  1. while they are relatively cheap and can be farmed with relatively small amount of prime trash i can't shake the suspicion that DE would be making more money overall if they got rid of the slots entirely. obviously i don't have the numbers (if anybody DE might have them) but there has to be a not negligible portion of potential paying customers that consider this entire system undesirable (like stingy inventory/storage space in other mmos) and do not continue playing because of it.

would be interesting to weigh the numbers against each other. the total amount of plat needed right now is something around 4000? that's 50€ for each player with max discount and 200€ without, let's average that to 100€. now, that's the maximum amount, not every player keeps every weapon after leveling it and there is quite a plethora of useless trash that can be deleted. would be interesting to know how many people actually collect every weapon and hoard. those would be high mr players, 27+ since when you got a weapon you'd usually also at least lvl it so the amount of players that actually need all those slots would only be a fraction of the entire player base. and even among those not everybody will hoard. let's arbitrarily but conservatively deduct 40% (assuming 60% are high mr AND hoarding, which i assume is actually a lot lower) so we end up with 60€ per player on average for slots. that's less than a medium prime access. i would argue that this number in reality is closer to 30-40. again, only DE has the actual numbers.

60€ per player vs a speculative amount of potential customers buying more than one mid tier prime access across their entire warframe "career". but i guess figuring out the number of what percentage of people leave warframe exactly for that reason would be impossible as they don't tend to stay around to tell the story or fill out a survey.

so i guess in the end the slots are a safer, more reliable profit compared to the unknown numbers of people who might have exceeded that value if slots were not a thing.

PS: yes, i made a full circle and counter-argumented myself and it all led to nothing but now that i have already spent the effort of typing it i'm not willing to delete this inconsequential amount of work and time investment.

  2. tbh the abyssibal chance for it to drop from the container once in a millenium wouldn't fix anything. might as well not be in the game since only a handful of people will ever get one even if they farm the anomaly 24/7.

what needs to be implemented is a way to farm umbra forma reliably at an appropriate (therefore big) cost at time or resources. making it tradable for anomaly shards at a high price would be one solution among many.

  3. Since the new Nightwave is coming out and with it a precious new Umbra forma i'm somewhat reluctant to use it. I already put 2 on Wukong, which was nerfed shortly after. Next in line would have been Chroma but he got nerfed long before the new forma was released.

Now next in line would be saryn but i fear that since it's a good nuke frame. I wonder if i should waste my precious umbra forma once again like i did with wukong. next in line would be rhino but he also is seeing somewhat of a wee comeback in the meta so he might be changed as well.

all of this is pure speculation but i would enjoy reading your speculation on this topic.

  4. there is nothing wrong with the AoE meta. the goal is to kill hordes of enemies so obviously aoe is better than anything else.

if i had to shoot every enemy individually i would probably quit playing as this appears so tedious that it's beyond any reasonable fun-pain-ratio. if you want to shoot enemies individually i suggest playing destiny 2.

  5. this isn't even close to any kind of record. i was mr 18 after 18 days when i started playing (i had a lot of time on hand, my progress slowed down after that/i stopped caring about mr) and i've boosted former clanmates who wanted to speedrun to mr 27 (back when that was max) in 30 days or less.

best i've seen so far was mr 27 in 27 days.

it's really just about knowing the game and how to make an efficient game plan.

  6. the ability to remove unwanted and inadequate elements from your squad would be the best, beautiful, nigh perfect addition to the game.

  7. Hello,

does anybody know by chance if certain houses are bound to certain missions in the veil? have been running gian point for 3 days now for vidar engines but haven't gotten a single one so far. instead i got enough lavan parts to max out 3 engines and 2 shields.

is the gian point droptable skewed towards lavan? and if there is a difference in drop tables, which mission is skewed towards vidar? or am i just unlucky in the end?

  8. now that anomaly shards are a thing and you can get the other items from the rare container as a trade, could the unfair practice of rewarding people the luxury of minmaxing their frames based of an abyssimally low dropchace finally end?

it doesn't have to be a freebie so it becomes the new normal, make the price insanely high, 100, 150 or even 200 shards per forma. but given that the release cycle of nightwaves has slowed down significantly and therefore the gain of umbra formas over time has reduced i think it's time to once again pressure the issue of being able to acquire umbra formas through another path than waiting 4-5 months or getting incredibly lucky.

the time period between gaining umbra formas is now longer than significant balance changes to the frames that might benefit from them so now it feels even worse having spent those formas on a frame that got nerfed. with the ability to gain them through effort that would somewhat relief this as you'd be able to get more of them, even if it takes a considerable amount of work.

  9. anecdotal experience.

i tried to get several friends into the game (about 6 or 7 over the years). most didn't last two days. "WTF, i have to wait 3 DAYS FOR THAT THING, lol no thanks". about 4 or 5 of them quit day 1 or day 2 due to having wait for the warframes we farmed them that day. the last guy just didn't like scifi.

and yes, while this mechanic is a massive turn off for new players i think it should stay in the game. it's a mechanic against new players and poor people. i detest both.

  10. i don't see a problem here. it's a free market. anything else would be communism.

De should not interfere with supply and demand of rivens. those prices are so high because people are willing to pay them. who are you to dictate for how much things should be sold? who made you great emperor of warframe?

the only way to take out the extreme rng factor out of rivens without destroying the market and with it DE's profits would be an upgrade system similar to other games that allows you to upgrade and roll-lock stats. this would need to be tuned so that the effort required to get to such a godroll riven equates it's market value. Which would be a lot (lot lot lot lot lot lot) of grind since you have to assume the upper value as a baseline.

this would require a boatload of work which we know DE is not willing to do (let's release and abandon another 20 "revolutionary" mechanics instead). they won't nuke their own profits and they won't put in the work to substantially rework the entire system from the ground up so this entire discussion is futile. every few months we'll be getting this toxic riven "rebalance" that will destroy riven value, which will free up platinum in the market for plat sinks like the shop and thereby kill incentives to actually buy plat with money. but only gradually until it normalizes again and new weapon and their rivens take over said value. this is already bad enough economically for DE but it's a (bad) compromise they are willing to sacrifice some profits to. anything else would literally blow a hole in their platinum sales. they won't do that. they shouldn't.

from a business standpoint losing money from sales or investing it only to keep profits stagnant (even tho it would make customers happy) both are a financial loss.

you claim your idea would "fix" the market without destroying the income for DE. but it would do exactly that. it would suddenly devalue all traded rivens. rivens would only be traded for minimal value if they were even traded at all. i imagine some smart people would use their daily trades as rolls making the entire kuva system obsolete. tens of millions of plat (if not much much more) would suddenly be freed up to use in the shop and people would not have to buy plat for quite a while. the inflation would cause prime parts to rise in price by a lot. this would however not change anything for new f2p players as they would have to pay the same raised amount if they want to purchase prime parts.

boosters, skins, formas, slots ... anything that can be bought from the shop would be massively devalued over night. people wouldn't have to buy plat for months. even with minimal play. De would literally kill their own income for months if not years (until the shop drained enough plat to normalize the value compared to the free player market ... which tbh might never happen if i think about it).

the entire idea seems to not be thought through very well.

i agree on the technical point that introducing rivens was a mistake (although i profited greatly from their existence) but now that they exist and a market developed around them over the years it's impossible to radically change it without destroying the entire economy and in obseqium vast parts of De's income.

as i mentioned the only two paths are to develop a system around rivens that would enable manipulating the riven in detail which would have to match the market value in effort spent as mentioned above (and i bet most of the people who cry about the riven prices would then cry about the amount of grind you need to get your god rivens) or leave it as is and let the free market do it's thing.
