  1. After naming a newly hatched Kubrow, the "Back" button on the "Preview Companion" screen is broken and can't be clicked. Pressing Esc does not work either. You can still access the Menu, however. This happened when I was trying to view one of my other pets in stasis.

Edit: While testing the repeatability of this error, it stopped happening :S

  2. Wow this is perfect timing! I just vectorized my old Prime Time logo submission, I think I'll post that!

Question: is there somewhere we can get the official "Warframe" logo and lotus symbol as an SVG? I want to incorporate the exact thing into my design but I can't seem to find it anywhere of suitable quality...

  3. Quick comment on the format of the podcast. It would be awesome to have this available to download as a stand alone file or if you made it available in podcasting apps. I mainly listen to podcasts in my car and would love to add a Warframe podcast to the mix.

  4. Bearstronaut, thanks for the 1 up! I like your idea for capture because it fixes the problem that is the reason that they make them immune in the first place. Plus it makes narrative sense like in movies where the one guy you need to get is surrounded by guards all the time. An important member of the factions isn't just going to be hanging out.

  5. As a long time player (since U7) I often think about how Warframe can be improved. Ever since the shift toward the "immersive experience" when the Liset was born, I was excited by doing more things "in game" and looked forward to more world building. Today I wanted to discuss the different mission types and how "realistic" they are in my opinion. Which ones make sense in the Warframe world as it currently stands and which ones probably need some love. My hope is that as Warframe continues to grow, that we will all be more immersed in the world and all of the play will make sense in that context.

I decided to rate each mission type on a 5 point scale defined as follows:
5 = This mission makes perfect sense within the current world of Warframe and furthers the immersion and narative
4 = This mission makes sense and is almost where it needs to be with a few tweaks
3 = This mission makes sense but needs a minor change to be improved
2 = This mission doesn't make much sense and requires major changes
1 = This mission makes no sense in the current world and needs to be overhauled

tl;dr here are my scores, to see my reasoning, keep scrolling:

    Exterminate (Score: 4)

Ah Exterminate, the staple of Warframe: jump in, kill everyone, simple as that. You have an enemy vessel that needs to be eliminated, or a defended outpost that needs to be taken out, send in the Tenno assassins! The reason I gave this a 4 is that its missing that extra driving force. Why am I here? What is the urgency? What made these particular Grineer any worse that the rest? My suggestion would be to add a rotating... lets call it a "motivator". For example: This vessle is headed to a peaceful civilian outpost to destroy it. It must be eliminated before it can touch down. This motivator would induce a time limit to the exterminate (time til landing). Essentially, move some of the extra conditions like the ones in the Sorties and add some flavor, maybe even one that rewards for stealthy exterminates.

    Defense (Socre: 3)

Defense is another staple for me. It sort of makes sense: there is something that needs to be protected until the rescue team can arrive and extract it. The part that muddies the waters is the "optional extraction". If you are really just there to defend this cryo sleep guy until the ship gets there, why wouldn't you leave with the ship? For that matter, why didn't you just bring the target back in your ship that you came here with!? I think what this mission needs is a bigger target. The Grineer power plant ones makes a bit more sense than the others in that you could think of it as "Tenno, please stay here and defend this as long as you can so the relentless stream of Grineer don't take it back. If you get tired, we'll swap you for a different team of Tenno". The vision I have for Defense ties it to the world in a more real way. Instead of some random nameless cryo sleep guy, what if you had to defend a whole outpost, or civilian settlement? There could even be numerous buildings and structures that could get destroyed and you lose if the damage reaches a certain % threshold. As for the defenses within enemy ships, maybe its just a change of narrative that needs to be made.

