Thank you for including my post!

I agree with everything you said as well, with particular focus on:

    •   Prices missing in Sell Items menus
    •   Less contrast in default UI scheme overall. In particular, the "grayed out" feeling everything has when not hovered.

    4. There is no visual hierarchy to the menu system. We need an address bar at the top that lets us go back to a higher portion of the menu or quick jump to a different menu entirely.

I like this idea. There already is something similar at the top of the screen in Inventory which says "INVENTORY/SELL" but it's not interactable... I think.

    5. UI customization should not be a platinum cost. Link the available colors to your color pallet system and make money that way. Have a Reset UI color button on the log in screen in case a user sets all colors to black.

You can have both. Allow user to change colors manually to what palettes they already have, and charge plat for already premade themes made by actual visual designers who know what they're doing. Not 50 plat though, that's a bit ridiculous.

  3. I know this is as "first world problem" as it gets, but...

I have made a dedicated forum post long ago, after UI redesign was announced, here:

This appears to went largely ignored.

New UI problems on 16:3 aspect ratio:

    sfmDoeb.jpg

Horizontal space is completely unused. Old inventory screen actually used available space (see linked forum post)

    e9etURg.jpg

Notice the squad buttons on the top left - they used to be accessible from the middle.

I'd greatly appreciate if you'd support multiple monitors in your UI design! Please!

  4. Hello,

Through the forums, tweets and Devstreams, a variety of different UI redesign options were presented. I am very worried that these new redesigns could potentially reduce visibility and usability we currently have on ultrawide (21:9) and wider (16:3) displays so far. I use 3x monitors via nVidia Surround and my menus frequently look like this:

    tbslJEJ.jpg

    0HFS6DY.jpg

    JyneY2H.jpg

New UI concepts appear to all be vertically-based. Which is fine, I understand a lot of people hate horizontal scrolling (to be honest I'm not too attached to it either) but PLEASE consider figuring out a way to fill out all available horizontal space, whatever arbitrary aspect ratio there may be.

    Thank you in advance!

  5. Hi, fellow tenno with triple-digits of gameplay hours!

In the past I made similar feedback forum posts, once regarding the Market (on which I whole heartedly agree that interface is a complete miss), and even a positive feedback post directed towards DE because I figured that the hard working people grinding away in that studio can definitely use it.

I'm gonna throw some shots at some random points in your post, just to vent a bit.

Starter frames - I believe the actual offer completely off. Excalibur seems to be the single best choice of the frame in regards to "difficulty" curve that it will present before you, in the upcoming missions, before you fill up your garage. Not trying to make any assumptions, but there is definitely a pattern I'm seeing (both online and IRL) in regards to choosing Mag, and quitting the game relatively early on. But I'll chalk it up to confirmation bias.

The Market - definitely sucks. It's only purpose seems to be pushing "Use your Platinum here!" buttons in front of you, while providing actual game-critical items seems to be an afterthought shoved into system that's not designed for it. I am still fumbling around trying to buy DNA Stabilizers and getting frustrated because I'm accidentally in the wrong category, or I forgot one of the checkboxes (Brotip: [Blueprint Only] checkbox will remove DNA stabilizers from your search!). And it's one of the first things a new player will encounter and HAVE to deal with.

If there was a pie-chart of "reasons you lost players before they liked the game enough to give you cash", 90% of it would be "Your Market Interface" and 10% "They don't have spare cash anyway".

Weapons - Eh, for the most part, MR locks are OK (still remember the adrenaline rush of nearing that MR12 rank, clearing the test, and getting the glorious guns I always wanted), it's the aesthetic of some of the weapons I have a problem with. Some guns are cool as sh*t (Opticor, new Arca stuff, generally Corpus tech looks nice), some are OK - Tigris Prime is bit weird-ish but that's fine.

