People can be less vulnerable to predatory practices by being aware of them - when one can see things for what they are, one can make a more informed decision. Both TehChubbyDugan and I seem aware of it and as such I'd argue we are far less vulnerable to these practices. What I find interesting is how players have been conditioned to not want to see things for what they are - those are the people who are more vulnerable to these practices.

The problem I have with predatory practices being used more, is less about DE seeming friendlier in the past and more about how them making use of these practices to a greater extent appears to affect the game's enjoyment and quality: The OP already discussed the negative impact of predatory practices on the enjoyment of the game. In terms of content quality, go back 5 - 6 years and DE appeared to be putting in a lot more effort with regards to their content releases, as they relied more on innovation and the quality of their content to drive retention and engagement: New open worlds and everything that entails, new events, story-driven Nightwave etc. These days they appear to rely more and more on predatory practices to drive engagement and retention, which means more regurgitated, often reskinned content paired with lower standards in quality, whilst innovation and new experiences takes a backseat. DE's increased reliance on psychological tricks to drive retention and engagement over reliance of quality content has resulted in the degradation of the game's growth, quality and enjoyment.

Exactly - this nicely sums up what I was trying to say earlier in the thread. It doesn't matter if the thing I work towards is a cosmetic, weapon, frame etc., for me, it has been the ability to grind towards it at my own pace. The advent of increasing amounts of content that dictates when I can play it in order to achieve my goals means I've stopped playing as the fun element is decreased. Warframe began to feel like a chore. Before I stopped there was one Sunday evening when I realised I hadn't done Khal's mission, hadn't finished the Archon hunt, hadn't progressed enough in the Circuit and ground out enough Steel Essence to get Teshin's weekly offering. So I just switched it off. If you're not having fun playing a video game why play it at all?

Then there's the weekly timed content.  Archons, Break Narmer, Circuit, and NW off the top of my head.  Do the math.  Think about how many hours of pre-scheduled playtime that is every single week.  Then you factor in timed content that isn't weekly.  From the fact that like 3/4 of the primes in the game are vaulted and that ratio is only getting worse, to shorter timescales like Kuvallero or Eidolons.  This isn't even close to a full list of all the time-sensitive grinds in the game.

Thank you for this - you've manged to eloquently put into words how I've come to feel about the game. I stopped playing shortly after Tennocon after eight (I think?) years of almost daily playing. One of the great strengths, for me, of Warframe was the ability to play and progress at my own pace, picking and chosing what I felt like aiming for at any particular time.

Yes, I know Baro will come round again, incarnons will cycle etc. but the balance has changed. Before I felt in control of what I did for fun; now there's content that tells me I have to wait until the game lets me play it again. And that style of content seems to be increasing as a portion of the game.

People can call it FOMO or whatever, but, for me, the fun has been reduced by the removal of agency on my part.

  3. I tried all sorts of frames with limited success until I just relied on the Xoris detonations as you can pick off groups of (fairly) distant specters before they get too close.

Something I find helpful is to take a second on spawning in to check the locations of the three captives as exploding the Xoris (when it has three orange 'blobs' on the reticule) will give you more time. Picking up the little pyramids isn't so useful - I've spent more time tryng to grab one than is worth it before!

    Good luck.

Looks nice, but honestly I want news about the future of Warframe and not a demo for another game - especially at the center of the event....

Absolutely. It seemed disrespectful, far too long.

I think that spending 30+ minutes of the show on this is indulgent. I wanted Warframe stuff. I'll care about Soulframe when it's closer to open beta in like ... three years.

Yes. And having the "old guard" coming back and muscling in seems somehow a grab for an audience.

Im shocked that console players were able to do that. And Im shocked again that instead of doing this for PC as well, they went the other way so that nobody can do it.

I must admit I didn't get that impression - it seemed (to me anyway) that this was an new type of coupon for consoles to mitigate the feeling that they didn't get any form of discount on plat.

  6. Interesting insight, thanks OP.

I suppose it highlights the difference between an additive bonus and a divisive one. The balance could be brought about by greater bonus percentages. E.g. a 100% bonus would equate to a 50% discount on PC, hence never achieving the 75% PC discount levels until (if my back of an envelope calculations are not faulty) a bonus of 330% is reached.

