So, lets get this straight, I'm not allowed have any form of ideas for a videogame because I major in medicine and sciences instead of coding and computing, everyone is entitled to play video games and what else? The level of first worldness coming from your arguments.

How come she can have an ability that clears maps without LoS restrictions?

It's time, if you value your reputation for consistency at all.

    oh and don't forget Gauss

Yeah the LoS was the worst part. Every other nerf isn't that bad tbh.

  3. 34 minutes ago, Chewarette said:

Honestly I just don't understand the need to nerf it right away. Most of the recent frames they've released recently are broken in their own way (outright invulnerable, dealing a truckload of damage, full armor strip on 1 button,...). It's not as if "balance" is some goal they try to achieve.

Dante was not as "broken" as half the roster nowadays, I just don't get it. Dante could clean rooms, yup, now he can't anymore, so what ? We can still play the 20 or so Warframes that can still clean rooms upon using a single ability. What's the aim ?

Like they said, he was dominant, people liked him and everyone used him too much. Still a dumb reason, but there you go, they don't like you using the new characters too much.

The only flaw in your sound argument is the Assumption they

    A. Care what we think

    B. Listen to us.

Dantes utter guttering into the dumpster 7 days after launch kinda proves they don't care, and their response to the outcry -essentially "lol we don't care were nerfing him slightly less even though we should undo every change because we goofed" essentially proves they don't listen.

Just ask fir a refund if you can and dumpster him on the pile with the res t of the male casters they arbitrarily destroyed.

They know the complaints will die down eventually and people won't abandon the game over it so they have no reason to care.

which you are, bizarrely, trying to use to justify implementing an overall meaningless change

How? How am I entitled to/claiming to be entitled to better AI? I was just giving a suggestion. Are people not allowed to have thoughts now? Pretty insensitive, just because I grew up poor, didn't have the privilege of a computer growing up and didn't have the opportunity to learn how computers work, I'm not allowed to be creative and come up with ideas. Bit hypocritical don't you think?

  6. 14 minutes ago, Skoomaseller said:

then maybe don't throw around stupid takes like this to try and justify your thoughts:

What? That you should save up your money if you want to buy something nice and that you're not entitled to anything? That I grew up in a run down city in Ukraine and had plenty of fun without a computer?

  7. 2 minutes ago, Skoomaseller said:

except your main point would effectively gatekeep those lower spec players all for the sake of "improved ai" which we would obliterate in a macrosecond anyway.

trading a few thousand players for a meaningless change (and your other brilliant takes) that so far in this thread only you seem to think is a great idea is... idk if privileged isn't the right word, then perhaps foolish would fit better.

It was just a thought, I have no idea how AI works in games so I had no idea the framerate would drop so dramatically. I main in science, I'm not a computer engineer.

And if they did not add parkour 2.0 for how long warframe would've been intresting for players? Movement system is one of its signature traits. Without it warframe is just another clunky 3rd person shooter with some melee action (Kahl's missions for example). Maybe it would work in 2012-2014 but not today.

It might have survived. Either way I think this topic needs to be closed or deleted. It was just a silly suggestion that's now turned into a mess.

  9. 5 minutes ago, Skoomaseller said:

did not say it was limited to video games, just that it is an example (hence "which includes") and is also the topic at hand.

That's my point, if you can't afford it, find something else, it just sounds like entitlement. Refer to my comment just before yours. I never threw a tantrum because I couldn't have an expensive toy or a phone because I knew we were poor, why should I be entitled to something my grandparents couldn't afford? Same way people aren't entitled to running Warframe at 300FPS HDR 4K Raytracing. I literally had to play with a bit of paper tried to a stick with a string and I was happy.

believe it or not I think even the poorest people in the most economically destitute nations deserve to have even a little bit of fun, which includes playing video games. it is why games like lol, cs, blackshot xfire etc are so popular.