    Mobile Defense (Score: 3)

Although I find these less fun than straight Defense, I do think that they make more sense in the world. You have your little mobile Lotus briefcase and you need to access particular terminals that are not connected to a part of the network that the Lotus can hack into from outside. My one beef with this premise, however, is the way the enemy responds to this threat. "Oh no the Tenno scum are hacking into the computers, what should we do? SHOOT THE COMPUTERS!!!". What would make more sense is if they treated this like they do the Interception signals. They try to shut down that access to the computers from the computers. So instead of shooting the terminal, they try to lock the lotus out. You would have to go kill any enemy that is accessing nearby computer terminals.

    Interception (Score: 3.5)

Speaking of Interception, as one of the newer game types, it makes more sense than the older ones. There are signal transmission satellites that need to be hacked so we can read the messages. However, for me at least, something just doesn't feel right. I can't quite put my finger on it but maybe its something to do with the "king of the hill" mechanic in relation to the theme.

    Rescue (Score: 5)

Rescue is a standard in a lot of games. It's current form in Warframe is pretty good in my opinion. You got to get this captive agent and get them to safety, there is an interesting Warden and security element to it and the captive has a voice! and it can wield one of your weapons! Cool!

    Spy (Score: 5)

Spy used to be mobile defense without the defense. Now it is something a lot cooler. The dynamically changing "data vaults" and the reward for stealth are pretty unique. The extra incentive of mission specific reward for each successfully hacked console is also pretty good.

    Survival (Score: 4.5)

I personally like Survival a lot. Something about unrestrained murdering of hoards of enemies. It also makes thematic sense. A squad of Tenno are elsewhere stealing stuff and you need to make a diversion. The longer you stay, the more stuff they can steal. Jokes about the enemy bringing convenient life support along can be explained away by the fact that they would need that for themselves when the life support runs out. My only complaint is the line about "they have just shut down all systems". Really? All of them? like the lights and the gravity and the computers and the engine? All of them? Hmm. Maybe more systems should be shut down now that we know [Spoiler!]:

    Spoiler

that the Warframes don't need air? It's not like the Operator is there or anything. Also: Archwing.

    Sabotage (Score: 5)

I think that Sabotage makes perfect sense. You have to go in and disable a ship or a factory or whatever. The new mechanic of the ships engine being a complex system is great (and true). I would like this line of thinking to continue.

    Deception (Score: 2)

On the face this seems to make sense. Put a worm in the ships computer terminal to redirect it or plant false data or whatever. But wouldn't it be obvious that you did something to the system if they find a bunch of dead bodies? This mission should have to be completed without any alarms. Maybe without even killing? Maybe too much to ask.

    Capture (Score: 4)

I have mixed feelings about Capture. On one hand, it makes sense in the world on its face. You have to go and grab someone for interrogation later. On the other hand whats with them being immune to all Warframe powers (I know why in the sense of the game but there is no narrative to support it in the world of the game). And whats with this digitization thing? I feel like the target should have some better protection instead of just being strait immune.

    Excavation (Score: 4)

Hi-ho hi-ho it's off to work we go. Time for some terraforming. It makes sense, we are going to mine some stuff in the enemy's back yard. They probably aren't going to be cool with that. What doesn't make sense is why they bring power packs. I can't even come up with an excuse for that one. Also, Cryotic from Earth?? Maybe something with the Cicero toxin and the antidote should be put there instead. Like antidote machines that you need to feed plants to make the antidote for... something.

    Hijack (Score: 4)

Hijack is one of the newest missions I think and as such (like excavation) its existence is pretty limited. I feel like this can be expanded and now that I think about it really should have been Mobile Defense 2.0. I think there is room for more things than the Fomorian Power Core and Corpus Generic Cargo Rover.

    Sortie (Score: 4.5)

The Sorties are pretty cool. They have unique challenges that sometimes make things really difficult. My only complaint is that the subject of the Sortie (such as the Jackal) only shows up if the last mission is an Assassinate. I feel like in the future, this would be a great place for mini-bosses or just an appearance of the boss in the other 2 missions.

