  1. LOS as a whole needs the overhaul that Dante has kicked off. I'm in full support of this. I don't think kicking sand in the face of Dante over it was needed, though. I've been around long enough to have gotten tired of DE slapping very poorly done band-aids on things, calling it good, and then never admitting they were wrong on the back end of what was a scramble to take a huge mistake and make it less so, while never actually solving the base issue. My issue is that the core problems with LOS aren't based in the LOS system. It's base game like matchmaking, map collision, and ping being locked to all sorts of jank things like Status tick rate, damage levels, and the ability for doors and portals to spawn/work in general. They've done this with everything from accuracy, movement, overguard, and wide reaching status nerfs. Spin-2-win was broken and hurt as a playstyle, but then they straight murdered the stat. Now it's riven bloat with no reason. Overguard killed CC as a concept straight up, and they keep making it worse by making less and less interact with it. Void Sling is 100% worse in every way to void dash and Meghan literally said "We know, it's here to stay" and refused to ever address it further. Accuracy is either 100% useless, or you can't hit any enemies at all. Nothing in between. It's hilarious. I tried a -acc riven on Kuva Chakkur and I couldn't hit a mob I was standing directly in front of and touching. All of these things got touched by DE, then "fixed" and ignored. Ping issues and processing issues were slapped into everyone's face with crossplay and now we're stuck with infinitely longer load times, janky doors that got worse, and portals that never open. Not to mention that FPS counters somehow interact with bullet collision and can drop your DPS from well over 11m to 1m just based on the host having capped 30fps versus 60, or more. DE needs a whole scale AI overhaul, mission design pass, movement addressing, an entire team dedicated to bug fixing, and matchmaking and netcode that isn't straight out of the early 00's. They don't need new content, they need an overhaul. The problem is that they're only interested in getting us to shut up long enough for them to dangle the proverbial keys in front of our face as if we don't notice the house is on fire. It's not working and the community is pissed. We want fixes, not excuses, not band-aids, and not bad communication. I love what DE does well. I love the idea of ninjas in space and the fluid movement. I'm tired of them chasing a forma sink in DAE and Duviri Circuit instead of actually fixing things we need. I'm tired of knee jerk nerfs because they see one statistical outlier in a PVE game and lose their mind. I'm tired of them being entrenched in the idea that the majority of players play normal starchart, which isn't true... At all. They claim to care about their playerbase, then don't address what the base actually needs. Or even ask us to tell them what we want or need. Pablo alternates between genius and the laziest human alive. Reb doesn't know how damage actually even works in the game. Meghan spends most of her time dealing with strange thirsty dudes and ignoring real issues for random memes, and about the only people who have their stuff together for the most part is sound design and even that has bugs tied to netcode. I'm tired of the enS#&$tification that has happened since Tencent came to town. I'm tired of them going from a super community focused group to a squad of people who sweep issues under the rug and then hand us the opposite of what we ask for. We're not stupid. It's how we break their game and get damage caps and do three day runs of endurance, and delete your highest level enemies. It's how we find out insane little interactions and you, most of the time, justifiably nerf them because the game simply melts if you don't. Emergent gameplay is the entire business model that keeps F2P games alive. They need to stop throttling our fun, and instead make the base game better able to handle our shenanigans.
  2. There is no skill issue when Dante is locked to a roughly 30 degree cone in front of him that's blocked by jars, benches, and turning slightly to the left or right. This also gets worse when you are not the host. Lag changes LOS interactions HEAVILY. The tick rate of checks with the host is atrocious and can mean that you miss 40-50% of your targets who are in clear LOS while not moving if you are running 150+ ping. Hard capping your ping limit is a must to play LOS frames. There's also the fact that LOS checks vertical instances in the tile chunk you are in, not what's in front of you. A ramp behind you drops your hit rate on unobstructed mobs by roughly 20%. The game is somehow checking things that aren't from the ability point of origin and using that to determine LOS success. Still. Slight elevation changes shouldn't make a miss happen. Dante's view cone is apparently more narrow than that of a visible doorway, but since LOS doesn't make sense, you will regularly proc tragedy through a doorway on a mob that never entered the room. Not the rest of the group, just one or two dudes. Out of nowhere. There are Czech game developer studios from the early 2000s who just went "Hot damn at least we aren't Digital Extremes programming Line of Sight." and they are correct. This is jank that is unmitigated in its failed state. *edit: spelling and punctuation are hard.
