Other games do this with content creators I don’t get why DE won’t do it

I do, but my comment got deleted and I got a warning point for it, so I'm not going to repeat it. Suffice to say it's a more general problem within the company that is impacting the game in a variety of ways, this particular issue being only one of many.

  2. That's the middle of the night. No more drops for me, I guess. That's great. That's just great. I get it, you don't want to keep streaming yourselves. That's fine, you don't have to. Why not just enable drops for all WF streams on Twitch? That's the easiest, most obvious solution that would make literally everybody happy.

It did start out as a last-ditch effort by DE. So I would call it a passion-project considering they wanted to make the game for years. I guess it's no longer a passion-project but a business, but it was indeed made as one. There is a nice documentary about it, actually :)

I've seen parts of it. It seemed more like a long ad, so I didn't watch all of it. And yes, I'm aware DE made the game when they were on the verge of bankruptcy. It's not clear to me how that indicates it was a passion project rather than a for-profit venture; surely making a profit off of it was even more important under those circumstances.

A passion project of this nature requires funding. Those aren't mutually exclusive...

    They are by definition.

Does that mean I have to hand in my BA in economics now? Man what S#&$ty professors I had since I did not know that.

I'm glad there's something we can agree on. 🙂

The spenders get something extra, without spenders the game would make no profit thus game death

Guess what, without free players the game would die even quicker. Free players are item farmers for spenders; without item farmers, spenders would have nothing to trade their platinum for and therefore no reason to buy platinum in the first place. Free players are the bedrock WF's entire business model rests on.

I can do math. But just because DE decided a price a few years ago does not set it in stone. I haven't done the math but I'm pretty sure all of those items used to cost more when they where part of the Prime Access. Also what if DE said they changed the price to adjust for inflation? Would that be ok? (point being that pricing is never a science or a math problem)

You're right that the price is not set in stone, as evidenced by the fact that it has effectively been increased. You are, however, wrong otherwise; pricing very much is a math/science problem. Figuring out how much people can be squeezed before reaching their breaking point is something corporations have literally had down to a science for some decades now.

Platinum is tradeable, cosmetics have been reserved for those willing to spend on the game as appreciation.

What difference does that make? Someone somewhere paid for the plat. Free plat is not tradable.

Because who cares about transaction cost right?
Also there is no "real" price for what a digital good should cost. It is solely up to DE to decide the price and the consumers to decide if they want to buy at that price. Obviously price expectations plays a part of the later but there's no "what they would cost if not bundled" because that has never happened before.

That is the price they decided those items should cost. It's the $20 for a prime accessory pack minus the cost of the plat in that pack, then the remainder divided in a 2:1 ratio between major and minor cosmetics (as per the Resurgence cost of 2 or 1 aya respectively).

I've not bought any Prime cosmetic or bundles, but what is "good enough"? What's the measure to reach?

The best and most consumer-friendly way to handle this would be to sell Prime cosmetics separately for what they would cost if not bundled with anything. Which, in case you're wondering, would be about $4.50 for a major cosmetic (e.g. syandana, armor) and about $2.25 for a minor one (glyph, sugatra). Almost two thirds of the price of a Prime Vault accessory pack was made up by plat that was only included precisely to pad out the price, so if you take that out, that's the real value of those cosmetics.

I am very sad to say you have shaken out trust with this greed.

Same. I find it very puzzling as well, since the trend over the preceding years was for WF monetization to become less and less predatory. I wonder what's behind this reversal. Are the Chinese overlords demanding more tribute or something? We may never know.

What aspect? You lost me a bit there. :)

So the most efficient way to spend your money in Resurgence is to buy two 15-aya packs, then spend that regal aya on three dual-frame bundles. That way your $160 buys you 2400 plat and 150K endo along with the prime items. In classic Prime Vault, those three bundles with the same prime items would cost $180, but you'd end up with 3600 plat instead and no endo. So in classic Prime Vault, those $20 extra bought you 1200p, which was an amazing deal, and if you wanted to, you could turn about 550 of that extra plat into 150K endo by buying sculptures from players.

DE hoped we wouldn't notice that Resurgence is a price hike, as is evident from the passive-aggressive tone of this announcement.

Ah. Still, I think this makes more people happy with being able to buy the Raya Packs they want, get some Plat, and get their favorite Accessories/Noggles to boot.

Yeah, but it's just the standard DE MO of making something horrible, waiting for the outcry, improving it to only bad, and reaping praise for listening to feedback. They do that with grind in every single update, now they decided to do it with monetization. And it seems it's working well as ever.

This doesn't actually do anything to prevent that either, since if you miss the pop-up, it goes into your inventory to claim later.

Yup. As far as I can tell, it's just an inconvenience for no good reason.

I actually prefer this over guessing that I got the drop while at work.

So if you see that you haven't... what exactly are you going to do with that information?

Negative Part of the Rework, they removed her World on Fire Speed Run Ability.
Positive Part of the Rework, they made her a viable frame, being able to combine her abilities instead of focussing mostly on WoF.

Yes, but we had dozens of other viable frames, what we didn't have was anyone else able to make low-level missions as fast and effortless as Ember. Some come close, but none can quite match her. I think we lost more than we gained.
