We've been waiting for this update to go to cert for 3 weeks. Then it takes 1 week of cert for the other console and we on switch font have it.

Ps4 and Xbox was already a 1 month waiting.

Nintendo switch is at a minimum of 1month and 1 week of wait.

So yes people are allowed to be pissed when they see DE updating the bloody pc again! When they are already working on the Rising Tides for ps4 and Xbox!

Yes the delay is Nintendo fault! But the choice to work on the other consoles and not put the whole team on this Huge problem is DE fault!

And you say they give us something as forgiveness. Probleme with that is you have to get the update first to get anything so it solves nothing!

There's a bloody elephant in this room so talk about it instead of hiding behind you nonses of who's fault it it!

It's Nintendo and DE fault. Nintendo for being pricks like always and DE for deciding it was a brilliant idea to release rising tides on Pc when one of the consoles gets wrecked!

So yes people are allowed to be very angry after all parties involved.

This is the definition of entitlement. I recommend you to buy a PC and go there and enjoy the updates full of bugs they get until a stable version is reached (casually, that stable version is what we in consoles receive). For the way you write, I seriously doubt you should be playing this game as it's rated M for Mature tho,

By the time this is resolved, if it gets resolved, it will be about a month since the unvaulting. It doesn't look good for Nintendo to have SD cards burning out in thier systems.

When the thing is resolved we'll talk about how long did it take. Until then, you don't know.

However I agree, it's not good for Nintendo to rely on SD cards to install games that are live like this one and others.

We are almost 2 weeks since console dropped

Yeah, I suppose 8 days (one week and a day) is almost 2 weeks. It's also "almost a month" and definitely "almost a year".

And for your info, every update comes first on PC, this is not new, it's been like this for a while since they basically test the updates on PC (due to how easy is to submit patches because they don't have cert process like consoles do).

Like I said, in many case, things might not go their way. The SoC thing is based off of a great relationship with Nvidia: they worked together to help make the Switch work and Nintendo more than likely had a provision in their negotiations and contracts that let's them get a better SoC than what they had previously. Just because they got a different one, doesn't mean they can do exactly the same with all their other contract component partners. How do you know that Nvidia just so happens to have more of a leeway with respect to contracts?

As for profits, like I said, the pricing of components are contractually negotiated, which means they could potentially be paying the same price for years (and as I said before, Nintendo isn't in a position of power: Samsung (or whatever other manufacturer) is): Nintendo needs those companies more than those companies need them; they aren't Apple, where they can actually bully other companies down in price due to their amount of leverage and power.

With respect to you being okay with having two versions of the Switch with the only difference being the storage, that's fine, but a ton of Nintendo customers would be upset (like how they were upset about the Wii U having the exact same thing).

As for this is why you hate Nintendo, well... that's kind of what you signed up for. I'm fairly certain that you know that this would be a possibility, yet you bought their product. And it works for them (especially in the Asian markets). In order to inspire change, the best you can do is to stop giving them the time and money, period, as they'll never listen, regardless of whether you like the system or not (whether partly, or as a whole). And when they ask as to why you did that, you tell them, bluntly, about why. As long as we complain and do nothing else, but turn our backs and still give them money, nothing's going to happen and nothing will change (outside of community perception and happiness).

I understand the points you're making about the contracted prices. It makes sense from a business point.

And about the things I signed for... I disagree to a point. I bought their product because I liked some of the things and I expected the rest to improve, they have a history of improving their consoles (3ds being one of them), I however came to the conclusion that his is not happening and right now I'm doing the only thing I can: I'm not buying any other Nintendo products. My switch right now is a warframe console and only because I can play with my girlfriend on it, if not I'd have passed to PC a long time ago.

  5. 1 minute ago, (NSW)MasterJ93 said:

That's fine, but typically speaking, they have contracts to buy certain components for a certain period of time (otherwise known as "Contract Manufacturing" and typically it's in years). It's not as simple as "getting things at a store and buying it through a sale." It takes quite a while to negoiate pricing and sometimes it might not be in their favour. So in order to get a larger capacity, they will have to go to a company that makes the storage (more than likely Samsung) and hope to get a price that doesn't kill their profits. Samsung (or any other manufacturer) has no reason to be nice to other companies, especially if they're larger and have more leverage.

I know it's easy to say that they can easily say that they can simply add a bigger internal storage, but it's much more complicated than that. Heck: the Switch barely gives them a profit ($257 according to a Japanese company that did a teardown of the Switch) and that doesn't factor R&D costs that Nintendo has to make back.

