I play for relaxing entertainment, not to work, personally.

GaaS games simply require time spent to acquire things, what you call work is just spending time playing the game.

IMO, this is the undelying root issue - this Protestant Work Ethic that has made its way into gaming, under the guise of people having to 'earn' things in games.

This game specifically is just a slot machine, IME.

I am not at all advocating that DE should not add a variety of modes to attract a variety of players and styles, I simply really think that this idea of 'working' for something in a video game and 'earning' things is not appropriate.

I love the dopamine hits on good drops as much as the next person, but the moement any game becomes 'work' or others try to tell people they need to 'work' longer/harder/more in the context of a video game, is IME, the moment I cannot stay silent and I make a post like this.

I get that some people get angry/upset/put-out when they see another player that has something they don't think that player 'earned', I simply think the POV is the persons personal problem, not an issue with the game that needs to be addressed.

I also know it's human nature and that envy never goes away...

No, it's never bothered me that I pay $X on Day 1 for a something and a year later it's on sale for tenth the price. No, I don't care if someone that has never worked a day in thier lives has more stuff than I do. No, I don't care if a player that jumps into matches more than I do has gotten more out of the game than I have in the same time.

    MMMM, coffee.

You are correct. I should not have said 'work'. I should have said 'spending time'.

  2. I've had much the same thoughts as expressed by the OP. I don't understand the changes that were made to Arbitration, I thought that it was fine having a single life. If that was such a huge negative for some people, then just don't play arbitrations? I don't understand why they completely nerfed Railjack. I do think the enemies needed a slight reduction in strength, but they went WAY overboard. I still hold out hope that Railjack and Squad Link will actually be implemented in the was it was shown off, and not remain another content island. Liches, well I still think its one of the worst things ever implemented in the game, regardless of the changes that have been made. Auto-kill for guessing wrong definitely had to go though, failing to guess correctly just felt bad. FWIW I also liked Void Keys better than the relic system. Yes, its easier to acquire primes now, but the Void Key system encouraged longer missions, and encouraged diversity of frames in the group.

Is it all just so people can get 'stuff' without working for it?

There have been comments from DE saying in effect that they are finally able to work on the Warframe they always envisioned. Perhaps the Warframe that DE wants isn't the same game I started playing all those years ago.

War Frame is not the place for a challenge. War Frames are designed in a way that even the smarter A.I. gets hampered due to War Frame abilities. Do I seek challenge here? No.

This is a 3D fashion beauty pageant captura scene digital Pokemon toy collection where I play with the intention of having fun socializing about anything in a conversation. Is nothing more than that.

War Frame is not oriented towards high end difficulty. Asking that is the same as begging for downgrades on the war frame abilities, weapons and tenno. I don't ask for hard difficulty in here.

Warframe at one time was challenging, thought not overly so, and was enjoyable. It certainly wasn't a game where the sole reason for playing was to collect the "stuff" though it unfortunately evolved into that.

I don't think there is anyone that is asking for high end difficulty...just something that is challenging.

In my opinion Arbitrations were better when dying had real consequences and forced mission failure for youself.

    AGREED

I wish they would revert that crappy change and put arbitration back to one live only.

  5. I am personally looking forward to this. And I don't think that there should be any change to the drops in the mission from what they are currently. The entire point is to let people have the opportunity to start at a higher level than the base level. Not to speed up the grind for items/resources.

What I DO think though is that there should be some fashion frame thing that the player will receive upon completion of the entire start chart in Hard mode, and the same for ultra hard mode.

Or perhaps Ultra hard mode would increase the difficulty upon completion of the mission in Ultra hard mode. i.e. run a nod on ultra hard its base level +100. Next time you run that same node on ultra hard it base +110. Each subsequent successful completion of that node in ultra hard will increase the level boost by another 10 levels. Something "fashion frame" would be received upon completions of certain milestone levels? An emblem that changes with each completion in ultra hard?

Keep in mind that new player (especially in PoE) likely won't have access to Skywing and K-drives by the time they attempt a T4-5 bounty.

Just a couple of days go I had to witness a poor MR3 trying desperately to get to the mission area before the Mesa we had in the team wiped everything out. He never made it. Felt so bad for him, I just had to trek on foot alongside him just to keep him company.

Really wish successive bounty stages didn't spawn kilometers apart from each other.

Valid point. Change the bounties, queued for bounties only, so that it doesn't start until the entire squad is within a certain range of the bounty. There is precedence for that type of action, Fomorian, and Razorback both need all members of the squad to be within range.

personally, I wish they would have removed the archwing launcher from the open world areas once K-drives came out, at least there would have then been some reason for the things to exist....or just never added the k-drives in the first place.

  7. We don't need a faster way to kill the CS. Everything in the Veil dies instantly. I do understand however where the OP is coming from, it is clunky for the pilot to go back and forth from piloting to the arty cannon. That said, I do not think that the pilot should have access to the arty cannon as it defeats the purpose of the cannon.

