I think that would suck, since aiming the cannon is already such a pain, and the Crewship could easily be facing the wrong direction for you to make use of that.

That's only an issue if your pilot refuses to help line up a shot. Even if running solo you can shoot out the crewship's thrusters to set up a rear hit.

I happen to think that the artillery cannon should guaranteed one-shot a crewship no matter what.

I think instead of guaranteeing a one-shot, the cannon should receive x1, x2, and x4 multipliers based on hitting the front, sides and rear respectively for more immersive combat.

Have you experienced the tactical ability Fire Suppression, and would you say it's useful? Is there a version for other repairs, or no?

Fire Suppression, despite the name, also covers electrical damage. I think it can be useful, but all types of damage are easy to repair and you'll want to save your avionics capacity for passive bonuses or battle avionics.

  4. Notes and opinions:

    (1) Each remote repair costs double the amount of Revolite than using the Omni.
I'm headlining this because nothing in the game tells me about the increased costs, and after such heavy investment it should be an all around upgrade over using the Omni.

    (2) Only a single remote repair can be conducted at a time and other damage cannot be queued up for repair.
I think DE should reconsider this into a system that lets the players queue repair jobs if we can remotely repair only one thing at a time.

    (3) It is possible to repair from outside the ship using Tactical 5 and switching the camera to someone inside.
I like the synergy with the Tactical tree and would like to see more creative synergies with other Intrinsics.

    (4) I can remote repair even when occupying the pilot, gunner or artillery seat.
I like this feature a lot. I'm able to maintain damage output without worrying about getting in and out of my seat to perform repairs.

    (5) On other player's ships, frequent bugs prevent remote repair jobs from finishing. In 7 out of 11 public games I eventually had to use the Omni tool to perform repairs.
This bug renders remote repairing unreliable and useless.

    (6) In 11 public games so far, remote repair jobs causes a bug that breaks my ability to teleport around the ship per Tactical 3. The unstuck command and reviving do not fix this bug.
    Same as #5.

    (7) Electrical, fire, and minor breach damage takes five seconds to complete, while major breach damage takes ten seconds.
I'm overall okay with this, but it still bothers me that I cannot queue up repairs on other damage.

    (8) This ability spawns Itzal 4 drones on the damage site to show that repairs are in progress.
I'm okay with this as well, but would rather see something that makes the remote repair site a lot more obvious to the players.

that person isnt engaging in the team which puts more work on the other players. did you see op point count? 180 means he had to do that players running to turn in the points. ive said all i need to say. i side with the op on this.

Sorry to break this to you, but one carrier (usually Rhino) gathering all the points is standard, which gives said carrier better control over point turn-ins.

That Umbra was contributing kills, just as a non-carrier should be doing, for the benefit of the carrier.

Stated another way, I'd rather have an Umbra on my team racking up kills than any number of random pugs I've come across who did not bring the right gear to the Index.

  6. So guilty confession here. I am one of those who brings Excal Umbra into Index for easy money.

People think he is glassy and a hassle to use. This is generally true, but you can support him with healing/shielding from Vazarin or invis/DR from Unairu (my personal pick is Unairu). He can easily recover if you also pack Magus Nourish. Even with support he is still very glassy and will shut down in a few hits, but he's very easily reset if that happens.

Does he cheese the Index? Absolutely, just by following these simple rules: (1) unequip melee, (2) equip hitscan slashmeme primary, and (3) find an open spot to camp and support him with your void mode bonuses. Every time you see this, it means Umbra scored a kill:

     pzoojCl.jpg

I've fielded Umbra in ~40 successful High Index runs and one John Prodman marathon. His scaling is ludicrous and the only "difficult" task is managing his health. In those runs, he's generally been well received. Umbra quickly scores kills, the carrier fetches the points, and everyone is happy for an efficient and profitable run. I haven't received any complaints about Umbra at least until tonight when a couple neanderthals decide to throw a run exclusively because they thought I was AFK:

(Blocked and reported btw, this is not how you treat anyone)

I won't be surprised if DE considers this an issue, but I think there's merit to keeping Umbra the way he is now. There's this unfounded myth that Umbra promotes an AFK-to-win playstyle when in fact he needs lots of external support to do his job like any glass cannon needs.

  7. Just to confirm and clarify OP's observations, there is a very strange interaction where half of the bolts will bounce off while the other half will explode on first contact with the shield.

Edit 1: I wouldn't dismiss the Phahd Scaffold. Its base damage is lower than the Shraksun, however the critical chance and damage are significantly higher make it a serious candidate to replace the x23 meta with x43 going forward. I haven't experimented with x43 yet, but reddit is reporting significantly faster tridolon times.

You quoted me but the reply didn't really add any further detail to the op from my comment.

I was saying that if people who own the arcane helmets could turn them into a arcane, only the people who own them could do it and would be a bit unfair to people who can't obtain them anymore. If they did implement them again I'd be fine with it. I would love to have them as helmets.

How would transforming helmet arcanes into actual arcanes be any more "unfair" than owning discontinued helmet arcanes in the first place?

