I am confused as to what part of me enjoying warframe since the beginning requires me to bear any role of responsibility. That's utterly insane. And pointing out game issues and calling certain people out for ignoring issues isn't the worst thing, in a healthy community its how the game grows to everyone's liking.

You are missing the point, all I'm saying is don't be one of the generic idiots online that just complain about everything, and I am not saying you are. If you enjoy the game, then fine, if you have criticism its fine, just give feedback in a constructive way.

  2. -----------------------Disclaimer---------------------------

This is my personal opinion and is not meant to be seen as an attack on a person/persons in the community, content creators or employees of DE in any way. It serves as a point of entry for critical and objective discussion to better the game we all love and hopefully shed light on the underlying issues the gaming community faces today.

    ----------------------End of disclaimer-------------------

In February of 2018 I wrote a post called "The Unseen Danger" in response to some negative experiences and trends that I personally experienced as a tenno. Not only in game, but also on various platforms like Youtube. In that post I mainly stated that I was concerned that the foundation of Warframe up to that point and the culture that had been built was in danger of changing or being negatively influenced by certain factors. Those factors being (1) The influx of new players not understanding the culture and way more experienced tenno behave and interact in the game world, (2) The responsibility of "Veteran" players or more experienced players to mentor new players to enjoy Warframe that we love and lastly, (3) The responsibility of content creators to stay objective, honest and give constructive criticism about the game to keep DE honest to their base values when they started their journey.

Now, almost a year later I am starting to feel that my fears were justified.

I say this in the wake of some pretty unsightly grumblings within the community of Warframe, primarily being that of some certain Youtubers and newer players. Which brings me to my first point.

"The content drought" and the snowflake condition

First off, I would like people to understand that DE is a studio of just about 200 - 250 people, working on multiple areas of game development and projects for future content without much more that 6 months planning (personal estimate), as improvisation and adaptability has always been a key characteristic of the company (from experience and their track record). With other companies that release the same quality of content as Warframe, having hundreds more. I do understand that 2018 was not a year of many content updates compared to other years and that you get bored of running the same stuff over and over, especially as a veteran, but that does not excuse us of losing our common sense. Understand that working on a content release like Fortuna takes massive amounts of resources to complete, therefore limiting the amount of other releases. Complaining about it and threatening to "never play this stupid game again" just shows that you have no clue as to the culture that the base community of Warframe has and I feel you should maby try to exercise some patience or get over your higher than though attitude. We have become spoiled as Warframe players in a time where AAA studios create games not even close to this standard and charge you $60 + micro-transactions for something that keeps you busy for a few days.

    To the content creators

The point above applies to you as well, and honestly more so, as you are the ambassadors of the game, the people new players listen to first or go to for help. Unfortunately some members have failed our community, resorting to video's that amount to nothing more than a tantrum, or complaining about stuff that is being fixed or addressed as we speak and even "attacking" players on a personal level for having an opposing view. If something is wrong with the game, say it, but don't act like you've been to war and saw your friends die in a cruel act of unjust betrayal while claiming to be "objective" and wanting "whats best for the game". It discredits you and does more harm to the future of the game than good.

I sincerely hope this gives some people perspective or sticks in the back of their minds somewhere in order for us to make our own gaming experiences better.

    Yours kindly

So after playing the sacrifice quest and giving my emotions some time to calm down, I started to ponder over the implications of what has happened with regards to lore and the story so far. I really loved this quest and DE really did a great job with it in my opinion. Some things did come up when I thought about the future quests. (please keep in mind that these are just my speculations and ideas I have about what's next)

Things I learnt in the Sacrifice quest:

    • The umbra frames are not empty shells, they are dax/elite soldiers that were turned into frames by a controlled strain of the infestation.
    • They were the first attempt at Warframes (as far as I can tell)
    • They were unwilling volunteers to this process and usually involved torture and psychological manipulation/brainwashing
    • Umbra Frames relive 1/more horrific memory constantly
    • If Balas is a puppet of the sentients, why was natah created in the image of lotus/Margulus (was it at Balas' request? If so, that's creepy bro)
    • Natah's mother resides in the void/tau system
    • and lastly, why the covert infiltration of the tenno by natah if she isn't on our side? What's the motive?