    Crossfire & Invasion (Score: 4)

Ug, I'm sorry but I really dislike these. The problem isn't the narrative though, which is why I gave it a 4. It makes sense in the world of Warframe that the different factions fight and you can help them to restore balance (yeah right). I really wish these played more like Star Wars Battlefront II where you have to capture and hold command posts. I know this sounds a lot like interception but in SWBF2 the capture points ranged a larger distance and the spawns for both sides were on either side of the map. The main reason I don't like this mode is the reward structure. I would much rather run 1 mission that is 3 times longer than to run 3 identical missions. This has been mitigate a bit by mixing up the mission type within but god forbid you have to do 3 defenses in a row :(

  6. I found an error with the model for Excalibur when you turn too far to one side or the other in the Liset. His neck twists further than his helmet causing clipping. I haven't checked elsewhere in the game but i figured i'd bring it up.

Also I noticed this pre-U15 (idk if it is still happening or not) with all desert skates:

    tsHPJqn.png

They would turn into a pair of bloody shorts after being killed. I think this was only with melee weapons (as I was going sword alone at the time).

Anyway, keep up the good work!

  7. First off, loving the syndicates! Its funny that just prior to the update, I was actually more excited to see what these groups were and carefully choose my alliance than I was for archwing. This is probably because I've been hearing about archwing for a while and syndicates was brand new but whatev. I hope the syndicates continue to expand in breadth and depth, keep it coming.

My only opinion about ember is that maybe her Fire Blast should be more linear? Like a Fire Wall or something. Something to make it more different than the other "circular" abilities like Snow Globe and Bastille.

Lastly, dancing. I might not call it that specifically, but it would be nice for some kind of emote because we all do it already by casting abilities at extract and whatnot. I wouldn't waste too much time on it, but people would probably like it and use it. While we are on the subject though, could we PLEASE increase the amount of time between idle animations??? It gets a bit annoying, especially the ones with sound effects.

  8. Paul Blart and Steve?

Haha, red text, this isn't the latest you've been up, lets be real. :D anyway, thanks for the dedication! really enjoying U15 so far. Wish I could get my hands on archwing faster (without money) but you know; good things come to those who wait.

  9. and to replace DNA stabiliser have a defrag mini-game.

Keep your corpus proxy regularly defragged and he builds you electronic resources while you are away.

OoO I like the idea of a mini game for pet upkeep, feels a lot more interactive.

  10. Sigils:

I like the concept, but am apprehensive about the implementation. I definitely think that Warframe could use challenges outside of the Mastery Tests and the Steam Achievements. But I fear that the great grind god is going to rear his ugly head. If it were me, I would make the the Sigil challenges as skill based as possible. Something like "Reach Defense wave 30 with only a melee weapon equipped" instead of "Complete 30 missions with only a melee weapon equipped". Another example: "Perform 20 headshot kills with your secondary in one mission" instead of "Perfrom 200 headshot kills". The important thing to note is that the challenge could be completed in one mission, but it is challenging enough that you probably won't get it on the first try.

Truth be told, the Sigils themselves don't do anything for me. The Warframes are already so detailed and intricate that slapping a flashy symbol onto their body just clashes. The clan emblems and event emblems work because they are offset from the body whereas the demo Sigil just got lost. One idea I had keyed off of something DE_Steve said about wearing the Sigil to show fellow players that you are going for a particular Sigil. Instead of being a body sticker, I thought it might be cool to have a banner with the Sigil on it (kinda like a Samurai war banner or something, a flag on a pole you attached to yourself, almost like a syandana), Like this:

  11. Let me first off say that I like the UI's new style and I think we are headed in a good direction once we get though some growing pains, so keep up the good work!

On the other hand, the following is the thing that has bothered me the most, it has probably been mentioned here but I want to add my voice to the others:

When going to the foundry most of the time I get something like this:

    5xy5yBr.png

The warframe is too far in on the left, which makes it really difficult to see the left side of the foundry. Note the location of my mouse. Most of the time I have to quit out of the foundry, shift my frame as far left as I can and then go back in and it usually looks like this:

    heEhyPi.png

Again, note the location of my mouse, you can see its in the same spot. The second pic is fine, my problem is that most of the time I get the first image instead. Also, here are my video settings for reference:

    eNugUea.png

  12. So I'll keep this short and simple:

Can those in charge of uploading the Livestreams to YouTube create an audio only "podcast" of the livestream available for download?

