It should maybe get stabbed into the enemy and generate a field that heals/gives energy based on the number of corpses in range.

Yeah, that too sounds nice. Personally with my suggestions i usually tend to stick to existing mechanics so that DE don't have to waste too much time on small changes, I believe we have no such existing mechanics that could be attached to it, while I think it would be a better and more fun mechanic than my small suggestion.

  2. Hello,

So let's talk about Broken Scepter's gimmick, which is:

    Quote

It has a special ability that allows the player to 'drain' deceased enemies to gain health or energy orbs.

It's a nice mechanic that makes it unique and offers new possibilities for builds and play-styles for players. However the execution of that gimmick completely kills it.

Showcased at the bottom in the video, the way it works right is:

    1. You kill an enemy
    2. You stand above the enemy
    3. You press X
    4. You wait for the orb to be generated

It's a very problematic way to use it's ability. Melee these days gets a lot of improvements to be fluid and streamlined experience, however, using the gimmick this way, not only stops your battle flow but also, while you wait for the orb to generate, your enemies can crowd you and keep attacking you. Additionally, orbs give very little energy and especially health, so in any instance you actually need to rely on these orbs, you most definitely do not want to be open for incoming attacks even for a second.

My suggestion is to take away the "Press X" mechanic and just make it generate orbs from killed enemies. To not make it too overpowered, not all enemies should generate these orbs, just a certain percentage.

The orb generation does not need to be instantaneous too, it's enough if the orb will be generated after the body naturally decays.  To add a nice touch, a red or blue particle cloud can be added to the bodies that are about to generate an orb.

Losing the weapon is not a drawback unless you are using Helios and Deconstructor. It isn't a sufficient sacrifice to allow Sentinels to do the only thing they are useful for, for longer. Their utility is based on their survivability. Raise one part without a drop in the other and it is not even remotely reasonable.

    Maybe?

It's a wasted slot if almost nobody actually uses it. From game development perspective, what's worse? Something that is not used at all or something that is more heavily balanced to one side (defense) than the other (offense) ? Personally I think that a completely wasted slot is worse than an unbalanced one, unless it breaks the game. Not that easy to break warframe with bad balance thou.

  4. Suggestion: Let us replace Sentinel weapon with a portable nullifier bubble generator for sentinel.

Reason: Most people don't use sentinel weapon to improve it's survivability, they do not care about it's offensive power and the slot is wasted. Also sentinels need defense against huge eximus enemy attacks that are the main reason why they die in a mission - my tanky frame suffers 0 consequence while sentinel dies the moment it gets respawned.

After the Umbra toggle, I guess it should be slightly easier.

It's even simpler. Vauban and Rhino already have prime details toggle for tennogen skin. They just need to apply the button for Steam skins too. The umbra toggle actually required some programming because those were not prime accessories, someone had to actually select the scarf for removal. The prime accesories that need to be removed are the same, weather it's steam, immortal or any skin other than tennogen.

Given it hasn't happened, wouldn't it be extremely safe to say this isn't as easy as you think it is?

There's literally no money to be made by touching the Rubedo and Phased skins.

It has happened before. See Mesa Immortal skin and Excalibur Umbra scarf (the scarf probably did involve more work thou). Also IIRC when they initially added that feature, it took at max 4 days between the "we gona try something" and "we did it".

Yes, they are probably not making any money with phased or rubedo skin, they are with immortal skins thou. A lot of people do enjoy the fashionframe with those and additional screenshots and pique the interest for new people, that have never seen those skins, would not hurt. The skins are still available for trading on Steam.

It's kind of an edge case though isn't it?  Do any other weapons (or even Warframes) have what are essentially two augment mods that alter the same thing in different directions?  Warframes have avoided this so far by only getting one Augment per power.  (As far as I know anyway.)  Is there another weapon with what are essentially two different augments?

That's a very good point, yes. While I see nothing that would go against it, aside from Scott probably being afraid of things randomly breaking even more than they do, mostly Warframe has avoided that. But then looking through the list I found that Sobek has Acid Shell and Shattering Justice. Unfortunately I do not own Sobek to test this for 100% proof, but if they do work together (so far it looks they do) a precedent has been set for that.

  8. Honestly it feels very wrong and a bit lazy that those 2 mods can not be combined. We have the technology, why can we not use it? It would create a fun tactic and, for a weapon of war, a pretty effective one too. I see no way for it to become overpowered especially with the minuscule damage that napalm effect does.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree or do you see a way for that to become way too overpowered and resulting in nerfs? Or do you not care for penta will never a fun weapon for you?
    Should we raise awareness?

