  1. It’s been a while since I last posted this concept. Been trying to wait for Arch111 to finish the 3D model he said he would make of it but it’s been like a year since then. So I’ll just post my original drawing without additional details to allow for wider imagination and the 2 images after it is from Arch111 who decided to give his idea of how it would look as an actual frame. And I won’t lie, his concept is a lot more accurate to how Warframes are designed.

    ojlL45v.jpgsZA1Sa7.pngTa5vXxK.png

Apologies for the unfinished model, hopefully y’all have enough imagination to put 2 and 2 together. I can only hope nothing bad happened to Arch111 to be gone so long. Last model he did only took him like 1-3 months. When he came back before he said he was busy doing other things but provided the finished model for another’s concept.

As for his story, I pictured Perses(the name I’m going with until changed) being an executioner in his past life. He forged his very own axe that he wields. After being turned into a Warframe he became the executioner of the orokin. But he had some very serious anger management problems, always flying off in a violent rage.

The quest I had in mind was if he was released in the Plain of Eidolon so that it would be a perfect 3 count like Orb Vallis. His story was originally he sacrificed himself to stop a raging volcano from destroying Cetus. Unknown to others was that he was basically frozen in hibernation within the volcano. Vay Hek discovered him and tried to use him as a power source for a large machine that would basically be the mother of all Thumpers. Requiring players to take out its defense systems and weaken it in order to infiltrate and sabotage it from inside. Once inside you make your way through grineer to reach the power room where you encounter a new more brutish grineer. One who believes guns make you weak so he uses the Kurrodu sparring melee instead. He has 3 bars of health and each one changes how he fights. 3 bars, he fights more like a martial artist. 2 bars, he fights more like a boxer as his life support systems have been damaged and his stamina is low. 1 bar, leaves him sluggish and goes on a rampage using more slamming, smashing, and back breaking moves. Once defeated, the animation shows him smacked into the container that leaves a crack. As he goes to stand back up, a molten hand bursts out and grabs his face, burning it till he collapse. That’s when a molten figure bursts out the giant tube and forges a large hammer axe that crushes the grineer’s skull. Which he then stomps the ground which makes the hammer axe shoot up and land over his shoulder like in the first original pic.

The story of the grineer is simply that ge was a rare mutation that caused him to a bit larger and bulkier than most grineer. He believed strength is more important and hates how grineer rely too much on guns and cybernetics to fight. Believing that has made the grineer weak and vulnerable. He got a bit too arrogant and tried to over throw Ruk who burned him to near death. When he woke up he was in a life support like armor. Not only did it enhance his strength some but it keeps him alive. Any time he looks at his reflection he is not only enraged and disgusted by what he sees, but he constantly reminded of the sins of his arrogance when he sees the burned half of his face. After completing the quest, slightly inferior clones of him are made who sometimes show up in grineer sabotage missions when the objective is completed. They appear by the extraction and leave a barrier that can’t be broken so long as they are alive. I’m not super great at drawing so I can’t provide any art to show how this grineer would look. All I can say is picture something like Bane from Dark Knight but with bulky grineer armor and a half burned face.

As for stats, I picture him having a lot of armor and health, and be a little on the slow side. Hard to decide on numbers so that would left up for DE to decide if they ever take this concept into consideration.

As for his abilities, my concept is based around maximizing close range melee use.

Passive: has increased parkour and bullet jump causes a blast effect. Has a thermometer that increases the more damage he takes and enemies he kills. When it reaches 100% nearby enemies are inflicted with fire status.

First Ability - launches a molten rock from his vents that deals blast damage. During his fourth ability Rage mode he is able to launch twice as many/twice as fast.

Second Ability - creates an obsidian armor that slows his movement but also protects him from knock backs, reduces damage to his vital spots, and increases the weight of his swings to knock back enemies. During Fourth ability rage mode, his speed doesn’t change and walking on downed or buried enemies inflicts mercy damage.

Third Ability - smashes the ground to create cracks that buries enemies. Repeat causes the cracks to close and damage the enemies who were stuck before shooting them back out the ground. During fourth ability, he causes lava to spill from the cracks that burns the enemies. Those who got buried have their armor reduced and eventually  stripped. Cast a second time then lava will shoot out the ground inflicting fire damage to nearby enemies. Buried enemies can also receive mercy.

Fourth Ability - when the thermostat reaches 100%, cast to go into an active raging volcano mode. Lava starts dripping from his body while his vents shoot out flames. Combined with Second Ability, his appearance resembles the first original pic above. During this state his melees deal massive increase in fire and blast damage depending on which weapon he is holding. Hammers, sparring, staffs, and fist type melees do blast while the rest do fire. His signature weapon does both as he can switch between hammer and axe. Thermostat drains the longer he is in that state and cancels at 0%. Cast ability again, he deal blast damage to all nearby enemies and his thermostat reduces to 0%.

This is roughly what I picture. The actual numbers are hard to decide as DE isn’t gonna want it too OP nor would we want him too weak. So again I leave those numbers for DE to decide if they were to ever consider the concept. But this just my version. Feel free to suggest alternative appearances and abilities not just for me to consider but for DE to consider.

This will be system to allow all frames to achieve umbra functionality and give every frame new lore and stories, to earn the cortex you would go to the leverian and undergo a quest designed for the frame that will expand it's story and lore.

Upon completion will reward you with the cortex of the original umbra varient of your frame giving it new purpose and existence instead of eternal nothingness in the shell of a broken frame.

New umbra cortexes for that frame can be purchased from the frames spot in the leverian for resources or currency

The original reasoning for giving us non-pc players Excalibur Umbra was not only due to the Chinese inventing it as their Excalibur Prime exclusive, but so that we aren’t stuck without a superior alternative to Excalibur. Which triggered the narcissists as they don’t feel as coveted about their prime.

Then when DE talked about making new umbras, mainly for the vanilla frames, the first ones in the game when it’s console release happened, many people expressed opposition and understandably so.

For starters, doing so would make Umbra not be so unique, it would send many back to coveting Excalibur prime as a collection issue, and it would create an endless cycle of people demanding an umbra variant of their favorite frames which would lead to DE creating 50+ umbra variances of not just frames but at least one of their signature weapons. Having 3 different variances of the same frame 50+ times over is ridiculous and kind of wasteful. People want more lore, more missions/objectives, and a lot more bug fixes.

