My original question is why do some people find it socially acceptable... WHY?

    The answer then:

    They don't.

However, there is very little we can do to change these people, so we do the best we can and REFUSE to let these types of slime ruin our enjoyment of the game. Therefore we use the tools we have and continue to enjoy said game. I, for one, feel that DE has done adequately in dealing with the situation within the limits of what they can do (legally and technically). It is DE I am advocating. I do not (let me repeat that), I do NOT find AFK/Leeches "socially acceptable". I highly doubt you will find anyone that does. What you have found are those that refuse to let myopic little minds that do such activities ruin their own fun. If you do, they win.

If you can come up with a way to deal with AFK/Leeches in missions, please let DE know how. Because nothing you have suggested here so far is any different from what they already do.

My personal suggestion to DE (Almost a year ago) was to have a "Damage AFK meter". Wherein a person flagged as AFK would receive damage and eventually die. Eventually this would use all their Respawns (assuming no squad mate revived them), and thus remove them from the mission. However, that idea has not been implemented to date. More than likely, because of the easy methods of avoiding AFK detecting scripts.

So we are left with reporting and continuing to play (which I usually abort the mission then report if I find said AFK/Leech). Or you can uninstall and let them win. I'll continue to have fun, thanks.

I did put an idea forward. 3 hours ago and it's not some super new concept that has never been used before.

On top of that people do get suspended for repeatedly AFK'ing and Leeching. Hell it has it own dedicated report category.

The current AFK system (yes there IS one in place) removes rewards from those that AFK for that mission. DE doesn't remove them from the current mission since missions are not on DE Servers, but on a Hosting system (the downsides to this system aside). Also, removing an AFK player physically from a mission would not help anyway, since other players can not join after a mission reaches a certain point. Usually this point would be AFTER where you would notice someone is AFKing.

Therefore, your "idea" is the same thing already in place, and gains nothing.

As a side, I would imagine that if a player is tagged as AFK to not receive rewards, that player is also logged to DE's servers as such, and repeated offenses looked into (eventually). This is just a theory on my part, but would make sense. That we would not be told of this, or aware of it, also makes sense, as DE has a strict policy of not discussing punishment of players publicly.

Which leads us back to reporting AFK/Leech and moving on.

Clans // Friends list // Recruitment channel aren't tools to combat S#&$ty people. Any game that has squads // parties // groups has to have those features for a community to thrive. They were never introduced as tools to combat AFK'ers & Leechers, even if you do see them that way, they don't do anything to stop // prevent or discourage players from that kind of behaviour.

Ignore list doesn't do anything for public groupings, they've never stopped someone joining a group if the host or any of the members have them on their block list.

A vote kick system is not and never will be a way to tackle douchebags as it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that it'll get abused to hell. (You are also the first to mention a vote kick system in this thread btw)

The only "tool" we have is submitting tickets to a woefully understaffed support team.

First, I only mentioned the kick system as a BAD idea to put it on the back burner. Not to advocate it.

Second; Then what the heck do you want? Just In-Game reporting? As I mentioned that would be handled by Support, which you agree is understaffed. Give an idea, not just a cry to "Do something!!!". Since you say what we have are not "tools", just what do you want DE to do about it?

There's already a system in place for AFKing, though easy to get around. Neither AFKing or Leeching are technically "cheating" so DE can't really punish players for it. It's bad behavior, but so is a lot of things players can do.

  4. 3 minutes ago, Joe_Barbarian said:

I totally agree with that statement.

However, there is a problem, why are we not given any tools to help combat this, methods already exist in other games to help tackle people being douchebag but DE haven't implemented anything. As of right now you can't report people in game for this kind of behaviour the only way is to screenshot it and to make a support ticket.

You HAVE been given the tools. Clans to get together like minded people. Friends Lists to expand on that with those already in other Clans. Recruitment channel. Ignore List to not have to deal with the douchbags a second time if you encounter them. Abort Mission option to get away from douchebags immediately.

A kick option is not going in, due to the abuse Trolls could use it for (ie, kicking you out of the mission, just cause...).

I agree, that an In-Game Report option would be nice, but given that DE Support is woefully understaffed, I don't think this would be a good thing right now. It would probably wind up being automated like the chat mod system, and would be more an abuse itself than any real help. I just Ignore and go on. After just a short time, you barely run into the douchebags anymore.

The tools are there. You just have to use them.

  5. Want a squad worth more than infested drool? Use Friends or Clannies.

Want a chance at a decent squad? Use Recruitment to pre-form a squad.

