I was just listening to a video on CRISPR, that holds a lot of potential as well.

And now I'm watching Fringe lmao where gene editing has gone way too far.

I completely forgot that one, so much stuff, good thing there are plenty of videos and articles for these things.
Gene editing is quite interesting, but there are so many sides to it.

I'm interested in more stemcell research, it has a lot of potential.

Indeed, there is also something about the mrna technology that maybe can be used for cancer. So many interesting things happening the medical field.

I think it's less malice and more apathy and speed.  A lot of providers have templates that they just edit as needed and simply miss certain bits because they're tired or are rushed to take care of the next patient.

10 years ago I knew a couple doctors who decided to retire when health records went electronic and doctors were being pushed to learn medical coding, they didn't want to deal with insurances having more control over a patients care or learn a new system.

Hmm, I see, good to know it is that and not something else. Our own system here is also under a lot of pressure, so the mistakes are all over the place (and the government isn't being helpful).

I can relate to that, my father had a fair bit of struggles when they change around the IT systems, and to a degree still has.

I don't know that I'm passionate about it, just, it's something that makes sense to me and has clearly defined boundaries while still allowing for interpretation.

Kind of like a huge puzzle that I enjoy untangling.

Maybe, I didn't know which word to choose. However, at least you like doing it, so I don't think it is entirely out of place.

Keep up the good work! (don't know what the English word is for this).

OSorry, medical coding is something I can talk about at length lol

It is fine, it is good to have something to be passionate about (if that is the right word), especially with how the world is right now. If I didn't have my SO I wouldn't know where I would be at this point.

Right now I have a provider with a stack of corrections who is less than thrilled with me.

They keep putting contradictory things in or are too vague.

"Patient complaining of diabetic ulcers" turned into "wound"  like, no...

"Removing hardware to prevent complications" was turned into "complications of hardware"  cool, gotta fix one of those and explain what the complications was.  I have like, 5 pages of options here.

Oh dear, that sounds very annoying. I don't like thart they try and get around it like that, for what ever gain they want.

Medical coding is the review of provider documentation and assignment of alphanumeric codes that are submitted to an insurance or other payer for reimbursement.

Basically, if you go to the doctor and say "I have a cough" and your doctor says you have viral bronchitis, their medical coder will send R05.9 & J20.9to your insurance to justify the visit, cost of care & antibiotic prescription.

A large part of my job is making sure their documentation provides a clear path from reason of visit to final diagnosis and supporting medical necessity.  Because if you tall your doctor "I have a cough" and then they charge for a head MRI and a laceration repair, not only is there no clear path of how that happened but the insurance isn't going to pay.

    Ah, good explanation, thanks.

Medical coding or computer coding?  They're two different things (and both industries suck at naming their FB network groups clearly)

First week of work from home completed! (I worked today)

So, pro, I get to play any kind of music I want and clothing is largely optional.

Con? omfg get me out of this apartment.

That would be computer coding, the closest I have been to medical stuff is medico technology course. Some terms could really use a better name indeed. Though I am curious now, what is the difference?

Working at home for long periods really suck ... hard. I spent 4 months of my internship at home, after the first month I was so miserable.

Because I was still suicidal while eating "good food"

Because I was still suicidal while exercising.

Because I was still suicidal while going to therapy.

Because I was still suicidal no matter what self managed and self motivated treatment I tried for the last 2 decades.

Some things can't be fixed the way you're describing.

Been down that road as well, but good to hear you are feeling better, it is so hard to get "free" of it. As my coach would say, that needs a high five and confetti (my coach is being very energitic and it is impossible to not smile).

Also, your kitty is very cute in that sleeping position <3

Over here, we're seeing infection numbers following the same pattern as last year, but higher! Hoping to get the danish vaccine, that is under development, at some point, since I got some really bad and lasting side effects from the Pfizer one. Mask mandate in public transportation and stores.

It is just one big mess in the end with conflicting directions all the time, it is so tiring.

Oof, hope you feel better, on the bright side the options are expanding in that category. I wonder how a third booster shot would affect me, number 2 was a bit nasty but that was Moderna and not Pfizer.

3rd week into the new job.  I really missed doing medical coding and thoroughly enjoy learning the systems.  The raise isn't too shabby either!

Sounds neat! I like the idea of coding but I am so bad at it.

Been gone for about a week and a half.  Got back last night and both cats are trying to stay as close as possible at all times.  I took a shower, they were both making noises of anguish the entire time I was in there and normally they don't give to sniffs about it.

Someone come cuddle my cats!  I only have two arms, they think I have 4 and are mad that I'm hiding them from them.

The bane of being allergic is making it insufferable .. especially when there are so many cats sitting at the shelters, just waiting for their furever home

    Also: meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooowwwwwwwww hooman! open nao!!

There is now a ‘Nora Night’ audio slider in your Options that you can use to Mute Nora’s in-game transmissions.

Finally, thanks. Now only thing left is to disable her transmissions or bundle that into the hint transmission option, so I never have to see her again.

We are tossing computers at work and for some reason I asked to take them home.

    ...

They could be wiped and donated to those that likes to fiddle and repair
