Id argue comparing two cosmetic items makes more sense than comparing it with groceries. I hear your point but value has and always will be subjective. There’s $20 purses and $5000 purses. That’s gas for two years. These are optional cosmetic purchases, the market determines their value, if no one buys it they lower the price or don’t sell them. We can’t demand a price reduction when the DEMAND is there, it will never work that way. I will always have a larger issue with the NECESSARY in-game spending e.g. warframe slots, foundry time-gating, etc. That is predatory. Cosmetics are completely subjective, and I don’t think DE did anything here that undermines the current cosmetic market

Well, besides damaging trust in DE, the value and role of platinum, the heirloom packs DO undermine the cosmetic market in two ways:
    1) there have been a whole new cosmetic slot added that curently can only be used by buyers of these packs
    2) these packs may be the beginning of new, 'progressive' pricing models for the cosmetics skins to come

I find that this is or threatens to be quite disruptive for the cosmetic part of the game.

  2. Some days ago - months after I my last run -  I started Vampire Survivors and got hooked again. Played hours and I'm having more fun than ever with the new stuff that got implemented (and more fun than with Warframe I have to admit).
This game builds onto and expands its main game loop. No pile of deserted development islands.
Oh, and currently it's at 3,47 € on Steam. No priced DLCs. Free updates.

Sometimes you just have to compare apples and oranges to get a clear view again.

  3. Sorry Tenc... I mean, DE, we gave you clear feedback on this skin bundle.
The available bundles are bloated with stuff people don't want and are offered at a way too high price - for real money.
The amount of included platinum was never a point of the criticsm.
    Why?
Because your 'premium' currency looses attraction anyway when you can't buy the cool stuff with it.

  4. Equinox: Her kit should encourage more fluid switching between her forms and reward players for using her seven abilities. The augments try to do that somewhat but in the end you only use a subset of her abilities or find out that the result isn't worth the effort.
She's not a bad frame, but she doesn't deliver her promise of being flexible. She probably needs only a small push, one or two tweaks.

The only thing I think about it is that they alienate people watching the TennoCon for Warframes news by showing them something that's totally unrelated.

That's just as obnoxious as when Blizzard used the Blizzcon to promote Call of Duty after Activision-Blizzard merge.

Soulframe looks nice, but it seems it's all it has for it. Everything is pretty random. It looks like a personal project tailored for exactly one person which happens to be one Dev.

This Dev threw every weird idea at Warframe until it became an unwieldy monstrosity with so many abandoned areas.
Soulframe is a fresh start with plenty of money - but I would not be surprised if it ends the same.

Looks interesting, but what game type is suppose to be ? RPG, adventure ?

Probably something that could be played alongside a live-service like Warframe or has another target audience.
Wouldn't make sense to position two games for the same niche, would it? /irony off

If Warframe Mobile news launch tonight, that will far eclipse the issue and it would just be a "minority" of old players leaving. The same happened when Raids got removed.

Well, if they continue to devalue their own premium currency, they will loose trust of quite a big part of the community...
Warframe's monetization had a good reputation. If DE really goes down this path, word will spread quickly.

Let's see what the big reveal is. Personally I hope DE goes back and concentrate on the main game loop instead adding another island.

  8. I was about to vote for Hydroid, but yeah Lavos takes the cake.
Both are clunky (casting time, tap&hold)  and suffer from damage types. After the corrosive change, Hydroid's Barrage doesn't remove amor completely any more and magnetic...nuff said.
Lavos doesn't offer anything interesting for me which is a shame, the frame should reward choosing the right damage types way more.

  9. Atm she's a clunky shield tank frame with a dispenser.
Her "turret" isn't scaling and lasts not long enough. In my opinion a turret makes only sense if it rewards for good postioning and watches after your back for a while so you can concentrate elsewhere.
Her ultimate hasn't really a purpose. Why go back in a game that mostly moves forward to a mission objective?

Her 1 and 3 are ok, but boring. If you build for max duration/strength the upkeep of both abilities is acceptable. You don't really need range at all.
The only thing I really like on this frame is the passive.

  10. There were mods with random stats in the early stages of the game, correct? Or at least DE played with the idea and dropped it quickly.
Look how much "fun" the multiple versions of avionics and the railjack components with rng stats before the first iteration were. And how quickly that was changed to allow players get max stats?

But somehow people still defend rivens in their current implentation.
The argument I constantly read is, that reducing the layers of RNG would unbalance the game as if there would be no possible way to take max stats into account for balancing.