But for the love of God, yes I'm aware you have superb physics simulation in your engine, DE. I use nvidia PhysX, I enjoy my Syndanas, but the genitalia on that Kuva guns is totally uncalled for. I don't care of Zarr is the most powerful end-game destroying meta-weapon in the game, the second it hits lvl 30, it goes in the trash before the gun rank particle effects disappear.

Energy Restoration - Never really been a problem. From the start you can buy those small Energy pizza boxes from the market, then it's Energy Syphon aura, then it's Large Team Energy pizza boxes from Dojo (assuming you don't have/want Trinity). Also, a Nekros can decently replace EV on non-energy critical missions due to number of energy balls getting desecrated.

Archwings - I know I'm in the minority, but I enjoy the sh*t out of archwing missions. Too bad there's so few of them. I dunno, just the feeling of free-form flying with direct controls, it's kinda like lucid dreaming flying, just with huge cannons and better graphics.

    ---

And at the end of the day, I really love Warframe and the team behind it.

I will forever appreciate that they never started following sh*tty trends like lootboxes or paywalls or P2W bullsh*t;. I love that amidst all the battle-royale and MOBA and other "Kill thy breathren" crap saturating the market today, they built a game around co-operation, helping your fellow players, and making a game with one of the friendliest and kindest communities today.

And they said "Yeah it's all free, and even the premium currency you can get for free, so I dunno, give us cash if you want, if not it's cool".

Already caved in once, and next time I see that 75% discount at login... I am but a man.

  6. Hello and warm greetings from Croatia!

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I hope you're all having nice holidays and are not working too much during the festive season :p

First off, I was amazed at the Tennobaum event organization and the kind gesture behind it all. It really speaks volumes about both the developers and the community of the game. Seriously, like seven thousand gifts according to the "Most generous tenno" table? How?

Anyway I was finally in position to give away a gift or two. I have been playing since before I had some sort of disposable income lying around and once that happened, I figured, I do owe these guys some money because according to in-game time counter I'm a bit north of 400 hours played so far. Which is weird because normally I don't like MMO's, but this barely qualifies as an MMO, does it? My next login discount was used and I found myself in a pile of platinum. It was pretty amazing to have the following conversation with a friend:

Friend: "AAAHHH 24 runs in, still haven't gotten Ivara chassis"
    Me: "Oh that reminds me..."
    ...
    Me: "Just bought Ivara."

Felt amazing. (Not to mention playing with Ivara, holy S#&$, plz don't nerf, DE!)

So there's that, I'm hoping to maybe give away a few more gifts when I get online for 2 days more after this one, and definitely hoping to drop some more cash towards DE for, well, basically writing history in online gaming.

P.S. Oh yeah about my request. Pretty pretty please. I sunk a few _months_ in between college obligations and new work to farm out 20 Kavat DNAs only to have the uhhh, "aesthetically questionable" head model on my first Smeeta. You know the one. Figured, oh well, wanted to throw her in the reactor furnace but those 3x pickups and red crits, yo! (It was after that I still decided to drop money in the game). Bought fresh set of Kavat DNAs off market, rushed incubation. Cutest Adarza kitty you've ever seen. Mature. AGAIN (second time in a row) - the weird head model.

Can I please, pretty please ask for a re-roll of the random face mesh of my last Adarza (if not already for both Kavats) if at all possible?

    http://imgur.com/a/99jgl

It used to be so easy to just bash developers' work with rude words before I got a job as a game dev. I do understand that the design and modelling and rigging and re-re-retesting is all somebody's hard work and pride. I truly mean no insult, but to be perfectly honest, the disappointment of seeing the same head model again after dropping platinum on it... it's just a bit off-putting.

Then how is it different than the carrier we have now? Plus, how does it determine if we need the resource or not? If it's additional storage, then it doesn't really solve the "carrier above all" problem, does it? People would request a storage room for all sentinels, then we have to buff carrier and other companions as well, and then it will spout out and spider web into different directions, which means even more things need to be reworked, and it'll be an endless nightmare cycle, making the situation even worse. Has anyone really thought this through?