  3. CC was about bringing choice to the table. Damage is a choice you make before a mission. CC is choosing things and timings within the mission. "Does it benefit me to kill these things now, or should I control them and limit the enemy numbers on the map?" That sort of thing. CC worked wonders on the terrible mission modes like defense and intercept. The death of CC, because that's what Overguard is, means the death of roughly 40% of frames unique kit flavors. DE just killed that. Because Pablo ran out of ideas and his team was too lazy to ask the community. They don't even know the math of their own game and are consistently stunned when we do things using their math. Look at Archon one shots. Instead, they just went "lol hp bar that interacts only with damage" and then said #*!% it, never tested it, and threw it at us. Then, when we complained, they called us wrong and dumb and tripled down. Hell, they still do it with frames. Gyre was strong? Nerf that S#&$ HARD. Styanax was strong? Gut him. A year plus later? Augments to give Gyre back her nerfed ability, and give Styanax Overguard so people will use him despite being the LOUDEST THING ALIVE. Seriously, let me mute his ass please. I beg of you DE. Especially now that Dante is D- until Pablo slinks into chat with an augment to admit he was dumb. This game has NOT gotten more fun in the last year. It's become narrower and narrower on the playstyle front. Does your damage drop below 110KPM? You aren't going to be ok. Meme guns had meme interactions? Can't have that lasting can we. Overguard is toxic because it forces every interaction in the game to prioritize it over everything else in the game. Thrax dropping into this game is single-handedly the source of multiple separate skill and frame interaction nerfs in the first two months of Duviri alone. Did they ever address the core of the problem? No. Thrax mobs are still absolutely the worst mob ever released. Bar none. DE's still never MENTIONED the fact that they just float, dead, still damaging defense targets to this day. I want variety and emergent gameplay. Making builds and testing stuff is fun. Things like slash taxi on Voruuna or figuring out Mirage's clones carried influence procs on guns were cool. Mirage did need that nerf, blowing up your own game is a valid reason to nerf something. 100%. Same with Arca Titron, cascade numerical overflow is bad juju for game code. I'm still waiting on DE to nerf the third wave Incarnon guns interacting with Frost's crit augment. Not because it's broken, but because it's unique and DE is not having that in the last couple of years. At all. Cool gun mechanic makes it super strong? No. Bad you. Clunk AF frame setup gives you wild damage? Bad! It's a PVE game. Why can't I do stupid damage if I build for it? Why can't I keep an entire map of mobs fighting each other if I build for it? The MR2 dude learning how to run through a map complaining about not being able to kill stuff isn't indicative of a balance issue, it's one of matchmaking and DE having the single-handedly worst new player experience outside of actually playing Anthem, which constitutes as a form of self harm to authorities. DE has always had the content island copy the game of the month mentality. We don't play it for Failjack, or Tridolons or anything that they tack on the back side. Sure there are devoted Hunters out there, but that's a VERY niche populous, and it's still ridiculously time gated and so visually cluttered. Plus it was made SO much worse with void sling. People go to these things and do them because they are forced there to get a frame, or a resource, or unlock a reward or mission type. Not because you want to be there. The core game holds the veterans, not the jankapaloosa that is their content corpses still stapled to the main game. Yes, there are people who will swear that those content bloat points are their favorite, but humanity is wild. We have people who run marathons until their toenails fall off and think that's fun. Extreme outliers exist. DE's claim to fame was movement. Warframe started clunky, gross, and in a market with essentially no competition. They had a listen to the community mindset back then, because they had to. They had no QA team. They made Parkour 2.0 roughly the same time that some numbnuts in a suit noticed that a multiplayer horde shooter with customization elements was actually fun, and the market flooded. That saved them. Destiny would have murdered them outright if Bungie wasn't objectively bad at making decisions relating to long term game health, and every other competitor since has found more success doing what warframe doesn't. I.E. Making guns and killing things feel fun and unique. What DE does best is make you feel like a ninja. Running, jumping, rolling and moving. Or they did. Now they make you feel like a call of duty chud running around getting stuck on garbage because their map team never checked with an actual play test to see if we wanted 65 bits of trash between us and moving. If I wanted to feel like I was back in gym class getting winded and hard landing short ass jumps, I'd go play a modern FPS. Pro-tip: We don't want to feel like that. They still don't have a QA team. Or if they do, it's either completely ignored or staffed by people who shouldn't be allowed on a computer. Make missions able to be moved through. Stop making huge ass maps with clutter all around them for no reason. Also, while you are at it, get rid of Jupiter and Corpus ship defense and intercept tiles. And fire that room designer. I'm amazed they can breathe without a reminder alarm each time they need to inhale. Your AI can't handle a door, how the hell is it supposed to reasonably handle ramps and vertical map interactions? DE is already deep in the Tencent "Make money now and #*!