I've got the same challenge but for companion's weapon and it did the same as you op.

I was doing the sortie, the 1st mission on Umbriel with Melee Only. I completed the first round and then on the second, i had no alert on ennemy capturing the A or B or C even D point. The grinneer did spawn on point B, i saw them only at the end but there were non agressive toward me. I don't know what happened. It was boring but "tant pis".
