I am one of those who sold a lot of stuff, you seem to have thought it out pretty well?

With fully unlocked selections though intrinsics, there are always 3 owned Warframes out of 5 choices when you start a new run. I've checked numerous times now and this does not seem to vary.

Weapons will vary more, and even if you own nothing but "good stuff" in categories like pistols for example, the game can give you all unowned pistols because your owned choices all landed in other categories.

TL;DR, Warframe selection is more reliable than weapon selection, although the effects of trimming your weapon selection are still pretty noticeable.

I personally feel really comfortable doing this sell off because I would like to underscore that I did not sell things with *just doing the circuit* in mind.

For example, I kept Ivara, Gyre and a few others knowing they might still show up but I really like Ivara and Gyre in other game modes. I didn't get rid of everything I liked just to complete Circuit. The randomizer is actually kind of working for me now because it might not give me my "comfy" picks but it's still giving me things I think are fun, so I'm branching out into frames I like but don't usually spend a ton of time with.

I got rid of Atlas, Mesa, Hildryn, Saryn, and around 12 others because of a simple truth:

I just haven't ever liked playing them. I think they're boring, kludgey, overpowered or whatever depending on which frame it is. If they reverted how the RNG worked tomorrow and this didn't benefit me anymore, I actually wouldn't be upset about their loss either way.

I agree that if there's something you like but don't want to use in the circuit then you shouldn't sell it.

    Personally, I feel like getting rid of things that I'm confident I won't use one way or another isn't really a risk. It's just that before, I didn't really have any motivation to go "clear out the trash" until now, so it's just an incentive to do some spring cleaning ^^;

That seems like a very measured approach, and leaves you with minimal risk. I'm definitely due for some spring cleaning myself 😄 I'm glad you made choices based on your overall enjoyment and not one specific game mode.

  2. This topic is about the Duviri randomizer specifically in regards to the Steel Path Circuit and improving the odds of getting gear that you enjoy. If you love the randomizer for SPC, that's great, enjoy! This discussion is not about whether you like or dislike the randomizer, it's about the efficacy vs risk of a specific method some players have resorted to in order to improve their enjoyment of the game mode.

The Question: For someone who does not enjoy the weighted randomization for Steel Path, is it worthwhile to sell the excess gear that I've kept for years because I enjoy using them for non-steel-path gameplay in order to reduce my pool of owned gear, thereby increasing the odds that I'll get something moderately Steel Path viable until the decrees kick in?

The Theory: DE has stated that the Duviri randomizer is guaranteed to give you at least one piece of gear that you do not own (per slot?). Beyond that, however, the randomizer seems to be weighted towards giving you several options that you do not own. It also seems that you will get at least one piece of gear in each slot that you do own. So, theoretically, if you narrow either of these categories (owned or unowned) significantly enough, you can effectively guarantee yourself to get one of a handful of weapons and Warframes in that pool. This means, if your goal is to narrow the options to something that performs better in Steel Path, you would want to narrow your pool of owned gear by selling off anything you don't want to use in Steel Path, because owned gear will allow you to use your forma and mod investments, whereas narrowing your unowned pool for the same purpose would restrict you to using default mod loadouts for that gear. Several players have already sold off large portions of their arsenal and succeeded at improving their loadout options by doing so.

The Risk: Duviri is still a very new update. DE has so far only made significant changes in the form of bug fixes, and has not yet made major changes based on feedback. If you sell off the majority of your arsenal in order to narrow the pool of owned gear and guarantee yourself better loadout options, you run the risk of future changes to the RNG system actually putting you at a disadvantage, while also being guaranteed to have limited your options for content outside of the Duviri update.

An Example: There are several weapons and Warframes that I've kept for a long time because I enjoy them or am nostalgic, but prefer not to use them in Steel Path due to their stats or mechanics making them underperformers and a general burden in Steel Path. To name more than a few: Banshee, Styanax, Hydroid, Nyx, Phage, Quanta, Grakata, Sonicor, Castanas, Hirudo, Lecta, Dark Dagger, and Fang. I've kept all of these in one variant or another because I have fond memories of them, and choose to use them in normal star chart content even if they aren't the most efficient. While most of them can be made half-decent for steel path with significant enough investment, I don't want to use them in normal Steel Path and don't see that as a worthwhile investment for a single game mode. So, to implement the above methodology, I would have to sell these items to improve my chances of getting things I actually do want to use in Steel Path Circuit - with the risk above of making that effort futile still very much present.