They changed the SoC (or so they say) for a different one more efficient so they certainly can change contracts with providers somehow, otherwise the revision wouldn't exist. And I'd like to know about the profits today because yeah, 2 years ago I'm sure they weren't really high, but today they probably are higher. Hell, I'd even be fine if they'd put for sale 2 switch, one with 32 and one with 64 gb for a higher price!

These are the things that I hate from Nintendo, they have this "japanese chef" mentality: They offer you a product and tell you how to enjoy it. They won't change it because they firmly believe their product is perfect as it is and they don't accept feedback. And I think it's stupid, because Switch has the potential to be the best console ever, and it's been crippled by Nintendo's stubborness.

I can't see using phone manufacturers as a fair comparison, as most of them either don't make money or make extremely low margins (outside of Samsung, Apple, and maybe Google). Their main thing is to undercut price in order to get people to buy more of their phones, while also partnering up with different software companies to install bloatware onto their phones (though, they're getting better with not doing so). So I don't think using phone companies would work in this case.

Fair point. But then again, there's something to consider, switch is almost 3 years old. The revision dropped a few months ago, for sure, the price of any components in the console by now are necessarily cheaper. So even if I can't tell you the prices for these components, it's not too farfetched to believe that said components today would be much cheaper than 2+ years ago. So even if the Switch of 2 years ago couldn't have a bigger memory, athe one nowadays could probably get access to cheaper chips.

  7. Just now, (NSW)MasterJ93 said:

That's not what I meant. Sure, people who wouldn't use an SD card for this game wouldn't have any issue with this if 64GB of internal storage was added, but it doesn't mean that those that choose to add it to the SD card might not experience any issues. Nintendo can still raise concerns about this, but only later, as it's not too much of a concern as now. So I don't agree that this problem would never happen if they added more storage internally.

Also, where did you get that info that it costs pennies to add more storage? I would like to see a source on that.

Well, I am no hardware developer or manufacturer so I don't have prices for all this stuff, but if we can take phone prices (of non overpriced brands like apple) into account, usually increasing from 32 to 64 gb doesn't makes the phone cost more than 10-20€/$ to the final consumer, so even in the case we take 20€/$ as the increase for the consumer, that means the retail price, not the bulk price Nintendo would face. I'm pretty sure that Nintendo is not paying 20€ more for a memory if they decide to buy batches of 100k (if not more) of a memory of 64gb instead of 32, at least nowadays.

Even if they had a larger amount of storage, DE would eventually have to deal with this, as I'm certain a large portion of the Switch user base is using an SD card in order to install the game (I know I'm one of them). It just seems that the priority of this issue is elevated due to the fact that the Old Blood update will now require everyone to use an SD card and Nintendo just wants to make sure that the way DE makes their updates doesn't kill the SD card quicker than what's expected. That's all. No amount of internal storage is going to solve that issue: it won't make this issue go away and all it'll do is delay the enviable, no matter how good a larger amount of internal storage is.

Well, actually, a bigger memory would make this problem not happen. Just a mere 64 gb memory (that nowadays costs pennies) would solve this, since I seriously doubt this game would get bigger than that. It is a problem that would not exist if Nintendo would have done better than this with the console. They made a revision of the console this past summer, for god sake, they could have included a bigger memory already in the revision and it wouldn't make the old consoles outdated (it's just bigger storage, the rest of the console remains the same so there is still one single system (performance wise) to develop games to). Still, they chose to keep it cheap (for them) and not even add a 64 gb chip. This is a problem that Nintendo caused and they are to blame for this.

You know what? You're very right. In fact, Zipf's law pretty much agrees with you: 80% of this community is (more than likely) very nice, understanding, and supportive, whereas the 20% is are the ones that are giving DE and Nintendo a hard time. I appreciate you saying this, I really do. And I apologize for snapping: it's just... really depressing that a lot of the community acting like this sometimes and it makes me question whether I really want to stay in this community since practically every gaming community (other than the Asian community) is constantly upset about pretty much everything bad that happens (even if it's small or something that's out of a lot of people's hands).

I agree with you in a good part of this, but let's be honest: if there's someone to blame here it's Nintendo for their decision on giving Switch such a small internal memory. This is a fact, if Switch's memory would be bigger, none of this would be happening now. I can't blame DE for this delay, it's not them who chose how much memory put on Switch to begin with, but we can't ignore that this delay and many of the Switch problems in general are just because of Nintendo's decisions.