Honestly I feel Umbra should be treated as a prime in the void, but that could be explained that he went rogue so the orokin death orb security doesn’t recognize him. But having that uniqueness limited only to the void is kind of lame considering how unpopular the void is. I’ve tried suggesting they make the void more popular mainly by adding more mission types, and by making Vor a boss. Lore wise basically the grineer managed to bring him back from the void leading to many more fissures happening. Creating something similar to Void Flood missions where we need to seal the fissures.

But back to Umbra, I try to imagine each frame with some sort of origin story. So part of me pictures the Tenno finding a way to restore the memories of their frames. Which gives them the ability to move more freely on their own. If used on Umbra, he is given something more unique, something more related to his Dax origin.

But for something like that to even occur requires adventuring more into the Tenno’s past. How they and the frames came to be. I even pictured a grineer styled frame with an origin that he was created to be the perfect war machine, but he got heavily injured in the war with the grineer. They found his damaged body and not only upgraded him with their own technology, but they manipulated his mind into believing the Tenno were responsible.

Basically I’m picturing more quests and such that causes us to fight the frames, not just randomly find their parts or hear some fairy tale story that turns out to be real. And many different scenarios leads us to gain their blueprints but we must find their parts. Kind of like how Umbra was blown to bits but we were able to clone him and his memories. The parts of the frames would be like when we had to scan for the remains of umbra. At least that’s the logic behind why we end up completing missions to find their parts. Umbra was more direct.

And as part of that, I picture them all having back stories that we end up exploring. The cloning is incomplete and requires us using the “Umbra Cortex” concept of retrieving their memories. Maybe umbra himself was the key to figuring out how to unlock their memories. But due to how deep it goes, the Tenno needs a special device to assist them which is complex and only allows a 1 time use each, require farming for them.

And knowing DE, if they did decide to go along with the idea, they would make such a thing rare, about as rare as an umbra forma which would no doubt tick off impatient players. If DE made everything easy to get, the game would get too boring too quickly. Some people get bored repeating the same missions over and over, but others find it a challenge and somewhat addicting. Therefor making it easy would cause more players to stop playing vs making it take longer.

Either way the concept of making more umbra frames appears to be a no go. But the idea of making them able to move more freely does appears to still be somewhat on the table. Would be nice, considering the end of the stalker quest had the Warframe break the War blade despite the Tenno only being linked from a far distance. The Warframe even carried the Tenno which others claim the Tenno was basically multitasking which is hard to believing considering the rest of the lore.

    But that’s just my opinion.

Since the difter only has the sircrro animation, I designed the sircrro equivalent of the operator's amp parts3Z4VwnTgGIqi.jpg?o=1

Honestly I keep picturing a void rifle for the drifter/operator. Giving the operator stealth kill animations with the melees. That sort of thing. Makes me picture a scenario where we lose our Warframe in the middle of a mission and have to go find it using just our operator/Drifter.

Originally I pictured an infested assassin that can leave an infested boil in your frame that causes you to get pushed out and in order to retrieve your frame, you have to shoot the boil off. If you fail and the assassin leaves, then you would be forced to do an infested mission searching for your now stolen frame where you must locate and destroy the infested boil off your frame which will allow you to use transference.

And part of that concept involves giving the operators additional weapons in the shape of a void rifle, pistol, and melee for them to use. I even pictured a sentient style melee that allows the operators to channel void energy into the blade area to inflict void damage melee attacks. Basically picture a blade that has a constant steady stream of void energy spilling out. If you’re low on void energy, it would be like wacking the enemy with a stick or pole.

While the Void Rifle works similar to the amp/pistol that assists with fire void energy at a greater distance. Could maybe make a build that channels all the void energy you have into a single bullet to be a void sniper. Stuff like that.

I was inspired by the various fan frame concepts on display here and wanted to give a shot at contributing by making one. So first and foremost, I want to thank the artists both at Digital Extremes and the fantastic community. The idea is to have him have an emphasis on D.O.T. with a passive that gives you energy efficiency and buffs based on kills you garner using status.

    TNS8cty.png

I apologize if there's some failing in the design. Warframe's artstyle is fairly difficult for me to emulate.

The art is all original. There's also a mish mash if other influences in there as well, I tried to incorporate elements of both Pacific Islander and Aztec culture, as well as a little bit of Zelda influence, as well as Numetal. I've heard people call it "overdesigned" but I tried to play a little off Garuda and I'd argue that the visual style of Warframe as I understand it, is fairly overdesigned. Using Keith Thompson's work as a reference made me feel I was lacking.

The four tattoos are impermanent placeholders for the tattoos he'd have on his arm, which he shoots out to spread their respective statuses. Spreading status on enemies then opens options with his subsequent abilities that are afflicted with his first ability. Which has the working name: Avatar's Affliction.

I tried to play mostly with the idea of blood sacrifices as his passive to give him his identity as a Warlock. The indicator on the right is meant to give you two benefits.

    1) It raises when you accumulate kills using the specific DOT status types. Filling certain tiers of the meter would give you bonuses like more bleed status or damage reduction.

    2) When you cast an ability, a portion of the energy cost is reduced by the resource in the indicator to save you efficiency on casting.

I also tried to show the higher the meter is raised, his tattoos could glow as a secondary indicator.

    2KCxJD6.pngfcVhOnt.jpeg

The indicator is also meant to give you a kind of feedback loop so you never really have to fixate on managing it. The more you use your ability to spread status and DOT kills/ticks, the more you're gonna end up refilling it.

Ideas for his second ability, canvas of flesh, is to expedite 10 procs of any enemy hit by the status from his first ability. The point of impact on that enemy will then generate a field that gives you more crit chance.

His 3rd, ritual reinforcement, gives you some percentage of armor based on status afflicted enemies within reasonable range.

I'm honestly kind of stumped on his 4th ability. Feedback on the initial pitch of the idea had someone suggest that he summons the God he worships to as it flies out of the tattoo on his chest. Which is why their are two dragons on there.

What I'm sure of with his 4 is that I want it to act as a grouping tool that is strengthend by the current amount you have in the indicator. Like building up status kills to boost your final attack in one big burst. And the grouped up enemies are now easier to spread status on and refill your meter.