I say why the heck not. OP is merely suggesting what is ultimately a QoL change since equipping a helmet arcane takes one actual arcane slot anyway. I'm all for this idea (just be sure to preserve the warframe-specific requirements).

  9. Stats are updated with Wukong maintaining its comfortable lead, followed by Titania and Ember.

I also want to make a very late disclaimer that this thread and poll was not intended to make a statement or knock on the upcoming Saryn rework being Pablo's solo project (personal note, I'm REALLY looking forward to main Saryn again with those ideas). Even though I did reference to the "Why Saryn?" thread, it was the tipping point for me after reading earlier posts about Wukong's nuke build getting patched, calls to nerf Octavia, hopes that DE will continue buffing Khora, the melodramatic claims that Ember was ruined and more. From there, I wanted to poll what the community feels is important for DE to rework going forward.

  10. After reading through the Why Saryn? thread, I became interested in the community's opinions on which warframes should get rework priority and why. Please take a minute to submit your responses on this poll:

    Warframe Rework Priority Opinion Poll

After submitting your poll, please also comment on how you reached your choices. Thank you!

Edit 3: And a good evening all. We're now up to 54 responses with these updated stats:

I can't help but feel sorry for ppl who want to take out all their toys to play. The Devs don't provide content to do so. There's always that meta of a handful of frames and weapons ppl absolutly have to bring to not be considered useless. Brought quite a bit of toxicity into the game tbh.

It's less about taking out toys to play with and more like understanding that certain tools are better than others for a specific job. In this case, OP got called out precisely for not bringing a more effective and useful warframe to the tridolon hunt. Say what you will about the dryness that is meta, but each of those warframes addresses a specific issue in a hunt. Harrow/Oberon nullifies magnetic screams, Trinity/Oberon heals and boosts mitigation to lures and the squad, and Chroma/Rhino/Volt boost DPS. Besides healing, nothing in Khora's kit can effectively replace any of the warframes or address any of the issues mentioned earlier.

There is also the wrinkle that OP got called out in a public matchmaking. Everyone accepts the risk of getting any kind of player under the sun. The problem here is OP has to ask other people for an explanation about why Khora is not a good choice for this one specific task. This also signals that OP did not spend a reasonable amount of time to get familiar with Khora's kit and think about how Khora does not add much to her squad in tridolon hunts.

  12. Chect, it's clear that you and all of the replies here love this game in different ways. One thing I'm not seeing much of is finding a middle ground in enemy behavior and enemy types to preserve the status quo and address your concerns with ability spamming.

For example, for frames that can go invisible, why not enhance the enemy AI to fire blindly in the direction of the player's last known position and weapons use? This could be flexed depending on whether the weapon used is loud or silent to determine their triangulation speed. Also, why not create a limited special unit with infrared vision to spot invisible warframes? These two ideas can add a layer of complexity and fun factor to using invisibility.

For radial blind, enemy behavior could be changed from a stun to significant accuracy penalty and blind fire. Also certain enemy types like corpus robots could have reduced blind effectiveness.

As for chain CC's, all enemies can have a stacking resistance to repeated ability spams; let's say plus 25% less duration for each repeated victim.

The perspective I'm adopting is to not dilute our powers, but rather giving the enemy a wider range of tools to adapt to players. I think this would help keep a lot of us happy with our powers and add additional enemy counters to keep us on our feet.

Ok...please tell me how many people are going to hop onto the test servers when for the duration of the test none of what they do on the test server can be brought back to the main server?
Essentially you would have to convince a large amount of people to play on a pre-release update...for absolutely nothing with no way to bring it back to the normal server until its released, where they can't even play with the majority of their friends or do anything with the larger part of the player base.

Please tell me why players would willingly do this and how many players would actually do it.
Because unless you can get tons of players willing to do this, its just not worth it for DE to even think of setting up.  Lot of time and effort to do it, and unless a truely massive number of players agree to it then they won't really get tested enough to find any bugs, meaning that all that time and effort gained nothing for DE.

The thing about a game like WF is that unless you have a large amount of people testing it, good luck finding most of the errors.  And good luck convincing a large enough amount of players "Hey, play this pre-release version where you can't bring the progress back, play with your friends, or do much of anything with the general playerbase till its over!"

Public betas with no benefit to live accounts are not unprecedented. Blizzard's public test realms are good examples of reaching out to the vast player base to gain feedback for developing more polished live releases. Why would these player testers do such a thing? It's probably their loyalty and love for the game and to feel like their contributing positively to the development process.

Blizzard may have a larger player base to draw more testers, but just a few players willing to participate in beta servers here could exponentially expand DE's ability to deliver higher quality and polished live releases. In other words, DE is not taking advantage of the resources to be gained from a player like myself who is more than happy to beta test and provide detailed feedback.

The forums here constantly joke that we all are the beta testers, that we should give DE some time to hammer out the bugs and be forgiving of release day woes. I take the opposite perspective. DE's refusal to have a system for public beta, spend one month after close of beta to address issues based on beta feedback, and then release the live version makes me less forgiving of a bug-riddled patch and more sympathetic to all of the salty feedback threads.