Want to run it all yourself with maybe some help? Run Public.

If you expect Public formed squads to EVER be worth a damn, you need to shut off the internet. Trolls/Leeches/AFKers are always going to be here and in every other multiplayer game in existence. Just like whining little snowflakes. Unfortunately, DE can't prevent humans from being douchebags. That coding doesn't exist yet, though we are all still hoping.

  6. Empyrean has been out for less than two weeks and already people have fully decked out Railjacks.

Yes, these are the "try hards" (no disrespect to those that put in that many hours, btw), but if they can do it in less than two weeks, the average player (or casual) that has put in enough time and effort to get to Railjack, should be able to farm those components within a reasonable time. I'd estimate an average of 2-3 months with 5 months the outside grind time. For those wondering where I'm getting my WAG's, I'm basing my guesstimate off of 100 hours of gameplay to get all the drops, and basing that guesstimate off of a 10 day grind of 10 hours per day. I'm sure some put in more, but I know a good two dozen that are done grinding for Railjack parts already (until DE puts in more, or changes what we have lol).

This play mode isn't for those that just jumped in the game yesterday. They can, of course, play it with others, but building up a Railjack and outfitting it is for those that want to put the time and effort into it as an "end game" content. This is a goal, not a need, people. So you can either play with others that have put in the work to get their Railjacks fully modded, or you can buck up and dig in and get it done yourself to help those that haven't yet.

  7. I'd say this will never happen for two reasons.

    1) Lag. Bad enough on Orbiters and they don't fly through 3D space (it's an illusion there people). Constantly having the system calc where all those components are would be a nightmare.

    2) Have you seen the fantastic art people make for their Dojos? How easy do you think it would be to place items to hem in boarders? The spawn points aren't that random, and once you learn them, it would be child's play to hem them in for easy slaughter. Yes, even if DE "red flagged" areas that you can't build in, players would still be able to do this. Why do I say players would be able to adapt and over come DE programmers? Because there are more players than there are Devs. Players will always win.

On a personal note, it's a combat vessel not living quarters. Form follows function. I'd be more inclined to go with custom Nose Art for the Railjacks than interior design.

  8. As the title says, this is my Opinion. Others are free to chime in with theirs, but remember, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Don't degrade others for theirs.

I love the new Skylight. Think the lighting filters need work on angles and glare, but otherwise a nice addition.

As for the rest ... I'd rather have the old models back. Especially the Incubator. The new one looks like something someone doodled while in a meeting. The new Foundry looks too much like a 3D printer. The mobile arm on the old style looked so much more high-tech. While the design of the new Mod section isn't bad, the old looked so much cleaner. Not talking about the "wear and tear", but the design.

Going on to "wear and tear": Seriously? When we can pump out weapons and warframes and archwings, we can't pump out paint? Apparently having a Domestik doesn't do much? (no, I didn't expect that bot to actually clean, but the idea is there). This may have been a nice touch when we first started playing: To have the orbiter look "old" while we added each module. Putting it in now makes this option just look trashy (not pun intended). I don't need a slider, I need an option to turn this bad idea off.

    TL:DR

The old orbiter Art was far superior to the new design.

Support told me that I would be permanently banned if something were to happen again, as if I actually cheated in the first place. I really don't want to be trapped in this spot where I can be banned at any moment for any mistake. I'm really desperate for help at this point, can someone please help?

I snipped and emboldened what I fee is the relevant part here.

The thing is you did get banned on a moment for a mistake. You left a program open that DE's algorithms deemed to be "cheating" software. Fortunately, Support actually did the correct thing and gave you an "on faith" chance. They did not have to do that. Let me repeat that: They did not have to do that. You violated their rules. Yes, by mistake, but there is no way to prove that one way or another. You could say that you did not cheat, but a lot of real cheaters test their programs first, without cheating, to see if it works. So DE has no choice but to take action when they encounter such programs.

Now you could stop using that program, though I doubt you wish to stop when it does enhance Skyrim. You could move either Skyrim and ENB to another PC, or move Warframe to another PC. Though this option is a bit costly. Lastly, you could simply ensure you close ENB prior to booting up Warframe. While the last may sound like a risk, I doubt you're going to forget after all this.

I would also look into the ENB. There may be a setting to prevent it from interfacing with Warframe (or other programs), or to only interface with Skyrim. I'm sure you could find some support from the Skyrim modding community to this end. Since modding isn't a thing here in Warframe, I'd say any help you get here will be minimal at best.