My Answer (Opinion): No, it is not worth it. I do not believe that enjoyment of the greater game should be sacrificed in order to improve your odds in one specific new game mode that is still subject to change. If you really, truly hate the randomizer for Steel Path Circuit, you should not sacrifice your arsenal for it, even if you knew for a fact that no changes would be made that would to reduce the effectiveness of this choice. If the randomizer is not something you want to work with, your best option is to ignore it entirely. Play the parts of the game you like, and if changes are made to make Steel Path Circuit more palatable to you in the future, jump back into it when that time comes. I understand that this means foregoing the Incarnon Adapters, but I firmly believe that no new toy, no matter how shiny, is worth sacrificing your enjoyment of the rest of the game. Add to that the risk that such efforts may be made futile in the future, and you'll just be hurting yourself in the long run.

So that's it. I'm curious what other people think, and if you think the risk is worth the reward, what makes it worth it to you? Please remember this discussion is not about "randomizer good vs randomizer bad", it is about the risk vs reward of this specific method that several players have already implemented in order to make the new game mode(s) more palatable to their specific preferences.

  3. SO MUCH STUFF. Looks like Gara is going to be even more deadly with untold amounts of synergy. I hope that new augment works the way I think it does.

EDIT: It does not work how I thought it would. It is honestly very disappointing as an augment, and seems to work against the rest of Gara's kit.

  4. bump.

And my two-cents: This weapon was never overpowered unless you were running low level missions. This was my favorite melee weapon to switch to when i felt like soloing something and needed something to have my back, and now it's practically useless. I hate using specters, they're more annoying than anything (to me, of course they are useful to some people).

Anyone who thought Zenistar was overpowered should also be calling for a nerf the 4th abilities of half the frames in the game; especially Saryn and Revenant.

P.S. please don't nerf my Revenant, I love it.

Yeah, crafted weapons in this game don't really do it for me either, and modular primaries are right around the corner, so if you just mean this as "DE, please don't repeat the same mistakes.  (Make new, more interesting ones!)"  you have my support.

Definitely my main desire; I would never wish for them to remove content that so many players are now using and accustomed to. But some re-balancing and learning for the next system would be appreciated 🙂

And yes, I am definitely out of date on a few things, still catching up on patch notes and wikis!

  6. This is my personal opinion and feedback as a player that has played over the course of several years with a few breaks.

It seems like this is just not the same game anymore when it comes to weapons. Sure, the same weapons are there (with new additions), but none of those really matter anymore with the addition of Zaws and Kitguns. Yes, my Nikana Prime still works and slays, but an equally skilled player with a top tier Zaw will outplay any existing melee weapons. Same for Kitguns and secondaries. Not to mention the constant nerfs to all of the highest performing weapons in the game, making Zaws and Kitguns even more powerful in comparison.

While this is all fine and well, and these are weapons everyone can craft, these weapons require a ridiculous amount of standing and resource farming to make. It feels like the entire game now is just fishing and mining to hopefully craft a worthwhile modular weapon. This game has always been a grind, but now it's even more monotonous and honestly painful at times.

I'll continue to play and enjoy what I have in the game, but I really feel like I'm missing out because I can't dedicate hours every day to farming resources for crafting systems on multiple different planets. I haven't yet acquired my first Lich weapon since coming back, but I am much more optimistic about this system than the previous two.

    Sincerely,

A very tired Tenno who wants to play the game, not craft it.

  7. I  just came back to check out this update. Equipped all new gear to go level and first mission Zealots show up and kill me... Can we stop adding in these filler enemies that randomly spawn in missions and get some actual missions for endgame content? I want to fight tougher enemies with the builds I've been working on, not with Rank 0 Warframe/Primary/Secondary/Melee that I've never used before.

I have every warframe either regular or prime, but it's horribly irritating leveling the new ones (and then re-leveling for forma) when any mission you go into could be a total wash if you didn't bring a max level weapon with the right mods for a randomly spawning enemy.

Gauss looks interesting enough, but anything that's going to completely waste my time should be a choice, not RNG.

  8. Bumpidy bump.

Another slight issue is how Zenistar works with Mirage's Hall of Mirrors - If you launch the disk w/o the ability active, it sends one disk. Activate Hall of Mirrors and charge attack again (while disk is still active) will destroy the original disk but launch the Mirror's disks and visa versa.