You're surprised that not all end users make great game designers and engineers? :D

As an indie game developerwannabe I feel DE's pain in the whole situation. On one hand you have the community feedback which you need to listen. On other hand, tons of people who think that the best idea ever is to have a Draco^2 mission where you instantly get "YOU WIN" screen as soon as you join it, and mods that fit all pets that provide every currently implemented functionality and then some.

no, easily solved by having a good cooling solution in the first place.

Notebooks are SOL on that part for budget models, but Desktops setup correctly should never have any thermal problems.
i clean my filters maybe once a year. thermals are always the same regardless, i'm just doing it because it starts to look gross.

Throttling or Emergency shutdown is a problem not because it exists, but because you don't want it to happen, so you keep it from triggering. by keeping thermals down.

True, notebooks are SOL on that part regardless of budget range.

And, really, true on all other accounts. My post was mostly focused on laptops. You apparently know your computer maintenance - therefore, you've probably been known "that guy who's good with computers" every once in a while, and therefore you are PROBABLY aware of other people's knowledge on computer maintenance (or, lack thereof to be more precise). So yeah that "desktops setup correctly" part is never a given :D

I've even seen desktops clogged with dust so hard that thermal throttling and shutdown occurs.

    So all in all,

"Game caused my temps to go up" - no problem.

"High temps (doesn't matter what they're caused by) caused my computer to shut down" - problem

  9. 14 hours ago, taiiat said:

temperatures that high start to cause throttling, and a few degrees higher gets into the emergency shutdown levels.

problem A causes a significant performance reduction until the overheating components start to cool back down a bit, and problem B means your computer instantly shuts off.

That is true, I'm currently experiencing thermal throttling related performance issues, can't wait until I catch a free afternoon to dust off my laptop. Bit nervous about it too, Acer Nitro series aren't easy to take apart :(

But anyway, thermal throttling is there for a reason - again, to make sure no harm comes to your hardware components, same as thermal shutdown. Easily solved via:

    1) Lifting your laptop off the desktop surface a bit. Most laptops are designed too thin to allow normal airflow through the air intakes. Mine is, and it's supposed to be a "gamer laptop". Wouldn't believe it.

    2) Dusting off your laptop. Matter of fact, most laptop manufacturers do not put warranty void seals across access needed to dust off the fans and airways - this is expected "maintenance" from the end user, actually. You have every right to perform such maintenance on your laptop configuration, the laptop cooling isn't built to last without regular maintenance.

IF, however, the problem is on a desktop PC, that relies on dusting off your components as well. Rule of thumb:

Laptop: Dust off every 3 months

    Desktop: every 6 months.

If you have excessively "robust" build of any laptop/desktop configuration, then multiply those by 2.

  10. If your increased graphical fidelity didn't actually cause lower framerates or general performance issues...

What is exactly is the problem? 90°C on CPU is a bit on the high end but still within actual operating parameters both for desktop and laptop CPU's. My laptop's CPU goes up to 90°C and GPU up to 85°C, that's normal. Remember, nearly all components, including the entire GPU chip, is soldered to the GPU card/laptop Motherboard using reflow soldering, which means it's submersed in 180°C+ Liquid metal for a few seconds. It's built to withstand that.

In any event, dusting off the heatsinks and airways (if laptop) would help bring it down a bit (which coincidentally I'm a bit overdue, but anyway), but this is no cause for alarm.

As for the actual core of the issue, yeah the game not respecting your selected graphics settings is most definitely a bug. Did the settings also stealth-revert back upon playing any other mission?

  11. 17 minutes ago, HAYABU5A said:

WHY IS IT SO SENSITIVE NOW ?

even with all settings and mouse on lowest dpi possible its impossible to move around smoothly

    (unless thats just a bug?)