  10. People are still whining about this?

If you played the game as much as you complained on the forums, you'd have all the credits and resources already. So tired of the "I want it all now, but I don't want to do anything for it." attitudes.

Railjack is supposed to be played with others once it's out (yes, there are options for Solo, but it is MEANT to be played with friends). You also need a Clan Dojo to build the Dry Dock in the first place. So why don't you ask your Clan Mates to help you gather the resources and credits? *gasps at the novel concept of Co-Op in a Co-Op game* They can't GIVE you the resources, but they can help you farm them faster. Even mining, since they can provide cover fire while you mine in peace.

Yes, those of use that have been here long enough have built up our Clans and our personal resources. In my case, I'm a Clan of One and have done it all on my own. While holding a 40+ hrs per week job and spending time with my family (another novel concept, IKR?). So don't talk to me about it not being able to be done. It only comes down to being too lazy to do it.

  11. Aaaaand this is why DE should have made the Lich an Opt-In/Opt-Out option.

If they had, all this BS would never be. "I don't feel like doing my Lich. *Turns OFF option*" or "I feel like doing my Lich in PUB. *Turns ON option and the 'Lich Active' icon is displayed on their game portrait for other players to see. Like seeing their MR rank or which frame/aura/weapns they are bringing PRIOR to starting the mission. Like trading, if someone changes their Lich Status, then the Mission Accepts are reset and players need to Accept again. Could be used as minor 'trolling', but people would just leave that squad and continue on if a moron did that.

  12. So the crux of this is that DE gave an option to better weapons, but no one wants to put the time/effort into doing it.

You need Forma? Farm and build, or buy. As always. Don't want to spend rl money to buy plat? Trade for it. Don't want to do any of all that "work"? Whine about it some more, I'll go get the cheese.

Besides, who's going to open the slot on every weapon? That's just as dumb as opening the Exilus slot on a normal frame when you already have the Prime version. A dozen forma and you'll have most, if not all, of your GoTo weapons slotted. FFS people, use a little common sense!

  13. Addressing a few points in random order (apologies, still on first cuppa this morning).

Content Drought: There is no "content drought".

While I agree that content is slow in coming, there is an immense amount of it in game. Those here for years, myself included, may perceive a lack of content due to the time between major updates. Long time players that have completed everything are not going to be held in check long by any update. Those that complain about "lack of content being added" are really wanting an entire new game, which is a unrealistic expectation.

New players will actually be overwhelmed by the amount of content. The "grind wall" a lot of new players see is what scares them off. It's not actually a grind wall, but an immense amount of things to do that take time. Unfortunately, the new way to look at anything these days is "I want it now!".

Creator Content: Quite frankly; find what you like and forget the rest.

Many Creators on youTube just plain suck. Not everyone has what it takes, and then there's that old adage "You can't please everyone.". There are tons of good Creators out there, however, so saying that there are only a bare handful is as baseless drivel as some of the vapid youTubers that put out that misinformation and idiotic memes. Many creators use the memes and jokes and other corny aspects because today's viewers have the attention span of a brain damaged butterfly.

So find the creators that appeal to you, and then deal with all the dross left over like the rest of us do.

Critics / Feedback: I have actually stopped with this. Why? Because I have typed out long, detailed posts explaining what I felt was wrong, along with ideas on how to fix it, had many chime in with agreements and adding to the discussion only to have the entire thread removed because someone posted something against the forum rules.

The Forums are an abysmal place for Feedback. If a person tries to have an adult discussion, it soon degenerates into mud-slinging and memes. If DE truly wants feedback, then that category should only be able to be viewed by DE, not the frothing masses.

To be clear, I'm not blaming the moderators, nor their actions. Blame rests solely on those that simply post to troll, or to derail threads intentionally.

However, DE has been, and is today, intensely sensitive to criticism that paints them in a bad light. While understandable (they are human after all), I find it unprofessional. I know of three separate content creators that have been un-partnered because of it. They did so in a professional, factual manner, but were removed for "reasons".

Warframe Community: For the Community to grow, or have any actual impact, it would need a Community Manager, as well as a decent sized team dedicated to just that. No game developer does this. Some try, but all fail to allocate the proper resources to this immense undertaking. Running the game's community is actually about the same as developing the game itself. However, unlike the game, the community doesn't generate a revenue that the bean counters can see, so the corporate suits and investors won't authorize what could skyrocket their company's profits. A game loved by players, will be played by players, which will bring in revenue. Until common sense is a bullet point on corporate resumes, games will never do as well as they actually could. Not for the players, and not for the bottom line.

