  1. That's almost 2 meters, judging from the angle. Good thing northern Europe isn't known for seismic activity. There's still space under the ceiling...
  2. In any case, I take things at a relaxed pace, picking up a thing or two when the budget allows it. I'm going to paint for the next couple of months, until the heat sets in, then switch over to assembling and converting. The reason for this is, that it gets harder to paint in hotter environments, as the paint dries much faster, leaving streaks on surfaces and paint drying up on palettes. I also have some old Rackham figures from the Confrontation game, that I would like to use for other games as well. Thus my interest in minis agnostic systems. The One Page Rules games, for example looks promising, and more and more independent developers are putting their games out on the net as well. Blimey! That chamomile schnaps I was talking about... Pretty potent. I guess I'll go to bed now. Take care, my simian friend.
  3. 40K is at a questionable state right now, anyway, which is why I'm trying out 30K right now. I'm also looking at other miniatures games, like Infinity and Star Wars Legion, as well as some miniature agnostic games. I plan on painting my Tau strikeforce a digital desert camo, once I get around to it... Some day. I'm very tempted to print out some of the monster pictures from Kingdom Death, and use them for my pen & paper RPG GM'ing. Got plenty of my own designs, but additional resources are always welcome.
  4. Those are really nice too. I'm still painting Blood Angels for my Horus Heresy army, and in true ADHD style I'm currently building a M113 APC in 1:35 as well, to see how well it translates to Warhammer 40K. 1:48 seem to work with "normal" size minis, and 1:35 fits well with primaris space marine sizes. Even hatches are close to the size on GW kits. Good thing I don't have a 3D printer, or there would be no end to things that needs painting (as if there's an end at the time of writing).
  5. Ok. That looks interesting. And the minis look nice. I've been considering Kingdom Death for a while, but it's so bloody expensive and hard to acquire. It's a bit of an expansion hell as well, but..... the minis are gorgeous. And the monster designs themselves are fantastic! I should probably finish an army or two before piling too much more on my pile of shame.
  6. Yep. I've been looking at those for years. Prices are a little prohibitive from what I've looked at, and I'd want one sitting on rails instead of wheels, since wheels would tend to bunch up the carpet. Maybe once I get another place...
  7. Ok... Sooo I guess you like board games?
  8. Physical exercise does indeed help, and I also live... rather compact. And if I remember correctly, so do Mag. So it is good to find some techniques, you don't need a lot of space for. I even have a couple of exercises I can do, when my back keeps me bedridden. I picked up Solitary Fitness by Charles Bronson, on staying fit in solitary confinement. A lot of 'bro-science', but if you use it for supplementary inspiration, rather than a stand-alone manual, it is worth the shelf space. Besides, it is the only training manual, I know of, that centers around training in a small cell. 😆
  9. Every little bit helps. I had a cane lying around for bad days, since the knee operation in my late teens. Then in my fourties it got so bad, that I needed to use it more and more often. Be mindful, that taking weight off the leg tends to lead to back problems.
  10. Arty has no regard for youth, I'm afraid. I got it in my hands in my twenties. Managed to stave it off for a long while with exercise and diet, but it catches up to you sooner or later. CBD products seem to help (provided it is legal in your area), as does a good quality tiger balm. I tried a NSAID based cream, but as with all NSAID products, I wound up with headaches and stomach pain using it. Still monitoring the status of orthokine and stemcell therapy, and my doctor is looking into it as well, after I pointed out the procedures (neither is standard treatment in Denmark yet, so...). I miss martial arts.
  11. That is good to hear. I'm slowly getting used to retirement. Hands are getting a bit worse, but eh... Part of getting old. As long as I can still hold a brush, a knife or a kettlebell, I can make do. Luckily I have plenty of hobbies and routines, so I'm not going to fall apart in front of the TV. Inactivity is one of the big killers of retirees after all.
