Buffs and Debuffs in Pause Menu
The meme of Octavia players giving their squadmates enough buff indicators to look like an MMORPG screen is real and valid. Worry not -- we’re not changing the buffs you get, we’re simply adding the ability to see what the actual Buff and Debuff Icons mean when entering your Pause Menu:

    image.jpeg

      Reveal hidden contents

Image Description: The Warframe Pause menu. In the upper right-hand corner, below the currency bar, there is a list of buff icons applied to the Warframe in-mission. The mouse is hovering over the Wisp Haste Icon, showing the buff name (“Haste Mote”) and description (“Increased movement and Attack Speed”).

As you can see in the screenshot above, hovering over the icon will show you the effect’s name and possibly the description. Our goal is to eventually add a description for every icon, but at the time of writing, we estimate that there are around 800 icons needing descriptions, and unfortunately, the majority of them require a bit of work to get set up. We will be working on this system and releasing icon descriptions in batches wherever we can!

Yeah, there's 800, and up till now you EXPECTED PLAYERS TO MEMORISE THOSE SOMEHOW, so yeah, that's something that has been a long time coming! Finally someone that knows what UX should be was added to the team, i guess!

  2. Would be great if cross platform community stuff was working. I have a friend that i got into Warframe, that only plays PS. And i play PC, but i can't befriend him, can't get him in clan, its nice that we can play together, but community and social stuff needs to be cross platform asap for this to be meaningful.

  3. Congrats Reb! Warframe wouldn't be where it is without you pushing for the awesome relationship the dev team and the community has reached. Its a well deserved title, and while i'll miss steve, i'm looking forward to see the continued improvement of warframe.

    Tenno,

Digital Extremes has been my home for my entire game development career. 20+ years for those counting (I try not to). Over 10 of those years have been on Warframe as you know it today, but in truth the Warframe story started much earlier. Warframe once existed as Dark Sector in my mind in the early 2000’s. Turning that seed of ‘Dark Sector’ into ‘Warframe’ has been a life-defining accomplishment for me and the Digital Extremes team. I feel like I can say: We did it. And in some ways, I thought it’d be the last thing we’d do as a team. But we want to tell another story.

Soulframe development has officially just begun. We hope you follow along. It’s only possible because the community believed in Warframe to allow me 10 beautiful years in the Origin System. Further still, the Warframe team believed in me, but more importantly, I believe in them. I know they can do great things with the story of the Tenno. And now, a group of us have set our sights on the Fantasy genre to tell the story of Soulframe.

I want to have Fantasy & Science Fiction as a part of Digital Extreme’s legacy. I want to spend as much time with Soulframe as I have with Warframe. My beard only has so much black left in it.

Envoys, see you in the future.

We all lift together - and always will.

Thanks for everything Steve, from Unreal Tournament, which ate up almost as many hours as warframe did, to the next project (soulframe) which i'll keep following with as much enthusiasm as i have warframe, and who knows what else in the future.
Thanks and hope to see you soon, on a (new) couch somewhere.

  5. Your major issue is the weapon type.
Braton and Boltor are spam weapons, so they're made to shoot a lot of bullets quickly and hose a group with bullets to kill lots of weaker enemies.
In Disruptions, you want to kill single targets quickly, so you want weapons that have a lot of single shot damage, even if they shoot slowly, stuff like Tigris, Hek, opticor, etc pack a big punch to kill the big targets. After that you cab bring something better for cleaning up groups on your secondary or melee slots.

Warframe became overloaded with stuff to learn troughout the years.

Popups and tip windows could help a lot to new players (should have on/off button in options and on by default)

Maybe make Ordis usefull and make him give tips them dunno.

A lot of new player met had no idea they can mod theyr weapons.....

    tenor.gif

    This.

I think having Ordis Interject when certain milestones are done, like:
Player hits Rank 30 on his first weapon:
"Operator, you've Mastered your first weapon, Congratulations!! Maybe you should build new weapons and master those to improve your Mastery Level. Have you checked the Market? I hear there's a few more MK1 weapons you can get."
Similar dialogue for Rank 30 on first frame.
Mods are already covered, but maybe pop-up a tutorial on modding since its a bit more complicated. Or you can go for steps.
    Player equips a mod:
"Operator, you installed your first mod! You can rank it up to get greater benefits!"
    Player Ranks a mod:
"Operator, good job improving your Mod! You can make more mods fit your warframe and weapons by improving your Mastery or by Equipping a Orokin Reactor or Catalyst"
    Player Equips a Potato:
"Operator you've doubled your Mod capacity! Good job! If you still need more space, you can use forma to change the polarity of your mod slots. If you match the polarity of the slot and the mod, it halves the cost of the mods installed in that slot!"

