i really dislike the introduction of lich trading. it is avoidance of having to actually do something meaningful about the ridiculous RNG in the system.

    • why is there duplicates during the hunt for all the weapons?
    • why does the duplicates spawn with lower bonus?

these are 2 questions DE should have asked themselves and if the answer is lich trading, they should have gone back to the drawing board.

Agree. To me those are the main issues, and trading does not fix the fact that when you get a crappy weapon you have to burn a lot of time and some resources to get rid of it. One line of code is all it takes to check which kuva weapons you have already found, and if you have not found all, do not spawn a dupe.

  2. EDIT: After posting this I realized I had the "Toggle Aim" setting turned on somehow (weird since it did not used to be on). Turning it off made things alot better.

It is even worse than you highlighted. If you are running around with your melee weapon out, and you jump and hold right click to aim glide, when you land you will be walking with your primary weapon out and looking down the sights. Really slows down gameplay, and is disorienting as well.

  3. I am a Quick Melee user exclusively. Ever since I was a noob and I saw a Distant Observer video explaining that the best combo is a Polearm Quick melee attack (i.e. combo-less/no stance) I was hooked. It clears the room faster than using stances and I have full control over both my actions and the enemies. Sure a combo can do an impressive hit, but that is just one hit. While you are twirling and dancing around with combos, I will have cleared the room and moved on already. Now maybe at the 200+ level enemies a combo would be better, but I have never found a reason to fight that high, so I am referring to level 150 and under enemies. (edit: Quick melee outperforms).

I have been testing melee weapons to find a replacement for my polearm once this goes live, and the best options I have found appear to be Sword weapons. Both the single blade swords and the sword/shield weapons seem to be pretty fluid (I think I had to remove the stance mod in some cases if I remember). I swear that DE once said on stream that "most users just use quick melee anyway", so if I am correct, it seems like this will be a big problem for them once the masses find out that Quick Melee is going away.

  4. I just tested this, and something odd is going on. In simulacrum, if you turn "Pause AI" on, it crits a lot. But, if you turn it off, it only crits on the first shot, then every subsequent shot is a non crit. Same behavior was observed testing in Hydron, however, it only crit on the first enemy I shot, and none of the others. Was just a quick test, but you cannot 1 shot a 160 gunner without the crits, it takes like 5-10 shots.

  5. Things like Excavation and Survival are painful unless you are in a full group, because fewer enemies will spawn. There is no need for that in these mission types, and they should have the same number of enemies regardless of how many players you bring. This has been a problem since...forever. Hopefully you can tweak it while you are fixing the AI problems. Thanks!

Also, if I forgot any other mission types that could use this fix, please feel free to add fellow Tenno.

  6. First the build I used in testing. I ran the 3 Sorties (PC) today solo using a 0 forma build: Corrosive Projection, Transient Fortitude, Intensify, Streamline, Vitality, Fleeting Expertise (rank 4), Prime Flow and Primed Continuity. The sorties were Mobile Defense, Exterminate, and Survival. I mainly used warframe abilities instead of weapons. Ability feedback in order:

1-Enthrall: This ability actually felt very good. The fact that an enemy, once enthralled, would attack for me and attract fire (as well as convert other enemies into Thralls, and buff me apparently) made the 7 Thrall limit a non-event mainly. My main suggestion is that Enthrall should be castable while using his 4 (Danse), since you are very vulnerable while doing so. The ability was great for Mobile Defense and Survival, and situationally useful for Exterminate.

2-Mesmer Skin: This is a fantastic defense tool. Very powerful, but it is clunky in the same way that Chroma's 3 used to be. It is also his only real defense, since he has no armor, and average HP and energy. This skill should be recastable while it has charges remaining, like Chroma's 3 by default. It is too important to require a future augment for this function. A future augment could perhaps make the cast time instant, since it is very slow. My other suggestion is to make Mesmer castable while using his 4 (Danse), since you lose charges fast and cannot cancel 4 and duck into cover in time to (slowly) recast it. Thus you die alot.

3-Reave: This seems like a great skill, but I rarely used it due to energy cost that could better be spent on my 4th ability. Perhaps it should be a free or discounted energy cast while using the Danse.