And you're calling me ignorant? Video games are not the only source of fun. You can

    1. Go swimming.

    2. Have a water fight.

    3. Take pictures.

    4. Go on a rock/leaf scavenger hunt.

    5. Go hiking.

    6. Start a sketchbook.

    7.  Learn and create origami.

There's so much you can do.

    Won't work well in Warframe.

I mean, Warframe used to be boots on the ground, then they added basic parkour which was nice. The biggest mistake was when they introduced parkour 2.0 and allowed you to spam 2 buttons and fly across the map, Minecraft Creative Mode style.

I grew up in the poorest area in Ukraine, we made our own fun. My grandma used to make us these little paper butterflies she tied to a rope and stick and we used to run around outside with them and played with the local cats, my grandad used to drive us to the river in his beaten down soviet car and we splashed around and had plenty of fun. You're calling me privileged yet you think the only way to have fun is by playing on an expensive machine invented in the west? Your privilege is coming out through the cracks.

some people don't even get the opportunity to get a job that pays for even half an entry level PC (so they resort to second-hand potatoes or similar) or even get the opportunity to go to school, let alone university

when you don't notice these things then come around and say S#&$ like this:

it comes off as being privileged at best, and ignorant at worst

So should everyone get a Rolls Royce just because not everyone gets an opportunity to start a business? Gaming is an optional luxury for people privileged enough to afford it, not everyone can do it and that's ok.  I probably shaved off like 20 years off my lifespan working multiple jobs so I can have the privilege of buying a tiny ready meal in the reduced section and earned a profession where i earn good money and save lives. I've earned this privelege.

that sentence is so wrong on many level, you need to begin to reflect on yourself because you clearly lack some basic humanity.

Rather than insult, explain. I saved up, as a university student, almost a decade to buy this current PC. Every month after I paid off basic expenses, I've had like $10 remaining. If I can do that, so can anybody else. You just have to work, I know it's unfair, but that's how the world is, you don't get something if you don't work for it and you certainly don't deserve something you haven't worked for.

I don't know if you know how to count or if your privilege doesn't let you see the truth.

In third world countries (mostly Latin America) people do not have the money to build a powerful PC because it is twice as expensive as in countries like the United States, but I can assure you that they can spend $25 a month in a game (this is my case, although I was able to improve myself and leave my country of origin and now I lead a good life). Now if 10% of the players who have low end PCs spend $25 dollars per month taking into account that the peak of players among all platforms and clients is about 400-500k players it would be around 45000+- if you multiply That for $25 dollars would be around $1,000,000 - $1,200,000 a month alone.

But you have spent 2000$ on the game and poor people have no right to play the game because you need your improved AI. Ridiculous.

Stop putting words into my mouth. I've had $10 left per month after all my student expenses and I saved up for almost a decade for a powerful PC. The $2000 I spent was after I worked night shifts, all night study sessions, day shifts on exactly 0 hours of sleep and got the highest grades in university and landed a good job as a doctor. If I can wait almost an entire decade, so can anybody else. There was nothing privileged about my life, I just worked hard.

    what an incredibly ignorant statement

jade shadows will be paid DLC ($50) and DE will move 3 major updates worth of content into a "vault." enjoy your game bros!

It's fine, I'll spend $100 on a floppy thing that sticks to your back, $8 so I don't have to wait 12 hours + 3 days to craft something I spent 4 week grinding for, $80 on a pack full of bloat that uses FOMO to get you to buy it and many more Warframe DLC. And before you say these things are optional, so is the Destiny DLC, nobody is forcing you to buy either.

Yeah, I can see it's clearly an unpopular opinion, I give up on it.

  15. Honestly, not really expecting anything fun like playable stalker. This will probably be another fairly short quest, no Stalker faction (god forbid we have fun) or anything like that.

    "

    Wishlist of rewards:

    - Stalker helmet (male/female) for fashion.

    - Loincloth attachment that replaces Umbra's Scarf.

War Incarnon: I understand why some may believe this may not be possible as it's a Sentient Weapon: However being that it's a weapon, not a living Sentient. I'd consider a War Incarnon possible since Hunhow utilized War to travel to the Reservoir with Stalker without dealing with the effects of the void, so it theoretically can work.