I wanted the kit to be more practical than stylish, and give you opportunities to exploit relationships in modding and arcane use. A player might choose to double dip the crit chance on his 2 by using avenger and Blind Rage. Or make him super spammy by building him for efficiency due to the passive's split in both energy and kills. A third option could be making him really tanky using grace and Guardian plus adaptation to synergize with his 3, then equip a rage/hunter adrenaline for as much energy as damage you can eat.  I was just trying to find opportunities for player expression in ways that every build for him is unique. Something that could preform at high levels and feels kind of like a more versatile Lavos, that trades in the access to EVERY status for a few for more tools to play with.

    Color alt testing:

    3mFfHFj.jpegdpjcM7e.jpegaah2saC.pngIbzofBx.pngJbOYJQW.png

Got me thinking about that Aztec theme someone mentioned and this drawing makes me think of Kotal Kahn of mortal kombat.

For the art, it looks pretty close to the original arts of many frames before their official 3D design so I can’t say it’s terrible. Warframes for the most part just look like Knights with more skin tight armor if that makes sense. Almost like if they were wearing leather shaped like less bulky armor for their entire bodies. If you can draw an alligator, or salamander, basically do that but with no scales for the details. But right now the drawings make me picture Kotal Kahn and Predator. Which both give off some Aztec like vibes.

The abilities and his appearance is making me picture some crazy OP ideas. Making me picture something crazy like the more puncture, slash, or impact status he inflicts builds up towards an ability for him to use. Different elemental status effects builds up another bar that allows him to use another ability. Each of those abilities are based on the statuses he inflicted upon his enemies to determine the effects they will have for both enemies and allies. There’s just too many to choose from.

The tattoo concept is making me picture him with 7-8 tattoos, each representing the status build up. Like he has a fire symbol on his right arm and an Ice symbol on his left. He has a symbol for toxic on his right leg and electricity on his right leg. He has a symbol that covers both the right chest ribs and shoulder blade and same for the left that represents slash and puncture. Finally he has markings on his head for the impact status. They glow a certain amount based on percentage of 25%, 50%, 75%, then 100%. Abilities used for said status will cause it to reduce to 0%. But you can switch to a different element for the casting.

For the potential 8th tattoo, that’s based on the amount of bleeding/kills that build up that goes towards his Fourth ability. And the tattoo is basically lines that travel throughout his body almost like a vascular system connecting to the center of his chest/back.

His back story makes me think of someone who acted like a mixture between a torturer/integrator and an executioner. And he performed these rituals as part of his method making him a bit too religious for Ballas to tolerate.

Making picture his passive having said status added to his weapons. They don’t merge to make corrosive or radiation. They just gain the 4 elemental and physical damage, albeit small depending on power strength, and increase in status chance based on percentage gained which makes building up the status bars much easier and faster, plus helps him do more damage. Automatically his passive increases status chance for physical status.

I picture his first ability being able to summon elemental totems that causes different status effects towards nearby enemies. Can summon only up to 4. Summoning the same totem 4 times near each other will cause them to merge into a larger one with increased range and by the fourth cast, it will cause enemies to be drawn to it to destroy.

His second Ability is affected by the status build up which is also determined by which totem you have activated for your first ability. If you press and hold to switch the totem to the ice element for your first ability, it affects the second ability as well. The ability affects the stats of the Warframe in the sort of opposite effect it has on enemies. Ex. toxic regenerates health, frost boosts armor, electricity increases parkour, and fire makes him resistant to knock backs. All 4 can be used if all 4 element bars are filled at least to 25%.

His Third Ability gets a bit more ritualistic as he summons a high damaging physical status totem that either sprout spikes, blades, or sort of hammer like heads while pulling enemies towards it. The moment enemies are inflicted with the physical status, it creates a sort blood pool that pulls them even faster towards the totem. Standing near the totem builds your blood bar faster.

His Fourth is affect by the third ability totem and when activated he basically increases the physical damage and status chance of his melees by a lot. If no melee is equipped, he will summon a melee in its place based on the totem. A hammer for impact, a claymore for slash, or a long spear pole like the Guandao for puncture. Could be customized like Garuda’s passive claw melees or they simply have limited stats and only default damage type is the single physical damage based on their type. Basically bringing a well modded melee would be the smartest choice.

Now this is just a mere example of what I was getting at. I don’t expect you to use them for your concept. If you do, that’s your choice. But this is the kind of vibe I get from an Aztec, tattoo warlock.

    But that’s just my opinion.

Hello Warframe my friends and I have an idea for an arachnid based Warframe called arachnoid abilities - hang the frame sticks enemy's from the ceiling and drains there health and energy the second ability would be devour it pulls an enemy towards it And it becomes an Ally third ability would be swinging where it hangs upside down and swings from the ceiling fourth ability would be an exalted ability that webs itself up and gains a bigger form gives it a damage and health booster along with and exalted weapon that are spider legs like a centaur but a spider

Well for starters many people pitched the spider frame concept. And with Khora who does have a little spider theme to her, abilities would be difficult. Also Ivara’s rope arrow and Valkyr’s rip line.

However, spiders aren’t the only arachnids. There’s scorpions too which got my picturing a sort of hybrid of the 2. Kind of got me picturing an ability that sprouts multiple legs that do piercing damage to nearby enemies and has pinchers that inflicts slash.

Abilities, for starters the hanging from the ceiling wouldn’t work cause there are lots of areas that don’t have ceilings and DE don’t make abilities that are too limited or restricted. And turning an enemy into an ally isn’t quite spider like.

However, the abilities I’m picturing would be more like:

Passive has longer wall latch plus can run along and up the wall instead of having to jump.

-First Ability, binds enemies into a cocoon that drains their health based on percentage. Enemies killed have a higher chance of dropping health and energy orbs.

-Second Ability, fires webbing that can jam enemies guns and cause them to explode, also can reduce enemy accuracy by blinding them.

-Third Ability, sprouts 4 legs or pinchers to inflict piecing damage or slash damage to enemies nearby. Basically running through a horde will cause the limbs to strike at any and all enemies at rapid pace. Ability casting speed and melee speed boost the speed of the limbs attacks.

