  1. GO BACK TO COD YOU NUB, sorry. couldnt resist :D

I agree with most of your points Nugget. The PvP does need to be fleshed out a little more

But one thing to consider is the "balancing game" that comes with trying to combine PvE and PvP playstyles. Each and every warframe has atleast 1 ability that is great for PvE use, but is completely overpowered in a PvP setting. You fix it for PvP use and now its horrible for PvE use. It would be a never ending cycle.

There could be a 2nd "stats set" that is strictly used for a PvP setting and that could be finetuned. But Im sure that would be much more of a headache that DE doesnt want to deal with.

The 2nd issue that I see as a BIG hurdle, is the hardware/network limitations. I am sure we have all been in a game before. Join a host, things are going good. Then a 3rd or 4th person joins and the game becomes a lag fest. The host isnt able to handle that much of a load. Im not saying everyone has gaming machines or internet that couldnt handle it, but they are out there.

Yes, the game's host selection has gotten better, but its not a 100% sure fire way of getting the best host yet.

I dont know what kind of a load a 4 player PvE game is like now, but what is the host load actually going to be like with a PvP setting with 4 or 8 or more players?

  2. Thank you 13. And its not like the game is not fun. Quite the opposite. DE made a game that is fun to play, but they just have to expand on the actual content (and not just tiles, weapons and frames) to give it sustainability. The lack of content (different play modes/objectives) cause the burn-out to happen that much sooner.

Baker, Koma, and Padre: Thank you guys for keeping constructive back and forth communication going. I will have to clean up part of my post and add more game mode ideas and visit your thread Baker to submit them.

  3. I have been playing this game since the beginning of July 2013. Close to half a years time. I have seen many good, many bad, many "meh" things come. I have been on both sides of arguments. Supported DE in some things, shunned them for others

But now, I am done. There just isnt anything left in this game for me. Its actually a pretty short checklist

-Unlock every mission on the star map (which, unless you are solo on defense, isnt very hard to accomplish)

-Do each OD mission once to see what its like (can always hitch a ride with a group in Recruiting)

-Do each Void mission once to see what its like (hitch a ride like above)

There, thats it. You just beat the game

now you have the post-game collections. Thats all it is. Keep running the above to get the below for no other reason than to "have"

    -Collect any other warframes

    -Collect any other weapons

    -Collect any other sentinels

    -Collect any other mods

-Raise your mastery level to allow use of other items (only reward is an extra 2 deployed extractors)

Thats it. There is nothing else.

Is there a boss fight that requires you to use cunning and outwit your opponent with team coordination? No

Is there a story for your main motivation to blindly following the Lotus's every command? No

Is there a goal to this game? Sadly no

Seems like a pretty basic game, no? And RNG is put in place as a roadblock to stop people from completing the post-game so fast and give them even more to complain about when they realize how empty the game is . While we do need to have the RNG addressed, the BIGGER issue at hand is the game missions and their goals. Each mission shares the same goal, while having a 2nd (and sometimes 3rd) goal.

All missions Goal = Kill the bad guys

2nd goal = Defend this location (defense, mobile defense), Get this person (Capture, rescue, Assassination), destroy this (sabotage, deception), collect that (survival, spy)

sometimes 3rd goal = Capture, rescue, collect, destroy..... depending on Lotus's mood

The new escort mission, when available, will be included in the "defend this location goal" since you are defending the robot lotus

Dont get me wrong. The game was a breath of fresh air at first. The gunplay, mixed with unique warframe powers, while adding some slight parkour made it unusual and fun. But once you realize that all the missions are too close to the same, and the grind for items is far from worth it, the fun factor drops drastically. Not to mention NONE of the fights play out like anything from any of the trailers. This is something Im most disappointed about. There really is no teamplay. Everyone comes in like rambo, guns blazing and mashing #4.