    - Stalker playable/modable outside Duvir. Minimum in the current state he's in when accessible in Duviri, or have him in a more modern state where is abilies are not cut/copy/paste from other frames (Ash, Helminth, Nyx)

    - Jade Warframe, her signature weapon (looks like an executioner axe/scythe.

    Stalkers future:

If he becomes more of an "ally" like in New War, then I'm expecting a new Assassin to take his mantle and he is "retired" as our Assassin.

Proto-Stalker: I mean just how cool would this be in the WF1999 universe? Either friend, foe or playable (I prefer playable)."

I'm sorry but this is too cool and fun for us.

Warframe definitely does need an AI pass, yes. But also, we have somewhat more interesting enemies to fight. They're called the murmur. They have support units, big chonky area denial units - two of them, one going after energy one dealing damage - fast units and really physically large units to act as meat shields.

As enemy design goes, the Murmur are fairly basic, but they're leagues above... quite frankly anything DE has put out for a while.

(looking at you, Bombards which are physically identical to Lancers from a distance

      Hide contents

    oV91XQu.jpg

But I'd honestly be shocked if quite a few people don't really notice this fact, except maybe the Hollow Vein and the Severed Warden. Maybe.

    As for this

Not by a long shot. Movement shooters might need a different approach, but Warframe's movement is distinct and a huge part of what makes it distinct. DE might toy with modes that reduce or remove it quite a bit, but they also gave Kahl a Jetpack and Duviri Drifter 'Fleet Footed'. They know movement is a huge part of the game's fun and appeal. And the new Dev team have been doing a much better job building gamemodes and tilesets that actually work for this style of gameplay - the Zariman and the Duviri Labs are big and open, but still highly vertical with lots of things to jump up onto, wall climb over and fly over.

Which is why you have more grounded parkour, not borderline flight. The parkour can still be fun without enabling you to fly across the map in seconds.

OP sounds like the kind of guy who dislikes Warframe, so he's trying to push DE to make Warframe not Warframe anymore to suit his preferences.

I spent like what, $2000 on this game across PC and XBOX, I don't dislike the game, I'm just giving suggestions that I know will never happen but would still make the game more interactive and fun.

    3 hours ago, trst said:

Parkour wasn't a mistake, but parkour 2.0 was. Like no, seriously, in the original system we had movement that actually interacted with the environment and which had tech that heavily rewarded knowledge of said environment. Like rooms that'd require a long walking path, a shorter jumping/wall running path, then the shortest wall melee path that was almost on par with modern bullet jumping.

Unfortunately all the intrigue and nuance of that system was lost on almost all players due to how overpowered coptering was with sheer horizontal speed. Then lost entirely thanks to DE killing the entire system just to rid of coptering.

And as for AI just no. There is no more intelligent decision an AI can make other than "run in and shoot/spam everything" when the average life expectancy of a unit measures in the range of a few seconds to a few frames. There's literally no time for any sort of tactics to exist. And even if there was there'd then be the age old issue of CC spam meaning you'd either need Overguard on all units else only Eximus could have time to make decisions, which then doesn't matter when considering individual units.

Also just making the game slower doesn't resolve balancing. All the systems players have access to need to be directly balanced.

If you combined all of my ideas, the AI part would make sense. If you can't just fly over the enemy and nuke them, then it would only make sense for their AI to be better otherwise you're just shooting headless chickens.

    3 hours ago, CosoMalvadoNG said:

Tell that to the DE wallet and see what they say.

If those players can't afford to buy a second hand GTX 1080 or 1070, then i highly doubt they'd be spending money in game. I used to play this game on max settings on a GTX 1080 like a year and a half ago. They go for as little as $80 - $120.

  17. 5 hours ago, Tsukinoki said:

That is one of the worst takes in a long time.

The game was anemic and annoying before the parkour updates...and it's not like the parkour update is what allowed for skipping entire maps and all the enemies.  I mean first we had zoren coptering and all that.