    Etc.

Those 40k+ runs are are behind hundreds of attempts to learn which rotations to go for and which tilesets are the best ones to run on. That's more than enough rolls to get the rotational rewards from the actual mission just in failed attempts. Your casual players would look at about 22k score per run. Besides, I was speaking about buying out ALL the arcanes, which totals upto 218.4k cells. Let's say you exclude half of the commons and 7 uncommon arcanes because that's approximately how many totally useless ones there are, the total still remains 147k, which for a casual would be 66-67 full runs and half of that for experienced runners.

Then there's also the opportunist case of hoarding a bunch of Legendary arcanes to keep and sell for decent platinum later on the line. Who knows how many runs people did doing that. Some people went way harder on this event than just the bare minimum.

Buying all the arcanes is somewhat strawmanish. But ok.

  9. 3 hours ago, Wyrmius_Prime said:

It was a waste from the start, because you could have just got all the weapon and Lavos parts from the random rewards anyway, and bought all the arcanes with the points. It takes much longer to buy 21 of each arcane or even 21 each of the actually useful ones than it does getting 2x lavos sets and 1 Cedo set from the random rewards.

    Except that its random?
I did a ton of it, bought a lot of arcanes, and never got the receiver for Cedo.

For example, math says that for a ~99% certainty of getting the entire lavos set it takes ~200 A rotations which is equivalent to ~12 full 36 wave runs. More if you don't get to the full thing. That doesn't seem much, but this event coincided with holidays and new year, which for a lot of people is a busy time, not everyone had the entire month to run daily.

Cedo is more or less the same thing, except you only have 1 B rotation per cycle, so you need ~24 36 wave runs for 99% certainty. And still in the end of all that, 1% of players won't have the drop.

Oh, and the most expensive arcanes cost 800 per, so a full 21 arcanes to max tier would be 16800 Phasic cells to buy. Running 36 waves 12 times would get you at least around 24 000 cells, assuming a minimum of 2000 cells per 36, which is pretty easy to get, i mean people were doing 40k legitimate runs apparently. So that also disproves your claims.

Perhaps a silly question, but I cannot find a place it has already been answered anywhere.

What will become of the new necramech mods that were part of Orphix Venom Operation and Event Store rewards?

    For those complaining:

    1) DE made it clear Cedo and Lavos were not something you should be focusing on with cells as they made them drop through the event. Same with the new necramech mods. If you chose to make them a priority, that was your decision.

    2) If you really thought DE was going to make a frame only obtainable once a year, and didn't expect them to put it in game somewhere after this event ended, that's on you.

It's a WF. Even Hildryn, the closest thing to a time limited frame (for someone theoretically who has no thermia saved up, and wants to go it totally alone), still has the event reoccurring within weeks. Did you really think, for one second, DE was going to make a "once a year" frame?

    Come ON.

I agree with you mostly. I was expecting them to add it back, either on Simaris (since that's been the latest dump of things for people to get after events and whatnot), or much better, making the event regular.
Didn't really expect it to be dealt in such a lazy fashion, especially when if you add the dev time that went into this, plus scarlet spear, for them to be wasted on a single issue mission. Its just nonsense, they keep telling us its hard to do things, they've pushed back every single release, but they still find it productive to just kill all the man hours that went into these events on a one-off thing.

no matter where it dropped people were going to complain. its inevitable. complaining is our passtime. make it an easy reward like standing shop and you "wasted" your time doing the event for it. make it a bounty reward and people would complain about bounty dilution, if he was in the dojo people would complain that research takes too long, the research costs are too high for solo clans or high tiers, or that once again it was too easy to get him.

What if they'd just made the event return, like the Thermia fissures? How would people complain?

I am really not sure why you have kept parts at a different rank than the base blueprint.

If it's to incentivise ranking up the syndicate you could keep all the parts and blueprints at the same higher rank , buying a blueprint only to know you don't have the parts for it yet leaves a poor taste.

If you still want to keep it that way you could have the parts first and then the main BP , at least players will have something cooking in the foundry while they wait for the standing reset and will actually log in soon to claim it as well as try to rank up the syndicate.

Unless of course the objective is indeed to use up as much of a players time as possible.