And with each new major update and livestream, I get the impression that DE doesnt know what they want from this game. Like there are 2 or 3 different groups internally that are pulling this game in each different direction. Its even been said (mostly by Steve) on the livestreams how much they fight internally about changes. And after each update, some stuff is constantly getting worse (drop pool dilution as example) without really being addressed.

I know, this game is still in "beta" and stuff can change at any moment. But "beta" and "live" are used so interchangeably now that it doesnt matter. Beta is just being used now as a hide behind for mass-released items that are incomplete with no clear final view.

My philosophy regarding F2P games: If a company can extract the cost of a new game from a player (roughly $50), then they have succeeded with their product. As far as i am concerned, I have supported DE with my purchasing of platinum (potatos, forma's during the .67% era, frame/weapon slots, etc). So they can look at me and say "hey, we got our game price from him. Mission accomplished. Screw whatever else he has to say" and sweep me and my concerns under the rug. But below are my suggestions to help make this a better game than just something to waste a few days, weeks, months on.

    -Remove the useless mods

You know why people complain about mod pool dilution? Because there are too many useless ones in the way. When was the last time you knew of someone using an Intruder or Warm Coat mod in any of their frame loadouts? Im not saying remove them completely from game, but atleast remove them from the drop tables until there is a reason to need them. Maybe if you insert some sort of boss hacking mini-game mechanic where they would need extra hacking time and cyphers didnt work, then you can reintroduce them back in. (new boss fight with this idea below). Same thing with warframe power mods. Everyone already gets the 4 abilities when they get a new warframe. And those powers are only maxed at rank 3. Fusion cores are plentyful for that purpose. That right there is 68 mods that can be removed from the overly diluted pool

    -Boss Fights

Right now, none of them are what I would call challenging. They are more of an annoyance. They seem to be following a "hit weakspot, wait, avoid AoE damage, hit weakspot, wait, avoid aoe damage, repeat" fighting style (Vor, Ruk, Krill all follow this and are the last 3 to be reworked. Hyena, jackal, raptor, Lephantis are very similar). All can easily be overpowered with weapons alone and by one person. None involve any sort environmental interaction, meaning you cant activate any laser defenses like in Void Defense, to help against a boss or substantially weaken them.

Or you guys remember that old

video? The one where Hayden turned a Jackal against the grinner? Why couldnt that have turned into a part of a boss fight? A Room full of inactive or active jackals, one boss that hits hard with lots of armor. You have to sneak around and use that hacking mechanic to turn those jackals against him. Fail the hack, they turn on you. Maybe only have like a 4 second hacktime, cant use a cypher. Then you can reintroduce that worthless Intruder mod?

    -RNG

Yes i know, this is a touchy subject. The scapegoat for a lot of woes. RNG can work and be an effective method to ensure work is put in, but when things You currently have several types of RNG at the moment. You have RNG mod drops, RNG Void drops, RNG resource drops, RNG blueprint drops, RNG defense rewards and RNG encounters.

I dont know how it is exactly set up, but I get the impression that in terms of Void RNG, you have a chance at something from Group 1, 2 or 3. Group 1 has a 70% chance of dropping, group 2 has 25%, group 3 has 5%. But then inside those groups, each item also has a different % chance to drop similar to the group %. Item 1 is 60%, item 2 is 20%, item 3 is 10%, item 4 is 7% item 5 is 3%. So your chances of getting item 5 from group 3 (and im not mathematician) is pretty effin low.

Instead of relying on that, why not give everything an equal % and put all the faith in the RNG system? There are 8 possible drops in T1 void defense, give all items a 12.5% chance of dropping. If something is supposed to be harder to obtain, move it to the T2 or T3 version but follow same rule of everything has the same chance to drop. The outcry wouldnt be so bad about void RNG if things had equal footing.

I know there has been talk about a "token system" as a possible solution. It could also be put in place while keeping the RNG and you have a perfect medium to do it. Im talking about.........

    -DARVO!!