Thank you all for waiting so patiently for The Old Blood. We want to show our appreciation and make up for lost time, so we have some goodies planned! Here's what's coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch once The Old Blood: Update 26.0.6 launches:

    • Double Affinity Weekend
    • 2 Relic Packs (6 Relics total!)
    • 7-Day Resource Booster

All of these goodies will be in addition to everything that arrived on other platforms with the update:

    • Legendary Core (for Mastery Rank 3+ accounts that aren't brand new)
    • 8 Gift of the Lotus Alerts
    • Forma Bundle
    • 7-Day Affinity Booster (that means 4x Affinity if you pair your Booster with the Double Affinity Weekend!)

Dates for the Alerts and Double Affinity Weekend will be posted in The Old Blood: Update 26.0.6 thread once it's live. We'll continue to keep you posted here as soon as we hear from Nintendo!

Thanks for keeping us updated and for making up for the delay even though it's not on your end. According to Steve, the problem is something related to the micro SD and having to put the whole game on it, do we have any more info from Nintendo on what's causing this delay exactly? I've heard about Pokemon the other day that's deleting some people's data from their SD, is it related to this?

Thank you for the effort you're putting into this game and please, consider that we're not blaming you guys for this delay, we know it's on Nintendo's hands, but some times it's just frustrating to see how others are already enjoying this content while we're still waiting without any info on the reasons.

The reason stated is that Warframe exceeds the switches small storage space so the whole game has to go on an SD card, the constant updates are not good tmfor SD cards so they will burn out eventually. It is Nintendos fault for not having the foresight before allowing live service games to exist on their system.

Hey, but don't be salty! Instead of the bigger memory, we got an awesome IR camera on the joycon that everybody has used at least once everyday, right? Right?

For real, I don't know what the hell was Nintendo thinking when they created this console: "hey! let's do a portable system to which you can't plug an external HDD, just a micro sd and, on top of that, let's add memory just enough to install a couple small games! What could possibly go wrong?"

Just in case, it's possible (though not very probable) they carried over relics when they migrated from PC. I myself have Ash Prime Neuroptics already built and have an additional blueprint from a random relic opening mission.

It's actually the case. There's a lot of people I know that come from PC and had vauban and ash sets for sale expecting to sell them at 1000p each, the moment DE announced the new vault, a lot of people came in the trade chat selling ash and vauban for prices more affordable (although still high) because they feared that the prices would drop.

I have a question, I hope it can be addressed in today's stream or here! 🙂
I get that the delay is caused by issues with Warframe's update cycle possibly affecting SD card life expectancy. That's valid.
How is this going to affect future Warframe development for Switch? I'd guess it might be an additional checking step for all future updates, potentially for both the DE team and the certification team at Nintendo. My question is, what information do you have at the time about that? Do you have some sort of estimate for the additional development/certification time for future updates?
    Thanks!

Actually if the issue is this, the problem is much bigger than just warframe. Think of the amount of games that happens to be like this: Overwatch, Fortnite, Paladins, I think there's an upcoming moba (other than arena of valor), Dauntless, Realm Royale... All these games, by how they are (a game as a service model) receive constant updates. If the problem is with the life expectancy of the SD due to the amount of writing cycles they are being asked to do, then it might not be just waframe but any game. And if that's so, then the problem could be something that makes this update delay seem like a silly thing.

    Exactly! Your completely right.

Yes it's only been 1 week for consoles...

    1 month already on PC...

    You see the situation now?

I understand the frustration when you talk about other consoles, but you have nothing to complain about PC. It's been always like this and it's better because PC is the place where they launch everything bugged. At least when it arrives to consoles a good part of the bugs is gone.

DE just want ppl to cave and buy those resource boosters, especially on argon crystal that will disappear 24hrs after, asking ppl to farm 15 of these like you're working in warframe instead of playing it is despicable

Uh... Have you ever farmed argon crystals? First, they don't disappear after 24 hours, the time is longer, they'll stay 24 hours and then will start decaying.

Second: What are you talking about? Like, really. You might need to do 3-4 runs of any exterminate mission in the void and you probably will have them all without boosters. Granted it's random and you might need a few more. But so what? God forbid DE making us work towards a goal! I seriously doubt it would take you more than 1-2 hours to farm all the argon crystals, are you being obtuse on purpose or just plain lazy?