-Fourth Ability, summons exalted pinchers/rapiers that inflict slash/piercing damage plus toxic damage. Can cause them to extend like whips that can hit enemies from further away and bring them closer. Chance to inflict paralyzing effect on enemies hit. Maybe gains increased parkour while ability is active.

That’s the sort of abilities I’m picturing for such an arachnid hybrid that aren’t too similar to existing frames. And that’s not even including augment mods. Be hard to describe its appearance. As a male, I’m picturing one that’s pretty bulky. Almost tarantula vibes. And you’ll see the 4 limbs folded or close around the ribs until the ability is cast. It’s body would look more exoskeleton like, more armored looking compared to most frames. Would have low shields but a lot of armor.

    But that’s just my opinion.

I'm suggesting this because of the new horse vehicle that we got from Duviri, because I think it's be a very cool idea. And since there are Warframes that use the K-Drive and Archwing vehicles as their abilities, I also thought it'd be nice for a sort of vehicle ability trio. I welcome all other thoughts/ideas.

Considering Warframes are living beings, the frame wouldn’t be completely headless. It just wouldn’t make sense lore wise.

However, I have been imagining somewhat creepier frames that do all sorts of things. Like what if the frame was a contortionist who changed while basically folded and such. And his head was leaning and twisted in such a position either in the back or in the front of his chest that gives off the appearance of someone headless but he is not. So either an image of his body where the back angle shows what appears to be eyes on a lump on his back or one with an upside down head in the front of his chest.

Infested come all deformed and such so imagining a frame coming out similar isn’t too far out of reach. Like if the contortionist groveling in pain during the transformation into a Warframe and so his body basically did a “face freeze” where his head became sort of glued into his chest or back. I’ve seen people take crazy looking poses while in pain, imagine what a contortionist would look like with pain all over.

After becoming a Warframe, he became known as the frame who cannot be broken. Warframes are already capable of great recovery but his extra jointed body makes it that much harder for enemies to crush him. Maybe he rode some kind of horse and was the quickest to dive head… well… chest first into battle as a result. Ballas even goes as far as calling him more grotesque than even the infested.

Many who get close to him begin to tremble in fear and disgust. So his passive has a chance to cause enemies to hesitate on attacking him. And he takes less impact damage.

Part of his ability kit is basically inflicting the greatest headshot damage as his deformed body causes him to harbor deep hatred for the heads of others. The more headshot he gets, the more he gathers until he creates a sort of replacement head of his own in an attempt to look “normal”. As a result he will sometimes hurl explosive skulls back at the enemies.

I would suggest a few more abilities but at that point we would be getting too far into the realm of Horror. But basically I picture him having a berserker like form where we get to see his contortionist skills in a very creepy way.

I’m sure you get the idea. But that’s just my opinion.

I proposed a similar idea with sacrificing and combining Frames to use their powers a while back, so it seems like it's not an uncommon idea among us players!

I personally still like the idea of combining Warframes in more than just Helminth, though as mentioned in the comments of my old post, it could become extremally unbalanced if not handled properly.

ie: Making a combo of Octavia, Rhino, Chroma and Mirage to stack all of their Damage-Boosting Powers together and be able to one-shot a planet with a Plinx.

Though if this system was actually implemented, I am sure there would be some restrictions to how it was made to prevent such catastrophic power creep.

(Please note that this was written BEFORE MR30 or the Helminth System was available and several years before my current Concept series)

Basically a create your own character concept. Which would be pointless to make anymore frames afterwards, no real balance or uniqueness. DE would have to make sure so many abilities can’t be paired with others and it would be a very complex mess.

Also it destroys the lore. Warframe were created by the orokin using a special strand of the infested virus. Almost like Alex, Wesker, and Nemesis of resident evil. Each frame has a personality, a character before and after being turned into warframes. This concept of create your own frame wouldn’t make any sense.

Unless DE tried to create some multiverse paradox of some sort of Acolyte concept where you get to make your own acolyte. Like the drifter found someone who was turning into a Warframe and was going nuts. Until the drifter managed to tap into the void and “take away its pain”. And the Drifter officially acquires their own unique Warframe. With many abilities to choose from but their animations would be different and their stats would be affected by the position the abilities are placed in. And you would have to collect every single frame and offer each one to the helminth.

Example: Roar is 50% of power strength as a third ability. As a second ability it would be 30%, as a first ability it would be 15%, and finally as a fourth ability it would be 75%. And it wouldn’t be allowed to be paired with any other damage or power strength buff. Not Hall of Mirrors, not vex armor, nothing that boosts damage or power strength. And maybe instead of a typical roar, they do something like howl or screech. Instead of the yellow glow around the body, it would probably be red or you can change the color.

But unless they do some massively drastic changes, such a concept won’t happen. And that’s only if DE wants to let the create your own character concept infect their game. There would be almost no point and no uniqueness for any additional frames. Dudes will make a build and that will be the only frame they’d use for every situation. That would basically be like a cheat code.

Just to follow the lore, you’d get only one which dudes will complain about not being able to change them. Maybe if they redid the quest then they could pull a Duviri rewind that allows them to change the abilities. But that would cause the entitled to demand their frame be a copy cat shape shifter. The option to change them on the go.

People are already complaining about not being able to choose their favorite Warframe and weapons for Duviri. It’s like they don’t comprehend what Duviri is. In that timeline, there is no Warframe. YOU, the drifter, don’t have a Warframe. That’s why it’s so random. You’re basically reaching out or connecting with some random person on the other side. You can’t control exactly who receives your link.

I don’t see this concept ever happening simply cause that’s not the style of gaming DE is going with this game.

  8. I honestly like the whole quest thing going for Duviri. Wouldn’t it be nice if all the open worlds had these options? First, each one accessible from the Orbiter like the Duviri. Maybe a base camp in each open world similar to the drifter camp and the Teshin Cave. And you can be sent on a specific quest with a boss fight at the end.

Instead of random bounty options appearing, they are already there waiting to be interacted with. Ranging from capturing animals, defending or reclaiming areas or people, maybe even some chest/container search. Each one grants standing for each respective syndicate and gives you stat bonuses to your frame, drifter, and weapons.

Course some new content would have to be added to encourage people to try out this option. But it would be a fun addition to have. Few guys I spoke too said they wouldn’t hesitate to return to those open worlds if that option was added to them.

But this is just my opinion.