I understand that you lose something by not watching the actual livestream video, and there will be no way to "see" the cool spoilers and stuff that the Devs show on screen. On the other hand, I often have to take long drives and like to listen to podcasts when I'm tired of music or vice-versa. I find myself wanting to keep up to date with Warframe, but don't have the time to sit down and watch the whole video.

    Thanks!

  13. Let me start off by saying I love Warframe and have logged may hours (500+) in-game since my brothers got me hooked. I have also watched almost all of the Livestreams and PrimeTimes since I started playing around the time of Update 8. I want to see this game evolve and succeed as I am sure many of the long time players do.

    Background: The Issue

That being said, I think that the 2 biggest issues with sustaining player interest are: challenge and motivation. The former is a discussion for a different post, here I want to talk about the latter, motivation.

What motivates a player to play Warframe? Speaking personally, I would list the following in descending order of importance as far as why I log in to play Warframe (aka most important to me is first):

    1. It is a fast-paced 3rd person shooter/brawler

    2. There is a large variety of characters and weapons to play

    3. The game is constantly updated with new material

    4. I can play online with friends/family or strangers

Once in-game, my motivation list is just as short. The following is a list of reasons I stay in game in descending order of importance:

    1. Is there an event with cool rewards I need to complete?

    2. Is there an alert with a reward that I want?

    3. Do I feel like building a new weapon and/or warframe? If so, do I need to farm for materials, credits, parts, etc.

    4. Is there a weapon/warframe that I want to level up?

    5. Are there areas on the starmap that I want unlock?

If I answer "no" to all of those questions, then it is time to log out. As you can see, motivation, at least for me personally, revolves around rewards.

    So What's your point?

My point is that if players who have progressed passed the beginning of the game are to keep playing, they need a more "open ended" form of motivation. It is possible to have all the weapons/warframes/sentinels. It is possible to unlock everything, but what do you do once that is no longer your motivation for playing? What do you do with all that stuff you've accumulated? Right now, not a whole lot. I think the game needs a different form of motivation, one that isn't purely rewards based.

    So what do you suggest?

Who are the Tenno protecting? Why does the balance of power between the Corpus and Grineer matter? Who gets hurt when the Grineer add another world to their empire? Who is feeding the profiteering Corpus' wallets? What we need are victims. I think that there needs to be a race of humanoids (or even humans) that the Tenno are protecting. Whenever the Tenno let a world fall to the Grineer domination, its inhabitants are enslaved. Whenever the Corpus annex a planet, its people must pay the Life Tax. Currently, these consequences are only implied. I think players need to see the effect of their actions, and just as in real life, there can be negative consequences either way.

For instance, if players let all of Saturn fall to the Grineer, they may gain payment from the Grineer for their help or inaction, but they will also lose the production of resources from that planet. Who is there to mine/manufacture resources when it all belongs to the Dogs? It certainly isn't characteristic of the Grineer to share

Or if a mission goes awry against the Corpus and you either fail the mission or abandon, then you are forced to pay a penalty to the Corpus or the drop rates in that planet could be reduced.

If a victim race was added to Warframe, I think that players would be motivated more to "maintain the balance" in the solar system by keeping both of the aggressors at bay.

For the sake of brevity, I'll leave it at that. What does everyone think? What motivates you to play Warframe?

  14. KUvnRyN.jpg

I was inspired by the stream's dynamic duo and this is what I got, hope you like it!

Best of luck to everyone else, especially BloodCarnival and endGRAVE, those are awesome too.

    EDIT:

Here is an example of what it would look like inverted and shrunk down to 128x128