Would make more sense to make it the other way around, allow us to get parts at lower rank to build and, during the 12h build time get the rank for the rest... But hey, i mean, clearly this is not a great week for whoever decides these things... I mean, they had a choice to give Lavos in a number of ways, from upcoming events, Simaris, or making OV a recurring thing like Thermia Fissures... And they chose what's probably the laziest, and frankly, the most aggravating as someone that spent a bunch of time playing Orphix.
Luckly i only needed one of the parts for Cedo, and got everything else from drops, so i still managed to spend most of my Phasic Cells on cosmetics and Arcanes. But i really feel for the people who put in the time to buy Lavos and Cedo.

Also that leaves another question: Where will those Necramech mods come from now that OV is ending? Probably some other cheesy and lazy way. When the best answer was to fix all the bullS#&$ scoring issues with OV and put it back as a recurring thing. But nope, too much work for DE, too busy making the next glitchy and buggy mess of new content.

    PC Tenno!

With Operation: Orphix Venom coming to an end TODAY on PC, we must give a new home to Lavos and his signature weapon - the Cedo. This week will bring a Hotfix that puts all the required Blueprints needed for both Lavos and the Cedo in Father’s Wares for Entrati Standing.

Similar to Baruuk, you will be able to acquire Lavos/Cedo and their parts at varying Entrati Ranks:

Lavos Blueprint: Rank 2 - Acquaintance

    Lavos Chassis/Neuroptics/Systems: Rank 3 - Associate

Cedo Blueprint: Rank 4 - Friend

    Cedo Barrel/Receiver/Stock: Rank 5 - Family*

Thanks for playing Operation: Orphix Venom - stay tuned for this week’s Hotfix!

(*note: if these placements change we will detail in the official Hotfix notes).

    Bah...
I'd much rather see Orphix become a recurrent event like the fissures...
You guys need to stop wasting time and assets on making stuff for a single operation and leaving it in cold storage.
The new war could be an actual on-going thing if you hadn't mishandled Scarlet Spear and now Orphix Venom so badly.

Also, pretty awesome for people who spent Phasic cells on somewhat overpriced stuff that's no being dumped on a regular standing shop. No backlash expected there... Seriously i really wonder who comes up with these things, and how many people this has to go through without one person saying, maybe there's another way?

Thats what they are doing right now and at the end of every year. ^~

Sure, i get that. And its kind of a nice touch.

But its clearly inefficient in the way its delivered, since they apparently need to run a separate script... And that's all kinds of nonsense when they could just do it automatically by making the noggles an integral part of the Prime pack.

Because then people might think you are paying for the Noggle too and some people dont care about noggles then might lose interest in buying the PAs because of it.
I learned with R/ that for some people, Free is still too expensive...

Could just give it without showing it on the store...

novel idea, why not put the noggle in the PA accessories no extra script needed, get it when you buy it any day of the year like the rest of the stuff with it

Or in all relevant packs... I mean, if you get them from buying the warframe, then it should be in the warframe pack and the full pack. If the weapons and accessories also award those, then, any pack should give the noggle...

Guys, you are all assuming that the fixes started AFTER the test server phase, and that this in turn would infer "some small hasty fixes" (because there wouldn't be time for anything else). In my experience that is not how software development works, it's not a 100% linear process.

I also think you are giving yourself a bit too big shoes. I am very sure that all feedback is both valuable and very welcome to DE, but I find it hard to believe that a final deployed build would be dependent on a testing phase performed by "randoms from the internet".

It is much more likely that a build was put on the test server as more of a extra bug hunt (more eyes find more bugs, right), and maybe even as a grateful nod to a very dedicated playerbase (DE is one of the nice ones, after all). While the work & progress on the final deployable build was going on elsewhere. So chill, soon we will know.

Was hoping it would drop tonight, but if so it would probably be in about 20 minutes. Haven't seen any message about Steve being online though (that is nowadays a pretty "sure sign" 🤪).

Well, first, its not randoms from the internet.

Second, they did change things in accordance to the feedback.

Third, are you saying that DE are so dumb that they'd spend time and resources creating the public test environment and then disregard that feedback?

Yeah. Like Heavy attack to grab an enemy and another heavy throw it. Certain weapons could do something different. For example swords would just throw an enemy in front of you. Blade and whip (e.g. Mios) would make a "circle" with enemy and then throw it.

Nunchucks might look nice but they would be boring without any interesting feature. Even warfans have one.