That little bastard is out to make a name for himself as being a well-to-do business man. Wouldnt it stand to reason he would care to make trades if he would profit from it? Why not allow excess items be traded to him for something else. Resources, void keys, blue prints, prime parts, mods, fusion cores, weapons. You have 5 Bronco Prime barrels and no receiver? Trade the barrels to Darvo with a slight tax, its not easy moving Orokin goods you know, and hes got that receiver you need. This lessens the impact of RNG. It allows players to still put in the time and feel like they earned something.

    -Mission staleness

As i stated above, there are only slight variations on the differences between the missions. The invasions and infestations were a step towards something different, but it still feels the same. Maybe a "divide and conquer" type mission where you and your teammates actually have to coordinate a plan of attack. Each has to hit a different objective and activate it at the same time. Each path would benefit from a certain type of warframe (one way is easier with stealth play, another has hard hitting baddies that would be easier for a tank, another path has tons of "zerg" units that a fast DPS can take care of easier).

Or a strictly Stealth mission. Once a alarm is alerted, mission fails. So you have to watch the runners who try to trigger the alarms for reinforcements, or cut power to a room before you enter so nothing can be triggered.

Or how about a mashup of the Corpus/Grineer invasions mixed with conclave ability to fight other tenno. You pick your side, get matched with 1 teammate (unless the netcode is really strong to support 4 on 4 with all the other enemies) and actually have a challenge because you are up against more than just AI. Help your side reach your objective first, win the battle pay. 2 versions could be available: vs AI and tenno, or race to the finish without fighting other tenno. Lore wise, the battle pay already makes us seem like mercenaries, so wouldnt it stand that some tenno broke off into other cells and we happen to come across them? Im sure clans would eat this one up if there was direct competition vs other clans

And you could take the idea from above with the hacking of Jackals on a boss, and turn that into another type of mission. Head to a storage room/factory, activate some jackals for our side, escort them out to extraction. If you are solo, you need to bring 1 working unit, if there are 4 people, you need atleast 2. Or use a survival twist, see how many you can get before time runs out. Different reward tiers based on how many you get.

Or Defend the Jackal, one of our rescued jackals is launching an assault on a base. Defend it and collect "oxygen" like repair drops to replenish the Jackals health/shields/ammo and keep the assault going. Better rewards the longer it goes.

    -Lore

This is one of the first things that should have been hammered out from the start. Like a movie script, you need a story to sell your idea. We have been getting little snippits here and there with each update... but its not enough. There just isnt any story here. You get woken up, lotus tells you "we kills these factions and rescue more tenno, just because" and thats all. With the codex, we got a little of the Stalker's side of things, but we are still trying to piece together what happened. Are we the bad guys here? Do the grineer have a nuke that could destroy all the fluffy bunnys in the galaxy? Are the corpus into human trafficking? Is the Lotus hellbent on total domination? What is our motivation?

The tenno awake and see they are weapons, they can cut down whoever opposes them, yet they blindly follow the lotus? Just doesnt add up

Not to mention.... where is Vor's prize already? Ive already got the suspicion its going the way of The Phantom

    -Communication

This has always been a big issue to me. Rebecca and Megan do a great job of keeping up with what they can around here. But I believe more can be done. Im not saying respond to every thread, but put stuff out there for the community. If you are planning on making a change to something, ask for ideas from the community on that topic in General or Grineer Workshop. "Hey guys, we are thinking of remaking the Nef Anyo encounter. Any ideas what could make the fight more engaging?"

Or a "it appears there is public dislike over battlepay offered for invasions. What would you guys most like to see there?"

Now I am sure some soapbox founders will have an issue with this being open to everyone. But this game is still "beta" right? Doesnt that mean everyone that is participating should be able to voice their opinions on proposed changes?

And even a "We are going to change the Crit Damage on the Wraith Twin Vipers from 200 to 175 on Wednesday. The 200 was a little higher than we wanted it originally, but its still higher than the 150 from the normal version" would be acceptable.