Yet even the most fervent apologists of rivens are against transfering the riven mechanic to other modable parts of the game (warframes, pets, focus, etc.).

So, rivens are the holy grail for weapons, that need those layers of RNG for balance reasons (if you roll/buy/use a god riven, that doesn't interfere with balance at all) but somehow for other parts of the game it's frowned uppon.

I don't get these kind mental gymnastics.
The cynic in me thinks, it's all about the money or a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Rivens is THE one thing in the game that matches more to something that EA would do in one of their games. It sticks out like a sore thump.

I'm a little bit worried about the consequences of an "ultra hardmode." Though, a lot of the weapons and frames in Warframe can go pretty far in endurance runs. If DE doesn't do this carefully, "ultra hardmode" will be the benchmark for frames, weapons and builds and there will be consequently less diversity (meta could become mandatory if done poorly... it's not mandatory right now).

I fear the same. The next step of the neverending circle of powercreep. Ultra hardmode will set the new meta, where rivens and certain frames will rule even more than now.

People will complain about the reduced pool of valid choices which will result in a new progression system like rivens... which will make things easy and nonchallinging again... sigh.

But Ash is not terrible. Put more than 10 minutes into playing him and you'll see how freaking amazing he still is, for anyone who isn't a lazy spoiled sourpus bum  about his Bladestorm rework that is. Ash's problem comes from Saryns, Mesas, Volts and all the other nukers and nuke weapons like Bramma who clear rooms and tilesets in seconds. He doesn't get to use his Bladestorm because it isn't an instant-win button any more.

But he's in the same game with Saryn, Mesa, Bramma (and every other long range melee weapon). What does Ash offer in Warframe? Where are the high priority targets in a mission that requires a dedicated assassin frame (assuming that such a target would be succeptible to his kit)? Even in disruptions!
The game design vision doesn't seem to be coherant if you look at the developement of those frames over the years. Seems that the devs are split in two groups, too.

While I agree that we have different points of view

it’s obvious that ash is a frame more tuned for solo play. That dosent mean make him a frame that has a map wide nuke like Saryn. His current kit is true to what an assassin is. And there is nothing wrong with that. Aside from a few qol changes that’s it. Many people enjoy playing ash and have fun doing so. It’s not just about convenience of him having a map wide nuke because every other dps has such.

Also you brough up enjoyment which is a huge factor. Simply put it’s obvious that you don’t like his current kit And don’t enjoy it. It seems like you enjoy other dps frames and that’s okay. Ash dosent need to fit those criteria again because there are other frames that you enjoy. Personally I don’t enjoy playing volt as much anymore but I don’t see a reason to rework his kit.

also as his far from niche as again he can perform and even excel in the same situations as other frames.

Making him him a nuker isn't the only way to go.

I think, if high priority targets were a thing in Warframe, he would be more in demand.

He could contribute in a unique way and play the assassin we all envision.

Ash: "Guys, you can slay the hordes, but I make sure that big ones don't hassle us!"
    Saryn: "Our hero!"

Perhaps the best "rework" for Ash are more strong single targets that are susceptible to his kit.

But at the moment even in Disruption which should be his hunting ground, I see noone playing Ash and I can't blame them. I prefer other frames there , too, which is a shame.

  14. vor 17 Minuten schrieb (PS4)sweatshawp:

Imo his kit has aged very well. Of course there are frames that can do dps a better and stealth better but he’s still in a far from bad place. I’d offer to propose anyone who thinks otherwise to out surviving and dps me in a mot but the last time I did that I got called cheese and a tryhard.

If they were to actually rework frames that fall behind in playtime we’d have a better revenant nyx and atlas by now. Personally it’s not about feeling special playing ash it’s about actually being engaged in the game for me. I don’t care if everyone played ash tommrow. But as it stands he’s far from in need to a rework or a revision as his current kit can does and has no trouble tackling almost all content thrown at him

Not much to argue against. Different points of view, you mention dps and and endurance. I emphasize enjoyment and convenience.

And team composition and playstyle of the group can severly diminsh the fun aspect of playing Ash - at least for me. Personally I see it as a waste of dev resources to let a frame stay in a niche for a longer time.

DE stated on streams that percentage played is one factor. There also must be one the staff who has a good idea/vision/concept. If nobody is in the mood, we don't get a rework.

  15. @OP: Ash is viable, sure.
Everyone can feel special playing Ash, because you don't see him that often, but in my personal opinion it's better for the game when DE reworks frames that fall behind in play time.

