If their balance guy hasn't learned how to balance the rewards to within an order of magnitude after seven years on the job, I would suggest hiring someone else instead who is capable of learning.

Definitely—and the fact that many players here on the forums can (For exame) look at a grindy event and say “it’s not right, it should be X rewards for Y time, here’s the math behind that” is driving a wave of frustration that’s a little more pronounce now because it’s been a string of badly designed/balanced grind on the heels of badly designed/balanced grind.

People are losing trust and sometimes just walking away because we are not infinitely patient and we’re getting tired of DE acting like they need to re-learn this stuff yet again

Like too many players, you try to found the fault on DE's side only.

Why do we have non polished updates since few months? Why the community is so angry?

The question is : why DE suddenly started to push lots of updates, one after the other, whereas before they needed months to deliver new content?

It might have something to do with the community complains about content drought?

This community do not realise how bad they are hurting this game since few months.

DE made the mistake to try to please eternal dissatisfied kids because their biggest fear is to see their players stop playing the game. DE can not sustain such a production rate. They tried but they can't.

The best thing they have to do is stop listening to this community and start doing things as they did before.

Sadely, you will never see this community admit that they have their share of responsibility on this situation.

Sure, I agree community pressure is a problem for them, and there are players who will never be satisfied (or are only satisfied when they get to tear DE a new one).

Just like in every other game.

However, when you don't enjoy the game (or the direction it's taking), the appropriate response is to provide feedback. If the problems persist, then the appropriate response is to stop giving them your money and attention. If DE lives and dies on daily logins, maybe they'll pull their sh*t together. If so, great. If not, how sad.

But DE's failure to keep players engaged is not the players' problem. We are not all in this together: they are literally the experts on making Warframe content and they are a long-standing live-service game dev. We're under no obligation to make their excuses for them.

Complete besides your point, but I actually never got a bad reward from a lich. I'm just lucky like that. I also had a blast on my first Lich (the rest got progressively less interesting until I started experimenting with builds for really weak frames to be able to defeat their lich). Oh wait, I did absolutely suffer through getting requiem mods before larvlings gave those like candy. Dark times those were (specially the "guaranteed" chance from floods...)...

In my opinion — looking at the recent update picture kind of as a whole — liches turned out to be the best and most rewarding update of the set.

    That’s not exactly a compliment.

  4. Personally, I’ve grown tired of it seeming like they’re just hurling S#&$ at the wall to see what sticks.

On top of what seems like pretty regular failure to even attempt to put some rigor behind the math of the grind, it’s also clear that there’s nobody who can say “no” to the worst excesses of the people (or really one person) at the top, and try to enforce some sensible vision for the game.

For example, I recognize that Railjack is supposedly “the original vision” but that’s what I mean: sometimes you should go make a different game instead of forcing your personal wishlist in badly.

I’ve been on this ride before. It was fun, but now it’s over.

  5. In their place, with the digital-only shift and the recent issues they’ve had, I’d pick one thing, and show a deep dive highlighting everything in it. Show complete work (in the sense that it’s not trailers but substantial gameplay, rewards, etc) and discuss how they’ve changed their approach to grind, design, and dev, like they say they’re going to.

No teasers. It’s time to show their work and get the right answer.

You expected to get a one or two fully-ranked Arcaned from a SINGLE 17-wave run of the ground mission? Talk about entitled.

In fact, people did. There was a thread on it, and based on then-current display conventions for vendor-sold arcanes, comments by devs about cost tuning and how it was not intended to be a big grind, and mission rewards/time vs cost information gleaned from the devstream, it was not an entirely unreasonable assumption.

I didn't notice it being too difficult but if people where having trouble I don't see a point in not changing it.... not like I'm going to notice anyhow.

This is a good point - @_Euphoria_, if it wasn't a problem for you at first, then it's still not going to be a problem when the difficulty is slightly reduced...so what the issue?

Pretty much every single enhancement/mod vendor in the game does this if you actually pay attention. In fact, the only thing that doesn't (iirc), Riven mods, still have an option to view them at full rank (regardless of current rank) when rerolling them.

The ironic exception to that rule was arcanes -- from vendors, at least, they used to display as Rank 0 visually. It was a tooltip issue that prompted DE to change that when Scarlet Spear dropped.

  9. The patch notes indicate that the arcanes will be unranked, but they'll display as fully ranked, to prevent some sort of bug/visual thing.

There was some discussion prior to the update about whether they'd be Rank 5, but it turns out they're Rank 0 (kind of like how mods are always displayed fully ranked, but when you buy them, they're unranked).

    Edit: here's the quote --

    Quote

Arcanes that are sold in Vendor Offerings will now only show Max Rank tooltip information, and UI indication that the Arcane you’re purchasing is Unranked.

    • This fixes Arcane tooltips expanding off screen when viewed in Vendor Offerings.

  10. Your choice is, wait for them to add it and then grind, or grind now in the hopes you earn enough points to eventually buy them.

Although it's sorta odd for them to restrict 'em. The most anyone can use personally would be 42; having tons of extras would just crash plat prices so it's not like you'd be somehow making a killing if you found a bug that let you buy 1,000 Arcane Energizes. Of course, DE is hoping for that juicy arcane trade to keep rolling.

you are aware that bugs happen in every game, program, and bit of computer code,. once again i will point out it is very early in the operation it is supposed to last a month after all and it only came out today. everyone just needs to relax and take a chill pill or something.

Wait, what? I had no idea.