This is what all players were intended to get when the update was [DE]layed. What a surprise, they managed to screw up distributing something yet again.

Uhm... this is weird, very weird actually. That day we received a pack of 3 formas (one per each 20 mins of watching the stream) that you strangely don't have. The mail is the usual for watching a stream and they didn't mention anything about any relic drop during that stream (that I watched completely) and the mail has the same time stamps on my console but for the formas. IDK but i wouldn't trust this pic.

Neither of the first two points explain why I shouldn't be able to heklp others with it. If twitter is any indication there are some people with accounts oldern than several years that struggle with resources.

Personal space - they will let you put people in there by design. And there's no real personal space in Warframe anymore, even your orbiter is accessable.

Not everyone needs one - so I am assuming you will never build yours and will be content to mooch off someone else?

First: you can help them by going to farm with them.

Second: If people that played over several years struggle with resources, they either didn't play or are lying. Or well... they are the kind of player that should really take a look at the wiki to learn how to farm.

They are personal space, it's MY railjack, built MY way, PERSONALIZED how I like it. It's personal.

Same thing that stops you from joining clans to siphon their research and drop out. It's not like it'd be the first time Warframe would have an exploitable system.

Not the same, you can buy the blueprints from the clan, but you still need to build the weapons from the blueprints.

Making a lot of assumptions here, pals. My railjack is currently building it's sixth piece, I was able to cover the costs as soon they were presented and apart from argons and some new resources I think I can afford one or two more right off the bat. Which is why I want this feature, because I want to assist people I took into my clan. But the game won't even let.

You're like dogs in the manger -  greedy and bitter and want everyone else to be as bitter as you are. Why?

I'm not greedy, I'll built the railjack room for my clan the moment it comes all with my material, but you know? I'm the kind of player that prefers to teach others how to play instead of play the game in their place. I'll gladly come help my clan mates to do all the index runs they need, and will bring my nekros whenever possible to help them farm the stuff, and will cover them when they mine in the plains or the vallis to help them do it faster, but I won't be the kind of player that "taxies" people across the starchart, making them rush everything and then what? For real, what's the problem with you all? Why on earth are you so against letting people play the game and reach every goal by their own?

To me, what it seems is that you are that kind of player that won't ever let others learn things by themselves, you're that kind of "boss" nobody wants because around them nobody learns anything since the boss makes everything on their own for the whole group. Stop deciding for other people what's best for them.

Oh, and one more thing, can you explain me what's the problem with this content not being accessible to someone that just started the game? Seems like you decided the game has nothing to offer except railjack and people must play it day one, otherwise they won't have anything to do. If you'd let people play the game the way is meant to be played (hint, not rushed by being taxied by a high MR "friend"), the moment they reach the railjack quest, they'll have all the tools they need to start doing it.

  18. I'm starting to get worried about something related to the update: The prime vault. For what we know, the update might be delayed for a while now, so what happens to the relics? It's been a week already and we don't even know when it will be solved, how is it going to work with the prime vault? I really wouldn't like to see another mag/nova issue here where they ignored our reports saying that the relics were unable to be obtained in bounties and with an insanely broken drop rate in void (and hence the prices of mag and nova on switch).

  19. There we go with today's take on "railjack is too expensive for new players and they should be able to play it from day 1".

Have you visited the forums in the last days? They are full of people like you, complaining about how the railjack is too expensive for new players, well some breaking news for you if you haven't:

RAILJACK IS NOT INTENDED TO BE BUILT BY NEW PLAYERS.

And it's ok, plenty of games release content that it's not accessible to everyone from day 1 but that they need to work before they can play it.

1 - If you're a vet, you already have stockpiles of everything anyways, so it's inconsequential and will barely break the bank for you.

2 - If you're a new or relatively new player, this makes building a railjack appear inaccessible , or a huge tedious grind, which is NOT what you want when you intend to market your game to a broader market and get new players into Railjack to experience the new Warframe.

Uhm... well, if you're a vet, you've been playing the game for a while, it's just natural that you have the resources. This game mode is not intended for new players but for people who have played for a while. Content gating  is been a thing in every single game I played, one way or another and it's a good thing because gives you the feeling of having worked towards something. If a new player can't afford this, then they just need to keep playing until they can (basically until they unlock the index). Why is people so obsessed with making railjack accessible to low mr people? They have plenty of things to do before getting to railjack, let them enjoy the rest of the game, let them grow in the game and when they are ready to afford a railjack, let them enjoy the feeling of having reach a big goal.