  9. I bought the Octavia pack day 1 on the market, and I've had a lot of fun with her, but as always there are a few things that could use some major improvement:

Mallet - Honestly, on it's own I really like mallet. Good for CC, and good damage as well. It seems like infested enemies don't like to attack it very much though, which makes Octavia far less useful in those mission.

Resonator  - I was really excited to have a pet disco ball, but the combination with Mallet is just the worst power combination I've seen in this game. I understand some people might want their little roller to carry around Mallet, but the fact that the two can't be used at the same time without the Resonator hunting down and kidnapping my Mallet for an unwanted adventure is bothersome, and as a result I have not actually used Resonator during combat. The description of this ability is kind of misleading, as well. "Launches a rollerball that charms foes to follow it." I was expecting to hit 2 and watch that thing go flying, not calmly meander around in random nonsensical paths.

Metronome - This is just way too much stuffed into one ability, and is terrible to try to utilize actively in a mission. Half the time I finally do get the buff I want (normally nocturne) It doesn't work because some other buff that I don't care about is already active. Maybe make this ability more like Ivara's Quiver and give an option to cycle through what kind of buff you want to activate, and just forget about trying to force us to dance while we're fighting...

Amp - There are things that I would want changed with Resonator and Metronome, but their effects are not something I so desperately desire as to make a big fuss. Amp, however, is a bit more gamebreaking for me. You already fixed it not working for melee weapons, but it appears that it doesn't work for Warframe abilities either. I was hoping for a decent buff frame to use as an alternative to Rhino, but I guess not. If you are going to make a buff exclusive to weapons, at least be upfront and mention it in the details. "Draws power from the decibel level of sound in the area and uses it to amplify a weapon damage buff for Octavia and her allies."

Even for weapons though, this doesn't seem to work properly. I tested this in the Simulacrum with and without Amp active, and got displeasing results. I tested this with Vulkar, since it's a single shot weapon, against level 30 Drekar Lancers. My results:

Torso shot, no Amp: 535 damage

Torso Shot, Amp (343%): 604 damage

    Headshot, no Amp: 803 damage

    Headshot, Amp (343%): 1208 damage.

There is clearly a buff occurring, but it does not appear to be nearly what the buff amount is displayed as. This is something I'm not so sure if it needs a fix or an explanation, because it seems the actual effects of this frame's abilities were not very well explained from the start.

Overall I like the frame, I appreciate the quick hotfixes, but it still needs some work.

only wepons in mallets...equinox is only frame who buff power of frame skills

Sorry ashrah, but that statement is incorrect. Rhino's Roar boosts ALL damage, including damage from powers. It doesn't increase power strength directly, but it does more than just the weapon damage. I would assume that Amp functions in the same way.

  11. Always appreciate the hard work you guys put into these things, but just thought it's worth mentioning the "Network Not Responding" issue seems to be back, as well as problems with chat. Took about 15 minutes for chat to load today, after closing and restarting the app.

Doesn't seem to be game breaking, but there ya go. And I'm sure other people may have mentioned this before, I just don't have time to read through 11 pages of comments.

    Thanks DE!

  12. Really enjoying Octavia and the Limbo rework so far, but I have to say simulor, and it's syndicate variant, is practically useless now. I don't really care that it does no damage whatsoever anymore, but you took away all the cool animations like when you get a full stack and it would swirl around... now it's useless, and boring.

Still, thanks for the update. Please don't nerf any weapons I actually use :'(

Even then as far i seen, you not need to get all points at once, the event goesa whole week, and the points from before also count toward the max points of 2000, so its like 10 times playing at most, not the best event defintly but not as tedious as lets say one where you actualy had to get certain points in one mission.

You clearly have not read either the original post, or any of the relevant comments on this thread. ONLY each player's best score counts towards the clan rewards. And just so you don't get confused by all the fantasies flying around your head, Ignis Wraith is not part of the individual rewards. It can only be gained through the Clan reward tiers. Which only count each players best score.

So to clarify: It doesn't matter how many times you run the mission. Only your best score counts towards the clan rewards (Ignis Wraith). So yes, you do need to get all of the points in one run in order for it to count at all.

  14. Super cool suggestion: Go through the feedback on Operation: The Pacifism Defect. As I've mentioned several times in other posts, I've played this game for over a year and spent $1,130 (at least) on platinum and prime access, and I will not spend a penny more or even log into this game if you are going to be as stubborn on the ridiculous requirements of this event as you were on the Hema. At least the Hema research is grindable, this is just outright punishment for clans that aren't at full capacity with active MR8+ members. And MR8 is being generous, as I'd imagine people of ~11 and lower might be having trouble with these missions after the first few evacuations just because of the MR requirements on the top tier weapons.