Little advice from my real life, but even a little more communication can sometimes help a broken relationship

    -Little things

Increasing trading slots to more than 3, and if not done already, include ability to stack same items

Allow trading of BPs, materials, etc...

    Make UI scalable, movable, customizable

Well thats it from me. If you took the time to read my whole wall of text, thank you. Took me 2 hours and I am tired. Time for bed. I may give it another shot in the future after some months have passed if things get changed. But right now I am just so burned out from the same repetition that is here.

TL:DR Im quitting, heres problems to fix.

  4. I have been checking in on your thread for awhile now nugget. From the start, you had good points, clear and concise and well thought out. But lately seems a lot more are learning towards evangelism (relaying a set of info with goals of conversion to ones cause) with straight up bashing thrown in.

I am not going to disagree with what you have brought up, because I DO agree with it. I just believe that HOW it was brought up makes you lose some credibility. The last edit, Harvester, is a big example of this.

That said, yes RNG is a BIG issue with this game, among others. And if we didnt have RNG, then there is no game. RNG is the only thing containing whatever little "end game" there is.

We can go layer by layer what is offered in this game

-Unlock every mission on the star map (which, unless you are solo, isnt very hard to accomplish)

-Do each OD mission once to see what its like (can always hitch a ride with a group in Recruiting)

-Do each Void mission once to see what its like (hitch a ride like above)

There, thats it. You just beat the game

now you have the post-game collections. Thats all it is. Keep running the above to get the below for no other reason than to "have"

    -Collect any other warframes

    -Collect any other weapons

    -Collect any other sentinels

    -Collect any other mods

-Raise your mastery level (only reward is an extra 2 deployed extractors)

Seems like a pretty basic game, no? So RNG is put in place as a roadblock to stop people from completing the post-game so fast and give them even more to complain about when they realize how empty the game is . While we do need to have the RNG addressed, the BIGGER issue at hand is the game missions and goals.

3rd goal = Capture, rescue, collect, destroy..... depending on Lotus's mood

The new escort mission, when available, will be included in the "defend this location goal since you are defending the robot lotus

Thats a total of 4 different game modes. How long can you play the same 4 gamemodes and not get tired of it?

Simply put, there isnt enough to this game so RNG is put in place to extend it.

  5. 1: Atleast 15

    2: Average times = 30 minutes

3: Number of Burston Prime Blueprints- 1

4: Number of Burston Prime Receivers acquired - 0

5: Number of Burston Prime Barrels acquired - 1

6: Number of Burston Prime Stocks acquired - 0

7: I believe i got the BP at about 10 minutes, barrel at 15. Two different runs.

I want to point out, out of all my runs Ive also received roughly 1 key as a reward in each run. All under 15 minutes

The rest of the rewards, all low credit (1000/1500) which is really a slap in the face at 20+ minutes

  6. Sedna? How much longer are we going to have to wait for those 3 cells to be released to us?

Its been sitting at 88% for the past couple of days.

And cells have been practically non-existant for me. Ive gotten maybe 3 from Ruk in about 20 runs. Another 3 from 10+ ODD runs (all past wave 25). I have NEVER received one from my extractor and ive checked it twice a day for the last 2 weeks?

Its absurd, preposterous even. I bid you good day, sir

  7. I vote Vauban

But barely. I think other frames would be more deserving.

As far as looks, Vauban is barely better with his Sand Steamer (Trigun) type helmet vs Loki and his Pitch Black alien heads.

Vauban body much sturdier. Dont know why... loki looks like hes wearing parachute pants to me.

In game usefulness, Vauban all the way. Between his crowd control and damaging abilities, hes a win-win for solo and group play. Lokis mass disarm is good, but useless against 1/3rd of the enemy factions.

I had more fun with Vauban.

  8. to do the 100%, it does take a LOT of time. Just have to play defensively. Take plenty of ammo packs and be conservative with your ammo. You need to take some firepower. You cannot take low level level frames/weapons and expect to survive.