  9. Just a quick idea for whenever dual-wielding finally upgrades.

Dual-wielding one-hand non-throwable melee and secondary pistols should launch with a secondary pistol that shoots flashbang grenades and a sniper rifle with flashbang alt-fire.

    Main points for secondary:

    • Blinding opens enemies for finishers.
    • Blinding range should not be more than 5 to 8 meters.
    • Shooting one round uses the whole clip.
    • Weapon does not physical damage.
    • Adding elemental mods to weapon will let it do small elemental procs.
    • Flashbang colour does not change with energy colour but tint changes with main elemental damage on it.

Bonus: Alt-fire on secondary launches a flare that lights up the area? Useful in darker tilesets?

    Main points for sniper rifle:

    • Main fire does regular physical sniper rifle damage.
    • Main fire mode similar to Rubico, has more tactical weapon feel to it.
    • Alt-fire launches flash grenade.
    • Blinding range should not be more than 5 to 8 meters.
    • One blinding round uses 2-3 sniper ammo, but only one flashbang available per reload.
    • Flashbang grenade uses it's own barrel when shot.
    • Flashbang colour does not change with energy colour but tint changes with main elemental damage on it.

In a practical sense you expect certain elements to behave a certain way. Fire isn't cold, milk doesn't taste like water, and large carnivorous insects aren't cute just because you put blush stickers on them. So I expect light not to accidentally push me down a flight of stairs when I think it's too dark in the room.

Really? You bringing in physics as an argument in warframe? Ok, fine, I will bite.

So how about this. It's a new source of light, a light formet by linking photons together the same way atoms link together to build solid materials. If enough of those photons are linked together, they will create solid material that might as well push you down the stairs. To make it into a proper lighstaber, you just treat the hilt as the crystal generator. So when you turn it on, it's not laser light that grows out of the hilt, it's a light crystal with proper density and form that grows out of it and upon touching other materials, it releases the photons from the crystals, which means it releases high volumes of energy against the other surface, generating heat and radiation. When you turn off the hilt, the light crystal instantly breaks down because it lost its source of energy that held it together.

I'm not physicist but I think this should make some sense.

My team was unable to interact with the Eidolon Shrine in the middle of the lake, despite everyone having Brilliant Shards and we even killed a Teralyst before trying again. Just couldn't interact with it since no prompt came up. I logged out and relogged in to try again, still couldn't interact.

Confirming that it happened to my team as well.

Two out-of-the-ordinary things that happened during that fight:

Our trinity (who was a client, not host, I believe) was showing up for me (also a client) as having full unranked loadout. That was not the case, only a visual bug.

During the whole Teralyst fight we had 3 lures, one lure survived after capturing the Teralyst. Teralyst was captured near the lake shrine.

I got EE.log saved if necessary.

  12. Volt was locked from using Discharge ability during a Survival alert ( Charybdis (Sedna) | Survival (Grineer) | Level: 38-42 ).

I used that ability successfully without any problems in 2 missions before that, without logging off from the game. Maximum energy on that build was 220, which is enough for my ability with above 100 efficiency. All other abilities functioned fine. I observed other squad mates using their 4th abilities effortlessly. Died twice during the mission, didn't fix the problem.

I would add ee.log file if that would help, but for the life of me I can not figure out how the hell am I supposed to attach it and I'm out of time to look search for it.

Not me. I just got it from the last acolyte event and I love it. I use it not only on whips, but on every kind of melee weapon. It is very versatile and so useful in high level sorties.

I wouldn't change a thing about MS. There are alternatives out there that can do similar damage. Before I got my MS, I used a 2-forma Lesion that wrecked anything in front of me. The Maiming Strike/Blood Rush combo is very efficient against high level enemies. It's when players use them in low level missions that others find it annoying...

You took the quote out of context. I meant that people that have maiming strike but dislike using it, have commented on how badly designed it is and how annoying the macro-people are to them.

And to answer people that haven't heard anyone complain about it, I can believe that, yes. With second-hand opinion one has to consider that people surround themselves with other like-minded people, not ones that disagree with them. So if you love the mod and have surrounded yourself with people that have similar thinking to yours, it's very likely you won't hear anyone complain about it. Yet the divide is there and there are people who have voiced the opinion for a nerf (DE included), that's why I'm making this thread.

And to respond to some people that won't care about my reply: Yes, I do have Maiming strike and my opinion towards it is rather neutral. I use it myself a lot because I liked slide attacks before they were cool, so that mod was made for me. But I can see how harming that mod can be to ones gameplay experience when people with macros run around. Sure, yes, the mod can be replaced by a number of different builds that let you slide around, but the existance of it pushes the "An interesting advanced way to play that some people do" to "Every kid and their mom does it by using 2 minute tutorial". I myself just ignore it, but would have nothing against re-building my builds to make them more creative than current one-build-to-slide-them-all if it came to it. I am certainly not crying for it or demanding the changes. What I certainly don't want and am against is another reason for the community to become downright toxic because their thing got nerfed too hard and this thread is my way to try and combat that by gathering opinions and discussing what people think.