  14. 3 hours ago, HugintheCrow said:

It's funny, cause I can guarantee that people who fought enemies over level 100 are a super small minority as well.

The game is NOT set up to fight levels that you mention, there is not a single mission where you would see them, as noone is meant to actually stay in endless modes for that long.

That literally never happens. Perhaps you and your 3 friends did go that long once, but 99.9999...% of the playerbase never saw, and will never see such levels.

A quick search of YouTube will show you the couple hundred vids of different players hitting well past 1000. Since not every player records their play for YouTube, I'd say there's a great many that have done it. Granted, still a low percent of the population, but I'd estimate a good 15% have. Most don't on a regular basis because there's no reward for doing it. You don't get more for fighting harder enemies, so why do it? Rewards don't scale either.

  15. 9 minutes ago, (PS4)GEN-Son_17 said:

... so why would DE allocate the resources to redefine the scaling in the thousands?

    1) Because DE has already set the game to go that high.

    2) Because scaling it up to that level will scale all levels below that (if done properly). So this isn't an "end game" fix. It's an overall game fix.

    3) The people screaming about "content drought" are a vocal minority. I highly doubt those people even come close to one percent of the player base. Most long time players understand the need to get new content correct and the need to fix the base content. At least when they stop to think about it.

    4) More players leave from lack of challenge. Once players hit a certain plateau they begin to see that Warframe doesn't offer any "high level" challenges. Nothing on the Star Map even begins to put up a fight, Sorties are a joke (especially the rewards for such), and the means to get to higher level challenges (ie the Endless Missions) do indeed take hours, so are boring as hell.

So perhaps, if DE actually scaled the game for challenge, they might see more life in it. Because pumping out hollow content players can blow through within a day of release is a great way to undermine the game itself. Not to mention it stretches thin DE's resources even more, and cranks up the burnout factor of those at DE trying to add content fast enough for those screaming for it.

  16. 30 minutes ago, (PS4)GEN-Son_17 said:

That's because scaling wasn't a part of this game's MO. It wasn't designed to be like a typical game and it isn't broken AF at all. Players are attempting to force it into the game, which contradicts the design, and will eventually get added though.

For new and mid level players, your "scaling" and difficulty begins with your lack of mods and endo to level them. We vets have maxed mods and tons of endo so, regardless of the new weapon or warframe, we'll be able to tap fully into its potential much faster. You, on the other hand, wouldn't be able to deal with normal higher level enemies for a while...especially if you're brave enough to avoid any and all spoilers, including weapon damage affinity. Players tend to instantly tell the game and ruin the experience nowadays.

I'm not talking about the Dev's Level 30 "high-end content". I'm speaking of the scaling on endless missions. Once enemies hit level 1500 or so, one can see the broken scaling quite easily. By the time the levels hit 4-5k, it's ridiculous. The fact that DE had to push enemy levels that high pretty much proves how broken scaling is. As is the fact that players can still hit the 10k enemy level and keep going.

  17. 19 minutes ago, (PS4)Claudija said:

How, then does scaling actually work please?

    Short answer: It doesn't.

Longer answer: It's broken AF. The idea behind it works on paper (sorta), but when put into the game, the current system is just broke. Enemy armor scaling is ridiculous, weapon scaling is non-existant, Warframe ability scaling is a joke. When you don't have player levels (and no, frame/weapon ranks don't count), but you have enemy levels, there can never be a balance in scaling. Until, and unless, DE admits that, and works on that premise, then scaling will never work in Warframe.

  18. What we need are OPTIONS.

Manual-Block or Auto-Block selection would solve a lot of issues. I would personally rather have Manual-Block and have to use the F key to get back to my Primary/Secondary even if it included a holster time. While some don't see the use in Blocking, many of us did. Block/Parry can prevent all that one-shotting and stun-locks that people cry about if used properly.

Auto-Block also made every Shield/Melee (Arc & Brunt) weapon worthless, because their greatest benefit was the bonus granted during BLOCKING. Also, Blocking while meleeing stopped, or slowed, directional movement. This allowed to curb the animation-overuse we see on Stances now. While they look cool in practice, for actual gameplay the animations are sheet. "Hey look! You can break dance while getting shot and not be able to hit the target you were actually aiming at!". Wonderful.

As for the comments from DE that we can not equip a gun.....yeah, and the system could be well planned out and programmed correctly too.