His kit shows its age. Warframe has moved on.
Other frames can achieve the same results way more convenient (and have more utility to offer).

I agree, though, that there are other frames that are way more in need of some love from DE.

  16. In my experience, other players just kill too fast for his current implementations of his 1, 3 and 4 or just cannot compete with the kill speed of a melee build (not much can these days).

    Just not worth the effort.

The only half decent unique thing he has left is the group invisibility and his passive.

And that is just not enough

    "More Shawzins!"
    "More pet damage mods!"

    "Next tennogen round!"
    "New captura scenes!"
    "New immortal skin!"
    "An additional open world!"

On a serious note, this game's core loop has been thrown under the bus in favor of things that attract a subset of the player base. I expect nothing from this dev stream.

  18. Harrow: With the augment he can finally give energy and healing to the team even with dps monsters in the group. Ok, now I keep two buffs up and spam Chains everywhere....yeah. Still feels too stressfull for my taste.

Titania: I can swap Arcane Energize for one of the Pistol Arcanes now, but 4 enemies is harsh and can screw you up when the spawn rate is low or your team mates kill too fast.

Hildryn: I honestly didn't feel much difference.

Grendel: Nope, refuse to give him a chance.

    Exactly like that.

Start working on WF2, and still do what they are doing with WF, slowly moving resources towards WF2 and then announce it 6-12 months prior to release. Call it a 'Surprise' "we did it for you guys!" and move on.

They can figure out Prime access owners and people with 5k plat and above by giving them some exclusive stuff or booster packs or something for their WF 2 accounts, it ain't that big a deal.

So hiding the truth from the community? Lying to us?
Developement of WF1 would come to a crawl. Do you know what would happen when news of WF2 would get leaked while the devs still promise things for WF1?
Do you expect people to continue spending money for WF1 in this scenario?
What about people with ten-thousands of plat in WF1? What exclusive stuff could probably satisfy the loss of this?
Sorry, there's no way could pull this off without causing damage beyond repair - especially for the money spending part of the community.

My brain explodes thinking about the meltdown that would happen...
DE would move from once my most revered developer to sub-Bethesda-level in an instant.

  20. vor 7 Stunden schrieb White_Matter:

Well, paying for WF accessories is a voluntary act. I paid lots for plat, tennogen and prime accessories myself.

But whether DE moves on to another game or not, WF will end at some point. They won't keep developing WF just because they feel like they are indebted to paying customers.

I think everyone is/should be aware of that.

Game is on a decline, most people are aware of that also. And the reason for that isn't just absence of substantial content. It is many things, some of which go deep down into the games core.

Knowing that DE won't do a complete overhaul at this stage, I think a fresh start, taking all the experience from this to a new project, without making the same mistakes seems like a better option than to keep pumping resources to a dying game.

Please, elaborate. Give me a scenario how DE could handle this without leaving scorched earth especially for the players who invested much in this game?
We have several statements of Rebecca that WF2 is not a way to go. What would happen when DE does a 180 on this matter? The moment DE would announce WF2 their income would drop  to zero while facing an huge backlash from the community.
WF2 would need years to be ready. Who should pay DE's bill during that time?
Well, they could make a big secret about it. Slowly shifting resources from WF2 to WF1, hoping that nothing gets leaked. But in they end, they need players buying those Prime accesses now which won't happen when WF1 suddenly has a fixed end date.
How could DE pull  this off  without poisening the relationship to the community or leaving their claim to be in constant communication with us?

-shrug- Maybe I'm just old fashioned in that regard, I never saw a point in dealing 300,000 damage to something that only needs around 5,000 to kill in any game.

    There are several possible points:

    * elevating aoe weapons to the level of single target non-riven weapons

    * eliminating the need to customize your weapons for each faction by brute forcing with a one size fits all riven meta loadout

    * enabling players to squeeze out just another eidolon kill in a night

    * pure lazyness. Why click three times per enemy when I can oneshot him even at level 80/90/whatever?

  22. vor 4 Minuten schrieb White_Matter:

    100% sure they can't/won't.

As sad this is to admit, WF has run its course. We know it, DE knows it, everybody knows it.

What we need is something fresh and it is pretty obvious at this stage that we aren't going to get it with this game.

What we need is WF 2.

    Back to start?
Why should people give WF2 another chance if DE would drop WF1 like a hot potato? That would be an immense disrespect for the investment people made in this game.
Some people pay 50 bucks for Warframe Accessories several times per year. Do you think they start all over again, loosing all their cosmetics/progression/platinum?