If they don't want to work to get things done, then I'm afraid they should stop playing warframe (or actually any game that has some degree of content, because every game will have stuff gated behind barriers of some kind).

    49 minutes ago, (PS4)Stealth_Cobra said:

The bonus would be accessibility to newcomers, instead of hyping a new gamemode in trailers and having people download the game only to realize what they saw in the trailers cannot be accessed for hundred of hours. Kinda like the new open worlds, if you hype up Cetus or Fortuna, they should be accessible right when you load into the game , or require very little effort like clearing a couple of nodes and the tutorial (which they kinda are honestly).

Have you ever played an MMORPG or any game that works as a service to be fair. A lot of games are announcing expansions or new content that can only be accessible after meeting certain requirements (namely level or item level). And nobody is losing their minds to it as you guys are doing with railjack. When FFXIV announced shadowbringer, people that just started the game, unless they paid, couldn't get to it, and even then, there are dungeons that you can't access even after paying because they require a certain level that you won't have; so you still will have to work your way to access it. I never seen anyone complaining because they can't access the new WoW expansion right away since they just started playing. Is all the content of destiny 2 accessible to a new player? Heck, can you even play a single player game (idk, say a Mario) and have all the levels (even the final boss) accessible from the beginning? Can you play pokemon and go directly to battle the league champion without passing through the gyms?

  21. 1 minute ago, Drachnyn said:

This isnt what OP is asking for at all. Naturally you'd have to complete the quests up to chimera and very likely ropalolyst to even start new war. What this thread is asking is that casual and newer players (in my eyes people who have just done sacrifice are still new players) can experience those quests on board of someone else's railjack if they are doing the quests. Steve already told us that you get some progression with railjack gear like new systems if you come along with someone else but without having your own railjack. Naturally people would still want to have their very own railjack so they arent dependant on their friends.

If I can play railjack from the beginning in other people's ship, why should I even build mine? Content is gated for a good reason: there must be some way of seeing that you are progressing in the game. Not everything must be accessible to someone who just started to play. There is absolutely no game where things are like this. I still don't understand why people is complaining about railjack requirements in general, when I started the game I wanted to do eidolons but I couldn't. Life works like this, you need to work your way to enjoy stuff, so grow up and accept it.

  22. 2 minutes ago, Drachnyn said:

You are talking about high end raids, OP isnt. This thread isnt about the railjack equivalent of raids or eidolons, it's about those main story quests. How I understood the OP was that if someone has completed chimera, they should be able to do new war on someone else's railjack if they get taken along for the ride and I agree with that. This has nothing to do with the fabled endgame everyone dreams about but has no cohesive idea what it should be.

Uh... No I'm not. Most of the story dungeons require a level or an iLevel to be accessible, which gives you sense of progression. Then you have all the crafting jobs in FFXIV that are also gated by levels. Everything is gated in games because it gives you a sense of progression in general, and like this, Railjack should be to. Tell me, why don't we open the war within to the MR0 players with a quest that can be done in the first 2 hours? After all, eidolons are not endgame, why not open them to any player? And we should also make it so rubico prime is a weapon that you can buy from the market, forma'd and potato'd and with a godroll riven included, so everyone can do eidolons from the first moment.

The reason why content is gated behind barriers (in this case a resource barrier) is because it gives the players a goal.

Classic MMOs work completely different. We dont have a traditional leveling system in warframe. And if you actually look at FF14, there is a exp boost available for people to catch up if they start the game now. FF14 also doesnt lock you out of the mainquests because you didnt fish enouch or gathered enough tomestones of being lit. Warframe rarely reduces old grinds. Again this is not about reducing the grind to get your own railjack, this is about letting people experience the quests tied to it when their friend who have all of it are willing to help them.

Well, first things first. In  FF14 there's a boost available that takes you to the beginning of the last expansion. You still need to grind to open the access to the high end raids (namely you need an iLevel of X to access certain dungeons or raids). And this is exactly the same. Content should be locked behind some barriers that allow progression. Otherwise, progression would stop making sense at all. What's even the point of making people play to get access to certain things when they could just let someone do it for them? Why don't we then open the war within to MR0 players so they can do it just the moment they open the game and can start doing eidolons within 2 hours of starting their account? Also, we should reduce the requirements to craft an amp to something like 10 creds and 1 cetus wisp, so these guys could already go there and do it. Let's remove all kind of progression of the game, what could possibly go wrong?