Probably a bug on your side, I'm not seeing any particular over-sensitivity in archwing mode on my mouse (also custom mouse software, highly customizable DPI levels etc etc). My Archwing sensitivity settings are at defaults. If you've touched yours, perhaps that's it, I understand that the sensitivity sliders on Archwing are bugged in at least one way so far.

An incubator upgrade segment dropped for me yesterday ... then I saw the Alloy Plate requirement. I have over 300 hours played and just over 100k Alloy Plate. Quite aside from the horror stories I'm reading regarding DNA drop rates, the Alloy Plate requirement is well and truly enough for me to just not bother.

You guys gave me a proper scare, so I just went to check, I am also at over 300 hours (well, 360 to be more precise), but I am currently sitting on some 217k Alloy plates.

Would it be rude for me to assume this discrepancy can be explained by the fact that Alloy plates don't drop on Draco? :D

EDIT - I'm an idiot. I just checked Wiki, Alloy plates do drop on Draco. WTF. My bad.

i agree there should be some kind of mission search or filter x

Awesome post man, also LOL, 100 platinum reward for mission :D

    Loving your "recommended" mission idea.

While a mission text search could be useful, I'm not 100% sure how would the results of the search be displayed. Typing in market just dynamically discards all currently viewed items not meeting the search text string in any way, but in a star map... perhaps also it basically just blanks out the missions not under that name?

You clearly put way more effort into a mockup idea than I did.

Let's hope the devs take some of this into consideration! :)

  14. Apologies if it's in the wrong section. I think that putting it into 30th-something page of Starmap feedback would just make it get buried and not get noticed.

So, here's an idea to add something to all that blank space to the starmap, yes?

I know I forgot a lot of mission types but I ain't going back to rework that, I'm a S#&$ty designer anyway, you get the point.

With that said, also ideas for filters:

    • Dark Sector
    • Void
    • By faction:
      • Grineer
      • Corpus
      • Infested
      • Corrupted

    Thoughts?

  15. I would also love the ability to turn off or remove the Prime's bugbutt/lobster tail / whachyawannacallit.

It is purely amazing how out of place, jokingly bad designed that is. Why?! I wear Izvara Syndana just to cover that freaking thing up. I mean the "wings" on the side or whatever those pieces of cloth on left and right are, are quite awesome. With Izvara, bullet-jumping is majestic as f*ck (surpassed only by Equinox with Izvara), but WHY is there a bug carapace sticking out of my Trin's butt?!

Joke on the side: What's worse is that every once in a while you get to ride a fast elevator down in a Corpus map, just to see what you're missing. :p

  16. Personally I'm loving the new Archwing. 3 different flying speeds, and you can aim and shoot in all 3. Doing that low-level Grineer interception simply by doing nothing but afterburner strafing runs in 6DOF on that open map is just incredible fun.

I would say that, since submersible missions use the old system, I'd argue that Corpus ship "corridor runs" should do the same, but the open space maps = man, I'm loving it.

I seem to be in the minority, though :(

Only thing I would get pissed about, is if they took away the Grattler's piercing ability. Took me ages to farm the oxium for that thing, and it's an absolute blast to play because it ignores the shielded grineer's units shields. So yeah, afterburner non-stop strafing runs with Grattler on low-level grineer missions, haven't lived until you did those :D

  17. Reporting back, just upgraded my drivers to last ones available for GTX 860M chip on Win10 64bit, which is version 368.39, and PhysX option is not only enabled, it actually makes a difference in the game! I'm seeing beautiful effects on Acid Shells Sobek, Capture targets and Gunners' Slam attacks, as well various other particles which were there previously but now they collide and react to the world around them.

    FINALLY.

  18. 16 hours ago, TRSS said:

Check if you have PhysX installed at all and which version it is. Should be something like 9.16.XXXX

    Bonkers, I just checked, I'm on 9.11.x

I was afraid to upgrade my nVidia drivers from 355.98 ever since I experienced severe driver crashes on my laptop leading me to believe my GPU chip is faulty (which it is not, it's perfectly fine). Though, the new drivers are supposed to be OK... so I dunno. Biting the bullet, here goes nothing.