Now, after all these questions and tid-bits it hit me. Just a wild thought here with regards to the story so far. I think Balas is still alive and that our "lotus"/Margulus is somewhere alive as well. I suspect that this fact will play a vital role in the story to come in the tau system. I was however wondering if Isaah is still alive and seeing that the Umbra frames are made from dax soldiers, it is likely that the Stalker is one aswell. If so is it possible that the Stalker is actually Isaah and he would play a role in the next cinematic quest? It kinda all adds up... Hunhow, Balas and Stalkers connection to one another and now Natah resurfacing and fleeing?

Regardless of what is right and will happen, I had fun thinking about it. Leave some thoughts, I definitely missed something somewhere.

  4. You make some interesting points, some of which I need to go check up on to be honest, thanks for the feedback! Just for clarity's sake, I didnt mean the player count is the issue, I meant that its the result the interaction of negative/rude players is having on the greater majority of the community. :)

  5. ***Disclaimer***- This topic is aimed at presenting my personal views and opinions to the current state of Warframe and it's community. It is meant to perhaps shed light on the fears I have regarding topics that are currently under discussion and is by no means aimed at any particular person(s).

    To whom it may concern,

I have been playing Warframe on and off for over 3 years as of now and have clocked 1200 hours and by no means see myself as a veteran player compared to most of my fellow tenno or content creators, but I've been through all of the bumps and hickups/ growth-pains, and I can honestly say that I don't regret 1 second of the journey. I love this game and the amazing effort that has been put into it. I've seen Warframe grow and evolve into something I, and perhaps most of my peers, couldn't even have dreamed of, and I was ecstatic to see the flood of new players discover this gem of a game in a time where they are hard to find. Unfortunately I have been seeing things lately that gives me knots in my stomach, and here's why...

Expansion and Influx of New players

With release of Plains of Eidolon, Warframe has effectively changed the way of how we saw the game and paved the way for amazing future development, something I'm personally really excited to see. With this there has been a massive influx of new players, and its amazing to see people just have pure unadulterated fun for once, that being said, Warframe might not be new player friendly as it doesn't hold your hand. You are left to figure stuff out for yourself, personally I liked this fact and discovering how stuff worked and what to do next, but I understand that not all people like this and that it can be really intimidating for some people. Up to now the warframe community has been amazing, where Veteran players see it as their duty and their privilege to help new players get up to speed. It gives us (well, me at least) a fuzzy feeling to see people find their "Ahhhh that's so cool" moments. With the ever expanding playerbase however I have seen that there are new players that don't subscribe to the standing culture and philosophy that the community has shared up to now, I am concerned that the negativity of those few bad apples is starting to have a negative "pay-forward effect" on the more "Veteran" players and even content creators.

Responsibility of Veteran Players and Content Creators

This is probably the main issue I'm getting at... I think all of this became most apparent for me with the 22.12.0 Shrine of the Eidolon patch that dropped a few days ago. I have heard a lot of feedback, negative and positive. Honestly I was angry and frustrated at first with the changes that took place, my beloved Ember and Banshee now feels like that ex girlfriend you still love, but can't because It won't ever feel the same again.... (I may have some emotional issues). Many of the changes forces players to change the way they use certain frames or load-outs, maby in a way that has put them off as they don't subscribe to the new play-style they now have to adopt.

After a afternoon of pouting however the thought occurred to me, one that scared me... I have become part of the problem. As a "veteran" I have got used to how frames and weapons work, I've min-maxed the hell out of my load-outs to be effective at the task I designated them for... Want to farm relics? Banshee + Defense, Want to feel like hell-fire incarnate? Use World on fire Ember... But was this really best for the future of Warframe as a whole? After some soul searching, I have to say no.... Efficiency is not always fun... it gives rise to evils like AFK farming, and its gets boring after the so-many-ith round of ODD looking for mutagen samples (yes... It still triggers me).

So I get the anger of the changes that took place and the removal of the raids, which only a fraction of the player-base actually did... But I think it is wrong and irresponsible for veteran players and content creators to lose their minds and grab the nearest pitchfork because they are inconvenienced about critical design changes by DE... I have to admit, I am not a content creator and I have no Idea of the stress and the work it takes to make videos to and audience of thousands that may hate everything you say and do, I have great respect for people who do that for a living, but there is a responsibility to new players and to the future of Warframe to be objectively critical about what is happening and to give constructive feedback to DE, and not to give the "they changed everything, raids are gone, F*ck DE" comments I've been seeing by players and content creators.

I hope this makes at least a bit of sense and that It is helpful in some way, feel free to tell me where I am wrong and if I might be a little to emotionally invested, this wasn't really an objective feed :D

    Yours Kindly,

    Axiom-ZA