% the future" mindset. Soulframe is the perfect example of that. No one needs another Souls like game, and yet here we go. Warframe's movement and feel innovated. Once. Now they copy and tack on game modes and movement like K-drive, god I hate you S#&$ty Tony Hawk wannabe, instead of actually looking at how to improve the core mechanics. Overguard could have been avoided with an AI overhaul. Would it have taken more investment of time? Yes. But they own a building in one of the most expensive cities in Canada. They can afford it. I mean, they put on a convention and I work in that industry, I know how expensive that S#&$ is. One con can pay for an entire TEAM to fix S#&$. Instead, they promise stuff they never deliver at every Tennocon, and we are stuck with AI designed in the early 2000s and a netcode peer to peer system that can justifiably be considered needing to be put down due to it being cruelty to keep it living. Eximus getting deadly was amazing, but them doing so at the cost of every form of playstyle outside of "Lol damage go brr" or "I play Revenant and am only a platform from which to use a gun" was factually bad. Them adding OG to more and more frames means they've gone too deep into the sunk cost fallacy and will never give it up. Let's see if Pablo's team can sit down, throw the idiot who suggested OG out on the street, and creatively make CC work in this game again. I doubt it. I really do. After all, they did nerf Dante for the sole reason that two MR3 Inaros players whined about energy regen when Inaros doesn't use energy. Oh and the one chroma player complained too. I'm in a clan with him, love the dude but Chroma shares D tier with Dante now. Then they nerfed something that had nothing to do with why the MR3 Inaros players were complaining. The direction this company has gone has trended less and less of being community focused and more and more towards greedy triple A #*!% the player base. It started hardcore with the Guides of the Lotus being swept aside and from then on, it's been less about what we want and more about their quartly profit calculators. I get that Digital Extremes is a business. I support them making money. I'm just tired of the community standing up and saying "Stop. We want this." and them saying "#*!% you, you'll get nothing and like it." Void sling, Dante, Overguard, their community guidelines not being posted anywhere, the fact that you can get straight up banned for doing a solo mission if you stand still for too long on endurance runs. DE punishes creativity and a call for things that feel good and make the game fun and interesting. Rebecca Ford, you're the head of this game. Stop it. Your vision of the game should be thousands of players having fun and tinkering. Thousands of people finding their favorite way to go out and be ninjas in space. The end. That's what a game designer is. You build a game, hand it off like setting a kid free into the wide open world, and you shepherd it along to ensure it's not going to die, but let the world shape it, grow it, and make it better. Warframe is 11 years old. It's jank as sin. It's frankly in need of a complete overhaul more than we need Soulframe, and we old school players love it like our idiot younger sibling. Stop hurting us because your pride can't let you admit you #*!%ed up. Get teams on getting Overguard to work with CC in a way that makes that entire game mode fun and functional. Fire your tile layout people who keep making vast tile scapes your AI can't navigate. Warframe isn't a treasure hunt game. Why do you keep making us go find garbage off in corners? Why did your corpus tilesets make everything worse? We don't need a new content island every three months. We need fixes, we need a combat targetting system that doesn't fail to target things because the back of the source of damage was somehow in the way. We don't need tick rate tied to FPS rates of a host. I mean to that end we don't need a system that lets a Switch or a mobile phone HOST anything! Hash out and fix long standing core issues more than glut us with stuff we don't need. You held off Railjack for six years and it still isn't in a state worth playing after three plus years being live. Stop slapping flavor of the month to the good bits and make the good bits so much better. Please.