Baal on Europa is not bad. Just by defending first console you can get 100+ oxium without boosters. And if you wait (don't do second console, after you do second one Oxium Drones stop spawning) enemies will keep coming along with Oxium drones. Right after you do first terminal it will take a while before enemies start spawning again, but after that you can just sit and farm oxium, yesterday I farmed 500+ oxium that way on a single run. You can also just do MD as usual and keep repeating it

I didn't know you can wait around and Oxium drones start spawning again after 1st console. I was always disappointed when they just stopped spawning. I'm gonna try that, thanks a lot for the advice!

Just in time too, Iztal parts cost like 3.7k Ox just to research their blueprints... Wish I did those before :(

I leveled all my frames and weapons with all their potatoes and formas without stepping into Draco even once. And no, I don't have 16 hours a day to play the game. There are so many much more important issues with this new update. It's amazing that people find the Draco nerf the most upsetting.

Same here, I think I only ever played Draco round maybe 5 times, 1 out of which I normally played to complete the node, and another where my connection dropped on me. So that's totalling 3 rounds of watching somebody hit "2" for 5 minutes and calling all my weapons suddenly "mastered".

Now people actually have to go and play the game to level up their stuff, which they find insulting for some reason. If you don't want to play for yourself to progress the game, may I kindly suggest not launching the game in the first place, instead of watching a funny javelin-stab animation for a while?

I'm all for "to each his own", you know, if people don't want to play the game but still have all their stuff "mastered", you know let them have it, but if suddenly something like that is removed from the game (for a good reason), it's not very self-concious to complain about it like it was the worst thing that happened on this side of World War 2.

  21. 2 hours ago, Lethalness said:

Not familiar of cerberus but if I may ask... dint corpus interceps spawned tons of oxium drones? are there any left on the solar map?

Yeah, Cerberus was (and still is AFAIK) lvl37 I believe Corpus Interception. With a full squad of 4 players who know how to take Oxium drones down, you could reliably accumulate around 500-600 Oxium per only two messages intercepted (before things get too hectic, so just extract and repeat). Now it's not a problem to find an interception mission, it's that they reduced the spawn rates of anything that cannot actually capture a point in Interception.

  22. I'm posting this because I've only just figured out what's wrong, so I can put it in words.

My issue with market currently (aside from the glaringly obvious horrible blueprint stuff, not getting into that), is the completely unlogical item grouping according to their section.

    Two parts to the problem,

    1) Illogical placement of items within group, or in other words, plainly wrong item places. I just went to buy a pack of DNA stabilizers for my Kubrow. I said "Ok let's try doing this without search, see how I find the new system". First place I looked was Home, Companions, and there I saw "Kubrow and Kavat Accessories" tab. Guess what, it ain't there. Which brings me to the other part of the problem

    2) Glaring design oversight of the home menu. Calling it home, and rolling it out like a list of sections, each with their own subsections, dictates by simple logic (and experience in using anything on the internet), that the sub-sections are simply refined subsets of items from it's master section.

Or to put it in an example, the "Companions" tab should contain everything it's sub-category "Kubrow accessories" does, and some more items not put into respective subcategories. In other words, the "subcategories" aren't actually subcategories at all. The structure of the market menu is not:

    • Home
      • Companions
        • Kubrow and Kavat Accessories
        • Sentinel Accessories

    What it actually is:

    • Home
      • Companions
      • Kubrow and Kavat Accessories
      • Sentinel Accessories

But the design doesn't communicate that.

On the upside, I do love the pure aesthetics of it, the visual design. The background 3D render of a random object from current viewed set, with "glass" blurry panels of items in front is very nice. It's just the logical composition that I have a problem with.

Man I really hope this reaches the devs... :/