You say that chromas multiplier was broken, by what metric?

    This:

Vex Armor - Fixed a longstanding issue with number calculation being multiplicative. Boosts now apply before upgrades instead of after, making the ability consistent with all other damage boosting abilities. Overshields are now considered for Vex Armor. Chroma's Vex Armor remains one of the top performing damage-multipliers in the game - and it's now an aura! Instead of just being focused on Chroma, it can now benefit allies in range.

Veteran players, have played the game for a long time and thus can much more easily asses what are the problems of the game, if they didn't like it and thought that the whole game was "wrong" they wouldn't be Vets now would they, Vets give feedback about whats broken and done wrong because they are the best people to talk about it and asses it for they have played for so long they have seen the game evolve and experienced all its stages, from begginer to vet.

You missed the point. In short (which doesn't give justice to my elaboration), vets very often promote boring gameplay because they have done everything that was fun for them and still stick around out of habit, trying to reach some self-set milestones.

Also, maybe I'm reading you wrong, if so, sorry, but I think you didn't account for me being MR25 when writing that

My main appeal for warframe and why I keep coming back to it are the various ways to play. ... But in warframe I can always bring something new with me, try a new weapon, a new build, a new warframe, new fashionframe even, all kinds of stuff and farm away using those.

Or in other words: Someone nerfed your go-to banshee that you used to AFK with? Go take another frames and actually play and have fun.

But yes, if having fun and playing the game is not someone's thing, he should pick up another game probably. That's not even being subjective.

    1 hour ago, Kahapi said:

DO you understand what i am talking about now?

Seems I was not being a captain obvious enough. I don't farm a boring farm ever and you should not subject yourself to it either. It's either you actually spend plat (which a lot of people that have nothing else left to do have an excess of) or you find something else to do in the game. Or just come back later when you find enjoyable doing that farm. Farming oxium or cryotic can be done in many various ways too, you are not forced to always run a minmaxed Nekros with best slash weapon in game or Frost with premade teams. You can level up a new weapon with mechanic you haven't tried before while farming that. Try out a new build with a riven. Go for some made-up challenge like running with operator only. Run with friends and $&*^ around. Help newbies with something while you farm. Hell, you can go out and earn that money in real world and just buy plat with it, an analog way to farm. Tons of ways to make farm interesting.

Only way I'm going to do boring farm is if I actually get paid for it. And I already got a job and not looking to become a twitch streamer.

But I don't live in illusions. I will not change your view on world if you think that getting a best possible minmaxed build is payment enough for couple hours of watching grass grow, it's your choice. A lot of people won't agree, that's why vets in any game are a huge minority.

because NO ONE ARGUES THAT, NO ONE LIKES BORING GRIND

As I mentioned before, it was a reply in another thread on Reddit. I copied it to waste less time re-writing my general opinion about people doing boring farm. Here is the link so you can base your attacks on something: https://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/7v1yhf/potato_on_the_lastest_round_of_nerfs/

Also I will quote myself again about the Hydroid puddle thing from the same Reddit thread:

    Quote

Much like Limbo never amounting to what people expected, neither did Hydroid with his abilities, so the idea of the puddle was and is bad, but in no way that inalidates his rework. The puddle actuallt gained movement and interactivity with all other of his abilities, so instead of just being puddle and staying an immovable puddle that does nothing but slowly drown enemies that come to it, Hydroid can be a mobile puddle-lord that can pull enemies, cast tentacles and rain that hurts and effectively move from one choke-point to another at will, without releasing enemies barely unharmed like before the rework. The rework accomplished exactly what it wanted - more interactivity and synergy.

    Quote

Before rework hydroid had to literally wait and do nothing while enemies drowned inside his puddle. Same like Banshee has to wait and do nothing while her quake kills the enemies. Pattern of removing the "wait and do nothing" gameplay is right there. That's interactivity. If you still choose to sit in one place with Hydroid with all those tools, that's the same as choosing to sit in one place with Ember and WoF or Excalibur and his exalted blade or, F***, any ranged weapon. And that's your own damn fault that you want to squat like a slav when you are given the tools not to do so.

And despite you desperately trying to attack me, originally my only problem with your thread was that you assume the nerfs are about loot. I honestly didn't come in here caring about anything else.