    Quote

it happens it has been happening since the start if the video game it does not matter where or who or what part of the program, it happens. there is also a balancing aspect to things the players frequently out pace DE's intended pace of accumulation of things due to the simple fact that there are literally millions of us and we think of things they don't  so perhaps they were a bit Conservative to see where the players will take things before ramping things up. everyone just needs to relax and take a chill pill or something.

In fairness, we do tend to give DE tons of runway to careen down. On the heels of liches and railjack, busted grind again is not a great look.

    really?

    Yes there is.

In one case, it might not get fixed. In the other, it almost certainly will.

It's a buggy mess, and the communication about the scoring is horrible (why is it only in a forum post? why is it hidden in a spoiler box?), but everyone needs to chill the #*!% out.

Yes, really. If there was one thing DE needed to make sure absolutely worked from the start—was ironclad bug free—it was delivering the correct amount of points so that people recognized that they weren’t just pissing away their time before saying “hell with this, I’ll find something else to do.”

Like the fundamental mechanic is “Do mission, get points,” and they’ve apparently messed up that part through bugs and messaging confusion. Without it working correctly, it doesn’t matter if it was intentional or accidental, it lands them right in another “DE lives to screw us with the grind” scenario.

The intended rewards really aren't too low. The update is just a buggy mess right now and it's not giving them out correctly.

There’s no real distinction between buggy and badly designed if the bugs aren’t immediately fixed—and by immediately, I mean like “within the next 30 seconds.”

Murex runs being the Railjack ones? Yeah, except thanks to DE's bad launch, lack of the Command Intrinsic we were promised, and the need for Archwing..... Railjack is easily one of the least loved parts of the game. So forcing the Railjack HALF of the operation to get good rewards isn't acceptable whatsoever.

But given that Railjack May not be the massive hit that DE expected, it’s kinda unsurprising they’re adding a carrot specifically to the Railjack side.

(Assuming Railjack isn’t, in fact, that popular. It’s not popular with me, but that’s just anecdote.)

  15. When it was 6 million creds, I might have been interested in "delete for refund." However, the reduced cost patch gave me about 5 mil back anyway plus other junk and eh.

If you haven't finished it, stop now. If you have finished it, stop using it. 's what I did. You can almost always find someone else's railjack to ride along in if you get the itch.

Sure its not the best way to make it more challenging but do u really think it is cooler to have level 200 enemies 10 or 20 times weaker than before the update? I'm not sure if u either think an exponential scaling is not THE BEST way or not a.GOOD way. Because if u think its not a GOOD way then I really cant understand u at all. Id rather fight bullet spongy bombards after 90min than fight bombards that die after 2 hits after 90min.

That’s the issue for me — I’m not doing anything different for those sponge-Bombards than for the 2-shot Bombards. They’re effectively identical, since I’d build to kill the spongiest enemy I can.

Fun addition? Maybe but what will the incentive to do it? I would be cruel and start making exclusive drops on many places (Heat/radiation zaw parts from profit-taker, maybe?) and I would see so many players marching to crucify me

Would you like me just to say "it was a bad idea, sorry?" I can do that if it helps.

  18. 2 minutes ago, 844448 said:

And unfortunately that "if you don't do that specific mission, you don't get that specific thing" also means you pay or you get nothing, and quite sure people dislike that mission exclusive drops because reasons (even there are people complain because arcane is only from eidolon so what can I say?)

Well, in Destiny, yes, you pay for that content. The whole model is different there.

Of course as you say, this community does not favor exclusivity, or having to do a particular thing to get a particular thing, pretty much at all (hell, I'm sure I've complained about it as well). Still, Destiny was the first multi-player loot-type game I ever played; with that as a training ground it seems normal to me for loot to be exclusive to activities. And dungeons/mini-raids/whatever were just something I think would be a fun addition to this game.

  19. 5 minutes ago, 844448 said:

So, more exclusive drops like conclave skins, arbitration mods and arcane, and such?

Like, you do the mission, you get one of those drops. Maybe you get the "special mission ephemera."

    So, uh, yes?

The question suggests that it's a bad thing, and maybe it is (or I'm inferring tone where there is none). Coming up on Destiny, though, I have always thought that "if you don't do that specific mission, you don't get that specific thing" was a perfectly appropriate loot structure.

    I agree.

We're fighting because we are genocidal children whose first instinct is to kill everything we come across. We kill and we kill and our characters never ask themselves any questions.

DE has done a pretty poor job of world building to make the players aware if there are any stakes. I think it's the game I have the least connection with. I can never recall any of the quests I play (and I did many of them more than one when I switched platforms). When people talk about some characters I don't always know who they are or any of the lore behind them.

Same. There's no hook keeping me in, and I don't identify or feel for the characters. It's fun to play, for a while, but it doesn't draw me in with story or connections.

  21. Like @bad4youLT, as a former Destiny player I would love to see something like the Shattered Throne concept show up in Warframe. A clever, fun, repeatable, lengthy mission in a unique environment with that-mission-only drops, and it's own lore and narrations. Edit: yes, that also describes raids, but in this case, it would be a raid doable by a standard squad size. Not a double-size raid, just the usual team size.

I personally think Bungie ought to have dropped raids entirely and focused on that model and just flooded the game with dungeons (I don't know if Bungie ever added any more of them, but Shattered Throne was a hoot).

As far as play goes, they're so different. Warframe definitely spoils people on freedom of movement and speed, though. No debate there.

That's not new and have nothing with the changes. I still don't know how is it a problem that you have to press WASD or space in this game.

Mostly because I didn't have to before, for that action, and the reflexive keypress habit just wasn't forming (literally, I'd just stare at the frame like "You get up now, right?").

So I just use Handspring now.