What happens if your clan drops a tier? can it earn the lower rewards or are the clans locked into their tiers too?

I don't think this has been answered yet, so I'll give it a shot.

Almost definitely not. I had the same thought with the Hema and downgraded my clan from a Storm Clan to a Shadow clan (and had to kick a few people to do it), but since a few people had already contributed resources we were forced to keep the Storm Clan research requirements.

I cannot imagine that they will be any more forgiving with a clan event like this. In their minds they "warned us" ahead of time, but really they didn't. They told us that there was a clan event coming up, and that you had to join or start your clan before the event started in order to participate. They did not mention that it is ungrindable for solo/inactive/noob clans, because the requirements are based on you having a full clan of active members, and only your top score is contributed.

Here's hoping they make at least the first one or two rewards cumulative, so if we sacrifice our daily lives maybe we can still get this weapon.

  16. It's been said so many times already, but yeah this is a total "screw you" to clans that have any inactive or low ranked members. My Shadow clan only has 3 members who are actually active and have decent gear and mods. Everyone else has been inactive for a few weeks or has a fairly low MR and 3rd rate weapons.

We would have to get 317 extractions in a single run, assuming we are even online at the same time to run it together, just to get the lowest clan reward of the individual Ignis Wraith blueprint.

I guess that's what I get for letting new players join the clan and not kicking everyone who hasn't signed in for more than 24 hours. This isn't even something you might make money from like the Hema, you're just flat out screwing a large portion of your players.

I've already got my personal best of 428, which is far more than any one person should need just to maybe have a slight hope at getting the participation reward.

Make it cumulative instead of just the best scores and I'll grind for days. Lower the best score requirements for the first two rewards to account for less active or lower MR clans. Either of those and I will probably give the game a few more chances, but otherwise I think I am about done with this game.

I have been dedicated to this game for over a year, starting on PS4 and then moving to PC about 11 months ago. I have logged 421 hours over the course of over 200 logins, spent at least $1,130 on plat because I have enjoyed and wanted to support this game. Lately, though, I see nothing but DE trying to force barely passable content down our throats, and requiring excessively more grinding, playtime, and ruthless clan management in order to even receive that content.

  17. 1 hour ago, Mk_1 said:

I don't mean to sound like the villain, but I speak the truth. I disagree. DE isn't taking against small clans. I run a Ghost clan and we were perfectly able to achieve the first tier reward with effort from only 4 out of our 10 players. We're currently in the top 5 for the event. DE isn't against small clans, they're just reinforcing that having a clan with a majority of inactive players is not a good thing. Almost everyone knew the Ignis Wraith was going to be a Clan event weapon, so why stay in an inactive clan? Can't blame DE for the player's bad judgement.

So basically this is what DE is saying their standards are with these types of things: Your clan needs to be at full capacity, with at least 75% of your members being active and grade A players or above. Otherwise, your whole clan misses out. Kick your friends and family members and that person who has been in the ER for the last two weeks. Don't go to work, or spend time with your family; that time needs to be dedicated to WARFRAME!!!!

Your response: Yes Master, please give me some more.

Sorry, but I'm not going to kick the people I'm friends with IRL or who helped found the clan because they are prioritizing real life for a few weeks. I'm not going to reject newer players and set a MR 12 or higher requirement to join because otherwise the whole clan will miss out on what should be fairly basic content.

I can carry the weight of the new players in my clan when it comes to grinding, but this isn't a grind. Only my best score counts towards the clan score, so it doesn't matter how many times I play this mission, I will never be able to make up for the low MR players in my clan in one run.

  18. It's been said so many times already, but yeah this is a total "screw you" to clans that have any inactive or low ranked members. He is talking about the swap feature. I like this idea because you say move precepts and D ploarities around on sentinels but your mods get dropped due to the polarities not matching after a switch. This issue has nothing to do with polarizing and I like this QoL

Well that makes entirely more sense, and I have to admit I've been playing this game for over a year and I have never heard of this function. I suppose it is something that could be figured out if I spent more time in the Actions window rather than rapid clicking through to use that forma or potato.

Anyway, I do have to apologize to OP for the misunderstanding. Though I don't think the idea (in proper context) is necessary, it would definitely be convenient and I doubt it would be difficult to implement.
