incorrect. It just means there's a huge drop in the number of people who are willing, able, and available to group with you. This could be network issues on the developers' end making people not connect or detect each other properly, people starting to use the ping restriction settings, people suddenly joining clans like flies to sh1t and grouping within the clan, people changing to farm mats on alerts instead of bosses since they dumped all their mats into the guild Dojo, people suddenly having another place to play outside of the solar map like Void Keys... it could be any number of things besides a drop in player numbers.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.

I agree that with an average concurrent player base of around 20,000 it seems very likely that trouble getting into missions is caused by networking/matchmaking errors.

I was disagreeing with someone who was saying it was because of a drop in player numbers :)

  3. well i use snipertron , and as soon as it gets back into game and i get forma i will polarize it until it burns :D

Vulkar has the same stats as the Snipertron, just looks different. Actually the Vulkar is slightly *better* than the Snipertron. :)

  4. Warframe is currently #9 on STEAM between CS and CS:GO, but it should be noted that all CS and CS:GO players are on STEAM. Not all Warframe players are. That indicates a fairly healthy population IMHO.

The graph for population shows U8 was actually a big hit and brought us up from a low point.

You can track the numbers playing any Steam game using those links.  And for the matchmaking to become so bad in just a few days, which is what those of us with problems are experiencing, there would have to have been a huge, huge drop in player numbers.

  5. Same problem here, last few days it's become extremely difficult to get into random missions. As others have said, even busy alerts often just don't find a group, ever.

Leaving the queue and rejoining works sometimes. Quitting the game and restarting it works sometimes.

My connection is good - UK BT ADSL, I regularly test my connection quality with sites like Speedtest.net and have no troubles with any other online game or service. Nothing in my settings has changed over the last few days, just my ability to get into Warframe games!

I'm happy to run some tests if anyone from DE would like me to and if it would help identify the problem, just let us know :)

  6. Take borderlands for an example. Nobody complains about the borderlands drop rates, and they're insane!

Not true. The Borderlands forums have had plenty of threads complaining about exactly that. I, and several other people I know, stopped playing BL2 specifically because of the terrible drop rates which made the game feel incredibly grindy.

You're right in that a story helps game longevity, but usually only up until "endgame". Whatever the game, once player advancement starts to feel like a grind some people will lose interest. MMORPGs like WoW, for instance, only survive because of a constant stream of new content and story.

Warframe badly needs more content, I totally agree, but that requires a lot of resources to produce - people, time, money. We'll see if DE are able to pull that off. I hope they do, they've got a good core game, would be nice to see it become something that can provide more than a few weeks of fun.

  7. Here's a run down of what has happened: bad patches with disappointing content and no challenges for players that are more experience. The player base is diminishing but also take into account the time of the runs.

If you look at some earlier posts in this thread you'll see that's not the case. The Steam numbers indicate that the population isn't declining massively. It looks a lot like some kind of matchmaking and/or networking issue with the game, not widespread dissatisfation.

  8. Playing something that feels less like sticking their $&*^ in a grindstone I assume.

I've been playing games for over 30 years. The minute a game feels grindy to me is when I know that I'm not enjoying the actual game any more and am just chasing rewards. That's when the game is over for me and I move on. I'm not there with Warframe yet.

  9. You can set a ping cap in options so that only people with say, 100~ MS ping will be available hosts for you.

I did not know this, thank you! Will see if it helps, although it's often difficult enough to get into random games anyway, I can see how setting this lower than the default 300 (which I've just discovered) might make it impossible :p

  10. Why is there no apparent check on people's internet connection or PC speeds to ensure decent quality hosting?

So often you join a game and realise within 10 seconds that the lag is horrendous and you're going to have to either abandon it or suffer slow, laggy, unresponsive gameplay. Obviously peer-to-peer hosting makes Warfame a LOT cheaper for DE to run than centrally hosted servers, but too often it makes it feel like a 2nd rate game and reflects badly on DE as a whole.

How about implementing some kind regular bandwidth and system check on players and then grade them according to how good a host they're expected to be. This information could then be displayed before joining a game and giving players the choice of joining a poor host or not.

  11. Just an FYI for DE, the new, large room on one of the new tile sets causes a serious drop in framerates for myself and my friends. I normally get 40-60 fps and progressing through this room causes drops down to 5-10 fps.

Here's a screenshot of the room in question:

I've dropped my graphics settings down a couple of notches which may lessen the problem but I thought it might be useful to provide DE with this information :)

    Thanks!

  12. This is a F2P game, you're not charged anything to download, install and play the game. You're not charged a monthly sub to play the game. The devs have to make money somehow. Development is still going on, content is still being written. We've just had update 8 with new maps, gear, etc. Who do you think makes that content? Do you think those people will work for free? Would you?

Slots for weapons & warframes are cheap. Potatoes are cheap. I bet some of you who are moaning about paying anything for a game have put 100's of hours into Warframe. If you were buying a new game for your XBox/PS3 etc you'd pay what, £40? $60? €50? So make a choice - either you decide to pay nothing for Warframe, or you can pay a sum pretty much of your own choosing and unlock some extra weapon & frame slots, or buy some colours, etc.

However, if you do decide that you don't want to or can't afford to pay anything for the 100's of hours of gaming you're getting then be a grown-up about it and accept that it's a choice you've made and stop moaning about it.