Improve the AI all you want, won't fix anything or actually make any difference because we cant immediately and permanently lock down all enemies within 60 meters with the push of a single button.

Beyond that the AI does have tactics...when they can survive and actually do things long enough for the tactics to work.
They'll group up in nullifier bubbles and frost eximus bubbles.
    They'll get behind shield troopers.
    And so on.

It's just that those never have a chance to actually come into play because either we just atomized the entire room, or locked their AI down the second they spawned.

And without being forced to actually fight them players will just ignore them.

I mean how many players just ignore the juggernauts, or the noxes, or in the entrati labs the voidrigs, and just choose to not deal with them in any way, shape or form, because the missions allow you to do so?

And even if we were somehow forced to deal with those enemies then we'll just get back to the lockdown and cheese tactics, which even exist for the snooze of a fight known as the 60 eye fragmented one.

So why not change up the game so you can't use the copter thing, remove the parkour and make the abilities range limited meaning you can't affect enemies through walls, behind cover etc...

    5 hours ago, N7_Dredgen said:

In my experience there's a line with AI... games with actually capable AI can often be pretty unfun because AI behaves rather spammy.  I'm thinking of games like the Division where the enemies do have pretty tactical behaviors, but on harder difficulties the enemies just spam dodgeroll and hide in cover 24/7 which is a tactically smart choice, but make for some arse gameplay.

I don't even think AI would make a difference though.  We have 11 years of mod and gear and synergies that make us literal Gods.  One simply has to accept that Warframe is just never going to be difficult unless you create your own difficulty.  It's a game built mostly on its chill factor and that's alright, not every game needs to be a harrowing combat experience.

We do have more advanced AI now, we can set conditions that prevent spamming certain tactics.

If they improve the AI, the game will require much more memory which will increase the load on the PCs/Console and here there are at least 30% of the players with hot potatoes per PC/Console. It's NOT that they don't know how to improve the AI, it's just that the hot potatoes don't allow it.

Rather a better game than cater to people barely able to run the game in the fist place.

    2 hours ago, C11H22O1 said:

They can create an AI so advanced it can behave like a real professional player would and it still wouldn't matter because we're too strong compared to the enemies we fight

Which is why you make the game boots on the ground where you can't fly past them and make the enemies a lot stronger. This would mean, rather than spam ctrl+space to fly over their heads and bounce off the walls, you will have to tactically engage them in a thoughtful manner.

    2 hours ago, Waeleto said:

I think DE needs to start creating more challenging enemies (like the fragmented one) in mass, like stop with the regular grineer troops, make actually difficult to fight enemies

That to me seems like a healthier way of balance

I don't agree, only making the enemies bullet sponges without any other change will just make playing more tedious.

  19. Rather than just lazily spawn a few dozen weak enemies and give the player the ability to fly across the map by spamming CTRL+Spacebar, make the game boots on the ground, make it more tactical. The game feels more like Minecraft creative mode where you can just fly around and throw around random stuff you downloaded from a mod website. The parkour update was a massive mistake. Also make the amount of enemies realistic and a lot tougher, real militaries don't just scatter 20 random troops in all directions, they need to use tactics. The Ai needs to be improved so they behave like an actual soldier.

The only good overguard ability I can think of is Rhino's Iron Skin. For two reasons:

    1. It works only for Rhino and does not 'disrupt' anyone;
    2. It scales off of enemy damage output. This is important because overguard cannot get damage reduction and overguard cap is honestly bs - it will always feel imbalanced for lower level content and completely irrelevant in higher level content where it gets deleted if a lancer looks at you funny. The window where capped overguard stays relevant is tiny (and different for all frames that have it for some reason). 0.5 seconds gating is nice tho but not much.

So, nerfing Dante's og buff will not achieve much aside from pissing everyone off I think. Making it scale with enemy lvl around Dante when he casts it can work, probably.

Originally, this was a thread about Overguard, not Dante in particular. Why did it get merged?

Hence why they're probably going for his slash nuke ability.