I DO think that it should be possible to destroy the CS with the turrets. If you spend the time getting the health to zero with the turrets, you should be able to destroy the CS with ordinance at that point.

It should function like this: You gather ingredients in the open world areas and have an extra section for the Operator customization menu called "Eating" where you summon cooking/eating equipment and choose which food to cook/eat and see your operator eat it after it's cooked. This should also grant you buffs befitting eating like less energy consumption e.t.c.

I think it's the only thing the Orbiter is missing at this point.

God no, fishing and mining were bad enough. Warframe isn't an MMORPG

Because solutions along the lines of requiring players to be in the mission area hurts new players and hard blocking all other activities during a bounty hurts premade groups and pubs that don't care or agree to others doing that. The solution we do have is to get proof of them doing this and report the user for it which not enough players do thus nobody has reason to fear repercussions for leeching.

How does this hurt new players?

If we're taking about queueing for a bounty and then purposefully not participating in the bounty, a player should definitely not get the rewards from the bounty.

If we're taking about just going on free roam and triggering a bounty, that's a completely different situation. If a player is in free roam and triggers a bounty, the other people in that instance are certainly free to do whatever the hell the want. They still should not get the rewards from the bounty if they do not participate in it.

I'm curious on what other people think about this game in particular and its ability to immerse someone into it.

I know that to some, if not most, worldbuilding doesn't really matter in a game where you can slap on a riven on a rocket launcher and literally blow that world up, but in a game where "ninja plays free", I feel less like a ninja and more like a walking fireworks show.

I can't really think of the last time anything I've done in the game actually felt impactful to the game itself, and not even Nightwave, which was supposed to be a world-building tool to replace Alerts with, was able to sastify me, because NW Season 1 was insane (lmao, remember when Mjolnir went for like a thousand plat a piece during the first two weeks of that? Good times), and NW Season 2 was just kinda dull, imo.

I know it's a game, and I know that not all games are supposed to take themselves seriously, but in a game where the faction we're playing as is supposedly balancing an entire multi-planet solar system from being taken over by two factions and a bunch of zombies, it's hard to remember that when I'm doing the following:

    • Conserving animals for plushies
    • Shooting Rathuum Executors with water guns because their leader that's literally high on a gas leak thought it'd be fun
    • Running a mission where I need to let my presence be known to everyone, as a supposed space ninja
    • Not being able to assassinate or capture VIPs stealthily, as a supposed space ninja
    • Stealth mechanics in general are either nerfed or pretty much unheard of, as a supposed space ninja
    • Non-stealthily bombarding three walking Sentient zombies on an Open World so that NPCs we don't know/care enough about can get their beauty sleep
    • Patching holes in Venus' Cold Open World with premium coolant lest we run the risk of... absolutely nothing significant happening
    • Having to equip large space-wings to kill Formorians from the inside-out lest we run the risk of... absolutely nothing significant happening
    • Having to destroy a large Razorback by hacking into the Corpus' own Bursas lest we run the risk of... absolutely nothing significant happening

Listen. I'm not saying not to make the game FUN. You can make the game FUN in ways that actually SHAPE THE WORLD AROUND THE PLAYERS. I know the upcoming Nightwave Season 3 is trying to remedy this, but I'm not all that optimistic, especially after the last three mainline updates and 6-month Nora Night hiatus.

The game needs direction. This game is going into so many different directions that if you tried looking at them all at the same time, your neck would twist its way off your body.

Quit adding. Take what you have, UNIFY it, BUILD on it, MAKE it so that the things you do IMPACT how the game acts, and THEN add more layers on top of it. Not layers like "let's take a ninja and give them a spaceship, and then let's not make that spaceship integrate itself into the base game as promised, and then let's revisit the spaceship mode itself instead of integrating it like we promised 2 years ago". Layers that will fit the base game, give it a singular, streamlined direction, and ultimately make for a much, more immersive experience.

Because if you're going to blow thousands of enemies up with a Grineer-based explosive bow-and-arrow, you should at least know... why you're doing it.

    YES! a thousand times YES!

Floofs, Dog Days, Frame Fighter, Lunaro, Mining, Fishing, New Archwing flight, Derpy Liches that were supposed to be an actual Nemesis, not some whimsical clown. An enemy robot spider that broadcasts its vulnerability on its head.

There is great potential, however I am feeling more and more lately that DE isn't interested in creating a "serious" game. I feel this trend will continue though, [DE]Scott said they want to make it more 'Arcadey'"

Compare that to the demo shown two years ago.

See the difference? Skip the activity of other Warframes and the technicalities of the Railjack. Just compare how awesome are those maps in the demo filed with lots of details with THAT WE HAVE NOW. The demo felt like an awesome Robotech game. The real thing feels generic.

This is why people are angry.

