  1. I'm pretty sure that weapons with unique mechanics, aka glaive/wolf sledge will not fall under "auto-melee" mechanics, or we will get some type of trigger for them.
  2. Hi Tenno! I'm not sure was this proposed or not, but I'll try. - We already had weapons in the past, that has uncertain type. Spearguns - throwable spear, but also 4 diffrent guns with absolutely different gun part types. Gunblades, especially the Corufell and Sarpa - long range shotgun and burst-shooter with pretty good accuracy. Glaives and Exodia, Syam and Edun that allow you to launch ranged attacks, even though weapons ARE melee. A lot of primary/secondary weapons whose style allows us to assume that they can be used in melee combat. Cedo, with it's launchable glaive. And finally incarnons, primary/secondary versions of which literally change their types (rifle>archgun, shotgun>dual pistols, pistol>smg) and newly announced Grimoire. What I'm tried to explain, is that a lot of magic and weirdness happens with weapons. So I think it's right about time to offer you the idea I had in my head for all the time I'm playing Warframe: Weapons, that change their type "on the fly", depending on the slot you've selected. More detailed explanation: For example, you have this "multi-type" weapon. This certain unit can transform between Primary and Melee. So when you've owned this weapon, it appears in both selections in the inventory - Primary and Melee. Both modes modded separately. When you have equipped this weapon in both possible slots, unique mechanics opens, that allow you to empower both Primary and Melee modes switching between them in the right moment. Additionally, this "double-equip" unlock some unique properties for one or both of mods, based on the weapon alter-regime. As example - primary mode allows you to block or to build the combo for melee. Melee mode build charges over time (to prevent spam) that allows you to release devastating attack in primary mode. And in melee mode this weapon keep some gunblade properties, depending on it's primary/secondary type. - Examples of the weapons: Whip. Visually, it's a single-handed sword, but it is a whip. It built from segments, like the chain. In "primary" mode, this segments launched with great spead, piercing and slashing enemies, dealing enough damage to one-hit mediocre mass-unit (lancer, crewman, charger). High damage, low fire rate. If enemy is not killed in one hit, the segment orbits the last hitted enemy, returning on enemies death. If the enemy was not killed by 4 hits, what results into 4 orbiting segments, you can switch the weapon to melee mode, and perform heavy attack into this enemy unit. This attack works from any distance, forcing orbiting segments to shred the enemy multiple times, dealing massive damage. In melee mode, it's just a whip, that have increased range and follow-through for a limited time, according to the kills done in primary mode. Enemies hit by melee mode turn on projectile auto-targeting for primary mode. Gunspear. In primary mode it is a gunspear. I see it as something like hardly reworked ferrox - massive one-hit damage with portion of aoe (wide energy beam with explosion). Sniper rifle benefits without sniper scope. Low fire rate, low ammo capacity, high crit and status, unlimited or very powerful punch-through. Weapon designed to one-shot anything or even group of enemies, but you must pay a price for that. Kills in this mode provide combo count for melee mode. In melee mode it's a polearm with blades made of light. During it's combos it releases waves of energy, that "charges" enemies and force them to chain damage and statuses to other "charged" enemies. A bit like "close contagion". Kills in this mode provides combo count for primary mode. Shot with primary mode consume all acquired combo, dealing increased damage. Also I have ideas for great sword/shotgun, few types of akimbo pistol etc etc. I'd like to see healthy critics and analysis of my ideas - are the stupid in general, or have some common sense? Thank you for your attention! P.S. My English is not perfect, so grammatic and general style corrections are welcome!