Get what? I don’t watch their streams nor do I copy someone else’s ideas or concepts. So no clue what you’re going on about.

May not be a “horror” game but the whole “man in the wall” and Harrow quest has already crossed that line. And it wouldn’t be hard for them to repeat some of those elements and expand them to other parts of the game.

Don’t know what concept you came up with for them to personally respond back to you to tell you it’s not a “horror” game. But the concept I’m thinking of isn’t quite in that direction. What I’m picturing, they’ve already set the stage for. I’m just picturing a Warframe for the final act.

  10. With the release of Duviri, is it possible that a puppet frame might be around the corner? The purpose of this post is to basically unite and repost puppet themed frame concepts. Artwork, ability kits, origin stories, etc. all is invited.

I always pictured a frame with the ability to use strings to control enemies directly. Rather than just turning them into his pawns, he actually controls their movements. With the release of Kahl, it makes the imagination/vision more clearer. Basically if you use the ability, the game switches over to enemy. Any damage taken to the frame while using such ability is transfer to the “puppet”. With said ability you can hack consoles and bypass security. But that’s heavily based on range mods. With switch teleport reaching 200 meters, maybe that’s the most this ability can reach? He’s capable of casting despite being downed and can use controlled enemies to revive himself.

Probably can summon creepy looking dolls. Maybe out of different parts of fallen enemies. Creating his own sort of Frankenstein zombie. Or summons something look similar to those Duviri people/creatures. They gave off huge puppet vibes.

Basically the one who made others into his puppets became the puppet. A sort of irony or poetic justice depending on how you look at it. Maybe he had a sort of imaginary friend syndrome. And puppeteering was his only way of not feeling alone. Till he was told there was a way for him to never be alone. To be with those like him. However, he soon found out the deception that awaited him as he became a pawn of the orokin.

Feel free to post your own concepts and such. Let DE know that we are united on this concept however it turns out. Duviri gives it the perfect setting.

Imo, reworking cold damage would help frost better than reworking his entire kit. It's the worst of the primary elements and does nothing when combined with other elements, except toxin to make viral ofc.

I feel that cold should make enemies more vulnerable to impact damage. Gas should reduce their accuracy. Toxic should make them stumble a little. Fire should cause them to panic. Impact should cause some stun or dizzy effect on tougher enemies.

At least those would assist greatly in steel path missions. Even thought of a gas based frame cause so far no such frame exists. Basically picture Vauban with a more hazmat suit like design/mask, who can create ignitable gas. So not only could he inflict gas damage, but can ignite it to deal blast damage. Could even be released in the infested open world if they wanted as he would be a major infested exterminator.

The slip and slide for his second is a super fun idea, especially since it makes them vulnerable to mercies! Id hope it would inflict a cold status as well for theme and possibly synergy. In regards to the snowglobe health status - I know! I love being able to see rhinos iron skin stats, and I've wished since forever that I could see Frosts. In regards to his fourth, yeah thats what I mean - its really hard to mod Frost!

That’s why my Nidus Prime is built the way he is. He has maxed out power strength and a lot of duration for the pure purpose of enhancing my teammates by increasing their power strength by up to 2.5x. 4x during fissures.

I’ve linked my Nidus to a chroma to buff up vex armor. Made it like 3,000%. Then linked to a nearby Rhino who used iron skin and gained 249K armor. Then his roar was buffed up to 500%.

Based on my math, a fissured rhino + fissured Nidus with equinox augmented light third ability and full squad of growing power, Rhino Roar could reach above 2,000%. Fissured chroma vex could reach close to 15,000%.  Fissured iron skin could be close to 5M.

Stalker got one shot. Wolf of Saturn six was reduced to a little puppy. Went hours on arbitrations. Granted this combination only happened a few times. And I never reached the max during fissures. Requires a lot of coordination to pull off.

And boy that snowglobe next to Nidus and chroma. Even level 200 bombarders could barely bring it down by 1%.

Nidus is tied with rhino as my favorite frames. I can do some of the most teamwork with those 2. Enhancing my allies either to defend objectives or destroy high level enemies, including most bosses.

That's unfortunately his only ability that actually scales even slightly, and even then it needs some work. None of the others do, and to get Avalanche to work at 100% armour strip you need 250% power strength which makes modding him a pain. His second ability is literally just flat damage that falls off at around level 50 - great 9 years ago when missions didn't go much higher than that! Less so now. Hell, its even his helminth ability - we havn't seen stats for most used helminth abilities yet but I'd be willing to bet that that is one of the least used!

In regards to the first line, when somebody tells you their house is on fire and u go "same" it doesn't help the problem lol. I wrote the OP cause Frost is desperately in need of updating, not because other far more recent frames maybe needed it as well! He currently only has one ability that is very useful at higher levels, and 1 ability that is difficult to mod for but can be somewhat used. In regards to your suggestions, I'm not sure about turning his third into armour - snowglobe is the actually useful ability that people still play him for. However I do agree that his first ability isnt great - and being able to shoot through his snowglobe like gara's wall would be unbelievably handy.

In regards to synergy, I put some ideas in the original post, but here are some more:
-Frost's weapons / abilities do more damage / have a higher power strength versus enemies already afflicted with cold status. This would encourage the use of cold-based weapons over the current meta, and give his abilities that can inflict cold status a better chance at doing stuff - even better if they updated his second to inflict cold status!
-Dealing more damage to enemies already within the snowglobe would be a lot of fun - really give him the king of the castle vibe. If the snowglobe inflicted cold status by default that'd tie in with the above suggestion, or the suggestions in my OP!

I've actually had to switch off from Frost being my main for the last 1500 hours or so, because he simply can't survive any more on steel path or similar missions as a frame like Atlas can. It's a genuine pain as I've enjoyed playing him all throughout warframe - his bubble is a thing of beauty and I've always liked being able to support my team or protect lower ranked players - its just he's fallen off massively because of his age and desperately needs an update!

My suggestions were just suggestions more than anything else - I've got plenty and earlier in this here post I actually mention more. He honestly requires some kinda synergy between his abilities like so many of the other more modern frames, as right now he has none - his whole theme is literally cold, and there's no other frame that does cold stuff in the same way! There's so much room to work with!

I feel he needs more synergy with his abilities. For starters I feel that he shouldn’t be affected by cold status. And he could slide across icy paths. Part of his passive.

