I think the point also includes all the people around buying in to that concept. That everyone is pretending to see the fine clothes because no one wants to call it out and possibly reveal themselves a fool. So sort of a peer pressure type thing of people acting foolish to fit in.

I can't say for sure if this works for the circuit too, but I know in the experience while if you leave/fail out that it will give you a blank reward screen like that, but if you check your inventory the stuff is there (at least the marrow and cinta parts that I knew what I had before hand) I feel like there's an issue at the moment where the rewards get saved at certain points, but if you drop out or fail, it only uses the info from the failed round. But like I said, haven't checked on the circuit, so don't know if it's the same way.

There's some other bits of dialogue like that you can find, I ran into a boy and girl in a cave who had a poem that started with something like There's a man in a wall with a (face/grin) like a skull I only ran into it once and forget the exact lines, and there were another couple of lines after those two.