    THIS ^

What was pitched is not remotely close to what was delivered. When I got my first glimpse of the "Squad Link" in the Scarlet Spear my first thought was "Wow - we just got Anthem'd"

  12. General Railjack Feedback -

I feel that the "bones" of Railjack are currently in a fairly good place, there is however no depth to it at all. There is great potential in Railjack, but it needs a great deal of fleshing out.

I'd like to see more mission types added, including more missions that involve sentient forces. Mission types that involve defeating, or repelling enemy sentient forces

I'd like to see additional enemy ship types added. There should be enemy battleships, aircraft carriers, destroyers, etc.

I'd like to see more avionics slots. NOT more avionic capacity, but additional slots that would provide for additional customization.

I'd like to see Railjack loadout slots. Perhaps even three pre-defined, switchable, roles? Railjacks should be able to be customized so they would be better suited for, hopefully soon to be added, additional mission types.

I envision a railjack being able to be customized to the point to be able to play as a certain role.

Want to outfit your railjack to be an archwing platform? You can do that by fitting avionics, perhaps even a new style of turret that cannot be manned, but that is a capable, automated close in defense system. Avionics would give the archwings a SIGNIFICANT boost. A Railjack outfitted in this manner is essentially an aircraft carrier, virtually zero offensive capability on its own. All offensive capabilities come from Archwings, which will be boosted significantly via loaded avionics. Enemy fighters should prioritize archwings as targets, rather than the Railjack. Archwings should be a far higher threat to the fighters than the Railjack, enemy fighters should be smart enough to recognize this fact. Crewships would still prioritize the Railjack as the target.

Railjack outfitted as fast frigates. Currently possible to a degree if you use all of the speed boost avionics, weapon avionics, but perhaps would need to sacrifice armor/hull. I'd like the Railjack speed to be buffed from what is possible now, but that would come at the expense of armor. The entire squad would need to be manning the railjack for the majority of any mission when outfitted in this fashion. Archwing would be ship to ship transport (boarding) only.

Railjack Battleship/Battlecruiser - Big, Tanky, Lumbering, Huge guns to delete  enemy capital ships. (again hopefully additional enemy variety will be added) Current nose turret replaced by close in weapons defense system. Pilot now controls the Artillery. Fighters need to be handled by combination of battle avionics, and the automated defense system. Big guns allow you to hammer the missing defense platform to rubble so that its no longer firing missiles at you. The platform would could eventually repair itself a ground team would be required to silence it permanently.

You do know that solo is an option, yes? If you want to play with others and force them to do exactly what you want then you're never going to have a good time in pubs.

And arbitrarily locking systems from other players is a terrible idea, to what purpose does it serve for people to join a mission and find they're not allowed to do anything other than be a repair jockey and use the side guns besides preserving the host's ego?

Playing solo doesn't fix the problem, it just avoids it.

While I have never had a negative experience with others when I've hosted RJ missions, granted haven't hosted all that many, I firmly believe only the host should be allowed to pilot the ship, its the hosts ship after all. I don't think the host should have ability to lock out resources, or prevent people from using missiles for example. I do think the pilot should be the only one with the ability to activate battle avionics (void hole, munitions vortex, etc.). Any crew member should be able to use tactical avionics, or missiles.

If ever I was in the same situation as the OP though, I would have just bailed out of the mission as soon as I noticed people wasting resources.

  14. Part of the problem here, and with many other "missions" lately is that there is a single point of focus. In this one you only get the SS credits for the kill codes, which means that everyone is specifically focused on that one task. There is (was) a great deal of opportunity with Scarlet Spear, despite the fact that squad link turned out to be nothing like what it should have been, or at least what I expected it to be. If players also received SS credits for killing the Grineer in the RJ side of the mission, perhaps players would not be singularly focused....build RJ for speed and just tow the thing to the ship as fast possible. Or there could have been a third "mission" component of fighting the Grineer in RJ. Wiping out Grineer crew ships would limit/reduce/eliminate the grineer in the Murex mission. The condrix mission should have been on PoE...drop ships and archwing added to the mix.

Are k-drives cool? Yeah. Do I wish people used k-drives more? Yeah. Do I wish I could use k-drives go get from point A to point B and not be a total hindrance on my team? Of course

Didn't say I liked k drives. I think they are wretched things that do not fit in the game. But I also don't play Warframe to complete a mission as fast, or "efficiently" possible.

  16. 10 hours ago, CaptainMinty said:

Also, I know this is probably and unpopular opinion, but I think Archwing should never have been added to the Plains and Vallis as an option. The K Drive and perhaps a land bike should've been our Vallis and Plains options. They were destined to become taxis when they were given to us for those places, and look, they became taxis

Agree completely. Unfortunately archwing on Poe existed before k drives. IMHO they would have removed archwing from PoE and vallis with the intro of k drive. Then we wouldn't have had to see all the posts on "make k drives as fast as archwings"

That's not necessarily what the game is supposed to be about, that's what you've decided the game is "supposed to be about". Not everyone plays Warframe to get through a mission as quickly as possible.