4-Danse Macabre: This is a powerful skill, and I found it very useful, however I have some suggestions. First, it needs a few meters of vertical hit above your plane of sight. Many times there were packs of enemies being buffed by drones overhead, and it would not touch the drones. So I jumped to higher elevation, but that lead to another problem: enemies below you "usually" get hit, but not always. This targeting AI needs to be more forgiving in the vertical sense. Also, after using Danse, your run speed is set to walk speed, that is a bug. Energy cost was actually not so bad, since it is strong enough at Sortie level to be used situationally and still be effective, from my experience. Finally, add a targeting reticle while using Danse, to accommodate suggestion 1.

  7. They should fix the mod so that it's crit works the same way as True Steel and every other crit mod in the game, because right now it is bugged. They could then buff the crit values as part of the fix, in order to keep it still worthwhile. Also normalize the ranges of weapons somewhat (i.e. raise the range on the bottom end weapons, and lower range on top end slightly).. I do not even consider using most of my melee weapons due to crappy range, when I have polearms and whips that hit 3x further.

  8. I believe your second point is incorrect: "2) Discharge still goes through 4 seconds of no tick damage".

I do not experience this on my discharge. As soon as my discharge makes contact with enemies, it damages them. Or am I misunderstanding what you mean?

1 Power does not a whole frame make. You look at the whole package. You're missing the forest through the trees. Okay, so she can't do the 1 thing you want her to do as well as she could before. She still does a LOT of other things just fine if not better than some.

Plus, if you're not constantly casting her #4 to refresh her 2, and then using 1 to get damage for her 2, then casting 4 again... repeated ad nauseum, you're not playing her to her full potential anyways.

That second part will be nerfed no doubt, then what are you left with? Damage reduction.

  10. Sounds like it's my issue, and that is ok. I just tried to solo the Sortie 3 with Ambulas, and only got 3/4, so I joined a group and failed even worse. But it was fun! The next group I joined, we crushed it, and it felt like a victory. To me, that is the essence of Warframe. I don't get the same enjoyment from finding a cache in the weeds, or a carp in the pond. To each their own, I am off to level my Wukong!

  11. *Update to original post*

Because this post is still on the first page, I thought I should update my thoughts on the Plains. I have been playing many Plains bounties lately, both solo and in a random group. Also I hit the Plaguewing event missions hard, and it was a fun time. Here are my new thoughts on the expansion:

-My original post is still true to some degree. I find the cache quest is easy in a group (outside of a recent bug that will be likely hotfixed), and it can still be a pain solo. However, there is a learning curve to it as you figure out common placements, and you can indeed find them easily after a bit of practice. So I do see it as a valid quest, but there are cache placement bugs that need fixing. Other additions to original post:

-Archwing launchers should be unlimited charges, or else make the fishing parts drop from enemies or quests i.e. not require fishing.

-Quills rep should be attainable in a similar fashion to the original faction system. Wear a sigil and gain it passively as you kill Plains enemies.

-Give us an exit screen after the last bounty is completed, similar to normal missions. It drives people mad when the host leaves, causing the rest of the group to lose things.

-Day/Night and bounty reset timer on the Plains when you look at it in the starmap.

-Double the daily Ostron bounty cap, so us weekend warriors can power farm Ostron rep.

The Plains is very cool, but it needs much fine tuning still with the quality of life stuff.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First off, I like a lot of the things DE added. The outdoor zone looks great and is a nice change. The problem is that I have consistently had a bad experience in the Plains expansion, and inevitably exit frustrated and vowing to never return. I like the bounty system, but they either fail or include a "find the needle in the haystack while being shot by 50 enemies while a timer runs down" cache quest. I just exit the game when I get that mission. I find this mission unreasonable and unfun as a solo player.

So then I contemplate hunting down the new resources, except they require fishing or mining. I do not want to fish or mine. I want to blow $hit up. So I exit the Plains.

I am MR 19 almost now, I love Warframe and have spent money on the game, but I feel like this expansion has left me behind. I will continue playing the older content and having fun, but I fear DE will make the Plains stuff mandatory going forward by adding cool rewards. I do not want to be forced into fishing or mining or running bad bounties like the one mentioned above.

    So my suggestions:

-Remove the "find the 3 caches" quest or remove the timer on it.

-Add fishing/mining resources to other areas of the game, Give us alternative ways to earn them. Perhaps as drops from Plains enemies or something.

Those simple changes would get me back into the plains. And please, going forward keep the solo player in mind. I like to group, but do not make it mandatory.

  12. Agree with OP. I just abandon these missions when I get them. Remove the timer at the very least. Make the Caches larger or glow a bit. It is just bad game play right now trying to find a needle in a haystack solo with guys at shooting you. Will try animal instinct, but half the time my tanky Carrier prime is dead on the tougher missions.