From a frost standpoint, set yourself up for a pure defensive play. Maximize your snowglobe. Stretch, continuity, constitution, streamline. Maybe a flow if you need to get a big reserve. After your snowglobe is as beefy as it can get, then get your survival ability up, redirection/vigor/vitality.

Even for this one run, if you need mod space, ditch your ice bolt and ice wave for now. Possibly avalanche if everyone else has the DPS.

Get all the enemies in close, use the frame ultimites to clear it, collect ammo and energy as needed. Repeat.

This is more of an endurance test more than anything. And depending on your tileset, half the enemies get stuck and dont come anyways. Let them come to you, protect the bubble.

  9. if you want to get technical about it, we never own ANY of the games we buy.

But if the game does in fact go down in the future (and it will happen eventually). I hope DE works with the community a little bit so someone can keep a master server running.

I was a big fan of the old Tribes games (tribes 1 and 2 specifically). And after Sierra/Dynamix went down, it was the community that stepped up. Someone is running a "master" server so everyone else can still log in and play. I am pretty sure we had to make a new account, it its still being played with no support.

  10. -RNG sucks

-"Less grindy" to DE means "run the same thing over and over"

-The scanner scope needs serious rework

-DE needs to play through their events just like us to see first hand

#1 and #2 are self explanatory and have already been said multiple times. RNG needs work and it should not be used in this fashion of having to rely on finding super rare drops to have a chance of completing an event.  **IF** the scores were cumulative, then it wouldnt be so bad, just do a couple of runs with a mild or medium toxin since its pretty easy to find those items. But instead you have to either find 2 rare (i have yet to see 1 sun jadeleaf in the past 2 days) and 3 other people that actually DO have the Lapis toxin, or you have to find 8! of the rare plants if you are solo. You are completely at the mercy of the RNG on being able to complete this event or not. Its not up to the player if they pass or fail. And i know you just made the potions trade-able, but one should not have to pay to win a event (because no one is really trading these, all just selling for plat).

This brings me to #3, the scanner. Running through this map, which is brighter than most others, is making it tough on some people and being able to find these. Even in the last hotfix it was supposedly addressed, but it hasnt made a huge impact.

This first picture shows the immediate contrast between the green pipe and the acorn behind it

    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=205798207

This 2nd picture.... even with it right in the reticle, see if you can find the loot crate directly below that platform

    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=205798136

There should be a more definite contrast when looking through the scanner.

And the scanner only activates when you zoom. Not to mention that the running, zoom, running, zoom, running, zoom, turn, zoom, turn, zoom is a BAD use of this item. You are forcing people to get motion sick on this wild goose chase.

A possible fix: After giving the items a more distinct appearance while looking through the scanner, maybe change the scanner to be a built in neural implant on the warframe rather than a carrying scope. It would still need to be put in your gear boxes, it would still need to be activated, you still cannot shoot while its activated. But it stays on constantly in your view (much like how detective mode in the Batman Arkham Asylum/city/orgins games work). You still need to focus on something and click to scan it, using a scanning charge. As soon as you press F to switch to a weapon, it is disabled and your view is reverted back to normal.

#4- I know after a long day of busting your hump at work, the last thing you want to do is anything related to what you were working on. But everyone at DE should group up and run their event. Get in the trenches with the rest of us schmucks and see what we are wading through. Honestly see how long it takes you to complete it or how long till you give up. I see Rebecca and Megan already did this a little during their Prime Time, but this was more to get people informed on the event. Even in the past events, how many people at DE did the 100 missions on the Grinner vs Corpus Gradivus? Arid Fear? Fomorian Sabotage? Play through your events to the end (as really thats the real reason to complete it), and answer honestly if you had fun after the 10th, 15th, 20th, 50th run on the same thing.

So far the only event I really enjoyed was the Darvo and the Stalker, and that wasnt really an event.