    1) You realize the sword and the grab are for the Necramech? Not a normal melee thing. But yeah, it would be fun if they had a stance that incorporated stuff like that.
    2) Well, lets put it this way, most of the strongest melee weapons in the game don't need a gimmick to be strong. That's kind of the case, they're pretty fast (faster now), with good range, status and crit. They're perfect for the current CO+Blood Rush+Weeping Wounds melee meta.
I tested them only in the simulacrum, vs 170 enemies, and they tore through them at lvl 1, imagine after a forma or 2...

I guess when it comes right down to it it's mote point since the update is going out probably today or has already been done (was catching up on Star Trek Discovery) and to be honest all I'm looking forward to in this update is the new bow, so I guess we'll wait and see what happens.

The bow is cool, but the nunchucks and beam pistol are awesome and the sniper is so much fun as well!

Yaaaayy, we get another broken update for 3 month untouched. I'm playing this game for 7 years, invested lots of time and value, but its getting tired for not listening to the playerbase.

    9553405acoj11.png

Well, it was never bugs, or broken update...
They did listen to most of the feedback. But like i expected, they just tuned up things instead of bringing them back to the drawing board.
So basically the bonewidow got buffs, but the lack of use-cases for its skills is still there. But i guess with the new buffs, only 2/4 of the skills might suck, since they did seem to apparently make the shield useable, and they buffed the exalted sword. Lets just see if enough.

The new arcanes, if they stick to only what was shown on the new thread on the forums, although buffed, still suffer from the fundamental flaw of depending on the 20% chance of the kitgun arcane to trigger the warframe arcane, which means it will be useless 80% of the time.

They didn't say much about kitguns, so i'm guessing they'll still be underwhelming...

So basically, although they DID listen and act on our feedback. The fundamental flaws of some of the upcoming content will remain, because, sadly, its hard for a developer to acknowledge that the ideas they brought forth were not good enough. And so we'll still have a mech that won't see the light of day, except to look cool, and arcanes that, while being the major reward on the new bounties will also drag that content down for their uselessness.

  21. 1 hour ago, GkarB5 said:

Thank you very much for answering most of my questions.

Question: In order for my warframe to get those Necramech mods that drop off the enemy mechs - would my warframe have to be very near that particular enemy mech (that has dropped a mod) in order to get it?  I'm asking because I'm usually the last player to get to the enemy mechs in the current Isolation Vault bounties & I've never gotten a Necramech mod from them.

Yeah its a drop, so you need to be close enough for vacuum/fetch to grab it. And if you don't have those, what are you doing to yourself man? ^_^

Its not unusual for you to not have seen one drop. I've soloed a few mechs, and farmed enough to get my own mech parts, and honestly, i think i dropped one mod?

I'd like to be able to summon Necramechs in (Elite) Sanctuary Onslaught & Arbitration missions too.

People have mentioned Scott showing necramechs in normal tilesets, so it might be possible in arbitrations. In SO/ESO it won't be possible, for the same reason you can't do archguns, they require the gear wheel, which is disabled in that content

    1 hour ago, GkarB5 said:

Yes, I'm painfully aware of this fact.  I'm all in favor of DE either changing the current version of ESO/SO to allow us to access our Gear Wheel or create an alternate version of ESO/SO that only takes place on open world maps & would allow us to only summon our Necramechs.

I wouldn't count on that happening. They're very distinct contents. You'll have Hydron, which is almost as good (if/when they allow necramechs on regular tilesets).

When I played World of Warships and played there test server, the actual update took about two weeks after we finished to be posted, I'm very concerned about getting this update this soon, it makes me think, 1) That either they are superheroes and were able to do all the changes suggested in such a short amount of time, or 2) they ignored all the feedback and decided to put the update out anyway with the thought that whatever is broken they will fix later.

I'm afraid its more likely 3) They ignored a lot of the feedback, and worked their butts off changing what could be changed in short notice. Because lets face it, for example, the Bone widow feedback can be summarized to "scrap it, go back to the drawing board", and honestly, that's what it needs. But that is likely not going to sit well with whoever was designing it. And personal pride, deadlines, etc will get in the way of doing it right.
Because, on paper the skills are cool. Impaling enemies, and then tossing them, that's pretty cool (when you can hit the enemy in the first place, and still have enough energy to throw it), but the necromancers literally come with some of the best ranged weapons in the game. Suddenly tossing an enemy at others loses importance. Same with the "line them up" skill... Looks cool, its an interesting form of cc, but it simply doesn't work for the current use of the necramech, that makes sense in the normal tilesets where enemies will be somewhat close by. But on open world? Where the most eminent threats are usually at max range? The mech needed either a proper defense skill (shield is kinda wonky) or a regen skill, for it to work as a melee. It got neither.
