Anthem is a full fledged game though. Not even DE expects railjack on it's own to compare to something like Anthem.

Is that really the bar people are setting for DE? How can they ever win? Did people really expect a AAA game that had the nemesis system as its main drawing point to be fully recreated in Warframe?? Is that why people are disappointed?

No, but I do expect 7 years of experience to help deliver a far more complete and polished result than what RJ ended up being.

Also remember, the question is the OP was “if it was a standalone game, what would you pay?” My answer is, “it’s not nearly substantial enough to stand alone, but if someone released it like it is, then I would not be willing to pay for it.”

(As for the Anthem comparison—it was alluding to the hollowness of the experience, not the breadth of the game - I was an early tester for it, and it was real obvious it was a nonstarter).

    Yeah, autocorrect butchered that

As a new game, the comparison isn't a bad one. That said, I didn't think much of Warframe on release. I was about to uninstall the game before they released the liset.

All I'm saying is that railjack isn't really that bad compared to early Warframe. Railjack is in an early state. If railjack released with the frames, weapons, etc.... It wouldn't be a bad EA game.

It's not fair to compare railjack to a full-blown space sim. It was never meant to be that. It's pretty much just a vehicle to get us to more tried and true Warframe gameplay.

Oof, a good EA game. Personally, if you put Railjack as an experience against Anthem, I’d have given my money to Anthem. Railjack is (to me) pretty hollow—and since the OP asked how we’d view it as a stand-alone game, well, that’s my answer.

What do you have to step from railjack for you to say it couldn't stand alone.

The frames, their weapons and combat? Because if you leave those things in, railjack is about as good as Warframe on launch minus few bosses.

If you strip those things, then that's like asking "would you buy spy as its own spy game?" I don't see how that's a valid criticism.

I have no idea what you’re asking here. I think autocorrect messed something up in your post.

If I understand right, though, you’re comparing RJ to Warframe’s state 7 years ago and arguing that’s a good thing.

Unfortunately, that argument doesn’t do RJ or DE any favors.

  4. Boredom is definitely a key component for me. For anyone who plays grinders and looter-shooters you know going in that you're going to be doing a lot of the same thing, but eventualy - with any of the games - you will run out of patience for it.

Warframe is repetitive, yes--it's the nature of the beast. But Warframe's repetition is pretty next-level, because Warframe's grind-style is RNG-controlled "maybe I'll get it," and the missions are so, so short and trivial. When the newest release is repeating the exact-same 4-minute mission hundreds or even thousands of times, until you luck into the Good Thing, it's hard to sustain enthusiasm. I mean, I've put a couple thousand hours in, but I just can't anymore.

The game needs a paradigm shift, which is tough, because it would make it Not Warframe.

    Why did they do this?

The ground crew have to deal with a female chest ripping her heart open to spawn sentient footsoldiers while the space crew have to penetrate a massive crimson vagina...

    Just... why?

I hope the next content features a massive male butt or hopefully phallic. Y'no, just to even the score. 😛

It's the Warframe aesthetic - tits and bits. Hell, they even have an Ayatan sculpture called "PIV."

  6. Nail in the coffin is a high bar to meet: it would have to be a lot worse than what have been pretty par-for-the-course DE releases (i.e., buggy and insanely grindy).

If they just stopped releasing or updating anything that would be the sign that it was over. Otherwise, Warframe can idle along probably forever on prime releases and new guns and cosmetics. There will always be players available to purchase new things.

I don't know mate, people ITT openly admitted that they got filtered by Dark Souls, which is objectively an easy game

Never played it, so I can’t comment on that. The point is: Warframe is a particular game, and  will need its own definition of difficulty — or It will become a different game.

Like, what the OP posted? Killing monsters in different “shells?” That isn’t Warframe. We do that in every class-based game.

So the challenge remains (not addressing you in particular)—everyone who wants “difficulty” needs to outline a) exactly what that comprises, and b) how much of Warframe’s identity they’re willing to sacrifice to get it.

  8. Define “difficulty.” Be explicit and detailed.

Is difficulty complex mechanics requiring a coordinated team?

    Is it tactically challenging opponents?

    Is it bullet-sponges, or bullet-hell?

Is it weak heroes trying to devise clever ways to defeat powerful enemies?

    Details!

And once done, try to figure out how the identity of Warframe Is preserved once implemented.

I think someone wants it because of Titania sucking up things like energy orbs or life support cappsules when they aren’t needed/would be used less efficiently. Although the question is exactly how necessary is it to micro manage your pickups that badly? Personally I think it’s pretty silly and at least should have been a secondary augment shipped along side a real one.

People sometimes claim vacuum messes up their ability to manage their drops and decide when to pick up an ammo box or an energy orb because they don’t want to waste 6 points of energy or 5 rounds of ammo or some such nonsense.

I have never, and will never, believe any player making that argument. Warframe doesn’t work at that pace and we all know it.

  10. I’ve reached the point where I’d rather have grind be doing a once-per-day or once-per-week activity where I’m guaranteed to come away with something I find valuable, rather than Warframe’s “this mission will take 3 minutes but you’ll do it ten thousand times in a month” approach.

I simply can’t do the same thing on rapid repeat as much as they want me to. I don’t have it left in me to play their way.

But again, have your initial thoughts changed about Ivara’s Skathi skin now, after its official release?

My opinion hasn't changed - it's an attractive skin that does not make me think of Ivara at all. That's a step ahead of the Prime skin, which is an unattractive skin* that does not make me think of Ivara at all.

    * IMO, results may vary, consult your doctor to see if you're healthy enough for opinion activity.

In other words, it's not that DE changed, it's parts of the community ran out of good will and DE keep being DE did not help ease the fall out.

Your speculation about streamers...I doubt. But your last paragraph, I can buy.

DE is being DE, but many of us have finally just run out of patience. Perhaps DE kept being DE too many times in too short a period.

    Was hardly a lie.

Cant hold them to assumptions you made based on early development versions. Only thing we havent seen is a lich in a rj objective.

    But to answer you,

A crapload of entirely new systems and mechanica (though not necessarily gameplay).

I shouldnt need to explain that. Just look at how many things youve never seen before.

Gotta be careful with that, though. It’s new and different but is it useful and good? Does it actually add anything?