For his first ability, I feel double freezing an enemy should freeze them solid and solid enemies should be extra vulnerable to impact damage. Could be charged for instant solid freezing.

Second ability I feel should freeze the ground and cause enemies to slip and fall, making them vulnerable to mercies.

His Snowglobe should have more use than just defense at this point. Maybe if the second ability is used on it, it causes spikes to pierce the enemies. We should definitely see a health status of it as well, not just percentage. Enemies inside when it explodes should receive more damage and be frozen solid.

His fourth should be enhanced a little. Requiring 250% for armor strip makes it hard to use on enemies who can one shot you and love to keep their distance.

Sometimes I wish MR or polarizing a frame could lead to stat build up. Not a super lot but enough to be noticeable and useful. Encourage people to want to do more. Or add some kind of new Steel Path mods that give the same stats as other mods, but come with a buff during steel path missions. And they can only drop in specific steel path missions from specific enemies.

What's it look like? It's a crab Warframe. Likely chitinous and platey. Might make for good xenomorph cosplay or something, dunno. Don't hurt yourself trying to imagine a crab Warframe.

Passive, can sprint-strafe while aiming, or gains fat movement speed bonus while strafing sideways, but not running forwards/backwards. Likely make *controlling* the movement on the frame *weird* but it must be done. For Crab.

1 Bubble Beam! Crabframe fires a laser from it's, mouth or chest, or right hand transforms into a crabclaw to fire the Bubblebeam, whatevers clever. But enemies hit take cold damage, slows targets hit.

2 Claw Grab. Pretty much a clone of Bonewidows Meathook. Grab an enemy with a crab claw (can be a floating phantom crab claw or the Warframes own transformed left arm or a "third arm" temporarily grown crab claw, whatevers clever) Likely restores a low percentage of Crabframes health while draining the enemies health. Reactivate to throw the enemy.

Maybe enemy also acts as a shield or meleeblocking, blocking damage from some angle?

3 Dismember. While Claw Grab is active with a grabbed enemy, tear them limb from limb with crab claws to drain like 40% enemies health per second while restoring own and forces a loot drop (per second). Mod for fat strength for quick health restore and quick animation, or mod for negative strength for lotta loot drops but slow health restore and slow animation.

Also buffs nearby allies with a speed bonus or something, dismemberment frenzy or something, whatevers clever.

Animation takes both arms so no attacking, movement only, while it's playing.

4 Carcinisation. Become as a crab. Somesorta body transformation, maybe like an Arachne (Acrabchne?) but crabby transformation? Or just turn into a crab? Whatevers clever, but gain like, fat armor bonus and projectile reflection (Crabframe still takes the damage but projectiles get reflected back)
Bubblebeam also procs enemies with Lifted and Void status effects (bubbles)
Can melee while Claw Grab has a grabbed enemy to swing and smash the enemy around.
Dismember animation changes to single left handed animation, can still use right hand for, right handed things like guns and Bubblebeams.

I was basically picturing a teenage mutant ninja turtle. But as a crab instead. Anthropomorphic. Has a shell on its back. A bit of a crab face, first frame with noticeable eyes that move. Would have decent armor compared to most frames. And can walk really fast. Sideway dodges are just super fast sideways walks.

First Ability I pictured shooting a water bubble stream from his body, mainly where his head/neck of the shell is.

Second Ability I pictured more of a unique teleport where he digs into the ground and pops up. Basically tap on a target to pop up on them or hold to create a mark that can placed even on the other side of openable/unlockable doors.

Third Ability I picture more of a sand pit that pulls enemies in and traps then. Enemies caught get cover by little crabs that eat away at their armor and shield.

Fourth Ability I picture going major crab/lobster mode where he creates these giant pinchers that it uses like Fist/Gauntlet type melees where it can perform unique combos including being able to grab enemies and either crush them or use them as a shield. Can be synced with the first ability where enemies grabbed get point blank sprayed in the face. The second ability allows it to bury the enemies and inflict huge percentage based damage regardless of health. After casting a second time or canceled, it sheds its shell to recover all damage taken and gain temporary movement speed.

I mean... Vauban and Protea are already kinda Corpus based...

And then there's Nidus that is basically pure Infestation, even if you ignore that Warframes are already made with an infested corpse.

Oh, and Revenant and Caliban being outright half or partial Sentient.

yep, this comment right here aged like milk.

Don’t forget Hildryn. Believe it or not I thought of Hildryn like 5 or so years ago. The basic concept was a corpus destroyer. Figured having the highest shields than any other frame. Able to fire electric explosives like the staticor that could even damage nullifier shields. Could drain enemy shields and armor to replenish her own shields. And could boost ally’s shields.

What really got me was I even tried to describe her as a bulky female frame that’s like a cyborg. Couldn’t decide on her color between blue, purple, and aqua green. And yet this frame was all of the above. Granted Hildryn is a bit bulkier than I imagined, her passive using shields as energy and her fourth ability were definitely not what I thought of but makes sense.

It annoyed me that the main thing she didn’t have was the ability to damage nullifier shields. Which I suggested DE adds as an augment mod. And surprise surprise, they did.

DE made a few concepts I’ve tried to suggest and was trolled over. Including the corpus themed frame. Dudes called me names for wanting an ability that can damage a shield that cancels and negates abilities. And they compared it to Mesa. And later when I brought it back up, they compared it to Inaros and Harrow.

But Hildryn amongst a few other frames definitely convinced me DE is paying attention and taking ideas into consideration. Nobody would convince me otherwise.

Now for Grineer styled frame, I was picturing something a little more warmachine like. Basically a frame that specializes in heavy artillery. He was designed to be the best war machine. And he definitely lived up to that role, until he got blown to bits. In the middle of the war zone, his body laid damaged, disfigured, limbs missing. Then the grineer found him and rebuilt him using their cybernetic technology and equip him with their own heavy artillery. Along with filling his mind with lies that it was the Tenno that were responsible. Leading to the Tenno having to face him, show him the truth, and “take away his pain”.

I have suggestions for his ability kit but I’ve typed a lot as is. Heck I even have an idea for a new kind of infested. One that could be added to the new open map.