It's interesting to see how DE are beginning to address the no doubt difficult issue of cross platform saving and I expect we'll get more changes in the future (perhaps around the different ways Tennogen works).

I also note there was no mention of trading in the original explanatory post so we'll have to wait and see how that pans out.

    I see.

Tho it is still strange, because I've bought the part of Prime Access which contained extractor Prime a long time ago. And I have 3 slots only.

I seem to be in the same boat - I have Distilling Prime and Titan Prime (had them for years) which came from Prime Access a long time ago (Ember and Rhino accessories I think...mind you it's a long time ago and my memory isn't what it used to be!)

I, too, only have three deployable slots.

EDIT: I think the reason is that these purchases both came from the Prime Vault, not the initial release. It seems that (according to the wiki) these don't count for the extra slot - despite costing the (same?) amount of real money.

  8. I'm not sure if I'm missing something but is there any reason to farm this/play it more than once? I got the impression it was a one-off "blast from the past" and then on to the Prelate lad.

Also there seems to be little or no downside to just jumping off platforms as you simply pop up somewhere else. I found jumping straight at Nihil when he was vulnerable and smashing him one in the face without caring where I landed was really quite enjoyable :-)

  9. Is there more to having an enemy scanned into the codex that is needed to spawn them in the simulacrum? I was wanting to try out some builds against demolishers and saw I didn't have demolisher bailiff. So off I went, scanned a bunch on Sedna, checked codex - yes, he's in there, but still not an option in simulacrum. Not even a "Not enough scans" box. Just Bailiff, Eximus Bailiff and Kuva Bailiff.

What am I missing? Any help?

Apologies for Warframe tag - forum demands a tag but only offers a handful of (irrelevant) options.

     - DE has come up with a brilliant technical solution where dispos for weapons with an Incarnon Adapter installed can be lower than the original weapon's dispo?

That would be interesting ;-) I wonder (if they went this route) how they would do it - does the dispo change when you put the incarnon on? Does it change when you activate it? And presumably repeat for each variant. Might lead to some interesting calculations; strun could have eight different dispos!

Sorry, just off daydreaming - as you were....

  11. I've posted this in the bug section of the forums but I've not seen much (if any) confirmation from other players - I wanted to ask here to see if it's a general problem or if it's something rare (or there's a workaround)

The problem is that the Orowyrm gets stuck in the hand of the giant statue in the sky just after it spawns. This only happens for me in the Anger Spiral. I've been playing the Duviri Experience in normal mode when this happens. All the other moods work as expected.

Once stuck it seems impossible to latch onto the wyrm with the orvius as none of the side disks light up. All I seem to be able to do is fly around it getting shot by wyrmlings. Is this just me? I find it hard to believe that there's a bug that prevents completing a spiral and it hasn't attracted any attention on here.

So I thought I'd ask if anyone else has encountered this. I'm starting to think Anger is jinxed just for me!

  12. Thank you folks - I'll keep practicing :-)

Oversteer is a big problem I find and I haven't been holding jump to take off (on XBox the tutorial has you holding the left bumber whilst jumping - a hold sounds easier)

As side objectives I'd probably have fun doing them now and again; it's when they stall my spiral progress that it gets a bit frustrating

  13. Does anyone have tips for success when kaithe racing comes up as a step in the spiral? I’m on Xbox and the thing steers like cow when it’s in the air - worse when sprinting.

At the moment it’s usually a block to progression for me (solo player)

How are people getting through it? It feels like the “defend the area” bounty on The Plains level of unpredictable outcomes!

    TIA

It's an inconsistency with how missions work; if you don't like the current week's Archon Hunt, you can just wait for it to rotate and do that one instead. Same for Sorties. Can you imagine being served the same Sortie every single day until you did it?

For some reason, Kahl missions do not operate this way

My apologies! When I reread my message there's a missing not....

    Should say:

I don't see the logic of allowing someone to NOT skip one they don't like.

I am basically in total agreement with you