  12. A favoriting function for relics would be really useful as well. Scrolling through an inventory between rounds, with the countown ticking, is not optimal. Putting the ones you've agreed to crack at the top will be a big help in Radiant Crack Parties... Wait, why is there glitter on the floor?
  13. Hey @DeMonkey . Long time no see. How's the tail hanging?
  14. It's complicated... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinner https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supper Over here, in viking-land, supper/dinner is still 'aftensmad'. Hávamál 33. A man should take always his meals betimes unless he visit a friend, or he sits and mopes, and half famished seems, and can ask or answer nought.
  15. Just finished up a sleeping tincture for my insomnia. Take a medium strength schnaps, and pour some in a seperate bottle for later use. Then add 100g dried chamomile to the bottle, and top up with schnaps. Then let it sit and draw for at least two weeks, or depending on the alcohol content a couple of months. Then run though a coffee filter and bottle it. Store in fridge. One shot glass can be used for helping with sleeplessness or as a mild sedative. Next batch, I plan on adding valerian and possibly hops as well. Sure I can ask my doctor for pills, but eh... We've seen where that can lead. Even handed in the morphine tabs I was sent home with after my operation. Just to be sure.
  16. Seriously, DE... You censored THAT? Thanks for demonstrating exactly why general discourse is such a clown show.
  17. Finally... The complete icelandic sagas in the best translation to date, and a high quality binding, that allows the books to stay open on the table/lectern etc. Checked the benchmark passage in Egils Saga, and not only is the reason for Harald Haar%&^er's name there, but original name and annotation are included as well. Worth every danish crown it cost.
  18. Just a small reminder that this week's Steel Path offers include an Umbra forma blueprint.
  19. To die for the Emperor? I brought a shovel.
  20. Had an interesting discussion with a friend of mine concerning the integrity (or lack thereof) of academia today. And later I found this: Of course, this isn't new. I wrote a couple of critical papers on subfields and their questionable theoretical foundations around a decade ago, and managed to get high grades on a subject type that either leads to high marks or crash and burn (no censor enjoys being told their favorite subject and bread & butter is built on a bundle of fallacies and intellectual bankruptcy. And what do you know... I got away with it. Twice). So it's well established, that some people don't deserve the descriptor of 'academic', let alone get paid for pretending to do research. Eric Weinstein has also raged against the masses of pseudo-academics parasitizing on the stagnation of certain fields of science. And there's also Boghossians critical research on... certain fields of "science". So, where am I going with this? Well, Sabine is pointing out, that a career alternative is the democratization of academia. That research is being published on everything from YouYube to Substack, superseeding the usual process of peer review and editorialization. This does have implications, since you don't get the same quality control as you traditionally would with established procedures, but when everything from reiterations to fallacious research get through, one could argue, that the current evaluation methodology has become obsolete, or at least non-functional. Then, where do we go from here? I've used references to researcher's blogs before, since I've known them as scientists, and have been able to evaluate their self-published work, but without the foreknowledge and tools of assessment, the usage of these types of publication runs the risk of dissemination of mis- and disinformation. So an actual democratization of academia risks the undermining of the foundation of scientific research, as the very sources we build our own research on too easily can get corrupted without a strict verification process. Too bad this process in a lot of academia seems to be infected with greed and incompetence... Are we f-cked?
  21. DE adds something to the game, then finds out it is way, way, WAY too good, and everyone is using it and having fun... /surprisedpikachuface We've seen this pattern over and over and over. My main gripes are still that: 1: DE doesn't learn from these mistakes. 2: They are obviously not testing whatever they're shovelling out to us. The design process has for many years been "Just launch, watch, patch", and it has become worse with the new guard. It seems more and more, that the winning formula of old was more of a lucky coincidence, than design choices, and they're running out of good ideas. I'm more and more finding myself playing the old content. Most of the new stuff becomes stale really quickly. Oh, and hi Mag. Good to see you again.
  22. Not quietly enough!