All of you saying that I had 6 months to do it, you are sorely mistaken. I had exactly yesterday and today to do it, that's all. Not 1 second more. The way I use my time is purely my own business and nobody else's. This isn't the problem. The problem is that DE said it was possible to complete Nightwave using recovered missions but it's clearly bugged. This has prevented me from achieving what they said was possible. Had they announced this 10 days ago, perhaps this issue could've been solved by the reset, but it wasn't so. They announced yesterday and this made it impossible because of a bug and mismanagement on their part, which I was unaware of. I trusted them for this to work. It doesn't.

Yeah I started to experience what you was talking about. Was stuck on 26. Kind of mad. 2 umbra forma’s right in front of me but just couldn’t reach it. With the builds I have planned, I don’t need that many. But would’ve been nice.

All the other times it was announced like 2 weeks in advanced. So I figured I could take a break and by the time they say it was ending in 2 weeks, then I’ll do all the recovered missions.

The timing plus the bugs were completely unexpected. Not only were we caught off guard, but then got held back by the bugs. Too bad people who spend 24/7 on this game refuse to comprehend.

This is clearly not their problem, therefor not their concern, therefor their opinion is invalid. That’s like some anti-dog person responding to a dog loving post.

I would also like to add that this wasn't announced on July 17th. No. Perhaps this was talked about, perhaps this was posted about. This was announced on July 27th. There was an announcement in game in the News panel, where you'd expect, and the linked announcement on the forum. This was the actual announcement. If this was announced on the 17th then why do we have another announcement on the 27th, 10 days later? If this was talked about before, either on forums or during Tennocon, then it should've reflected that announcement in game, which is where I take my announcements from. I play the game, I see the News panel. I seldom visit the forums and I simply did not have time to watch Tennocon, because life happened. But I take the time to log in daily for 1 minute, that's how I knew about the Nightwave end date. So I foolishly panicked and cleared my schedule just to try to catch up, only to find out that it's not possible because recovered missions are bugged. Hence why I'm here and talking about this. 1 Day announcement time, bugged recovered missions, and my wasted time trying to reach rank 30 for the only rewards that I cared for, since I have everything else. Not good.

Seems logging out then back in speeds up the recovery. At least for me.

  18. 56 minutes ago, Leontiesh said:

I have no idea what you're referring to. Warframe has been online since 2013 and announcing Nightwave end dates in game has been done before with ample time. This time, 1 Day with bugged recovered missions.

Feels like everybody is purposefully ignoring your point and trying to use strawman arguments just to annoy you. Every other nightwave they warned us like 1-2 weeks in advanced. This time it was only 2 days. Not everybody spends their time on the internet obsessed with every detail of a single game. Some people still willing to get logins will check the news. If there’s nothing there, then it’s not their concern. Nor should it be. People shouldn’t be forced to put everything else on hold cause DE might hold some information back and wait till the last minute to put it in the news.

It’s like everybody is blaming you for NOT being a no life. 2021 is a very strange year indeed. Everything is reversed. What’s right is wrong and what’s up is down.

    Greetings Dreamers!

At TennoCon 2021 we announced that Nightwave Intermission 3 is coming to an end on July 28th at 2 pm ET.

When Nightwave Intermission 3 has concluded, there will be a transition into Nightwave: Nora’s Choice. This brings back some of Nora’s favourite Rewards but also introduces the new exclusive Yareli in Action Glyph and the Waveform Ephemera for the first time. You can tune into Nora’s Choice beginning on August 4th at 2 pm ET.

    Duplicate Protection Continues!
Intermission rewards are sometimes a repeat of the previous Nightwave series, and while newer players might delight in getting some of these new items, we wanted to add a way for it to still be rewarding for returning Dreamers! We accomplish this by giving a 50 Credit reward instead of a previously owned item. This does not apply to items such as Warframe Slots, or consumable items (such as Forma), but rather for owned, unique items such as previous Nightwave Cosmetics.

    Upcoming changes?
As we mentioned in our previous post: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1247630-nightwave-intermission-iii-is-now-live/, we shifted our focus from Nightwave to develop The New War and beyond in Warframe. Nightwave is a regular and reliable reward track for Tenno of all experience levels. Play and get cool stuff! Continuing into Nora’s Choice will allow us to ensure we give The New War the attention it deserves. Our goal to have a simultaneous release across all Platforms remains the same.

Too bad I’m not allowed to complete all my missed weekly missions since it’s stuck on just the syndicate mission one. Which those missions won’t refresh till tomorrow noon. Lovely.

Honestly I picture a frame looking very similar to Kotal Kahn from MK. Having patterns on his body. Maybe different colors determines the attribute of certain abilities. Like determining the physical damage inflicted by certain abilities.

Could see him summoning statues that grant certain effects. From healing, extra shields, maybe even simply creating a distraction or barrier. I’ve seen a lot of crazy Indian like rituals and such. Maybe his passive makes it where suffering a bleeding effect adds a sort of bonus. And using the ability to summon the statues mention above makes him inflict the bleeding effect on himself temporarily. Like a blood ritual. Maybe even have an augment where he can summon all 3 as a single merged statue like some Hawaiian tiki tiki statue, or whatever it is called.

Maybe creating a barrier that keeps enemies stuck inside vs the usual barriers meant to keep them out. So once they step in, they won’t be able to step or shoot out until they destroy the barrier. Maybe the strength of the barrier is determined by the amount of shield sacrificed to create it. So imagine summoning a decoy that draws in the enemies and a barrier to trap them for one single assault. Like the perfect ambush. And so far I’ve seen Indian like people pull off some of the most craziest ambushes.

Basically this frame takes sacrificing and rituals to a whole new level. Which would also mean him being pretty tanky stats wise. To insure survival.

I’m picturing like 2 dozen abilities but can’t figure out which would be the best set-up where he would be more unique and not too similar to an existing frame. Basically combine the blood rituals type stuff with the supernatural demon seals type stuff.

I believe that the first ability is fine and the passive that Ver1dian has stated. Yet I think the second, third and fourth ability can be changed a little. Here are one of my ideas for each ability.

Change the first ability to the second one, yet replace the first with this and the rest follows.

First ability: She sends out a tentacle from her body and attaches to an enemy. I believe it should be like the rip line of valkyr if pressed, but if held down it will send out a more thin tentacle that will buff her armor by a percentage amounts the amount I'm not sure, but to a 50% then starts to regen health and energy but slowly since it it does both but the rate can be increased with power strength.

Third ability: As Ver1dian has stated that would be a lot of work to make a new gun for every single weapon already in the game. So I want to add something that will make her more like a princess or queen of the infested. This ability will be like Nidus's larva ability but instead of pulling them in, it will make a ball of tentacles that will search out targets and infect them with a maggot that will start to drain their health yet a small amount with a passive stun like Vauban's first ability, yet if an affected enemy dies they are turned into a random infested unit that fights for you and your allies. Allowing her to make her own subjects and force them under her rule like a iron fist queen. Power range will increase tentacles range of course and power strength will decrease the time it takes for the effected unit to become infested. This also adds a bit of RNG into the frame since if you're lucky you will get an ancient that will either heal you give you damage resistance things like that.

Fourth ability: I very much like the idea of sending out a swarm of infested flies that attack enemies and borough the way into them slowly turning them into infested. Yet the way you put it makes it sound a lot like Atlas's rumblers, so I say make it half a swarm of flies and half maggots or larvas and have them seek targets forcing them to stager and be a form of cc while doing damage. Yet I believe it would be nice if she is able to make her own little infested "kingdom" like Nidus's fourth ability and make a little infested field around her that acts as a buffing station for her and her allies while slowly spawning more flies or maggots to infect more enemies to turn them into infested yet to make have such a big need to camp if you pass through the infested field you get the buffs but on a timer like Wisp's reservoirs but not as strong, power strength will help though. The second part the field I thought would be great in something like survival and defense while her ability to cc and do some damage while having slight buffing would help in the other mission types.

Also please be aware that I did indeed come up with this on the fly and in one sitting so not everything is balanced or have any percentages yet and more as you can most likely tell from reading, and I would most definitely appreciate any feed back and advice to help these abilities.

Well I was trying to focus more on her being a queen of infested swarms. Able to infest anything. And has the ability to enhance infested. There are like multiple fighting styles or roles. Most concepts go for a damage build. I was trying to go for the kind of build similar to how Nyx and Nekros are with a little buff. To make the infested more useful too. Rhino can buff everything. Chroma can only buff weapons which makes his buff superior to rhino’s on a weapon damage level. So I figured her being exclusive to infested would make her a bit higher. Especially since infested weapons don’t have like a prime/wraith/vandal variant.

There are like dozens of infested abilities she could have. But I was strictly going for the whole infest everything theme. As you know, each frame has a “theme” as DE puts it. The theme for this specific one was basically The Queen of Infested Swarms. Strictly for infesting others and enhancing them. I’m not entirely sure what the play style would be called.

But the explosive infested was literally based on the Runners that explode on you. Figured the same would be done for hers. With infested weapons, figure she could be capable of creating them. Like a mixture between a buff and an exalted. I even imagined her creating an exalted infested whip but guess that’s out of the question now.

I try to create abilities that synchronizes with each other. Where one affects the others in some way. And for this one I was also trying to make the infested weapons more useful. Similar to how Excalibur makes swords better and how mesa makes pistols better. This frame would make the infested ones better in her hands.

But either way, I just post ideas to assist DE. I welcome any alternative ideas. And I don’t have some like “copyright” mindset if others took notes to create their own version. Sometimes you have to post your own so that YOUR ideas get noticed. Most people aren’t gonna read every single comment/response to a post.

I honestly wish I was better at drawing. Got someone to draw a Volcanic Frame concept for me. But they haven’t been in a drawing mood since. They said they would draw more if the concept was implemented into the game somehow. Even if slightly changed a little. But the vision I have for the Infested Queen is pretty, grotesque.

    Update on the above 👆

We have run a script to retroactively give the Palla Syandana to players who have purchased the Deimos Swarm Pack. If you purchased the Deimos Swarm Support Pack before September 3rd the Syandana is now available in your Arsenal to equip. Enjoy!

Well now there are more issues occurring. For starters the animals are not spawning as much as before on top of some of the tracks not being located where the map says. That’s a major Big No since y’all decided to make tokens the only way to gain standing or to guild the companions.

Also the isolation vault bounty has been causing lots of issues. From constantly respawning me when I try to step into the vault to gather resources or causing my sentinel to never respawn back even after self revive. There was a moment where after I stepped out of my Necramech I couldn’t return to my warframe and then couldn’t return to my Necramech either. Then when my tenno took fatal damage I was completed dead with no self revives. Almost like arbitration. Also did y’all intentionally made the toxic area build up faster? Cause that’s ridiculous, can’t even take a break to reload without nearly losing the bounty which has 2 problems: lazy players or not enough enemies while solo. It’s moving too fast and it would be nice if y’all turned it back down just a little bit. Got me nearly panicking trying to keep the percentage down.

Also those Necramech definitely need a better place to level them up. Sort of a ESO for only Necramechs. Like Simaris taking an interest in them and wants to test them out. Don’t want to spend all day everyday doing Orb Vallis. That’s a lot of leveling up and polarization even with an affinity booster. Doesn’t have to be as big or full as ESO but enough to notice a difference. Not to mention Necramech needs some mods like vacuum and enemy radar cause it is hard dealing with such a wide space and so many obstacles blocking our view. Especially with Necramech being kind of slow compared to frames.

Also hotspots for fish aren’t working right. In Cetus and Fortuna we can be sure to see lots of them spawn especially after throwing out a bait. But this one they barely spawn at all and again, more tedious work requirements than both Cetus and Fortuna. Which can become a major issue.

I understand y’all have a lot to do seeing that y’all released an update on all devices at once. Just pointing these things out for y’all to look into.

Or use magnetic that increases the chance of the spear landing a hit. Or hydroid being able to grab them with his abilities, plus swim across the water in open world maps. Or frost could freeze the water for a period, maybe even walk on it as he turns the path he takes into ice. Or valkyr’s first ability to grab them no matter which fish it is. Mirage clones to all throw separate spears. Maybe Duality equinox can activated with a spear which the specter will also catch fish and once ability wears off she do the animation showing every fish caught. Volt could stun the robotic fish. Sleep abilities at least slow them down.

There are a lot of ways DE could make fishing easier. Give some of the frames more creative  uses. But doubt they ever will. Mag and Volt as starter frames would become more useful for sure to new players going into open world maps.
